She was most likely chosen for background and studies of glaciers. Ken Caldera: Professor at Stanford who studies acidification of the ocean, intervention on the climate systems, mass-extinction in earth’s past, and our carbon problems. I think this man was chose for his specific studies of the climate and past events of this. Bill Easterling: Dean of the college of Earth and Mineral sciences at Pennsylvania State University. He studies how global warming could affect the earth’s food. This man was chosen for his knowledge on the temperatures affecting the world’s crops. Stephen Schneider: Assesses impact of climate changes due to humans on the economy and ecology. He was chosen for the knowledge he possesses on how the climate can affect our economy. ,[object Object],Some predictions say climate change caused by humans could cause extinction in the ocean, redraw coastlines, and diminish food supplies If humans even had a part in global warming isn’t this just like other climate cycles? This is different because the North and South poles are losing ice into the ocean at the same time. Warming due to any natural cause usually takes place over millions of years unlike what is happening right now. Food demand is expected to be doubled for large increase in population later in the 21st century and it might not be possible to produce enough food. The ice sheets are decreasing and the global temperature went up .75 degrees Celsius. The potential effects of this are unknown. People need to take charge as leaders against fossil fuels and for safe energy. The change to none gas emitting energy could cost trillions. Most compelling reason global warming has to do with man is because the stratosphere is cooling while everything below it is being heated showing the gases are being trapped causing greenhouse effect. ,[object Object],After reading this article, describe how your current knowledge of climate change was altered or validated. I understand and believe there is warming of the Earth going on, but I still do not see how man has majorly impacted the Earth’s climate to warming it so quickly. I believe warming could be caused by other factors such as plate tectonics and the Earth’s orbit around the sun. I would like to see specific proof that man is releasing all of these gases and it is not naturally coming from the Earth in far larger amounts than man can produce. ,[object Object],The data collected in those 2 years has obviously been able to show scientists more about what’s going on and what may be the main cause of the warming. Also those scientists have may looked back and changed their minds about something.
