The document discusses different color combinations for a classical magazine, based on focus group feedback. It considers using white, cream and blue but feels they may clash. Black is suggested instead of blue. Red, white and black are proposed and felt to work well together without clashing. These colors could attract both males and females and fit the elegant, classical style targeted at an older audience. The document ultimately decides red, white and black may attract the intended audience most as the bold red and black will stand out against a white background.
1. Although a female from my focus group interview suggested that I should use the three colours white, cream and blue, I believe together the colours may clash as they are all light. In order to break up the colours, I think if I was to take the blue out and replace it with the colour black this may work well together.
However, the cream colour may not attract the males although it can be seen as elegant. This may be an issue as I aim to attract both males and females.
From my focus group interview a male suggest I should use the three colours red, white and black. I think the three colours work well together as they don’t clash. My classical magazine should be elegant as I aim to target an older generation. These colours attract both males and females. The red is bright and this could draw in potential readers, and the black maybe be used for my copy as it’s a bold colour. As red and black are both quite dark, the white is able to break up the two colours. Therefore I may use the white for my background colour.
These two colours were suggested from a female from my focus interview. They create a relaxing atmosphere, which is perfect for my classical magazine. However, although the two colours appeal to both males and females, the colours may clash at times and therefore if I decide to use both white and grey I will consider adding perhaps a primary colour such a red.
The colour red breaks up the two lighter colours and could perhaps be the main colour for my copy.
The two colour white and purple work well together as they contrast. The enables both the white and purple to stand out individually, however, the colour may not attract the male audience that I wish to target. Therefore if I do choose to use these two colours I may make the purple lighter and add in another colour such as green to target males.
The reason I have only used two/three main colours is because my magazine will look neater and will attract my target audience as using too many colour may make the page look overcrowded. I believe using the second idea of red, white and black may attract my audience more than the other colours. I think this because the primary colour red and the bold black will stand out the best from a white background.
