2. How old are you?
From my survey you can see that I have received a variety of people from the
ages 15 and above. This is beneficial to me because I am only targeting people
who are above 15 and above, it helped me see what they like and what I can
add into my trailer. I also found at that with the younger target audience who are
about 15 and 16, they like to see blood and gore, it didn’t really matter if they
were male or female. Another connection I made that all of the adults who are
18 and above preferred to leave out the horrific scenes and they would like to
leave it to their imagination.
3. Are you male or female?
From my survey you can see that I have mainly interviewed more females then
males, so you can see that my findings may not be fair and can be bias to one
side. Such as the results showed that people would prefer to leave the gory
scenes to the imagination, however a majority of the males said they prefer to
see the blood and gore. So if I conducted an even amount of numbers the
blood and gore and imagination could have evened out. This has helped me
see the differences to what males prefer to see compare to females.
Male
Female
4. Do you like the horror genre?
From my survey you can see that some people did not like the horror genre,
so I would not really take into account what they have said. However even
though they do not like the genre, they can still state the conventions of horror
which, I can put in my evaluation and say even though some people do not
like horror they sill know the conventions that are typically seen. This will
strengthen as to why I used a particular location, prop or music.
Yes
No
5. If yes what do you like about horror?
From my survey you can see I have received a variety of answers from, the
thrill, the excitement, scary but knowing its not real. The reason why I asked this
question was so that when I conduct my trailer I want to make my audience feel
like this. I can also look back and make improvements if my trailer does not do
this and can get feed back and ask does this excite you? Or does this give you a
thrill? If not I would know that my trailer is not effective enough.
6. What are the conventions of horror?
From my survey you can see that the main typical answers I have been
receiving are, isolated place, dramatic music, big house, good vs.
bad, killer, dolls, innocent people, mask, weapon and screams. I will be
looking at what to use for my trailer from the list, and also using this as
reference as to why I added in specific objects such as a knife or a mask. I
am going to have to relate my horror trailer to as much conventions as
possible to gain the most effective results.
7. Can you name some horror films that you have enjoyed?
From my survey the three horror films that where mentioned the most
where, Paranormal Activity, The Grudge and Insidious. I will be looking
at three trailers and list what is the most effective and try to use this in
my trailer. I can use the movies as reference in my evaluation to what
film trailer helped me gain ideas for my own horror movie trailer.
8. Do you like blood and gore or do you prefer to leave it to the imagination?
From my survey you can see that most people preferred to leave the
imagery to the imagination. However because my survey was mostly done
by females, this could be the reason why most people said imagination,
because they do not like to see all the gruesome images. While most males
prefer to see what is being done and as much detail. Though from my
interview a female interviewee said she liked to leave it to the imagination
because it is far worse than what is seen on screen. I think I am going to
leave it to the imagination, as people can picture to what is going to happen,
but I will add in some blood to say I am trying to target a wide range
audience.
