Practicing Pilates can safely build a strong core. Pilates involves many
body weight exercises that rely on the core for stability. These exercises
can strengthen the back, tone the abdominal muscles, and contribute
to a flat stomach.
Pilates is also useful for conditioning underdeveloped parts of the body.
Traditional workouts target one large muscle or muscle group and may
neglect smaller surrounding muscles, which can lead to injuries. Pilates
conditions all body parts evenly, down to the ankles and feet.
Pilates is also particularly effective in improving flexibility. The
stretching can improve joint mobility and overall flexibility, while the
strength training aspects elongate muscles and improve their elasticity.
