2. POLLUTION
-Is the introduction of contaminants into the natural
environment that cause adverse change. POLLUTION can take
the form of chemical substances or energy, such as noise, heat
and light. POLLUTANTS, the components of pollution, can be
either foreign substances/energies or naturally occurring
contaminants.
3. CAUSES OF POLLUTION
-Untreated or improperly treated waste is a major cause of
pollution of reverse and environmental degradation causing ill health and
loss of crop productivity.
*AIR POLLUTION *PLASTIC BAGS
*FLY ASH *INDUSTRIAL SOURCES
*BURNING OF FOSSIL FUELS *AGRICULTURAL SOURCES
*AGRICULTURAL ACTIVITIES
*MINING OPERATIONS
4. TYPES OF POLLUTION
-AIR POLLUTION
-Is a mixture of solid particles and gases in the air. Car emissions,
chemicals from factories, dust, pollen and mold spores maybe suspended as
particles. Ozone, a gas, is a major part of air pollution in cities.
5. -LIGHT POLLUTION
-The pollution of the night environment by
anthropogenic light is known as light pollution. This type of pollution
is cause by an excessive lightning of this streets, flood lights use in
stadiums, lights used in an industrial area, etc.
6. -NOISE POLLUTION
-When environment is filled with unnecessary or unpleasant sounds
that are harmful to animals and plants, it is called noise pollution. Transport
vehicles, machinery, industries, loud music, people yelling, etc., are some of
the most common sources of noise pollution.
7. -PLASTIC POLLUTION
-As the name suggests, plastic pollution is caused by plastic
accumulation in the environment. Plastic, a non-biodegradable
substance, is extremely harmful to all life on earth. Every year,
thousands of animals lose their lives due to plastic pollution
8. -THERMAL POLLUTION
-An induced change in the temperature of large volumes of
water causes thermal pollution. This type of pollution leads to the
degradation of water quality as the one water does not provide ideal
living condition for aquatic flora and fauna.
9. -WATER POLLUTION
-In simple terms, the contamination of water bodies like lakes,
rivers, ponds, and aquifers, etc., by pollutants is called water pollution,
water pollution is one of the most harmful types of pollution. It can have
extremely disastrous consequences for all living beings using the
contaminated water.
10. HARMFUL EFFECTs OF POLLUTION
-High levels of pollution can cause an increased risk of heart attack,
wheezing, coughing, and breathing problems, an irritation of the eyes, nose, and
throat. Can also cause worsening of existing heart problems, asthma, and other
lung complications. Pollution can reach a point where their isn’t enough oxygen
in the water for the fish to breath... Sometimes pollution affects the entire food
chain. Small fishes absorb pollutants, such as chemicals, into their bodies. Then
bigger fishes eat the smaller fishes and gets the pollutants too. Birds or other
animals may eat the bigger fishes and be harmed by the pollutants.
11. SOLUTION FOR POLLUTION
*USED WATER BASED PAINTS
*RECYCLE EVERYTHING YOU CAN
*DON’T LITTER
*WASH YOUR CAR IN THE LAWN
*USE ENVIRONMENTALLY SAFE PRODUCTS
*RECYCLE YOUR USED MOTOR OIL AND FILTERS
*COMPOST YARD TRIMMIMGS
*REPORT ILLEGAL DUMPING
*PICK UP AFTER YOUR PETS
*DISPOSE OF TRASH PROPERLY
