3. National flag
The Indian national flag is a horizontal tricolour with a
band of deep saffron on top, white in the middle and
dark green at the bottom. The 3 bands always in equal
proportion to each other. In the centre of the white
band is a navy blue chakra with 24 spokes. This has
been adapted from sculpted wheel, which appears on
the abacus of the SARNATH LION CAPITAL
of Ashoka, the ancient Indian emperor. The width and
length of the tricolour are always in proportion of 2.3
with the blue chakra touching the ORANGE and GREEN
bands. The flag was designed by PINGALI VENKAYYA
