Q.2 Write all components of Krashen’s Natural Approach to Language teaching, and
how far this approach is helpful for language teachers and learners? (20)

classroom management supports and complements another? Justify it with suitable

ASSIGNMENT No. 2
The 2nd
assignment is based on a research oriented activity. You are required to study the
relevant area/conduct research and prepare a brief report on your findings in the area
given. You will then have to submit one copy of the report to the tutor within the
scheduled period and at the same time present the report/project in one of the tutorials

2. (the schedule/plan of the tutorials for the presentation will be intimated by the tutor
concerned or the regional Director).
The assignment carries 100 marks: 40 marks are allocated for the written report and 60
for the oral presentation. To pass this course you have to secure at least 40% marks in
each of above components. If you fail to obtain the required marks, you would be
unfortunately declared fail even if you have passed the written exam and other
assignment of the course.
A few guidelines for the written report and presentation:
a) The written report should have an introduction, body and conclusion. It should be
written in clear, concise and correct English.
b) It should be 5-8 double spaced typed/handwritten pages.
c) APA 6th
edition should be followed for references.
d) You must go through five books and five research papers for this project.
e) The presentation is to be assessed and evaluated mainly in
i. Contents of the assignment/report
ii. Communication skills
iii. Language Accuracy
iv. Language Fluency
v. Presentation style
You may use charts or any other relevant material for impressive presentation with
permission of your tutor.
Attempt one of the following activities:
i. Define authentic material in detail. How it can be considered as a motivational tool
for the ESL Classroom? Discuss different uses of authentic material with examples.
Design a lesson regarding any one skill from four language skills. Various
activities must be incorporated in it. Practice the plan in the classroom and
comment on its effectiveness as findings and recommendations and at the same
time highlight those difficulties which students face when using authentic
materials..
Or
ii. In our educational field, we come across different types of syllabi, which are
prescribed by different educational institutes. Keeping in mind the above, evaluate
and analyse different English text-books, prescribed by any textbook board to see
how the syllabi are designed and implemented in different set-ups.
