Taking A Stand Against Wal-Mart Essay example
Wal–Mart is currently the largest corporation in America. Currently, it drags in about 288.189 billion dollars yearly with sales, up 11% since 2003,
and expected to reach an even higher level this year with people looking for "great" deals during this struggling economy. Wal–Mart also employs
about 1.3 million people in America and 1.8 million overseas. Makes sense doesn't it? Large company, large sales, large workforce; the big three
needed for a successful business platform. But, hold the phone, what's this? Wal–Mart needs to have expenditures to pay for new building sites, pay
wages, and give benefits to its employees. How can they complete that big three and still turn a large profit to be in the Fortune 500 number one spot
for the... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
There are just a couple of flaws: work is guaranteed unless the worker starts to complain about anything, that's what the "hiring now" sign is for, to
replace it (they're assets, not people). The wage will earn the worker a living, if they shop at Wal–Mart, its minimum i.e. Wal–Mart is the only place to
shop they can afford. And insurance coverage has a 50% co–pay (if they're really lucky), just pray they don't need any expensive prescriptions (but
top–ramen tastes good everyday doesn't it?). Wal–Mart has money handed to them on a silver platter to pay for the creation of a new building, and
doles out, quite literally, the bare minimum to its employees to ensure they shop back at the mother ship: another Wal–Mart. This business model
ingeniously eliminates waste, almost creating a perfect symbiosis of money paid to employee, forced to pay it back to Wal–Mart, while Wal–Mart
sold a 15 cent gizmo, for 4.99. That's how to make a profit baby! Now how big of a deal is Wal–Mart joining (invading) a community? Take away the
(multi) million dollar subsidies, false (pathological lie) advertisement adds, lack of employee (human) rights, and ability to challenge (bury/crush
/systematically slaughter) friendly (it's WAR) business competition... Aside from that Wal
–Mart only has violated EPA regulation in over 20 states (and
counting), because who really needs the environment? Community giving is at record lows, but those homeless

Google Essay
Today, everyone uses Google. Google, Inc. is considered the considered to be the second most valuable brand in the world. More than 70 percent of
searches are made using Google. Most people use it multiple times a day, and would not be able to function without it.
Google was founded by Sergey Brin and Larry Page, two students in Stanford University. While they were in school, Brin decided a good idea for his
doctoral thesis was to find a practical and easy method of finding information from huge amounts of data. At the time, the internet was very
unorganized and the first search engines were not so effective. While Page was using AltaVista, a new search engine, he found information about links.
This was a new idea, where a person could ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
After they realized how popular their search engine was getting, they tried to sell it but their offers were rejected. Eventually they decided to leave
school and find investors. They were incorporated on September 4, 1998 and moved their business into a garage. After five months they needed a
bigger space and moved to an office in Palo Alto. They managed to secure more funds but their original idea of licensing their software was not
making enough money. They realized they would have to sell advertising to make money. They were initially reluctant to do this because they thought
other search engines that did this biased their results in favor of the companies they were advertising. They felt that such subjectivism in results was
unfair to their users who wanted the best and most accurate information and that it went against their motto "Don't be evil," which was later changed to
"You can make money without doing evil." Brin and Page eventually decided they would split their results into two sections, with advertisements on the
right and regular, unbiased results on the left. However, they refused to advertise certain things such as guns, illegal drugs, cigarettes, or political attacks.
Google expanded quickly, as people started to be able to use Google on their phones as well as their computers. Page and Brin also made agreements
companies such as Yahoo, AOL, and EarthLink, and allowed other sites to put theGoogle search box on their web pages, and

The Negative Effects Of Gofundme
Have you or your family ever needed financial help? Have you ever been willing to ask anyone for it? GoFundMe is just one example of a
crowdfunding website. Crowdfunding is a type of platform where anyone that has a specific URL can donate any amount to a cause they may
support. There are several people who use these sites for good well thought out campaigns, however there are others that try to get donors just from
comedic effects. The people that use GoFundMe for impractical reasons give it a bad connotation and draw from people who actually need it. While
GoFundMe has successfully raised money for families in need, the reality is our society as a whole is too corrupt to make it a trustworthy site and
therefore its reputation is tainted.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
To those who have a negative opinion to such sites as GoFundMe, I understand why. The story of Elza was empowering, and the next examples I have
are disappointing at best. One of the most inappropriate campaigns was that of Victoria Byers. The twenty–six year old woman was tired of men trying
to hit on her over Facebook, she made a campaign for those men to pay for her bills and beautification is exchange for pleasure. GoFundMe tried
taking it down as to say it was against their policies but Victoria got a lawyer and ended up keeping her post and all the money she raised. After
sixteen days, she raised sixty dollars and took the campaign down. GoFundMe is infamous for fans trying to raise money for their celebrity idols. In
this particular instance, Seattle Seahawk fans saw Ciara – singer and partner of Russell Wilson – as a jinx on Wilson's career. Their goal was to raise
$50,000 in order to coax Wilson to kick her to the curb. As their logic may have been flawless, $50,000 isn't even a dent to what Wilson makes per
game. It most likely wouldn't have changed a thing. On a personal note, GoFundMe is a useful tool that shouldn't be available to everyone. Before the
internet, fundraising was the only way to receive donations without the need for a non–profit organization to represent you. The crowdfunding site has
its uses but wouldn't it be more effective to represent yourself in person? There are

Case Study: Victoria's Secret
OVERVIEW
Victoria's Secret, one of the world's most recognizable fashion brands, established itself in the Bay Area in the early 1970s. Originally owned by an
ambitious Stanford graduate looking for a comfortable and high–end retailer to buy his wife lingerie, Roy Raymond opened the first store at Stanford
Shopping Center. Styled after a Victorian boudoir, Raymond's success prompted him to open three other locations, a catalog business, and a corporate
headquarters within a few years. His inability to balance finances with his creative vision, Roy Raymond fell into trouble and was forced to sell his
company for the small sum of $1 million dollars to The Limited, an Ohio–based conglomerate ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Replacing Pink is Intimissimi, an Italian brand that is expected to impact 6–8% of the store's sales, but caters to a more sophisticated client. Thrid party
brands are also making a stronger appearance this year as the store became a В‘critical fashion' destination. New lines from Betsy Johnson, Anna
Sui, Chantal Thomass and Pleasure State create a new sophistication for the store, but its higher price may alienate the average shopper. The launch
of the new Very Sexy Makeup line also impacted our ability to accurately compare October 2005 with the same month in 2006. A complete
renovation of the make up line launched in September 2006 provided heightened figures from the beauty zone, again making yearly comparisons
difficult. The good news is that new product lines as immense as those listed above are not on the agenda for 2007 and will provide a stronger
correlation for future data.
DATA COLLECTION The data for the analysis was collected through daily, weekly and monthly results posted byVictoria's Secret. Every day an
email is delivered to the stores releasing information regarding the store's current sales, its comparison to last year, the transactions and the conversion
of traffic (i.e. How many shoppers made a positive purchase). The actual traffic was calculated by taking the total transactions for the

Narrative Essay On The Mburgler
The McBurgler It was the night of the Ronald McDonald Charity Ball. Sam Pound, the new CEO of McDonalds, who wanted to transform
McDonalds and other food chains into healthier solutions, he was waiting to give his speech. Sam was five foot nine, blue eyed, brown wavy hair,
and he was 180 pounds. He was wearing what he called his power suit. A maroon suit with a white silk shirt and light grey tie. His assistant was
carrying the oversized check to present to the audience. It was twenty million dollar check! The crowd applauded enthusiastically. The night was long,
but a lot of fun. It was early in the morning when he got back to his office. He wanted to do his checking account before he went back to his
penthouse for the night. He couldn't believe his eyes when he realized 50 million dollars were unaccounted for. He checked several times and still got
the same result. He immediately called his friend Cordin Profin. Cordin was a NYC detective and his best friend since childhood.
"Oh, my God! Oh, my God!"
"Why didn't you stop when I saw you getting into the taxi?" said Cordin.
"I missing 50 million in my bank," yelled Sam!
"Didn't you just give money to the Ronald McDonald fun?"
"No, I only gave only 20 million. And I already accounted for that. But 50 million is gone without a trace!"
"Calm down, I will investigate once the banks open up in the morning." reasoned Cordin
"No, you need to come with me to LA. I have multiple meetings and some personal business out there. Plus, there is a branch in California too."
"Alright, fine. I will see you in the morning at your penthouse. Have my special my brew of coffee ready!" Sam slept a few hours and got Cordin's
special brew ready. As soon as he arrived, they flew the helicopter over to his office building. His assistant, Trixie, came out to the roof looking
confused.
"Didn't you just leave 15 minutes ago for the airport?" inquired Trixie.
"I just woke up 15 minutes ago."
"He called me last night and told me 50 million dollars was missing," said Cordin. "There might be something big going on here."
"Go, go, get to the airport," exclaimed Trixie. Sam grabs his files and brief case and they rush back to the helicopter. They told the pilot to get to his

What the Red Cross Does for Others
Alexis Moloney was just another person in this world. But one day, something horrible happened. She was just enjoying another day of life, doing
what she does every other day, but then it happened. She came home and was devastated. An fire had broken out in her house and most everything
was burned. She didn't have many people to turn to, and those she could have, didn't have enough money to support her. So she went from place to
place and finally she found a place at her cousin's home. While she was there she listened to what the news had to say about the fire that consumed her
home. The news didn't report anything for a while after it happened. She waited and waited, and when it finally came on the news, there wasn't much

She went back to her home and investigated the incident on her own. She stayed at a hotel until she could get insurance on her house. It was a while,
and she no longer had the option of staying with family. She found out that what really happened was that there was an electrical fire, and there was
no response to it because there was no smoke alarms that were operational in her house. She was frustrated that she had not heard about this on the
news. After she learned this, she also learned something else. She learned that there was a charity that helped these kinds of incidents. She just forgot
about it at first, but when she learned that she was lacking the funds to stay at the hotel that she was staying at, she was forced to learn more. She
learned that it was a local charity funded by the American Red Cross, and that they were not only providing her with a place to stay, but also providing
her with enough food. She was devastated when she learned about the fire, but the American Red Cross helped her get back on her feet.

had one specific goal when he made his movies and television shows, which was to make people happy. He did not focus on the money or the fame,
all that mattered to him was seeing that his movies were positively effecting his viewers lives.(Brown) He began using the money he made while

These surpluses have been used primarily to retire government debt and Australia's budget deficit was more than 2% in 2009–10. Australia reported a
budget deficit equivalent to 4.3 percent of the GDP for fiscal year's 2009–10 (TradingEconomics, 2011), indicating Australia's fiscal position is slightly
riskier than the years before. The gap increases the possibility that the government will need to take actions which could adversely influence the
nation's economic health, such as resorting to expropriations of property, raising taxes, or printing money, in order to meet its promises unless there is
not enough capital to finance current investment opportunities. Otherwise unsavory consequences such as capital flight could dry up new investment,
affecting incentives to work, save, and take risks, and which would result in monetary instability, highinflation, high interest rates, currency
depreciation, etc. On a side note, it is important to point out that the deficits are not big enough to define Australia as fiscal irresponsible.
Monetary instability leads to large and unpredictable changes in the money supply whereby central banks attempt to monetize the debt through
increasing interest rates which result in higher inflation. Inflation is the logical outcome of an expansion of the money supply in excess of real output
growth. It also reflects erosion in the purchasing power of money – a loss of real value in the internal medium of

Persuasive Essay On Human Cloning
ManThe man is the most advanced creature on earth with an impeccable mind capable of endless creativity. However, there are two significant things
that, since the dawn of time, people have always desired to dominate: time and death. With the strong development of science, humanity has found an
amazing solution to this puzzle: cloning, the "aggregate of genetically identical cells or organisms asexually produced by or from a single progenitor cell

Furthermore, human cloning is an opportunity for people to choose the most desirable genes for their generation; parents can decide the best traits for
their children. The scientists can involve to choose the strongest genes between the parent for their child, and exclude the defective genes, hence, they
are able to create a new healthy body without disease, and malformation. The second benefit of human cloning is an opportunity for mankind to restart
their incomplete life. The amount of young people who die because of accident is increasing with the degradation of the environment, "more than 3
million people die from vaccine–preventable diseases each year. Approximately 1.5 million of these deaths are in children less than 5 years old."
(Philadelphia, 2014) It is the sorrowful loss for the victim's family and the world for they are the future of the world and should be protected by the
government. Therefore, human cloning can be the best solution for the recreation of the dead person. With this technology, scientists can take the cells

One Red Paperclip
Reading the cases about E–Biz in Baltzan (2013), the examples of the "Million Dollar Homepage" and the "One Red Paperclip" (pp. 198–200), really
sends the entrepreneurial mind spinning. The thoughts of "How else can one use the internet to raise money?", "Which businesses might benefit from
e–trade on the internet that are not already there?", and "What other disruptive, nontraditional ways might the internet be used?", all immediately flood
the brain after reading the two examples presented in this exercise. Well, presented here is this author's response to the exercise.
First, the question of how else can the internet be used to raise money besides the "Million Dollar Homepage" and the "One Red Paperclip" is
pondered. One of the first examples that this author thought of was the "Go Fund Me" pages that some folks have used to raise capital in a similar
manner to the crafty student with the Million Dollar Homepage. The "Go Fund Me" system allows individuals to post personal fundraising campaigns
online. Pertinent information to the cause or the reason for the fundraiser, how much money is needed, and the time period of the needed funds are all
important when establishing a fund raising campaign. With the 2014 United States population survey at 318.9 million (2014), just a dollar, or even a

Retirement Planning
Retirement Planning The assignment being completed by the author of this paper asks the author to take half a million euros and take one of two
general strategies with the money. The first strategy is to invest in a pension with a life insurance company and have that be the income that pays a
pension the rest of one's life and the other is to self–manage and invest the money whilst taking annual withdrawals to pay bills and otherwise live one's
life. Both options will be explored but a firm choice shall be made between the two in the content of this report. Self–Invest Taking a self–invest
strategy may seem like the smart move here given the amount of money that is saved up, and for two major reasons. First, half a million euros is a
lot of cash and would last quite a while with normal spending even if no more investment return is ever garnered again. For example, the average
income in Great Britain is 25,000 euros and that would make this half a million Euros last the better part of 20 years with no additional investment
return required (BBC, 2013). The other upside is that there are no commissions or other service fees, at least not from a personal investment manager
or life insurance company, in play and that would be a good amount of savings over the 2–3 decades that would be retirement. The downside is that
self–investment from a clear novice in terms of investment knowledge would not be the wisest of ideas and could actually lead to lesser returns than

Australian economy and society in general. In particular, consider how various segments may impact GDP growth, public goods and "open access

Australia's tourism is an important part of the Australian economy. As mentioned earlier, tourism represented 3.0% of Australia's GDP in 2014/2015.

A public good is a good that individuals can consume without reducing its availability to other individuals. These goods are typically referred to as
nonrivalrous and nonexcludable. A common resource or "open access resource" is a resource that provides users with tangible benefits. A concern
that common resources have is overuse. When talking about overuse it is very natural to mention the free rider problem that many countries are
facing and especially Australia. The theory behind a free rider is a person who benefits from a good that possibly have been made or paid for by
others without contributing to the good themselves. In the Africa Progress Panel's 2015 report, it was stated that Australia has gone from a leadership
to a free–rider status when talking about climate diplomacy. It is believed that developed countries such as Australia are causing the majority of the
problem through for example gas emissions. A research shows that many of the countries who are the ones creating the most gas emitting are also
the ones who are least vulnerable to climate change and are essentially the free riders. It is here important to remember that a modern example of a
common resource is climate stability. The problem with Australia essentially being a free rider is that Australia is a country with a lot of wildlife and
nature. Many people travel to Australia to experience the nature and wildlife but if they continue being free riders it can result in lower GDP and
lower income per capita because the wildlife and beautiful nature with high possibility would be ruined thus fewer people would want to visit the
country. An example of this would be the Great Barrier Reef who recently was pronounced

Athletes Should Not Be Paid
Professional athletes in the United States are given extremely substantial contracts and lucrative endorsement deals and it has been argued that their
salaries should be reduced to smaller wages but others say they are paid accordingly. The argument that athletes are overpaid not only exists in the
United States but also all over the world. Most countries however do not have the variety of major sports that the U.S. has. When athletes are being
paid millions of dollars each year, it raises an important discussion. This discussion is about how we value and compensate athletes and whether or not
their salary is too much. This also leads to an argument asking if American priorities are altered by the significant difference of athletes... Show more

For example teaching is one of the most important jobs in the U.S. The impact teachers have on their kids and what they teach them is one of the
most important things in the world because the future and the future economy relies on the education of its youth. Yet teachers make a significant
amount less than athletes. To show the significance, each basket Kobe Bryant scores in a game is equivalent to the average salary of a school
teacher. The President, one of the most powerful people in our country and someone who makes decisions that change and impact the world daily
gets paid $400,000 a year. An undrafted rookie beginning his new and not so very bright professional career in major league baseball makes way
over that amount. Additionally firefighters, police officers, and doctors risk their lives everyday to save others for a fraction of what athletes
make. Lawyers, business men, and astronauts are people who try and change the world for the better by exploring new ideas and the unknown and are
also paid a fraction of what athletes are. A high paid type of doctor makes just over $500,000 a year, a lawyer with over a decade of experience is paid
up to $170,000 a year, the highest paid astronaut is paid $107,000 a year, and the average an above mediocre business man is paid $70,000 a year. To

Many different variables play a part in finding a solution to help end child labor. Unfortunately, this form of labor plays a large role in Mexico's
economy. Although the country has anti–child labor laws, the children of Mexico are forced to work for a variety of reasons. Most families force the
children to work due to their struggle with poverty and lack of income. Although some organizations (like the North American Free Trade Agreement)
look at solutions to help boost Mexico's economy, large international corporations enter the country's struggling economy capitalizing on it's low cost
manufacturing and wages, thus forcing children to work. Solutions must be looked at in order to stop kids from working their childhood away instead
of getting an education to ultimately help Mexico's economy.
The link between Mexico and poverty is a large reason why children are forced to work in factories. Poverty began to be an issue for Mexico starting
many years ago. In the 1940s, when industrialization began taking place, Mexico's economy was growing at a rate of 6 per cent per year (Latapi
and Gonzalez). This increase in the economy created two new social classes: the urban middle class and the new working class. By the late 70s, at
least half of the working middle class held jobs related in manufacturing (Latapi and Gonzalez). This employment gave wages high enough to allow one
worker the

BioHemi, Inc. Response In the case of BioHemi's old product, the decision on what to do is a difficult one. When meeting with the team I would
consider the potential loss or gain when it comes to selling this product. If we decided to not continue the sale of the old product, then the company
would face an automatic loss of 37.5 million dollars due to wasted inventory. We would also be facing a loss regarding the fixed price contracts
because the company would not be generating enough profit to cover them. On the other hand if we did continue to sell the old product we would not

Hopefully by the time we sell the 500,000 units of old product, we will have perfected the new one enough to only rely on that. If not, we as a
company would need to change our strategy. We would not be able to continue producing the old product when it is emitting AIDS to the consumers.
Deciding to cease the sale of the old product is the most obvious and ethical choice. It would eliminate the contamination of HIV. However, the
company would suffer immensely from this. Although I would recommend to continue to sell the old product, I would do it as ethically responsible as
possible. As a member of the Institute of Management Accountants, I have to abide by the standards of ethical conduct. This case specifically
addresses the issue of integrity. This product transmits AIDS, but somehow we need to be able to continue to sell the product.
I would comply to these standards by addressing the hazard that comes with taking this treatment product. Much like the Surgeon General Warning on
cigarettes, I would convey to the team that it would be in our best interest to fully disclose all risks involved. This would allow people who wanted or
needed to take this treatment knowledge of the possibility of obtaining AIDS. This may result in a decrease insales for the product, but I believe that
there will still be consumers out there willing to buy the product (perhaps it is cheaper than the new emulsified products). Some consumers

Essay about The Debt: An Economic Catastrophe
The Debt: An Economic Catastrophe
Few national economic issues have generated the same kind of concern as has the federal debt problem of Canada. There is a pressing need for
long–term policies to lift Canada out of the national debt hole it is in. Eliminating the debt will not only free up money being spent on interest and
reduce taxes, but make
Canada a more feasible place for future generations to live and work.
Interest on the debt has eroded the government's ability to fund its own operations and essential social services. Presently, thirty–five cents of every tax
dollar the federal government raises is used for interest payments alone on the debt. Though there have been operating surpluses within the federal
government, they have ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Second, a restraint on government spending by means of cutbacks may be a path, possibly a difficult one, to the road of eliminating our federal debt.
Either way, it will be the young citizens of Canada that will have to pay for previous government overspending. "Our national debt, after all, is an
internal debt, owed not only by the nation but to the nation. If our children have to pay the interest, they will pay that interest to themselves." (Franklin
Delano Roosevelt)
As our debt continues to increase, so do the taxes that Canadians are paying.
Thirty–five percent of our taxes are being paid to reduce the debt, leaving the rest to fund government programs such as health care, education, and job
creation. "For every benefit you receive a tax is levied." (Ralph Waldo
Emerson) However, a long look must be taken at how the tax dollar is distributed to various programs to determine which ones need more funding,
and which should be receiving less. There is, by no means, excess money to spend foolishly; that is what got Canada into the financial crisis it remains
in today.
But by restricting the growth of program payments, eliminating some programs and cutting back on others, and by having higher income individuals
pay back a greater share, dollars are now being reassigned to the most essential programs and to needy Canadians. The battle to reduce tax waste and
increase efficiency continues across all government departments. Nevertheless, Canadians now claim

Does The Bad Outweigh The Good On The Internet?
"The Internet is the Petri dish of humanity. We can 't control what grows in it, but we don 't have to watch either." (Tiffany Madison) Whether
middle aged or a millennial, everybody has something different to say in opinion about the World Wide Web. In any situation both good and bad
can come from such a vast network of information. Whether or not these figures are true or false, that is a different story. And so be this, with each
day comes more and more posted information for interested browsers to come across. Our lives are being exceedingly affected by the usage of the
internet and how it drives our daily decisions. This leaves us with a major question: Does the bad outweigh the good on the internet? In today's media,
attention and views are a large source of money for many. Most corporations and/or celebrities make more than enough money to live prosperously
thanks to the internet. Many people click away at advertisements and compelling titles without remembering their webpage opening is putting money
in these peoples' bank accounts. A lot like us as students are taught at a very young age; you cannot create a successful piece if the viewer is not

Should Alcohol Be Allowed At College Sporting Event Venues?
Resolution: Alcohol should not be allowed at college sporting event venues to help control spectator/fan behavior.
Side: No, alcohol should be allowed at college sporting event venues.
I.Introductory statement: The debate if alcohol should be allowed at college sports venues can be very intense. Many fans that go to these events
want to enjoy a cold beverage and should not be restricted to enjoying that beverage just because they are at a college sporting event. According to
ESPN.com news services, there are only 21 on–campus football stadiums that allow drinking (2014, para. 3). This number should be higher because
there are benefits to allowing alcohol at a college sporting event. Just because a few fans get too rowdy doesn't mean everyone should suffer and not
be allowed to drink.
II.Argument One: Not all dysfunctional behavior is caused from alcohol.
a.According to a study conducted by Wakefield and Wann, not all dysfunctional behavior is caused from drinking alcohol. Some of this dysfunctional
behavior can be caused because of how highly identified a fan may be with a team (2006).
b.Again within Wakefield and Wann's studies they explained about how fan violence occurs within troubled fans. Their research did not show a huge
connection between alcohol and fan violence (2006, p. 179–180).
III.Argument Two: The alcohol that is bought is revenue for thestadium and the school.

Once upon a time, there was a girl who was living a perfect life in a top notched spotless house. She lived in a massive mansion that was four stories

One day, Madison was going to attend a social gathering so she had to dress to impress. She wanted the dress to be one of a kind, a dress that'll

milk and some cookies. Misty ran to the kitchen while stumbling a little bit because she knew that Madison would deduct her check if she wasn't quick

When Misty arrived at Madison's room, she accidentally tripped over a shoe and spilled the milk all over Madison. The milk had splattered all over her
gown and Madison was in complete shock and began to cry. She threw the table over, ripped her dress, and looked like she was blowing air out of her

I've never seen anything like it. It's so, priceless. So, very, intimidating. It's like thousands of diamonds clumped together to form a new one. And

Now, does that make me a thief, you should ask? Well, you'll need to keep going as I'm about to tell you the story of my attempt on getting it. It all

carrying the oversized check to present to the audience.

Athletes Overpaid? Essay
When people think of the names Tiger Woods, Kobe Bryant, Alex Rodriguez, and Oscar de la Hoya they think "superstar", "professional athlete", and
"wealthy". Some even think "overpaid" while others believe that they deserve every penny they earn. In 2010 NBA player Kobe Bryant signed a
three–year $90 million extension with the Los Angeles Lakers (Source 2).Which equals $30 million per year. In 2009 Kobe Bryant's contract was
worth $25 million a year (Source 2). He received a five million dollar pay increase although he is an aging player. Between 2009 and 2010 professional
golfer Tiger Woodsearned an astounding $111 million (Source 1). That huge payday took Woods from a multi
–millionaire to a billionaire. In 2010

They are not finding cures for fatal diseases, teaching students crucial life knowledge, or discovering new things about the world and planets
beyond. People who are shaping tomorrow's brighter day are doctors, teachers, scientists, and governing officials. These are the people who help
ensure the world will get a little better day by day. Not Alex Rodriguez and the New York Yankees. Most professional athletes don't give their time
or money to help troops, poor countries, or for better education of children. Maybe once or twice a year a couple of athletes get together and build a
playground or have some sort of sporting activity in their home towns. Even these activities don't take place very often. The average firefighter or
police officer makes $30,000–$40,000 a year (Source 3 & 4). They are the ones who risk their lives every day to keep others safe and they don't even
make a fraction of what professional athletes do. Those who labor the most in society like city workers, janitors, and factory workers receive the least
amount of pay even though they have some of the hardest jobs. While professional athletes receive large sums of money to play in a game that will last
no longer than four hours. Sports teams sign players to help them win championships although this often doesn't happen. So in the end they pay huge
amounts of money to bring in someone who still does not get the main goal

My Reflection Of A Lesson Of Living Through My Life
In 2010, my parents decided to get divorced. I lived in the Fairless Hills/Levittown area and moved to many different condos, apartments, and
houses. I did not move to Bethlehem until 2012, I would be in fifth grade attending Spring Garden Elementary School. I was new to the school and
I had no friends at all. It was really hard for me get rid of all my friends just to start all over again. I did not fit in at first, but eventually I made
friends that I still have today. From reading Persepolis: The Story Of A Childhood, it taught me lessons that I have not been reminded of for quite
some time. Lessons that are deemed useful when living through my life. From Satrapi's memoir, I learned that I should be true to myself, I
should never take life for granted, and my life is not as perfect as it seems to be. I learned that I should always be true to myself. When I am with
certain friends or in different places, I tend to change my personality based off of where I am. I want to be who I am all the time, I do not want to
change my personality in certain conditions. It is not that I do different things with different people, but I act differently around different people. I
should not be able to change myself so quickly. Satrapi's grandmother reminds me of this lesson, when she is talking to Satrapi. Towards the end of the
book, Satrapi is being sent to Austria, since it is safer there. Before leaving, her grandmother visits and stays the night over Satrapi's house. She tells

At the time both Stoppelman and Simmons were employees of PayPal. Initially they created the service for only San Francisco, CA where Yelp's

That same year,2005, Stoppelman and Simmons raised $5 million from Bessemer Ventures, the VC firm behind Verisign and Skype, among others, and
then through November of 2006 another $10 million from Benchmark Capital. Their strategy at the time was to build a quick following in any given
market. Once an establishment obtained multiple reviews, a Yelp salesperson would call the business to make them aware that reviews of the
establishment existed on Yelp.com and offered a window sticker to post on the business and attempted to sell them on ads and obtain sponsorships. At

Taking A Stand Against Wal-Mart Essay Example

  • 1. Taking A Stand Against Wal-Mart Essay example Wal–Mart is currently the largest corporation in America. Currently, it drags in about 288.189 billion dollars yearly with sales, up 11% since 2003, and expected to reach an even higher level this year with people looking for "great" deals during this struggling economy. Wal–Mart also employs about 1.3 million people in America and 1.8 million overseas. Makes sense doesn't it? Large company, large sales, large workforce; the big three needed for a successful business platform. But, hold the phone, what's this? Wal–Mart needs to have expenditures to pay for new building sites, pay wages, and give benefits to its employees. How can they complete that big three and still turn a large profit to be in the Fortune 500 number one spot for the... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... There are just a couple of flaws: work is guaranteed unless the worker starts to complain about anything, that's what the "hiring now" sign is for, to replace it (they're assets, not people). The wage will earn the worker a living, if they shop at Wal–Mart, its minimum i.e. Wal–Mart is the only place to shop they can afford. And insurance coverage has a 50% co–pay (if they're really lucky), just pray they don't need any expensive prescriptions (but top–ramen tastes good everyday doesn't it?). Wal–Mart has money handed to them on a silver platter to pay for the creation of a new building, and doles out, quite literally, the bare minimum to its employees to ensure they shop back at the mother ship: another Wal–Mart. This business model ingeniously eliminates waste, almost creating a perfect symbiosis of money paid to employee, forced to pay it back to Wal–Mart, while Wal–Mart sold a 15 cent gizmo, for 4.99. That's how to make a profit baby! Now how big of a deal is Wal–Mart joining (invading) a community? Take away the (multi) million dollar subsidies, false (pathological lie) advertisement adds, lack of employee (human) rights, and ability to challenge (bury/crush /systematically slaughter) friendly (it's WAR) business competition... Aside from that Wal –Mart only has violated EPA regulation in over 20 states (and counting), because who really needs the environment? Community giving is at record lows, but those homeless ... • 2. Google Essay Today, everyone uses Google. Google, Inc. is considered the considered to be the second most valuable brand in the world. More than 70 percent of searches are made using Google. Most people use it multiple times a day, and would not be able to function without it. Google was founded by Sergey Brin and Larry Page, two students in Stanford University. While they were in school, Brin decided a good idea for his doctoral thesis was to find a practical and easy method of finding information from huge amounts of data. At the time, the internet was very unorganized and the first search engines were not so effective. While Page was using AltaVista, a new search engine, he found information about links. This was a new idea, where a person could ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... After they realized how popular their search engine was getting, they tried to sell it but their offers were rejected. Eventually they decided to leave school and find investors. They were incorporated on September 4, 1998 and moved their business into a garage. After five months they needed a bigger space and moved to an office in Palo Alto. They managed to secure more funds but their original idea of licensing their software was not making enough money. They realized they would have to sell advertising to make money. They were initially reluctant to do this because they thought other search engines that did this biased their results in favor of the companies they were advertising. They felt that such subjectivism in results was unfair to their users who wanted the best and most accurate information and that it went against their motto "Don't be evil," which was later changed to "You can make money without doing evil." Brin and Page eventually decided they would split their results into two sections, with advertisements on the right and regular, unbiased results on the left. However, they refused to advertise certain things such as guns, illegal drugs, cigarettes, or political attacks. Google expanded quickly, as people started to be able to use Google on their phones as well as their computers. Page and Brin also made agreements companies such as Yahoo, AOL, and EarthLink, and allowed other sites to put theGoogle search box on their web pages, and ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 3. The Negative Effects Of Gofundme Have you or your family ever needed financial help? Have you ever been willing to ask anyone for it? GoFundMe is just one example of a crowdfunding website. Crowdfunding is a type of platform where anyone that has a specific URL can donate any amount to a cause they may support. There are several people who use these sites for good well thought out campaigns, however there are others that try to get donors just from comedic effects. The people that use GoFundMe for impractical reasons give it a bad connotation and draw from people who actually need it. While GoFundMe has successfully raised money for families in need, the reality is our society as a whole is too corrupt to make it a trustworthy site and therefore its reputation is tainted.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... To those who have a negative opinion to such sites as GoFundMe, I understand why. The story of Elza was empowering, and the next examples I have are disappointing at best. One of the most inappropriate campaigns was that of Victoria Byers. The twenty–six year old woman was tired of men trying to hit on her over Facebook, she made a campaign for those men to pay for her bills and beautification is exchange for pleasure. GoFundMe tried taking it down as to say it was against their policies but Victoria got a lawyer and ended up keeping her post and all the money she raised. After sixteen days, she raised sixty dollars and took the campaign down. GoFundMe is infamous for fans trying to raise money for their celebrity idols. In this particular instance, Seattle Seahawk fans saw Ciara – singer and partner of Russell Wilson – as a jinx on Wilson's career. Their goal was to raise $50,000 in order to coax Wilson to kick her to the curb. As their logic may have been flawless, $50,000 isn't even a dent to what Wilson makes per game. It most likely wouldn't have changed a thing. On a personal note, GoFundMe is a useful tool that shouldn't be available to everyone. Before the internet, fundraising was the only way to receive donations without the need for a non–profit organization to represent you. The crowdfunding site has its uses but wouldn't it be more effective to represent yourself in person? There are ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Retirement Planning Retirement Planning The assignment being completed by the author of this paper asks the author to take half a million euros and take one of two general strategies with the money. The first strategy is to invest in a pension with a life insurance company and have that be the income that pays a pension the rest of one's life and the other is to self–manage and invest the money whilst taking annual withdrawals to pay bills and otherwise live one's life. Both options will be explored but a firm choice shall be made between the two in the content of this report. Self–Invest Taking a self–invest strategy may seem like the smart move here given the amount of money that is saved up, and for two major reasons. First, half a million euros is a lot of cash and would last quite a while with normal spending even if no more investment return is ever garnered again. For example, the average income in Great Britain is 25,000 euros and that would make this half a million Euros last the better part of 20 years with no additional investment return required (BBC, 2013). The other upside is that there are no commissions or other service fees, at least not from a personal investment manager or life insurance company, in play and that would be a good amount of savings over the 2–3 decades that would be retirement. The downside is that self–investment from a clear novice in terms of investment knowledge would not be the wisest of ideas and could actually lead to lesser returns than could ... A public good is a good that individuals can consume without reducing its availability to other individuals. These goods are typically referred to as nonrivalrous and nonexcludable. A common resource or "open access resource" is a resource that provides users with tangible benefits. A concern that common resources have is overuse. When talking about overuse it is very natural to mention the free rider problem that many countries are facing and especially Australia. The theory behind a free rider is a person who benefits from a good that possibly have been made or paid for by others without contributing to the good themselves. In the Africa Progress Panel's 2015 report, it was stated that Australia has gone from a leadership to a free–rider status when talking about climate diplomacy. It is believed that developed countries such as Australia are causing the majority of the problem through for example gas emissions. A research shows that many of the countries who are the ones creating the most gas emitting are also the ones who are least vulnerable to climate change and are essentially the free riders. It is here important to remember that a modern example of a common resource is climate stability. The problem with Australia essentially being a free rider is that Australia is a country with a lot of wildlife and nature. Many people travel to Australia to experience the nature and wildlife but if they continue being free riders it can result in lower GDP and lower income per capita because the wildlife and beautiful nature with high possibility would be ruined thus fewer people would want to visit the country. Although the country has anti–child labor laws, the children of Mexico are forced to work for a variety of reasons. Most families force the children to work due to their struggle with poverty and lack of income. Although some organizations (like the North American Free Trade Agreement) look at solutions to help boost Mexico's economy, large international corporations enter the country's struggling economy capitalizing on it's low cost manufacturing and wages, thus forcing children to work. Solutions must be looked at in order to stop kids from working their childhood away instead of getting an education to ultimately help Mexico's economy. The link between Mexico and poverty is a large reason why children are forced to work in factories. Poverty began to be an issue for Mexico starting many years ago. • 29. Essay about The Debt: An Economic Catastrophe The Debt: An Economic Catastrophe Few national economic issues have generated the same kind of concern as has the federal debt problem of Canada. There is a pressing need for long–term policies to lift Canada out of the national debt hole it is in. Eliminating the debt will not only free up money being spent on interest and reduce taxes, but make Canada a more feasible place for future generations to live and work. Interest on the debt has eroded the government's ability to fund its own operations and essential social services. Presently, thirty–five cents of every tax dollar the federal government raises is used for interest payments alone on the debt. Though there have been operating surpluses within the federal government, they have ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Second, a restraint on government spending by means of cutbacks may be a path, possibly a difficult one, to the road of eliminating our federal debt. Either way, it will be the young citizens of Canada that will have to pay for previous government overspending. "Our national debt, after all, is an internal debt, owed not only by the nation but to the nation. If our children have to pay the interest, they will pay that interest to themselves." (Franklin Delano Roosevelt) As our debt continues to increase, so do the taxes that Canadians are paying. Thirty–five percent of our taxes are being paid to reduce the debt, leaving the rest to fund government programs such as health care, education, and job creation. "For every benefit you receive a tax is levied." (Ralph Waldo Emerson) However, a long look must be taken at how the tax dollar is distributed to various programs to determine which ones need more funding, and which should be receiving less. There is, by no means, excess money to spend foolishly; that is what got Canada into the financial crisis it remains in today. But by restricting the growth of program payments, eliminating some programs and cutting back on others, and by having higher income individuals pay back a greater share, dollars are now being reassigned to the most essential programs and to needy Canadians. The battle to reduce tax waste and increase efficiency continues across all government departments. Nevertheless, Canadians now claim

(Tiffany Madison) Whether middle aged or a millennial, everybody has something different to say in opinion about the World Wide Web. In any situation both good and bad can come from such a vast network of information. Whether or not these figures are true or false, that is a different story. And so be this, with each day comes more and more posted information for interested browsers to come across. Our lives are being exceedingly affected by the usage of the internet and how it drives our daily decisions. This leaves us with a major question: Does the bad outweigh the good on the internet? • 35. Many fans that go to these events want to enjoy a cold beverage and should not be restricted to enjoying that beverage just because they are at a college sporting event. According to ESPN.com news services, there are only 21 on–campus football stadiums that allow drinking (2014, para. 3). This number should be higher because there are benefits to allowing alcohol at a college sporting event. Just because a few fans get too rowdy doesn't mean everyone should suffer and not be allowed to drink. II.Argument One: Not all dysfunctional behavior is caused from alcohol. a.According to a study conducted by Wakefield and Wann, not all dysfunctional behavior is caused from drinking alcohol. Some of this dysfunctional behavior can be caused because of how highly identified a fan may be with a team (2006). b.Again within Wakefield and Wann's studies they explained about how fan violence occurs within troubled fans. Their research did not show a huge connection between alcohol and fan violence (2006, p. 179–180). So here is my dream alternated by me, but told in a fairytale form. Once upon a time, there was a girl who was living a perfect life in a top notched spotless house. She lived in a massive mansion that was four stories high with an elevator in it. Her name was Madison, a 16–year–old girl who cried over spilled milk. From time to time, she would throw money at commoners and say it was a good deed. Her maid, the same age as her, had an imperfect life with a flawed house. She slept in a room with four of her siblings, struggling to find a comfortable place to sleep at. Her name was Misty, a girl who lived in a financially unstable house because she wasn't as "Lucky" like Madison was. One day, Madison was going to attend a social gathering so she had to dress to impress. She wanted the dress to be one of a kind, a dress that'll make people resentful. So she went shopping and found this gorgeous dress, she begged her dad to get her this dazzling gown with 10,000 carats of gems that were used to decorate it. Of course, the dad would not decline his daughter's wishes and bought the 1 million dollar dress without an ounce of hesitation. Later on, Madison decided to try on her new dress at home just to see if it was a perfect fit. She asked Misty to go fetch her a glass of milk and some cookies. Misty ran to the kitchen while stumbling a little bit because she knew that Madison would deduct her check if she wasn't quick enough. When Misty arrived at Madison's room, she accidentally tripped over a shoe and spilled the milk all over Madison. The milk had splattered all over her gown and Madison was in complete shock and began to cry. She threw the table over, ripped her dress, and looked like she was blowing air out of her ears.
