LEADERSHIP
Know the way, go the way and show the way
Designed and delivered by Tanni D. Awa (+237695614947)
Objectives
At the end of the course, you will be
able to
State who is leader.
State the five levels of leadership.
Recognize common leadership
myths.
Define 360 degree leadership.
Discuss practical ways to implement
360 degree leadership.
Be and act like a 360 degree leader.
If you think you can, or you can’t, you are
always right.
The most important thing in life is not to
capitalize on you gains, any fool can do
that, it is to profit from your losses.
If you look at somebody the ways he is, he
only becomes worse, look at them as if they
are what they could be, then they become
what they should be.
Who is a Leader?
Who Is A
Leader
Leadership is both a research area
and a practical skill encompassing the
ability of an individual or organization
to "lead" or guide other individuals,
teams, or entire organizations.
(Wikipedia The Free Encyclopedia,
2019)
“If your actions inspire others to dream
more, learn more, do more and
become more, you are a leader.”
John Quincy Adams
The Five
Levels Of
Leadership
Leaderships
Myths
 The Position Myth
“I can’t lead if I am not the boss”
 The Destination Myth
“When I get to the top then I will learn to
lead.”
 The Inexperience Myth
“When I get to the top, I’ll be in control.”
 The Potential Myth
“I can’t reach my potential if I am not at
the top.”
Leaderships
Myths
The Freedom Myth
“When I get to the top, I will no longer be
limited”
The All or Nothing Myth
“If I can’t get to the top, then I shouldn’t
even try to lead”
What is 360°
Leadership
360 degree leadership has to do
with first leading yourself, leading
those above you (Leading Up),
leader those below you (Leading
Down) and leading those around
you (Leading Across).
1. The Tension
Challenge
The tension of being caught in the
middle and that you authority is
derived from someone else who
can fire you, demote you or
reassign you.
1. The Tension
Challenge
Become comfortable at being at
the middle
Know what to own and what to let
go
Clear lines of responsibilities
Research and get a lot of
information so you can find quick
answers to questions
Never violate your position or the
trust of the leader.
The
Frustration
Challenge
What if you are under an ineffective
leader who are usually insecure,
visionless, overly political, selfish,
controlling, downright incompetent.
The
Frustration
Challenge
Our greatest challenge is not the
leader above us, its our spirit and
attitude(desposition not position).
Do not try to fix the leader, add
value
Build the best relationship you can
with the leader
Identify the leaders’ strength and
weaknesses
Proverb help if the leader request it
The Ego
Challenge
Leaders in the middle turn to be
invisible
Consistent leadership eventually
get noticed
Concentrate more on duties and
production than dreams
Focus on the satisfaction derived
from doing a job well.
Take satisfaction from peer
compliments
3. The
Fulfilment
Challenge
This appears when leaders tend to
like the front more than the middle.
Is the dog in front of the pack
always the leader?
The best leaders gain satisfaction
not from winning the race but
helping the team win.
3. The Vision
Challenge
Championing the vision is more
difficult when you did not create or
take part in its creation.
Do you just attack, ignore, abandon
and leave it?
Or no!!! Invest more in the vision
and it will become your own
4.The
Influence
Challenge
Leading others beyond you position
is not easy.
But people follow leaders that are
consistent, have good character,
high level of commitment and they
one they admire.
Work on the above and people will
love to follow you.

When I look at street kids, how they suffer
beginning on the streets, not sure of their
next meal, not knowing where to sleep and
some sleeping under the bridge, my heart
breaks. Some have no parents and some
with parents that can’t afford a house not
to talk of providing a home for them. See
how they are exposed to immorality, arm
robbery, air borne and sexually
transmissible diseases. When I look all that
I tell myself, I must build a house and
make a home for my family.
What is the Problem the project is
trying to solve?
What is the vision?
Project
Proposal
Imagine a house my kids can
comfortable and have somewhere
and in my presence and in my
absence. A place where they are
sure of their next meal, shielded
from immorality, promiscuity,
diseases and cold. A place that has
that feeling of home. Wouldn’t that
be something to look forward too?
What is the benefits of the project?
What are the deliverables?
What is the Success Criteria?

A three room apartment that is a parlor and two
rooms, two toilets and a kitchen will serve this
purpose perfectly. I will have to first have to get
architect to put on paper this conception. From then I
will know what size and portion of land to get.
From the 25th October to 25th November, the
architect will come up with a blue print for the
house. From the 25th November to march 31st
March I will search and purchase the land. Then
putting of the foundation will take a month. The
whole house will take another 3months. Then
roofing with take a week following by plastering and
painting in fact finishing will take another 2 years.
Every passing year I will dedicate … amount of my
saving for repairs and renovation and this amount of
money for saving so in my absence my family and
