2.  It’s fun! You get to “play” in class!
 Studies have shown that students who take
band perform better in other subjects
 Builds teamwork, cooperation, quick thinking,
and decision making
 Music builds more pathways within the brain
because it is using BOTH sides of the brain

3.  1 weekly 25 minute lesson
 Similar instruments in small groups
 Students are responsible for missed work
 Contact me if you are concerned about the lesson
schedule
 2 weekly 45 minute Full Band Rehearsals
 Mondays and Wednesdays starting in late October

4.  First Beginner Band Concert on February 11
 Mass Band Concert in April
 Spring Band Concert on May 26

 Facial and body characteristics
 5th-8th Grade instrument needs

 We need a few students on ALL instruments
 Maximum of 4 percussionists are needed

8.  Regular practice is vital to success in any
activity…Band is no different!
 15 minutes a day x 4 days a week
 Set up a quiet area in the house for practice
with a music stand and a chair

9.  Rental from Schmitt Music
 Owned instruments
 Have Schmitt Music look at it to make sure it works
 Lesson Book - $10
 Band Supplies – reeds, valve oil, sticks, etc.
 Repairs
 Do not fix instruments at home – leave it to the
professionals!

10.  You can rent from Schmitt Music or any
reputable music store
 Check with me before you leave
 Students need an instrument by
