2. Welcome to Kean Startalk Hindi Program May 24 – June 5, 2010
3. Program Overview Kean Startalk Hindi is a tenday immersion summer program for learning Hindi. It is a learner focused program involving extensive use of performance based activities and emerging technologies. The participants will showcase their learning of Hindi and Indian culture on the last day of the program in presence of friends, Kean University faculty and prominent members of Indian American community.
4. Goals At the end of the program, participants will be able to use the language to ask and answer simple questions. They will also be able to perform basic socio-linguistic functions like greeting, thanking someone and accepting thanks, giving and accepting compliments, introducing self and others, expressing needs. Students will also be able to recognize Hindi alphabets, and read and write simple words and sentences.

A Typical Day 8.00 – 8.30 am : Yoga session with Mrs. Harsha 8.30 – 9.00 am : Breakfast 9.00 am – 12.00 noon : Classroom Session-interactive sessions with teachers on the main theme of the program ‘Youth Culture in India’. These sessions, conducted with extensive use of technology, will cover four topics namely Bollywood, Cricket, Indian Fashion and NGO (social work) 12.00 – 1.00 pm : Lunch Break 1.00 – 2.00 pm : Multimedia session with MeldaYildiz 2.00 – 3.00 pm : Dance practice with Smita Miki Patel in preparation of June 5 performance/A talk on Indian Classical music instrument by an expert 3.00 – 3.15 pm : Tea/Coffee Break 3.15 – 4.00 pm : One to one sessions with teachers in small groups

Editor's Notes
The presenter can break here and ask participants to introduce themselves by saying Namaste followed with their names. This can also be done by Savita, Rashmi and Lalit doing this with individual students as suggested by Dr. Gambhir. This will make the session interactive and give students the confidence to start talking in Hindi.
