Blended and Flipped Learning in Instrument Pedagogy Studies discusses new approaches to music education. Blended learning combines online and in-person instruction, while flipped learning has students learn new concepts through videos before class so class time can focus on active learning and peer collaboration. The authors recommend readings on flipped learning in Finland and flipped assessment and describe how these approaches allow students to learn at their own pace, develop portfolios to track growth, and make full use of the teacher's expertise through scaffolding and peer learning opportunities.
