2. What is our idea?
Our idea for the sequence only involves three characters, a young man, a murder and a
news reporter. We will follow the young man (Tom) on his journey home until he is
intercepted by a man in a mask. After a brief, suspicious, confrontation between the
two characters, there will be a chase scene in which Tom depreartly attempts to escape
his demise, until the unidentified killer catches up and kills Tom, or so the audience is
lead to believe . We will later see, from the computer screen of the news reporter, that
Tom was just one of many who have disappeared, with much suspicion surrounding
the crimes.
3. Why we chose this idea?
In the research stage of producing our opening sequence, we created a questionnaire
which allowed us to come up with the idea of our antagonist, furthermore, allowing us
to come up with a storyline.
This is our chosen idea because, it will create an effective yet scary opening sequence
to a horror film.
4. What is our Time Frame?
We are hoping that the filming time frame for our piece will only take three days to
film. However, the time it takes to edit the piece will take longer as we have only used
the editing software once before.
5. Contingency Plans
We have created contingency plans with regards to actors being unavailable on a day
of filming. If the main actor pulls out, we have asked one of our friends, who lives in
the area we are filming, to step in. If the actor playing the murder pulls out, it is not a
big problem as they will be wearing a mask.
6. Age rating
From looking at the BBFC guidelines, we have decided that the film will be a PG 12.
This is because it will contain violence and due to the dark themes which could be
sensitive to some younger viewers, therefore, they should be in the company of their
parents if they chose to watch our film.
7. Reaching Target Audience
To ensure that our film will reach the correct target audience (young adults) we will
advertise it on social media platforms such as instagram and snapchat, which are both
very commonly used by teens and young adults. The opening sequence will be
available on youtube, which is also easily accessible to most teens.
8. Platforms it will be available on
So our film will reach as many platforms as possible, we intend to have it on many
platforms. Some of these will include, Netflix, Amazon Prime, Apple Play, HBO , ITV
and BBC.
By having such a wide variety of platforms that our film will be available on, a larger
audience will be able to access it.
9. Copyright Issues
We can ensure that no copyright issues will occur, by making sure we will contact the
correct people for using the various scores and soundtracks that we intend to. Another
way we will prevent copyright issues is by creating our own non-diegetic sounds.
To stop others from copying any elements of our piece, we plan to
Trademark/Copyright it.
