2. What is maintenance?
Actions necessary for retaining or restoring a
piece of equipment, machine, or system to the
specified operable condition to achieve its
maximum useful life.
Activities required or undertaken to conserve as
nearly, and as long, as possible the original
condition of an asset or resource while
compensating for normal wear and tear.
3. There are 4 type of maintennce
1. Preventive maintenance
2. Break maintenance (breakdown)

Preventive maintenance attempts to prevent any
probable failures/breakdowns
It is said that Preventive maintenance is a stich in
time that saves time.
“prevention is better than cure”.
Preventive maintenance refers to maintenance
action performed to keep or retain a
machine/equipment or asset in a satisfactory
operating condition
through periodic inspections, lubrication,
calibration, replacements and overhauls.

6. Breakdown maintenance
Breakdown maintenance is maintenance
performed on equipment that has broken down
and is unusable.
When vehicle become immobilize

These are starting difficulties, puncture , electrical
fault , carburetor fault, fuel supply fault, accident,
etc.
7. Periodic or schedule
maintenance
Significant activities carried out regularly
(according to predetermined schedule) to
maintain the condition or operational status of
vehicle.
For specified time interval
Like weekly, monthly, quarterly, yearly, etc.
For specified distance cover
Like 500km, 1000km,2000km, 5000km , etc.
Avoid road failure
Minimize road breakdown.
