The mast head is across the top of the
magazine cover, partly covered by Bruno
Mars. The writing is Bold and Red which
contrasts against the white background.
How the design of the magazine attracts the audience:The design of the magazine attracts
the target audience as the colours contrast against one another. Also, the magazine is
overlapping one another making the front cover look busy yet there is still few information
to go on.
Main image
The main image dominates the front cover of the
magazine and is central. The cigarette in the main
images mouth and the clothing of leopard print
signifies danger which links with the rock
magazine. The main images is staring at the
camera creating a direct address.
The colours used on the magazine cover are Red,
Black and Yellow. The red and black signify the
genre of the magazine, Rock. They also contrast
against the white background. The yellow contrasts
with the main image.
Typefaces
The type faces are all bold and use sans serif
font making them look less formal on the
magazine front like rock bands are. Most rock
magazines use sans serif font.

with the main image. The yellow writing contrasts
against the leopard print on the main image.
The lighting used on the main image to light the
face of Bruno Mars to show the audience that
he’ll be the main cover in the magazine. The
lighting also lights the singers leopard print
clothing. This suggests the genre of the
magazine as leopards are dangerous
connotating that the genre of the magazine is
Rock.

The cover line is the name of the bands which will
be included into the magazine. They are in the
primary optical area. The names are big rock names
to attract people to buy the magazine.
Design Principles Used?
The design principle has been used as the cover
lines in the area in the primary optical area.
However, the Main cover line is in the weak
fallow but the yellow and bold writing makesit
a more key eye focus point.

The main cover line Best Rock of 2013 is bold,
black writing which stands out against the white
background colour. It also attracts the target
audience because they are insinuating that they
have the best rock bands of 2013. The main cover
line is in the weak fallow area.

House Style
The house style of the magazine is used across the magazine covers to create a
brand look and so people recognise the magazine. The mast head is across the
top of the magazine in the primary optical and strong fallow area creating a
consistency throughout different issues of the magazine.
