7. After I Trained My Replacement, My Job was Outsourced to
India – 2014.
“Earlier this year my boss, the director of finance, told me that because
of economic conditions, my position as an auditor was to be outsourced to a
company based in India. I was given a schedule of how my work would be
transitioned and told that I would train an employee from the outsourcing
company.
I trained the outsourcing employees and started the transition in March,
but I still had to answer their questions and frequently correct errors. The
transition is far behind schedule. I spoke with the director of human resources
about my status in June and he said he was not aware of my situation. After
another meeting with my boss, he told me that I would have another month. I
will be outsourced by the end of this year so the company can save money.
The thought of being outsourced is nerve-racking. Finances are a
constant worry, and I feel as though future jobs will do the same. I worked for
this job for over 13 years, and this is the end result…”

before that she joins a queue of people to draw water from a public tap. … her room
doesn’t have electricity, so to keep from stifling, she leaves the door open. Fear of
intruders keeps her awake.
