Starting with a brief introduction of the digital culture impact in the design field, the lecture touches personal obsessions made explicit in some projects of the studio.

3. It’s a matter of points of view
In antiquity, the model of nature was based on the IDEAL NUMBERS
and PROPORTIONS: the rules to dimension architecture and to describe
the concept of beauty.
4. Today, backed by 3-400 years, the model of nature is based on
CALCULATION:
- Dimensions are purified by ideals units
- A mathematical language: CURVES -> to describe surfaces
- The whole and the parts related in continuity: discrete and continuous elements
15. “... Envisions a future in which information technologies have advanced so far and
fast that they enable humanity to transcends its biological limitation - tranforming
our lives in a way we can’t imagine“
Bill Gates
17. Hypertext
Hypermedia
A reading and writing space where text, images and
sounds may be interconnected electronically.
1961 Theodor Nelson
18. Different manifestations of the same information.
I can take a physical representation and transform it into information
but it is not obvious how to go from information to representation, it
is not univocal, the information might have other manifestations.

alyze and then understand a process in its devel-
opment, as it unfolds.

Relatioship between the parts

“. . . In that Empire, the Art of Cartography attained such Perfection that the map
of a single Province occupied the entirety of a City, and the map of the Empire,
the entirety of a Province. In time, those Unconscionable Maps no longer satisfied,
and the Cartographers Guilds struck a Map of the Empire whose size was that of
the Empire, and which coincided point for point with it. The following Generations,
who were not so fond of the Study of Cartography as their Forebears had been,
saw that that vast map was Useless, and not without some Pitilessness was it, that
they delivered it up to the Inclemencies of Sun and Winters.”

54. Studio for playground - 2012
A system of forces generated by the neighborhood relationship between the objects
of the context, generates the shape of the whole as a complex of discrete elements.
The hallucinosis: simulation is a tool for the
generation of the Other through the idea
of incompleteness of the system.

56. Studio aggregation FAM - 2011-2012
Physical model study for FAM aggregation
From a modeling strategy that describes surfaces to
a modeling strategy which describes aggregative dy-
namics. From curves to trajectories and the Floating
Atoms Modeling.
To simulate the discrete component of the universe.
