1. The Plan sheet
In order to help you write your final Extended Essay you are allowed to take
an A4 plan sheet into the write-up session.
This cannot be longer than 200 words and must be submitted along with
the final Extended Essay.
*** If you fail to submit an essay plan or exceed the 200 word limit, you
will lose up to ten marks.
What you can include






A plan which outlines all the factors you will discuss
Detail these factors in the order you intend to discuss them
Include evidence to support your factors
Include historians’ quotations or views
Show how to intend to introduce and conclude your essay
Mind maps and colour can be used
What you cannot include
 Unrecognised acronyms e.g. WSPU is acceptable for Women’s Social
and Political Union. ROTPA is not for Representation of the People Act
(each letter will be counted as word in this case).
 Normal text only; no pictures, codes, text message speak, etc.
 A simple list of facts without any clear plan for what you will write
*** You should type your final plan. This will make it neat and easy for you
to read when completing the write-up.
