The civil rights movement was in the late 1940's to the 1960's in America where multiple groups of
social activists and a rave of social movements collided together to fight against the oppression of
colored people. During that era, many African American were expected to stay in fear but on the
contrary, many came together and formed organizations like the National Association for the
Advancement of Colored People (NAACP), there were also younger people that took a stand and
formed their own organizations like the Student Nonviolent Coordinating Committee (SNCC). The
main cause of the civil rights movement was black wanting equal opportunities as whites which
were natural human rights, also the right to vote, right of ownership, equal education, the bus
boycotts. Without the law, African Americans subdue great physical violence. There were plenty of
cases where many have died fighting for the right to be a human being. The success of the civil
rights movement was gradual. There were day by day changes with the way people viewed African
Americans as whole. It took a while to get the law to stand on their side. One specific case of

The Civil Rights Movement was a pivotal time in American history, leading us toward the
acceptance and advancement of African Americans in society, and eventually the same for other
minority groups. The movement as a whole spanned from around the beginning of the 1950's to
around the beginning of the 1970's. All across the nation, African American people fought for their
rights through numerous protests and boycotts. Some notable events are the Montgomery Bus
Boycott, the March on Washington, and the Greensboro lunch counter sit–ins. Many forms of
legislation and many judiciary decisions were made during this era, such as the Civil Rights Act of
1964 and 1968, the Voting Rights Act of 1965, and Brown v. Board of Education ("A Timeline of

American citizens were not fond of President Trump's speech, let alone his presence in attending the
ceremony. A lot of people think he is racist and taking away our natural human rights as citizens for

convicted of murder. He was tried in a Massachusetts court, in which the courtroom could not

America, a country founded on civil liberties and civil rights which are very strongly protected by
law. The United States constitution specifically address the rights and freedoms that all Americans
are guaranteed. Now over 200 hundred years later, the United States has rapidly grown, global

I have observed and experienced different infringements of Civil Rights. During my 8th grade year,
my Spanish teacher showed discrimination against male students by choosing a female student to

The Civil Rights Movement
The Civil Rights movement is one of the most important acts to change the way not only African
Americans were able to live their lives but all races and colors. It would slowly break down the
social, economic, political, and racial barriers that were created by the The Age of Discovery and
Transatlantic Slave trade. I believe without the Civil Rights acts our country would result to be no
better than what it was when the Emancipation Proclamation just took effect. In the 1950s and long
before, Southern folk, who were white had created a system that would interpret them as a superior
race over blacks. The system would defend whites rights and privileges from being taken away from
them while establishing terrible inhumane suffering for African Americans. In the South blacks were
controlled in all aspects economic, political, and personal, this was called a "tripartite system of
domination" – (Aldon D. Morris) (6) Though it isn't as prevalent racism and discrimination towards
other races that aren't white is still found in America and can be in schools, the workplace, even
when you are in the general public but you no longer see discriminating signs saying "Whites" or
"Blacks" or Colored" along the front of bathroom, restaurants, and shopping malls doors. Nor do
you see people being declined the right to buy a home based on their color or access to school and
an equal education being declined because one didn't meet racial requirements. The acts of violence
