Analysis of the Marketing News Story
An article published on 18 May 2012 on Financial Time, 'Facebook shares already a marketing incentive', was talking about one Hong Kong–based
brokerage company –'8 Securities' making use of the hype surrounding of Facebook's initial public offering, to create values to customers. It also
described how this promising company expanded its brand awareness with zero–sum of advertising investment by giving out US$200 of Facebook
shares to customers who opened an account with them.
In Innotribe Start–up Challenge 2012, the co–founder of 8 Securities, Abdulla mentioned his team was frustrated with the 'legacy technology, not
having product development, and most importantly, no own customer experience' in the traditional industry. Being eager to... Show more content on

Despite of the fact that some customers 'hoping to flip the free Facebook shares immediately after they start trading on Friday are out of luck', 8
Securities' marketing promotion turned to be a win–win situation after all. Its customer received free shares as extra value on top of using new
technology for trading activities, while 8 Securities differentiated itself from its rival by delivering the promotion messages directly to its specific target
customers without huge spending on advertisement. The article mentioned the targeting, though not completely the segmentation, of 8 Securities. The
company strategically targeted at young, tech–savvy people who use the social network. Referring to Table 1 below, 8 Security aimed about 46% (1.6
million) of the total Facebook users in Hong Kong. As such, its marketing promotion through the most popular online social–network channel is proven
most effective in this dot.com era for its reduction in cost and ability to reach out to its target audience instantly and directly globally. However, as
also indicated in Table 1, there are yet more than 50% of the Facebook users is out of its market scope. Porter's theory 'having everything for everyone
is the generic marketing strategy. However, it will definitely 'stuck in the middle' notwithstanding, 8 Securities is suggested to invest more in new but
different product development to cope the rest of groups respectively, so as to increase market share. Demographic

Stereotypes In The New Catacomb Short Story
There are many misconceptions about archaeology. Some misconceptions stem from the stereotypes popularized in media while others come from
the simple lack of knowledge about archaeology. For example, many people do not know that anthropology is the study of humans, since
archaeologists are widely associated with excavations it is common to confuse archaeology with paleontology, which has to do with the study of
ancient life excluding human beings and closely related ancestors. Some popular stereotypes associated with archaeology are that archaeologists are
generally old men or that it is a man's type of work, that archaeologists are overly obsessed with their work, and that archaeology is exceedingly
dangerous. The short story "The New Catacomb" by Sir Arthur Conan Doyle helps reinforce these stereotypes.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

Both archaeologists are white men in their early thirties. Kennedy is described as being handsome while being both strong and weak in nature. Burger
is a contrast to Kennedy physically, socially, and economically. He, like Kennedy, is also a white male. Both men are very well
–educated and speak in
a manner that supports this. Due to his low economic status, Burger's life was a difficult one which is evident on his physical features. Burger is
strong, friendly, but socially stunted. In a sense, his social errs are what many people believe are characteristic of real–life archaeologists, and on a
bigger scale, anthropologists in general. It is thought that archaeologists spend so much time focused on their work that they miss out on a regular
social life and therefore become awkward socially. This, of course, is inaccurate but is reinforced in the minds of the public because of how
archaeologists are portrayed in fictional

my bed thinking. New town means new life. I can get a fresh start. I don't wanna be know as Lucky Lucy Heartfilia the daughter of Jude Heartfila.
I don't wanna be used again. I am so sick and tired of the bullying ever since that happened. I frowned. Tears filled my eyes. Dammit! I promised
myself that I would be over what happened. I guess there is not cure for a broken heart. ~~~ We finally arrived at our house. We are in a town called
Magnolia. I smiled. This is it. I can finally have a new start in life! I can't wait! I looked at our two–story house. I looked at the house next to us and
saw a pink haired guy with nothing, but pants and a scarf. My eyes widened. OH MY MAVIS! WHAT IS HE WEARING. I blushed. No, Lucy.

A New Chapter : A Short Story
A New Chapter It was a frigid afternoon in mid February. As Judy sat on the crowded bus, just a couple seats away from the door; she realized that
the next stop was hers. Judy dreaded as she stood up and got out of her seat. A unsettling feeling filled Judy's mind, a feeling like someone might
have forgotten something. She didn't know what it was, but she sensed something wasn't right. She quickly stopped and turned around to check and
see if her siblings were coming too. She already knew that her younger brother Mark was already off of the bus. While she looked to the back of the
bus, she noticed Donna, Mary, and Carol finally standing up and heading towards the front. As the wave of relief hit Judy, she finally walked off the
bus. As... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
While Judy ate the jello slowly, she savored every sweet bite; and pondered at what might be wrong. She looked around the diner to see if anything
was out of place. She carefully scanned her horizon. All red and jet black booths were still present, the carousel they had in the far left corner was
still on the stage area shinning bright. The candy display was still full of the arrangement of gum and taffies seemed to be untouched, which was
abnormal for the time of day. As Judy sat there puzzled, the manager had come out from the back room looking concerned. The heavier set middle
aged woman leisurely walked up to Judy and her siblings; at that moment she knew that her feelings of uncertainty were right.
The short dark haired woman stopped and stood right in front of the counter she let out a huge sigh. Not knowing what could be wrong, Mark had
asked where his mother was and if she's in the back working. The manager stood there with both of her hands clasp together, thinking of what to say
next. A few minutes had passed which seemed like hours, but finally the woman said the worse possible news that any of Judy or her siblings could
have heard. "Your mother collapsed today, while working this morning about two hours after you all left for school." Those were the words that had
shot a splintering pain into Judy's body. She continued, "Your mom is in the hospital right now, and your aunts Mary and Bernie are coming by in
about 20 minutes." Shocked

The New Norm: A Short Story
Time passed and it seemed as if Nazis in France was the new norm. The streets of Paris ounce occupied by French flags and fleur–de–lys was now
covered in banners displaying swastika's. Many French had become used to carrying around passports and papers that identified them as non–threats.
Any resistance was met with brutal force and quickly eradicated, and anyone accused of resisting in anyway was taken away. Out of all these things
the worst was that the streets started to have less Jewish, Slavic, and colored people. One Saturday morning Charles woke up and went down stairs to his
family. His mother was over the stove making breakfast, and his father reading the paper. After a quick breakfast Charles mother asked him to go to the

New Jersey, a state usually booming with young life, empty and dark. My happiness drains as we move farther into the deep streets. Exhaustion

"Avia you take the kids and follow me closely!" Aksel yelled to me.
"Okay!" I agreed. All of the kids followed me into the car parked in the middle of the other two. Aksel and a few agents got into his car in the front.
Only two agents got into the car into the back that Drew was driving before. Aksel speeds off and I followed him as quickly and closely as I could.
For some reason the car behind us wasn't following, in fact they weren't moving at all.
"What are they doing?" Drew asked, looking frantically around.
"We should stop they might need help." The brown haired girl said. As she said this I watched one of the agents get out of the car and run back into

The CBS Morning News Plagiarism Story
After watching the video, CBS Morning News "Plagiarism" story, my reaction to what is considered plagiarism was not so surprising. I already
knew a lot about this from high school. My school was huge on plagiarism and any papers, or even a 500–word essay, submitted to turnitin.com was
checked. Every teacher there had an account for his or her specific subject. If you plagiarized in school it was my understanding, that it was cause for
suspension, a zero in that class and you would have to retake it the next year. After reading the review, it helped me a lot to understand why plagiarism
is such a crime. There are so many sources available on the internet that explain the way to cite books that are not mine. From my experience, I have

show anything that I may have missed while writing my paper. It is important to have academic integrity because this shows that the student respects
the word of others and themselves. A student who enrolls at the university agrees to respect and acknowledge the research and ideas of others in
his or her work and to abide by those regulations. One form of plagiarism that I am aware of is copying someone else's work and using it as if it
were yours. If someone chooses to use, the ideas of others they must submit the references at the end of the paper or presentation. All students should
take pride in their own work and come up with ideas suited to them. I, for one, have worked too hard to risk my grades and academics. I personally

Rhetorical Analysis Of New York: Stories '
Starting as a small Tumblr blog, Humans of New York eventually developed over time and evolved. In growing popularity, Brandon Stanton, the
blogs creator, eventually decided to turn his famous blog into what some may consider a photobook. When he began accompanying these photos
with quotes, or "stories", is when he noticed his creation come to life. This is where Humans of New York: Stories was born, ready to impact and
affect readers all over the world. Stanton's text provides the reader with a sense of intimacy, allowing for a viewer to feel connected to each
interviewee in their own particular way. This proves as a lesson to the audience that every person has their own importance, as well as an example that
each person's unique story can teach us lessons. After being fired from his job as bond trader, Stanton... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

able to appreciate the magic of their lives. The majority of people interviewed are those who would be considered average, everyday American

New Orleans: A Short Story
"Boy is it warm today!" my mother said with slight disbelief.
"I know. It's pretty warm to only be April" my dad replied.
"I'm sure it will be scorching in New Orleans," they both said in unison.
The newlyweds eagerly navigated through the Philadelphia Airport to make their 9 a.m. plane on time. Louisiana's great cuisine, nightlife, and
landscape had always been an eye–catching vacation destination for my parents. Except, finding time between work and several hospital checkups
made planning a vacation very difficult for the expecting couple.

that day. If my dad secured the job my parents would go home retrieve their items and fly back to New Orleans permanently.
My father rode the streetcar to what seemed to be his predetermined destiny.
"I'm sorry sir but the school is closed today due to the extreme rain," said the gatekeeper at Mount Caramel.
My father traveled all the way across town only to be rejected. The principal rescheduled their meeting for the next day, but my father knew by then
he'd be long gone. He took the rain as a sign. It seemed the world was trying so desperately to tell him something. Even though my parents were in

Essay 'Totalitarianism A New Story'
Throughout history, proletarians, also referred to as 'proles' within the novel 1984, only looked to take action against people directly affecting the
impoverished population negatively. Ignorance plays a crucial role towards the actions of the plebeians. Dystopian societies in particular create
blissfully ignorant citizens who are grateful by the basic necessities provided by the government. Within the critical essay "Totalitarianism" A New
Story? An Old Story?" the author, Laurence Lerner, compares utopias, societies based on advanced in technology and other fields, and dystopias,
societies affiliated with lack of progression and negative aspects of normal societies like torture, as if the two share numerous features. "The central
difficulty, in the writing both of Utopias and Dystopias, concerns newness. Since they describe non–existent societies, the account must draw on the
actual history which they have abolished. That is why nostalgia, in a Utopia, is a so idle a diversion, and in a Dystopia so crucial a pleasure" (Bloom,
2007, p. 74) Utopias are based on a population's contentment while... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
However, numerous qualities from both utopian and dystopian societies are presented in the country of Oceania. Censorship and the removal of
everything related to the ugly truth is a prominent theme within not only the novel 1984, but also the civilization known as Oceania. The Ministry of
Truth changes recounts about past events– including Big Brother's speeches and old news articles– to fit the current circumstances. One can argue that
the censorship can be a utopian feature of which the inner party only wanted to affiliate the government with positive terms and emotions such as

The New Yorker's Short Story 'Ghosts And Empties'
The July 20, 2015 edition of The New Yorker magazine, contains short story "Ghosts and Empties". The name of which drew me in. Typically when
you hear such a title, you gear yourself in the direction of a mystery, suspense, or even a thriller. I was pleasantly surprised when the story took a
different turn than I was expecting. The story follows an unnamed narrator on her nightly walks through her neighborhood. As I read the story "Ghosts
and Empties", many thoughts passed through my head. I thought of how vividly everything was portrayed, the pace at which the sentence structure
proceeded, or for much better explanation, why I chose to take the walk with the narrator. On this walk I enjoyed the same solidity, and calmness in the
stillness... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This is the conclusion our narrator comes to after one of her many walks. She says, "It is terribly true, even if the truth does not comfort, that if you
look at the moon for long enough night after night, as I have, you will see that the old cartoons are correct, that the moon is, in fact, laughing, but
not at us, we who are too small and our lives too fleeting for it to give us any notice at all." Life goes on. This statement brought me to think about
one of my favorite quotes. "A man said to the universe: 'Sir, I exist!' 'However,' replied the universe. 'The fact has not created in me, A sense of
obligation."– Stephen Crane. The world owes me nothing. The first time I read this quote it was a slap in the face. This story slapped me in the
face for a second time. I realized I have gone most of my feeling entitled to many major and even minor things. I live life as though I have done
much to deserve things handed to me on a golden platter rather than through hard work. While so caught up in my own world I may have missed out
on the outside. While thinking about my misfortune, I never thought once about the moments that passed and people I have gone by. The earth keeps
turning without me giving it a reward so then why do expect one from it. The moon laughs at a joke told by Venus about Mars, and I in my lowly
human state walk on in awe of the universe. Life goes on but it is too much of a treasure to

Comparing Freedom In Story Of An Hour And A New England Nun
The Value of Freedom in "The Story of an Hour" and "A New England Nun"
A prevailing theme of American literature in the early nineteenth century was freedom and individualism of characters in a story. The concept of
freedom is portrayed in two pieces of American literature– Kate Chopin's "The Story of an Hour" and Mary E. Wilkins Freeman's "A New England
Nun". In both stories, the two women, Louise and Louisa, are freed from suppressed relationships from their partners. A feeling of joy surpasses both
of the women as they realize they are no longer tied down to a bond–just sovereign and free as can be. Both "The Story of an Hour" and "A New

In "The Story of an Hour", Louisa is a woman full of repression. She already suffered with sadness prior to the news of her husband. In "A New

divergent, too. Both stories display the importance of representations of the typical woman of the nineteenth century. The two characters were set free
of being dependent on another person, their husband or fiancГ©. Louise discovered that her husband died in a train accident, while Louisa discovered
that her fiancГ© of fourteen years cheated on her with another woman. Both women were free to be themselves again for a moment after their sudden

Short Story Analysis Of New Directions By Maya Angeloou
Marisa Santana 07/27/2017 Midterm, Exam 5 Short Story Analysis Analysis of New Directions By Maya Angelou Maya Angelou mirrors her life
of trials with 'New Directions.' her life began without much promise, with tenacity and diligence Angelou was able to brighten her horizon. 'New
Directions' gives readers a relatable and uplifting story of triumph, whose main characters intent was pure and noble. Annie Johnson gives
struggling readers who can relate to her story an ally and speaks to readers morality and emotion. The Setting is an important part of any story, in
the case of 'New Directions', it provides us with a peek into the background and knowledge of the writer and how this story may be close to her
heart. 'New Directions' is set in a segregated Arkansas town in 1903; Angelou's home state, by this revelation one can conclude this story may be
factually based. The Author also mentions several other locations; The One room house, Annies home and setting for the intro of the story. Two
empty lots between a Cotton gin and a Saw Mill, where Annie first sets up shop and begins her venture, it eventually produces a stall equidistant
between the two industries and finally a store. The author uses setting to symbolize life goals being reached, each place in the story larger than the
last and closer to Annie's principal goal, being able to provide for herself and two toddler boys. Annie Johnson is presented as over six feet tall,

Comparing The Story Of The Old Testament And The New...
Utilizing the understanding of the later definition make is extremely easier to incorporate the narrative of the Old Testament and the New Testament
into one chronicle event moving along the time line to teach and understand the mission of the church. It follows the events of "knowing the story" and
where the church came from and where it is headed. Clearly the church is not complete as Jesus has not returned so the work is still on going. The story
continues to be written. Christians today, just as the Jewish people did back during the times of the Old Testament, need to know the story and to do that
we need to know the scriptures.
The question comes down to how the Old Testament and the New Testament would be formed into one narrative to accomplish the goal of enhancing
the understanding of the mission of the church. To accomplish this task, I believe Christopher Wright, in his book, summarized the task very well. If
one looks at the Bible from an actual story line the flow from one Testament to the other does exactly that; it flows. The Old Testament points to the
New Testament and the New Testament builds upon the Old Testament.
"The four major sections of the biblical story are – Creation, Fall, Redemption in History, and New Creation'. If people begin to think in terms of the
Biblical story from Genesis through Revelation and the realization that the story is not over, it will be simpler to understand how all the time eras in
the Bible relate to each other and

The As A New Way Of Telling Stories
The use of disguises in the arts has been around since the introduction of the theater. When eighteenth–century Britain latched onto the concept in
literature, it took on whole different meanings. Disguises no longer had to be masks or wardrobe changes, they could be taking on different personas
or creating different characters. Disguises had become a staple in literature, and authors were creating their own worlds with them. In "The Imperfect
Enjoyment" by John Wilmot, Earl of Rochester, disguises allowed him to create a persona for his work that allows readers to separate the author from
the persona. In Moll Flanders by Daniel Defoe, Defoe acts as both the fake character of Moll Flanders and fake editor of her autobiography to create a

However, once readers delve into the poem, the persona becomes even more apparent. The persona in this piece exudes confidence, even in light
of not being able to perform. While the persona continues to get angry and frustrated over the situation, which Rochester writes in ("And rage at
last confirms me impotent,"), there is still the sense that the persona is disguising a confidence that Rochester himself possesses (Rochester,
2206). For Rochester to take on this piece and create such an elaborate persona, it shows his level of understanding of the poem, as well as his
education, both of which would give him reason to be confident. By employing this in the piece, it allows the writers personality to come through,
while still proving to readers that this is in fact just a persona. The most confident aspect of the piece is Rochester's approach to the female
companion. He unconventionally gives her lines in the poem, such as "All this to love and rapture's due; / Must we not pay a debt to pleasure too?",
which not only creates the idea that the persona did not give up in the poem, but that Rochester is confident in his ability to create something more
powerful from the Avid piece for his persona (Rochester, 2206). The persona created by Rochester in his work allows him to explore subjects without
readers linking them to him. Defoe is able to use disguises

Family Story And Origin Of A New Environment
Every family story and origin is unique to the members of the immediate group, while including the traditions passed from generation to generation.
From the scent of their house and clothes, special holidays, vacation spots, memories, what they eat and how it is served; all of these elements of life
are distinct to a family. These elements are incorporated into what is viewed as normal life in a way that we don't see how our lives differ from those
around us, until we are faced with a situation where things are done differently than us. Many families contain multi – cultural backgrounds, therefore
providing generations with traditions that include folklore from different origins. One of the biggest elements of culture how dishes are served and
prepared. If you ever travel, one of the biggest attractions to a new environment is the food that is served in that area. Some food traditions are
difficult to explain and don't make sense to outsiders, but to the family or local group it is a sense of definition and unity through foodways. In
Louisiana especially, with Cajun culture, we see many festivals and events that are food based, and the pride in the locals that serve it. My family, all
born and raised in the South, participate in the spicy food, crawfish boils, jambalaya sales, gumbo cooking events that this culture offers. From a young
age I can remember waking up on a Saturday morning in the fall, feeling the crisp air flow through the house as we had the windows open,

Gang Violence in New York as Presented by West Side Story
Gang Violence in New York as Presented by West Side Story
Gangs have been occupied New York City for hundreds of years. In the 1950s, the city saw a rise of Latino immigrants from Latin America, the
Caribbean, and notably Puerto Rico as well as a rise in gang violence. Leonard Bernstein's musical West Side Story uses the real–world subject of gang
warfare in New York Cityto depict a modern–day adaptation of Romeo and Juliet by playing into the ethnic divide between the two gangs, but in doing
so it simultaneously acts as a medium through which the uninformed public can learn about the culture of the gangs from this time.
Street gangs in the northeast of the United States came about in three phases. The first phase took place after the American Revolution and consisted
of youth fighting over turf. The second phase of street gangs started to emerge in 1820, which coincided with a rise of immigration. This is when
serious ganging began taking place. In the 1930s and 1940s, the Latino and Black populations grew, and eventually, over two–thirds of the gangs in
New York were Puerto Rican or Black. This third phase of gang activity is the subject for Leonard Bernstein's West Side Story, which features the
Puerto Rican Sharks and the Polish–American Jets and the romantic relationship between two people, one from each gang, which suffers to exist
amidst the violence between the two gangs.
Gang culture was not necessarily known to the public, but the show's creators tried to

On the Reservation, Lenina and Bernard are shocked to see its aged and ill residents; no one in the World State has any visible signs of aging. They

The challenge I faced was in New Jersey at a park. I was with my cousin and we were both 4 at that time. I smacked my mouth on a metal bard and cut
my lip badly. The theme of my challenge would be bravery because I had to be brave and stay strong after what happened. First, I was playing in the
park when I spotted a small little bird. (Also, again I was 4 years old at the time). It was a yellow bird and it reminded me of the cartoon character
Tweety. I followed while pretending to whistle at it like a bird. Then out of nowhere a kid scared it away. "Go away!" I yelled at him. This kid was

In Innotribe Start–up Challenge 2012, the co–founder of 8 Securities, Abdulla mentioned his team was frustrated with the 'legacy technology, not

It is therefore recommended the company to invest in R&D for tailored product for China's market. 'ALL of customers deserve excellent service,
innovative investing products and superior value' is stated in the website of 8 Securities. It is believed that 8 Securities' success is fully tied with the
innovation and product development. Most importantly, without being prevented by the risks of new launches, it is the customer focused mind–set
that has built its strong customer–centric corporate culture leading to the successful products. Well said Kotler (2005), 'Customer satisfaction will only
be achieved if the entire organisation teams up to form a competitively superior customer value.' Future marketers are suggested to pay more attention
to consumer behaviour and customer experience so as to create demanding product/service to bring higher level of expectation and satisfaction to
customers.
In short, this article reported one of 8 Securities' successful online marketing exercises. A few key marketing factors and issues were reflected in this
article, such as promotion, ethic, segmentation, targeting, and the skills needed for future marketers. For the nature of this marketing strategy reported,
this article would be recommended to be included in the chapter titled 'Direct and online marketing: building direct customer relationships' in a revised
edition of Kotler's book.

Essay on Ghost Story of the New Jersey Devil
The New Jersey Devil
The Legend of the Jersey Devil is the most prominent legend that is told to citizens of New Jersey; it is mainly told to elementary school aged
children. There are a variety of settings that the story has; however, the most common location that is used when retelling the tale is Leeds Point, NJ,
which is in the Pine Barrens region of the state. This tale of the Jersey Devil recounts the existence of a supernatural creature that is said to have
terrorized the New Jersey Pine Barrens and surrounding areas for the last 260 years. The teller of this version of the legend is a Caucasian female
who is eighteen years of age and attends the University of Maryland. She comes from a middle class family and believes in the ... Show more content on

After a few months of being confined to the basement, the devil flapped its wings and flew out the chimney, and the Shrouds family never saw it
again. People's animals started to disappear, and they blamed the devil for it. They said that it started to kill and eat the flocks. Some people even
said that the Jersey Devil would terrorize little children because it was jealous it could never be a normal child. Ever since then, the devil has been
spotted in different places in the New Jersey Pine Barrens, making that same screaming noise.
There exist many different types of storylines about the New Jersey Devil. Despite these discrepancies, most of the versions have the name
"Leeds" involved. For example, in the version that I collected, Mrs. Shrouds lived in Leeds Point; however, in other forms of this story, the
woman's name was Mrs. Leeds. Most tales of the New Jersey Devil involve this woman who had one too many children and placed a cursed on her
unborn child. This tale also ties into the study of magic since the mother of the Jersey Devil cursed her unborn child, causing it to be born as the
deformed creature that it is known to be today. In some cases, as in the story described above, numerological superstition plays a roll and the devil is
the thirteenth child, while other versions maintain that the child was actually the sixth or seventh to be born into the family. Another account of the

Pulitzer–Winning correspondent Charles J. Hanley, of The Associated Press was quick to document and disclose the obvious mistreatment arising

Four months after Hanley's article, the conditions at Abu Ghraib finally became international news after several photos were aired on CBS' 60 Minutes

photos ignited; The New Yorker plucked up the courage to post Seymour M Hersh's sickening account of "sadistic, blatant and wanton criminal abuse".

I nodded while stuffing my mouth with pancakes. After she thanked me, she left to go to her meeting.
"Did you see the sky today?" Malik asked
"Yeah, it was supposed to be the perfect day for swimming." I answered. "It's alright we can reschedule."
We were walking to the car, but I felt this strange feeling, like something was going to happen. I brushed it off and continued walking to the car.
"Can I drive?" Malik asked. "No." I answered. "Please!" "No." "Come on!" He pleaded, "I have my permit." "Fine... but don't try anything crazy," I told

Brief summary of the news story
A recent study found that people with schizophrenia had a higher rate of dying from all common causes including heart disease, cancer, respiratory
failure, suicide and diabetes. While the disorder itself does not cause earlier death, it is believed to lead to higher risk factor exposure, such as poor
eating or smoking and likely contributes to greater challenges dealing with other conditions such as diabetes or CVD. Many people with schizophrenia
also complain of their health concerns being ignored or not taken seriously in light of their disorder, causing some health issues to progress farther
without detection than in the general population. 1

many years.
What are some potential problems of reporting of epidemiological research in the news?
Common problems that arise when reporting epidemiological research are misinterpretation, exaggeration of results and failure to address limitations.

overhead to LaGuardia Airport, 20 minutes from my house. The most action my neighborhood has ever seen was during Hurricane Sandy, when a giant
tree collapsed onto the house across the street. However, the Upper West Side, specifically 72nd to 81st street, is my escape. Unlike Flushing, there is
diversity and action on every block. Small cars, bright yellow taxis, and large trucks zoom by, ferociously honking their horns ever few seconds.
People of all races walk the streets– some parents, some children, and some of them just people trying to get to work on time despite the MTA. These
few blocks are my home away from home and provide me the excitement I need to keep me going through the day.
The 72nd street subway station on the intersection of Broadway, 72nd street, and Amsterdam avenue is where it all starts; the excitement, the
adventure. It is at this moment, when I take my first steps out onto the concrete pavement of the Upper West Side, that I feel a rush of exhilaration.
Here, Orthodox Jews with long curly beards and small blank yamakas hand out candles to other Jews while talented people with big dreams sing or
play their hearts out. Around Christmas time, men and women with bright red aprons and small red buckets from the Salvation Army ring a tiny bell
while asking for donations, exclaiming "God bless you" every time

Analysis Of The Marketing News Story

  • 1. Analysis of the Marketing News Story An article published on 18 May 2012 on Financial Time, 'Facebook shares already a marketing incentive', was talking about one Hong Kong–based brokerage company –'8 Securities' making use of the hype surrounding of Facebook's initial public offering, to create values to customers. It also described how this promising company expanded its brand awareness with zero–sum of advertising investment by giving out US$200 of Facebook shares to customers who opened an account with them. In Innotribe Start–up Challenge 2012, the co–founder of 8 Securities, Abdulla mentioned his team was frustrated with the 'legacy technology, not having product development, and most importantly, no own customer experience' in the traditional industry. Being eager to... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Despite of the fact that some customers 'hoping to flip the free Facebook shares immediately after they start trading on Friday are out of luck', 8 Securities' marketing promotion turned to be a win–win situation after all. Its customer received free shares as extra value on top of using new technology for trading activities, while 8 Securities differentiated itself from its rival by delivering the promotion messages directly to its specific target customers without huge spending on advertisement. The article mentioned the targeting, though not completely the segmentation, of 8 Securities. The company strategically targeted at young, tech–savvy people who use the social network. Referring to Table 1 below, 8 Security aimed about 46% (1.6 million) of the total Facebook users in Hong Kong. As such, its marketing promotion through the most popular online social–network channel is proven most effective in this dot.com era for its reduction in cost and ability to reach out to its target audience instantly and directly globally. However, as also indicated in Table 1, there are yet more than 50% of the Facebook users is out of its market scope. Porter's theory 'having everything for everyone is the generic marketing strategy. However, it will definitely 'stuck in the middle' notwithstanding, 8 Securities is suggested to invest more in new but different product development to cope the rest of groups respectively, so as to increase market share. • 2. Stereotypes In The New Catacomb Short Story There are many misconceptions about archaeology. Some misconceptions stem from the stereotypes popularized in media while others come from the simple lack of knowledge about archaeology. For example, many people do not know that anthropology is the study of humans, since archaeologists are widely associated with excavations it is common to confuse archaeology with paleontology, which has to do with the study of ancient life excluding human beings and closely related ancestors. Some popular stereotypes associated with archaeology are that archaeologists are generally old men or that it is a man's type of work, that archaeologists are overly obsessed with their work, and that archaeology is exceedingly dangerous. The short story "The New Catacomb" by Sir Arthur Conan Doyle helps reinforce these stereotypes.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Both archaeologists are white men in their early thirties. Kennedy is described as being handsome while being both strong and weak in nature. Burger is a contrast to Kennedy physically, socially, and economically. He, like Kennedy, is also a white male. Both men are very well –educated and speak in a manner that supports this. Due to his low economic status, Burger's life was a difficult one which is evident on his physical features. Burger is strong, friendly, but socially stunted. In a sense, his social errs are what many people believe are characteristic of real–life archaeologists, and on a bigger scale, anthropologists in general. It is thought that archaeologists spend so much time focused on their work that they miss out on a regular social life and therefore become awkward socially. This, of course, is inaccurate but is reinforced in the minds of the public because of how archaeologists are portrayed in fictional ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

I don't wanna be know as Lucky Lucy Heartfilia the daughter of Jude Heartfila. I don't wanna be used again. I am so sick and tired of the bullying ever since that happened. I frowned. Tears filled my eyes. Dammit! I promised myself that I would be over what happened. I guess there is not cure for a broken heart. ~~~ We finally arrived at our house. We are in a town called Magnolia. I smiled. This is it. I can finally have a new start in life! I can't wait! I looked at our two–story house. I looked at the house next to us and saw a pink haired guy with nothing, but pants and a scarf. My eyes widened. OH MY MAVIS! WHAT IS HE WEARING. I blushed. No, Lucy. Don't blush. • 4. A New Chapter : A Short Story A New Chapter It was a frigid afternoon in mid February. As Judy sat on the crowded bus, just a couple seats away from the door; she realized that the next stop was hers. Judy dreaded as she stood up and got out of her seat. A unsettling feeling filled Judy's mind, a feeling like someone might have forgotten something. She didn't know what it was, but she sensed something wasn't right. She quickly stopped and turned around to check and see if her siblings were coming too. She already knew that her younger brother Mark was already off of the bus. While she looked to the back of the bus, she noticed Donna, Mary, and Carol finally standing up and heading towards the front. As the wave of relief hit Judy, she finally walked off the bus. As... She looked around the diner to see if anything was out of place. She carefully scanned her horizon. All red and jet black booths were still present, the carousel they had in the far left corner was still on the stage area shinning bright. The candy display was still full of the arrangement of gum and taffies seemed to be untouched, which was abnormal for the time of day. As Judy sat there puzzled, the manager had come out from the back room looking concerned. The heavier set middle aged woman leisurely walked up to Judy and her siblings; at that moment she knew that her feelings of uncertainty were right. The short dark haired woman stopped and stood right in front of the counter she let out a huge sigh. Not knowing what could be wrong, Mark had asked where his mother was and if she's in the back working. The manager stood there with both of her hands clasp together, thinking of what to say next. A few minutes had passed which seemed like hours, but finally the woman said the worse possible news that any of Judy or her siblings could have heard. "Your mother collapsed today, while working this morning about two hours after you all left for school." Those were the words that had shot a splintering pain into Judy's body. She continued, "Your mom is in the hospital right now, and your aunts Mary and Bernie are coming by in about 20 minutes." Shocked ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The streets of Paris ounce occupied by French flags and fleur–de–lys was now covered in banners displaying swastika's. Many French had become used to carrying around passports and papers that identified them as non–threats. Any resistance was met with brutal force and quickly eradicated, and anyone accused of resisting in anyway was taken away. Out of all these things the worst was that the streets started to have less Jewish, Slavic, and colored people. One Saturday morning Charles woke up and went down stairs to his family. The whirring of the helicopter was increasing quickly. As she said this I watched one of the agents get out of the car and run back into the house. "Someone went back." The other girl pointed out. I already knew a lot about this from high school. My school was huge on plagiarism and any papers, or even a 500–word essay, submitted to turnitin.com was checked. Every teacher there had an account for his or her specific subject. If you plagiarized in school it was my understanding, that it was cause for suspension, a zero in that class and you would have to retake it the next year. After reading the review, it helped me a lot to understand why plagiarism is such a crime. There are so many sources available on the internet that explain the way to cite books that are not mine. "I'm sure it will be scorching in New Orleans," they both said in unison. The newlyweds eagerly navigated through the Philadelphia Airport to make their 9 a.m. plane on time. Louisiana's great cuisine, nightlife, and landscape had always been an eye–catching vacation destination for my parents. Except, finding time between work and several hospital checkups made planning a vacation very difficult for the expecting couple. • 10. Essay 'Totalitarianism A New Story' Throughout history, proletarians, also referred to as 'proles' within the novel 1984, only looked to take action against people directly affecting the impoverished population negatively. Ignorance plays a crucial role towards the actions of the plebeians. Dystopian societies in particular create blissfully ignorant citizens who are grateful by the basic necessities provided by the government. Within the critical essay "Totalitarianism" A New Story? An Old Story?" the author, Laurence Lerner, compares utopias, societies based on advanced in technology and other fields, and dystopias, societies affiliated with lack of progression and negative aspects of normal societies like torture, as if the two share numerous features. "The central difficulty, in the writing both of Utopias and Dystopias, concerns newness. Since they describe non–existent societies, the account must draw on the actual history which they have abolished. That is why nostalgia, in a Utopia, is a so idle a diversion, and in a Dystopia so crucial a pleasure" (Bloom, 2007, p. 74) Utopias are based on a population's contentment while... • 11. The New Yorker's Short Story 'Ghosts And Empties' The July 20, 2015 edition of The New Yorker magazine, contains short story "Ghosts and Empties". The name of which drew me in. Typically when you hear such a title, you gear yourself in the direction of a mystery, suspense, or even a thriller. I was pleasantly surprised when the story took a different turn than I was expecting. The story follows an unnamed narrator on her nightly walks through her neighborhood. As I read the story "Ghosts and Empties", many thoughts passed through my head. I thought of how vividly everything was portrayed, the pace at which the sentence structure proceeded, or for much better explanation, why I chose to take the walk with the narrator. On this walk I enjoyed the same solidity, and calmness in the stillness... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... This is the conclusion our narrator comes to after one of her many walks. She says, "It is terribly true, even if the truth does not comfort, that if you look at the moon for long enough night after night, as I have, you will see that the old cartoons are correct, that the moon is, in fact, laughing, but not at us, we who are too small and our lives too fleeting for it to give us any notice at all." Life goes on. This statement brought me to think about one of my favorite quotes. "A man said to the universe: 'Sir, I exist!' 'However,' replied the universe. 'The fact has not created in me, A sense of obligation."– Stephen Crane. The world owes me nothing. The first time I read this quote it was a slap in the face. This story slapped me in the face for a second time. I realized I have gone most of my feeling entitled to many major and even minor things. I live life as though I have done much to deserve things handed to me on a golden platter rather than through hard work. While so caught up in my own world I may have missed out on the outside. While thinking about my misfortune, I never thought once about the moments that passed and people I have gone by. The earth keeps turning without me giving it a reward so then why do expect one from it. • 12. Comparing Freedom In Story Of An Hour And A New England Nun The Value of Freedom in "The Story of an Hour" and "A New England Nun" A prevailing theme of American literature in the early nineteenth century was freedom and individualism of characters in a story. The concept of freedom is portrayed in two pieces of American literature– Kate Chopin's "The Story of an Hour" and Mary E. Wilkins Freeman's "A New England Nun". In both stories, the two women, Louise and Louisa, are freed from suppressed relationships from their partners. A feeling of joy surpasses both of the women as they realize they are no longer tied down to a bond–just sovereign and free as can be. Both stories display the importance of representations of the typical woman of the nineteenth century. The two characters were set free of being dependent on another person, their husband or fiancГ©. 'New Directions' gives readers a relatable and uplifting story of triumph, whose main characters intent was pure and noble. • 14. Comparing The Story Of The Old Testament And The New... Utilizing the understanding of the later definition make is extremely easier to incorporate the narrative of the Old Testament and the New Testament into one chronicle event moving along the time line to teach and understand the mission of the church. It follows the events of "knowing the story" and where the church came from and where it is headed. Clearly the church is not complete as Jesus has not returned so the work is still on going. The story continues to be written. Christians today, just as the Jewish people did back during the times of the Old Testament, need to know the story and to do that we need to know the scriptures. The question comes down to how the Old Testament and the New Testament would be formed into one narrative to accomplish the goal of enhancing the understanding of the mission of the church. To accomplish this task, I believe Christopher Wright, in his book, summarized the task very well. If one looks at the Bible from an actual story line the flow from one Testament to the other does exactly that; it flows. The Old Testament points to the New Testament and the New Testament builds upon the Old Testament. "The four major sections of the biblical story are – Creation, Fall, Redemption in History, and New Creation'. If people begin to think in terms of the Biblical story from Genesis through Revelation and the realization that the story is not over, it will be simpler to understand how all the time eras in the Bible relate to each other and ... • 15. The As A New Way Of Telling Stories The use of disguises in the arts has been around since the introduction of the theater. When eighteenth–century Britain latched onto the concept in literature, it took on whole different meanings. Disguises no longer had to be masks or wardrobe changes, they could be taking on different personas or creating different characters. Disguises had become a staple in literature, and authors were creating their own worlds with them. In "The Imperfect Enjoyment" by John Wilmot, Earl of Rochester, disguises allowed him to create a persona for his work that allows readers to separate the author from the persona. In Moll Flanders by Daniel Defoe, Defoe acts as both the fake character of Moll Flanders and fake editor of her autobiography to create a ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... However, once readers delve into the poem, the persona becomes even more apparent. The persona in this piece exudes confidence, even in light of not being able to perform. While the persona continues to get angry and frustrated over the situation, which Rochester writes in ("And rage at last confirms me impotent,"), there is still the sense that the persona is disguising a confidence that Rochester himself possesses (Rochester, 2206). For Rochester to take on this piece and create such an elaborate persona, it shows his level of understanding of the poem, as well as his education, both of which would give him reason to be confident. By employing this in the piece, it allows the writers personality to come through, while still proving to readers that this is in fact just a persona. The most confident aspect of the piece is Rochester's approach to the female companion. He unconventionally gives her lines in the poem, such as "All this to love and rapture's due; / Must we not pay a debt to pleasure too?", which not only creates the idea that the persona did not give up in the poem, but that Rochester is confident in his ability to create something more powerful from the Avid piece for his persona (Rochester, 2206). The persona created by Rochester in his work allows him to explore subjects without readers linking them to him. Defoe is able to use disguises ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Family Story And Origin Of A New Environment Every family story and origin is unique to the members of the immediate group, while including the traditions passed from generation to generation. From the scent of their house and clothes, special holidays, vacation spots, memories, what they eat and how it is served; all of these elements of life are distinct to a family. These elements are incorporated into what is viewed as normal life in a way that we don't see how our lives differ from those around us, until we are faced with a situation where things are done differently than us. Many families contain multi – cultural backgrounds, therefore providing generations with traditions that include folklore from different origins. One of the biggest elements of culture how dishes are served and prepared. If you ever travel, one of the biggest attractions to a new environment is the food that is served in that area. Some food traditions are difficult to explain and don't make sense to outsiders, but to the family or local group it is a sense of definition and unity through foodways. In Louisiana especially, with Cajun culture, we see many festivals and events that are food based, and the pride in the locals that serve it. My family, all born and raised in the South, participate in the spicy food, crawfish boils, jambalaya sales, gumbo cooking events that this culture offers. In the 1950s, the city saw a rise of Latino immigrants from Latin America, the Caribbean, and notably Puerto Rico as well as a rise in gang violence. Leonard Bernstein's musical West Side Story uses the real–world subject of gang warfare in New York Cityto depict a modern–day adaptation of Romeo and Juliet by playing into the ethnic divide between the two gangs, but in doing so it simultaneously acts as a medium through which the uninformed public can learn about the culture of the gangs from this time. The second phase of street gangs started to emerge in 1820, which coincided with a rise of immigration. This is when serious ganging began taking place. In the 1930s and 1940s, the Latino and Black populations grew, and eventually, over two–thirds of the gangs in New York were Puerto Rican or Black. • 28. New Jersey: A Short Story Since the middle of my junior year in high school, I knew I wanted to attend a college that wasn't in my home state of Connecticut. It wasn't that the schools near me weren't good enough. It was just that I wanted to go somewhere different. Somewhere bigger. Somewhere new. So, after a lot of researching and many college visits, I ended up at Rutgers University in the state of New Jersey. I know that the distance isn't that far (only about two and a half hours), but it's still a new territory. Being an out–of–state student made me realize that I had to learn some things that students living in–state just naturally know. I'm about a month away from finishing up my freshmen year at Rutgers and I have some confessions. Here are ten confessions of an ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Although, that would never be the same again. "April Rose McKinley! You're father and I have some very important news to share with you, sweetheart!" my mom hollered from the bottom of the stairs. "Coming!" I yelled in reply. I clambered down the stairs, tripping over my own two feet. It wasn't often that I got a card in the mail, let alone getting told good news in person. "Yah?" • 33. Essay on Ghost Story of the New Jersey Devil The New Jersey Devil The Legend of the Jersey Devil is the most prominent legend that is told to citizens of New Jersey; it is mainly told to elementary school aged children. There are a variety of settings that the story has; however, the most common location that is used when retelling the tale is Leeds Point, NJ, which is in the Pine Barrens region of the state. This tale of the Jersey Devil recounts the existence of a supernatural creature that is said to have terrorized the New Jersey Pine Barrens and surrounding areas for the last 260 years. The teller of this version of the legend is a Caucasian female who is eighteen years of age and attends the University of Maryland. She comes from a middle class family and believes in the ... People's animals started to disappear, and they blamed the devil for it. They said that it started to kill and eat the flocks. Some people even said that the Jersey Devil would terrorize little children because it was jealous it could never be a normal child. Ever since then, the devil has been spotted in different places in the New Jersey Pine Barrens, making that same screaming noise. There exist many different types of storylines about the New Jersey Devil. Despite these discrepancies, most of the versions have the name "Leeds" involved. For example, in the version that I collected, Mrs. Shrouds lived in Leeds Point; however, in other forms of this story, the woman's name was Mrs. Leeds. Most tales of the New Jersey Devil involve this woman who had one too many children and placed a cursed on her unborn child. This tale also ties into the study of magic since the mother of the Jersey Devil cursed her unborn child, causing it to be born as the deformed creature that it is known to be today. In some cases, as in the story described above, numerological superstition plays a roll and the devil is the thirteenth child, while other versions maintain that the child was actually the sixth or seventh to be born into the family. We believe this concept and to demonstrate it we have complied 3 major news stories since the year 2000 that have had a major impact on our society both nationally and internationally – and both for better or for worse. These three examples are not meant to be a collection of the most historic stories of the past 12 years; but rather to demonstrate the power the media holds. It was filling with Iraqi detainees, ranging from petty criminals to former intelligence operatives for Saddam Hussein; all jammed into twelve–by–twelve foot cells that were little more than human holding pits. Even after seven years, the revelation of US Army soldiers abusing detainees at the Abu Ghraib prison are an ugly black mark on the American Presence in Iraq; a permanent scar on the countries reputation. Pulitzer–Winning correspondent Charles J. Hanley, of The Associated Press was quick to document and disclose the obvious mistreatment arising behind closed doors. It led to a series of pieces, culminating in a shocking report on November 1, 2003, based on interviews with sex released detainees. However, this story was 'swept under the rug' and no major newspaper picked up on his reporting after it appeared. The disproportionate weight of credibility given to the statements of U.S officials and or photographic evidence is obvious in the events that unfolded in the year 2004. Four months after Hanley's article, the conditions at Abu Ghraib finally became international news after several photos were aired on CBS' 60 Minutes II, showing soldiers taunting naked Iraqi prisoners forced to assume humiliating positions. Two days later, in addition to the global firestorm that the photos ignited; The New Yorker plucked up the courage to post Seymour M Hersh's sickening account of "sadistic, blatant and wanton criminal abuse". • 38. Analysis Of The News Story Brief summary of the news story A recent study found that people with schizophrenia had a higher rate of dying from all common causes including heart disease, cancer, respiratory failure, suicide and diabetes. While the disorder itself does not cause earlier death, it is believed to lead to higher risk factor exposure, such as poor eating or smoking and likely contributes to greater challenges dealing with other conditions such as diabetes or CVD. Many people with schizophrenia also complain of their health concerns being ignored or not taken seriously in light of their disorder, causing some health issues to progress farther without detection than in the general population. 1 What is the health issue that was addressed in the research ... Every day, I see cars zip by from my living room window, while the occasional airplane flies overhead to LaGuardia Airport, 20 minutes from my house. The most action my neighborhood has ever seen was during Hurricane Sandy, when a giant tree collapsed onto the house across the street. However, the Upper West Side, specifically 72nd to 81st street, is my escape. Unlike Flushing, there is diversity and action on every block. Small cars, bright yellow taxis, and large trucks zoom by, ferociously honking their horns ever few seconds.
