Gun Control Portrayal Analysis
Gun control has been debated in American History for decades yet it still persists today. We need to take a step back as
a nation and examine the driving force behind gun control and gun violence in America. This is becoming a serious
problem, because every mass shooting takes more lives. The government continues to sit at a standstill with regard to
gun control. The Republicans have no desire to restrict Americans' second amendment right to bear arms. However,
Democrats don't intend to take away an American's right, they seek to limit and remove high caliber guns from the
market. Americans are on different sides when it comes to gun control, but there are those who try to push their
opinions in different forms. American culture is and always has been represented through political cartoons. They can
say a lot about the illustrator's viewpoints and how they are representative of America through color and context. The
political cartoon I chose was on gun control or the lack thereof. The cartoon is of a man standing behind a counter of a
store called "GOP GUNS and GORE" and the sign says that this store is opened 24/7. The man behind the counter is
handing another man a gun with a black shirt that says "kill." The salesman is saying, "You're on the federal watchlist.
But we still want you to have this." The man is standing behind a sign that says, "Terrorists, please form single line."
There are men that stand on said line. All around the store there are signs on the wall

Essay On Weapons In The Civil War
Picture a Civil war battlefield. You see explosions of gunfire and you hear the deafening roar of guns and artillery. The
Civil War was fought in 10,000 places and was the bloodiest war in American history. Over 3 million Americans
fought and more than 600,000 men, almost 2 percent of the population, died in it (About). This war could not have
been fought without many different types of weapons and many advances in weapon technology.
There were many types of weapons used in the Civil War, ranging from cannons to guns to swords to hand grenades,
but both sides used mostly old style smooth–bore muskets or rifled muskets. These were both relatively simple long
guns that were not particularly easy to reload during battle and quite cumbersome ... Show more content on

Some pistols that were used were the Colt Dragoon Revolver, the Starr revolver, the Colt model 1860, the Smith &
Wesson Model 1, the Elgin Cutlass pistol, and the Remington 1858. All of these guns needed bullets, and there was an
array of different calibers and brands to choose from. They ranged in size from the .44 caliber Colt Army to the
powerful .69 caliber Round Shot. Soldiers also used .58 or .69 caliber Minie Ball (a new type of bullet designed
during the Civil War), .58 caliber Gardner, .577 caliber Enfield, .52 caliber Sharps, and .58 caliber Williams Cleaner.
The last major type of weapon used in the Civil War was the cannon. Cannons started the war when Edmund Ruffin
fired the first shot on Fort Sumter, and they helped the Union defeat General Lee and the Confederates at Pickett's
Charge in 1863 (2 Civil). In spite of this, cannons were responsible for less than ten percent of casualties, and some
battles such as the Battle of Hartsville, did not even involve cannons because they were too big and bulky to

.44 Caliber Killer
Murders and crime in the past decades left a negative impact throughout the city of New York. However, these such
crimes were particularly bad in the borough of Brooklyn, New York. Brooklyn, New York during the summers caused
many kids and adults to hang out on their stoops and enjoy being refreshed by an open fire hydrant or as they say in
Brooklyn the "pump". During one of those hot summer days in Brooklyn the unthinkable happens. The news is
reporting that a possible serial killer was on the loose killing young brunette women. The name of the possible serial
killer was David Berkowitz who was dubbed the .44 caliber killer.

Evolution Of The M1 Rifle
The M1 rifle was named after its Canadian–American designer, John Garand. It was the first standard–issue semi–
automatic military rifle. The M–1 Grand was made out of French Canadian–born Garand went to work at the United
States Army's Springfield Armory and began working on a .30 caliber primer actuated blowback Model 1919
prototype. By all accounts the M1 rifle served with distinction. General George S. Patton called it "the greatest battle
implement ever devised" The M1 replaced the bolt action M1903 Springfield as the standard U.S. service rifle in the
mid 1930s, and was itself replaced by the selective fire M14 rifle in the early 1960s. In 1924, twenty–four rifles,
identified as "M1922s", were built at Springfield. This led to a further

My First Car Research Paper
My first car, which is also my current car, is the best/most beautiful car I've ever had. I have a standard 2003
Mitsubishi Eclipse GS, and it has a nice maroon color, unfortunately with some pretty bad sun damage. I think of it as
a female and named her Misty, when I first got her she was perfect just wished that the owner who had before didn't
take off her logo from the front and back. The back bumper is custom as well as the side skirts. After my timing belt
came loose we learned that the owner before me didn't put it on right, so after the mechanics fixed her up the front
bumper was somehow extra loose. Now we have a pretty floppy front bumper, as for other aspects of her outer beauty,
she has a nice spoiler, fogged up headlights, and ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Other than that it really doesn't have any other smell, which can also be bad because under the hot sun my back would
start sweating which gives it a temporal unpleasant smell. I will purchase some car fresheners whenever I get the
chance to. Also, I have some bizarre items inside, I've got a plastic garden flamingo sitting in my trunk right next to
some drum heads, a bag full of paintballs with some slingshots, and some styrofoam. Just some crazy stuff picked up
on my wild adventures with friends, most of the times we would take my car when we're out and about making some
stupid fun decisions. On the passenger side the dash for some reason is a dark blue color, not really matching with the
black and red, I do intend to do something about that soon. I really do love driving my car, putting it into gear and just
smashing in the gas is a great one. When I drove Misty for the first time, also driving standard for the first time, It felt
difficult. Kept stalling it on up hill slopes, grinding her gears, and making very wide turns. Although as I kept driving
her, even when I wasn't supposed to, it started becoming second nature. Now, It's a feeling. Whenever I shift gears it
feels perfect and comfortable. Honestly whenever I drive her I can't resist but speed just a little. It's just a little risky

Mk4 Banshee Case Study
Ominously, CMMG's Mk4 Banshee made its appearance on the national stage this past Friday the 13Th. But the only
thing that could prove to be unlucky about the Missouri gunmaker's wicked new guns are the hoops shooters will have
to go through to put most in their safe.
Yup, the Banshee line is nearly top to bottom NFA regulated – registration, tax, stamps, the whole nine yards. That's
the breaks (illogical as they might be) in the short–barreled rifle world. The company has taken some mercy on the
hearts of those who refuse to jump when the ATF says frog, releasing complementary AR pistols in the line's four
calibers. Even so, CMMG gives ample reasons to contemplate doing the Fed's paper dance; by all accounts, the
backpack big carbines are sound as oak joists and light as a morning breeze. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

The guns are plum featherweight. The pistol–caliber Banshees just trips over the 4.5–pound mark, while the rifle–
caliber configurations are well within a rounding error of a flat 5 pounds. As those who shoot magnum revolvers
know, this is tantalizingly tickling handgun heft – with the benefit of a stock (or brace).
CMMG offers the Banshees in .22LR, 9mm, .45 ACP and .300 Blackout, each boasting the shortest barrel the
company bores for the caliber. In the case of pistol–calibers that snaps the tape at a nimble 5–inches, while the
Blackout measures out at 8 inches. In both cases, the Banshees should prove not only portable but also as fast handling
as they come – particularly in a close–quarters application.
The Banshees come decked out, as those familiar with CMMG would suppose. Each version of the BANSHEE sports
the company's new ambidextrous charging handle, as well as sling plate and safety selector. They come standard with
a Cerakote finish, an RML M–LOK Hand Guard and a Magpul MOE Pistol Grip. The AR Pistol versions each come
with a Tailhook Mod 2

Ballistic-Resistant Body Firearms
Unfortunately, there is no such thing as bullet proof or stab proof vest, however, the use of ballistic– resistant body
armor as mentioned before can protect against numerous significant handguns, and, rifle ammunition, and stab–
resistant body armor can protect against knives and other serious sharp objects. Equally important, body armors are
categorized into levels; the levels begin with 1 which provides the least protection, in contrast, the highest level is
level 4 which offers the most protection. The levels are very important because a police officer needs to be careful
when deciding the correct body armor in reference to the type of handgun in order for protection. The level of the

To my mind velocity isn't as significant, as the weight and size of the projectile. The larger and heavier the projectile,
the less deflection. That is why the larger pistol calibers are preferable. I possess no experience with bonded bullets.
However, I can see how they would be a better option in shooting through laminated windscreens, if the
manufacturing process claim is correct that the design will control expansion, have higher weight retention, and
deeper penetration. FMJ shares some of these characteristics and therefore in theory at least, if not in practice lesser
fragmentation when hitting the windshield and in turn penetration into the vehicle.
I suspect bonded or FMJ may work better than hollow points that you raised in the OP. Although if the hollow point
went through the windscreen, it would fragment easier which is not necessarily a bad thing if you aren't concerned
with hitting others in the vehicle as well as the driver. Even if deflected, I suspect repeated hits on the windscreen that
would have hit the driver, but for the deflection would result in the driver changing direction which would be a natural
effect in self preservation mode. A further point, that I think has already been mentioned is ... Show more content on

A pellet gun will go through car windscreens if the angle is right, as will a stone hurled by a lawn mower or a 22
caliber bullet as shown in one of the posted links. If standing directly in front of the vehicle at say a car distance away
and shooting inward if there was time I would aim 4 to 6 inches higher than the point I wanted the bullet to hit as the
deflection would be downward, and if shooting out through the vehicle windscreen, I would aim lower as the
deflection is inclined to make the projectile rise if that makes sense. The grounds for this is because of an unequal
deceleration of the projectile caused by hitting the glass at an

envisioned as a possible successor to the famous M4 Sherman Medium Tank line for the Americans. There was also a
T23 Tank that was just the same body and equipment on it. The production amount of this T20 Tank was only a total
of 4 tanks built of this type tank, which is not a lot of tanks, but it cost a lot of money.
The T20 Tank weighs 32.9 tons making it a lot heavier than a semi truck. Lots of people/crew liked the tank, however,

they want to, but not too big to fit on the road.
The T20 Tank is originally made in the United States and the manufacturer is the U.S Ordnance Department. This T20
Tank is made in the year of 1944, which means that the tank is 72 years old.
The government makes replica's of the T20 Tank. The only thing about the tank is, is that it cannot start up and that the
tanks are life size replica's. A replica means that it looks like the object, such as the T20 Tank but it is not functional.
Power to this tank was served through a Ford GAN V–8 gasoline fueled engine of 470 horsepower output. The engine
offered road speeds of 25 mph and an operational range of 99 miles. The engine was at the rear of the hull and the
main armament was sat within a 360–degree traversing turret.
The tank ammunition was 75mm, 30 caliber, and a 50 caliber. The 50 caliber could penetrate through a building. The
50 caliber is heavy, but the part of the 50 caliber that shoots off is not that big. It may be 1 inch to maybe 2 inches in

The 9mm caliber Beretta M9 handgun has been in service for 32 years after it won a competition in the 1980s to
replace the .45 caliber Colt M1911A as the Army's sidearm. The M9 is a short recoil, semi–automatic, single–

On the summer night of July 29, 1976 shots rang out in a New York City neighborhood. This marked the beginning of
the .44 caliber or the Son of Sam murders. His reign of terror would grip this city and its surrounding areas for over a
year. Sadly the Son of Sam whom was eventually identified as David Berkowitz a severely disturbed young man that
fell under the several theories of crime causation. In his early life he felt awkward and scorned by his peers because of

in his diseased mind these were targets for his demons that ordered him to sacrifice them for their young beautiful
blood. Following these attacks David's delusions dissipated. It seemed as if the demons had been feed and were in a
dormant state. He moved from the Bronx to a two–family home in Yonkers. Here though the delusions would grow
stronger and more elaborate. The Cassara family, whom he was renting from, owned a German Sheppard who was
noisy and howled frequently. He would become David's unrelenting torment. Inside this family's dog lived a demon
that was ordering David to go hunting for blood. This would drive him to the edge becoming even suicidal at one
point. No longer able to bear he left the Cassara's and moved to an apartment home in Yonkers. Here a man by the
name of Sam Carr owned a black Labrador that would also torment David. Yet the more disturbing thing was the way
these delusions were being to unravel. He began to believe that Mr. Cassara was General Jack Cosmo, commander in
chief of the devil dogs roaming the streets of New York. Sam Carr at this time became host of a powerful demon by
the name of Sam who worked for General Jack Cosmo. This was the demon which David refers to his later letters to

Persuasive Essay On Gun Control
There is a huge epidemic that is taking place in the United States and our government has to put a stop to it. This issue
is the mass shootings that take place in America. There has been numerous amount of mass shootings in the United
States and many of them could have simply been avoided if there were stricter gun laws. This last decade has made
Gun Control an unavoidable topic in society for Americas citizens and politicians. Our politicians must take a stand
against these senseless crimes and ban these pointless weapons once and for all. One misconception when viewing
Gun Control would be the intent to ban all firearms. This is not the intended goal. However, the ban of Rifles and
special ammunition that are only designed for killing a mass number of people is the target. These weapons have no
purpose in the hands of American citizens. In the article 'End the Gun Epidemic in America' by The New York Times
it states that these weapons obtained for mass murdering are "weapons of war" and "are designed specifically to kill
people with brutal speed and efficiency. These weapons can't be used for hunting so they provide absolutely no
purpose for American civilians. The new law would require the many Americans who have obtained these weapons to
give them up, which many claims to be an invasion of their second amendment and constitutional right. However, if it
is for the safety of American lives, then that is the price we must pay as a country to keep each other safe. Our
government and elected officials need to take a stand on Gun Control and save the American lives that voted for their
elected position instead of focusing on their own personal agendas. The New York Times states "America's elected
leaders offer prayers for gun victims and then, callously and without fear of consequence, reject the most basic
restrictions on weapons of mass killing". It's obvious that these politicians, though American as well, rely on
ignorance and arrogance to keep their position of power by refusing to change gun laws. These politicians are
basically spitting in the face of the American people and disregarding the countless who have died as a result of these
weapons being allowed into the hands of average American

the driver's persona. An old Honda Civic would usually be operated by a high schooler accompanied by a bong in the

Why Guns Should Be Illegal Essay
The United States has issues with guns. We need better gun control so these killings stop happening and innocent
young or older lives stop getting taken away too soon. Did you know that in addition to the Las Vegas Strip massacre

Stephen Paddock fired more than 1,100 rounds that night. It is known as the deadliest mass shooting committed by an

Cartridge And Firearms Identification Paper
This week's reading is on the Cartridge and Firearms Identification. The measurement system used in cartridges and
firearms is not universal or has a systematic reasoning on how a caliber or gage is determined, such as Europe and the
United States has their own systems. But how ever there is NATO standard for the military. First we discussed calibers
and how they are determined. The imperial system, by using fractions of an inch and designated as caliber, uses the
interior bore diameter of the firearm, this originated with smooth–smooth bore arms. There are several ways to
measure for the caliber; by measuring the interior diameter of the bore, from land to land, grove to grove, measuring
the interior diameter of the casing neck, measuring ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Self–contained metallic cartridges were first identified using a hyphenated system. Again there is no set way to
identify cartridges and was voluntary and not every manufacture chose to follow it. Generally cartridges were
hyphenated in two or three sets, such as .50=70, .45–70, and .30–40. The first number designated the projectile caliber,
then the propellant charge in grains of powder. If there was a third number indicated it represented projectile weight in
grams, such as .45–70–350. After the turn of the century the use of the hyphenated system changed and represented
and different meaning. The U.S. Army switched their cartridge from the .30–40 Krag to the .30–03, representing .30
caliber and 1903 as the year it was introduced. With names it a whole different story, some represent the manufacture,
designer or the user. .223 Remington, .44–40 Winchester, and .40 Smith& Wilson are some examples of manufacture
names. For user it would be Police, Government, and NATO. Some manufactures even have catchy names for their
ammo, for example Fireball, Express, Magnum or Nitro. There is a not a definitive rime or reason how cartridges are
to be identified by, making it difficult to learn every variation of ammunition ever

Methods of RCC Design:
RCC Structural Elements are designed by two methods,
Working Stress Method (WSM)
Limit State Method (LSM)
Working Stress method is the old way of designing , In present era structures are generally designed using Limit State
Method. In WSM concrete is considered as elastic whereas in LSM concrete is generally assumed as plastic.

Design Example of Structural Member (Beam) by LSM:
Given Data :
Breadth of the Beam = 300 mm
B.M = 200 KN/m
Factored B.M. = 1.5 * 200 = 300 KN/m fck = M20 fy = Fe415
Solution :
Ultimate Moment of Resistance (Mu lim) = 0.138*fck*b*d^2
Mu lim ≥ 300 KN/m
0.138 * (20) * (300) *d^2 ≥ 300 *10^6 d ≥ 601.93 mm
Design of Beam Depth :
For M20 & Fe415 , Sigma_cbc = 7 N/mm2
Let us assume, Overall Depth D = 550 mm
Clear Cover = 25 mm
Assume , Dia. of Bar = 20 mm Stirrups Dia. = 8 mm
D = 601.93 + 25 + 8 + 1/2 *20 = 644.93 mm
Provided , D = 650 mm
Eff. Depth of Beam(d) = 650 – 25 – 8 – 1/2 * 20 = 607 mm
Thus Section provide is 300 x 650 mm.
Reinforcement : pt / 100 = Ast / bd = 0.5 * fck / fy *(1 – sqrt(1–4.5*M/(b*d^2)/fck))

Ast = 0.93 * b * d/100 = 0.93 * 300 * 607 /100 = 1696.99 mm2

Diffusion Of Osmosis And Diffusion
Osmosis and diffusion are two important processes in the human body that help in the functioning of cells and
homeostasis, or maintaining balance within the body. Osmosis is the movement of water from a higher concentration
to a lower concentration, and its purpose is to maintain stability between a solvent (water) and a solute. Diffusion is
the movement of solutes down their concentration gradient, toward a lesser concentration of solutes, in order to pass a
membrane, such as the lipid bilayer of the plasma membrane (Tortora and Derrickson 2012). Diffusion requires no
energy and is affected by many different aspects including heat, causing the reaction to occur at a more rapid rate, the
size of the particle, and the amount of space in which the diffusion must cover (Tortora and Derrickson 2012).
Osmosis is a form of diffusion that is more so for water, and both require no energy. The phospholipid bilayer of the
cell membrane is a protective barrier against foreign materials that could harm the cell. The membrane is what is
defined as selectively permeable (Tortora and Derrickson 2012) because it only allows certain materials get into it,
while keeping others from moving out. The bilayer of the membrane has hydrophilic heads, which work well with
water, and hydrophobic tails, which repel water. This difference in the head and tails is what causes only certain
materials to be able to enter the membrane without help. Materials that can get in are small, gaseous, and

Process Essay: Five Ways To Improve Your Gun
Five Ways To Improve Your Shooting
Gun range. Going to the gun range can be a lot of help to improving your shot with any gun that you need to improve.
I go to the gun range all the time with my family and every time I go I get better and better with my aim and learn a
little more about my guns too. "Shooting ranges keep you restricted and make you focus on one target"(Wikipedia).
Going to the gun range often will certainly make your shot tons better hands down.
Dry firing. This helps you with trigger control. The time that you would want to dry fire is when you are first learning
how to use a gun and your learning safety still and how to control the gun still. I even had to do dry fires in hunter
safety and while yes it is boring, you got to do it. "Dry firing helps you develop your marksmanship"(Officer) Dry
firing mostly helped me to get my aim down really quick, it really makes you focus ... Show more content on

I shoot all kinds of different guns all the time and every time I grab it and shoot it I'm spot on with my shot every time.
Bullets. While yes guns have different power alone just by themselves, well, you can also use different bullets and that
can even make the gun more powerful and that when it can get dangerous with shooting. I have shot larger calibers
and it can get pretty freaky but after you try it a couple times you kind of get used to it and eventually it's just second
nature. "Calibers are how much of a blow the bullet will give but most people know them as "knockdown power" not
caliber"(Jim Carmichel). I don't look at calibers as knockdown power just power.
Sights. There are millions of different sights that you can use and put onto your guns that you will honestly probably
never find the one you do best with. But shooting out of many sights can help you narrow down what type of sight that
your shoot best out of. "Or" maybe you are a bolt–action person with no sight at all. "I think that people put sights on
their guns to make them look better"(Chris

My Caliber War On Various Internet Forums And On Social Media
With the recent announcement by the Federal Bureau of Investigation that they will be going back to the 9mm

such as FaceBook. It so happens that this new round of my caliber is better than your caliber comes at a time when I
am making preparations to attend the 2015 Realistic Advanced Combatives Seminar hosted by Cabelas in Dundee,
Michigan and taught by Dave Spaulding and Sgt. Charles E. Humes. I attended the RACS training conference for the
first time in March of 2014 and handgun stopping power was a subject that was discussed quite heavily at that
conference. In order to discuss the effectiveness of any particular ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The result of these heavy projectiles fired at such great velocity create not only a hole in the target, but in targets such
as the human body create a wide area around the wound itself known as a temporary wound channel. This temporary
wound channel is caused by hydrostatic shock. Hydrostatic shock can produce incapacitating effects much more
quickly than blood loss alone. A shotgun firing buckshot, fires multiple projectiles that impact the body all at once and
cause a shock overload to the system. This shock overload is very effective at incapacitating a human being. A shotgun
firing slugs that are huge chunks of lead and so heavy they are weighted in ounces rather than grains has the double
effect of a massive wound channel coupled a with shock overload. In contrast, bullets fired from a handgun must
actually come into contact with the adversary 's tissue or organs in order to disrupt them. This means that in order for
bullets fired from a handgun to physically incapacitate the target we must hit something important, such as the spinal
column, heart, brain or major blood vessels. In essence, we must be more accurate with a pistol then with a rifle and
that is a mighty tall order. So, why do we carry the pistol? The answer is, we carry a handgun simply because it is
portable not because it is super duper dealer of damage and death. Common sense would tell us that a bigger bullet is
a better bullet. But, bigger bullets have greater felt recoil and since most

Unit 22 Misconceptions
This weeks segment of material covers the common misconceptions associated with the wide variety of calibers and
how to properly identify them. In the video it centered the some of the focus on .22 caliber and the common confusion
that comes along with that caliber. At this point i'm going to cover in my own words where the most friction points
come too. When you think .22 caliber some of us think of a specific type (.22 short, .22 long, .22 long rifle, and so on)
of that said caliber. The biggest issue one can have is to purchase the wrong cartridge and attempt to feed the rifle and
it will not chamber, in the event it does, it could cause excessive wear and tear due to the bore pressure and ultimately
ruin the firearm. It is important to understand the mechanics and principles of how each individual firearm works and
what specific type of ammunition it requires to shoot properly. From here, I will cover the common misconceptions of
cartridge identification. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Perfect example would be the 7.62x51mm vs. .308, both cartridges use a .304–.307 projectile. The .308 however, has
a moderate charge and has less bore pressure associated with it. Unlike the 7.62x51mm which tend to run on the
higher end of the spectrum, in terms of bore pressure. It's important to identify whether your rifle is designated to .308
vs. 7.62x51mm. It can directly affect the longevity of the barrel, and if not checked it can be a detriment to the overall
safety of the shooter. Having the ability to identify specific cartridges is a skillset that is dire. I'm going to cover the
importance of being able to identify

Civil War Springfield Weapons
Rifles and Muskets
Springfield Model 1861: The Springfield Model 1861 was the most common weapon used during the Civil War. The
Springfield's barrel was 40 inches long, and fired a .58 caliber Minié ball. The total weight of the rifle was
approximately 9 pounds. Because of these features, it is able to use percussion caps to fire at an effective range of 200
to 300 yards.
Colt Revolving Rifles: The Colt revolving rifles were some of the first repeating rifles produced by the Colt's
Manufacturing Company. The revolving action in these rifles were based upon the mechanism of already existing Colt
revolvers like the Colt Dragoon. Ultimately, the Colt revolving rifle was not favored by the troops because it had a bad

The Remington Model 1858 was their most popular revolver that they produced. This popular handgun consisted of a
large–frame, single–action, six–shot, .44 caliber percussion revolver, with an 8 inch barrel.
LeMat Revolver: The LeMat Revolver was perhaps the most well–known foreign–designed revolver during the Civil
War. It was constructed of two barrels, one on top of the other. The top barrel could fire up to nine .42 caliber balls
while the bottom could fire a 16 gauge shotshell, making it a very lethal weapon.
Elgin Pistol: The Elgin Pistol was first developed by the United States Navy in 1838. This gun was a .54 caliber,
single–shot smoothbore, and was equipped with an 11.5–inch Bowie knife blade and was the first percussion cap gun
to be used in the navy. Sadly only 150 Elgin Pistols were produced. Because of this, only a few were still in use during
the US Civil War. Soon after, the Navy replaced them with the M1860 Cutlass, which remained in service until the
mid 1900s.

Essay On Civil War Weapons
At the beginning of the Civil War, the Regular Army Soldiers were generally armed with primarily the 1842
Springfield, a .69 caliber smoothbore musket, and with whatever weaponry that was purchased by state authorities.
This included other various types and calibers of domestic and foreign smoothbore guns and the longer rifled muskets.
In 1861, a shortage of rifles on both sides forced the Northern and Southern governments purchase weapons from
European nations. Also widely used was artillery including cannons. Some of the new weapon technologies used in
the civil war include rifled gun barrels, the Minie ball and repeating rifles. (Parker 2005–20016) Many weapons were
used in the Siege of Petersburg from knives to swords along with a variety of firearms, including rifles, pistols,
muskets, and repeating weapons. During the onset of the Civil War, the U.S. Model 1842 Springfield was a .69 caliber
musket used mainly by both the Union and Confederate sides. It had a 42" barrel length, an overall length of 58

Canister projectiles came packed in a tin can while grape shot was usually wrapped in a cloth or canvas covering and
tied with string, which made it look like a bunch of grapes. When fired, the can or wrapping disintegrated, releasing
the shot in a spray. In effect, then, a gun loaded with grape shot or canister acted like a large, sawed–off shotgun; it
was particularly lethal when fired at a range of 250 yards or less. (Parker 2005–20016) The field artilleries of the day,
as it was more effective to fire the smaller and more numerous canister balls at an advancing enemy less often used

My Rifle Research Paper
I have got very many gifts and a bunch of unique, special gifts. This unreal item was a .308 caliber rifle. It was such
an outrage of excitement as my parents were giving it to me. Three aspects of the gun stood out to me it had a great
design to it, the size of the caliber, and the size of the gun itself. The design was an option of my choice, I had always
wanted a rifle like this one. My rifle, in my opinion, has one of the most distinctive designs for a rifle. Starting at the
stock of the gun, it was sleek, natural camouflage , synthetic stock. As you go up the gun, you arrive at the metal parts,
and this matte finish of black really matched the stock, which gave it my attention as I focused on it at first glance.
The barrel, at the peak of the gun adjacent to the opening system, was thick, so if I was to shoot multiple times in a
row the barrel wouldn't warp after constant heating through the violent explosion of the cartridge as the bullets races
through the end of the barrel. On the other hand, the bullet measurements were just as important. At the time I was
given the gun, I wasn't very old or strong. If I was too have received this rifle in any caliber bigger than .308 I

While the military argued against the .276 caliber, Garand's .276 caliber design was recommended for adoption on
January 4, 1932.
On February 25, 1932, the Army Chief of Staff, General Douglas MacArthur, put an end to the caliber issue, stating
"this change will introduce an element of chaos, confusion and uncertainty which, when magnified under war
conditions, would more than counteract the beneficial effect of any semi–automatic rifle." With this statement,
MacArthur ordered the development of a .30 caliber rifle. This did not delay Garand's work because he had already
developed a design to fire the .30 caliber on his own time in anticipation of such an event. Two more years would pass
before the rifle was adopted as the United States Rifle, M1 on January 9, 1936. The United States became the first
country in history to adopt a semi–automatic rifle as its standard military rifle after this event. Problems beset the M1
as it was first being issued. They occurred in the area where expanding gases of the fired bullets were tapped from the
barrel to operate the rifle and the rifle suffered stoppages after firing only seven of the eight rounds in its clip.
The M1's early performance problems gave it such a bad reputation that after the 1939 National Matches, the National
Rifle Association was able to get Congress to look at the problem. A major redesign was ordered on October 26, 1939
and Garand redesigned the rifle to operate with gases tapped from a gas

Comparing P-51 Mustang And Martin B-26 Marauder
Luke Hameloth
Mrs. Hameloth
HS History
Throughout World War II the US used airplanes in many different ways. Some were used to carry troops and supplies,
some were used as bombers, and some were used to attack directly. The P–51 Mustang, the Boeing P–17 Flying
Fortress, and the Martin B–26 Marauder are just a few examples of these. Even though each plane had a different job,
they all came together to help win the war. The P–51 Mustang was commissioned by the British Royal Air Force, and
was built by North American Aviation. Its first flight took place on October 26th. The Mustang ran on the Packard V–
1650–7 engine, which was a version of the Rolls–Royce Merlin 66 and was mounted with six .50 caliber M2/AN
Browning machine guns. The first units of Mustangs weren't able to reach high altitudes because of inferior engines,
which lead to them being used primarily as reconnaissance and ground attacking planes. But the US decided to use
them as bomber escorts for deep penetration daylight bombing runs. The Boeing B–17 Flying Fortress was primarily
used by the USAAC (United States Army Air Corps) and was built by Boeing. The B–17 used four Pratt and Whitney

The B–26 was nicknamed "Widowmaker" because of its reputation to crash on take–offs. It had to be flown at precise
speeds, which was intimidating to pilots. As the crews became more trained for the aircraft, however, it became safer
to fly. The plane was modified as well to make take–offs easier and the Marauder soon became one of the deadliest

Human identification is one of the most challenging subjects that forensic experts have came across. Identity is a set of
physical characteristics, or a functional or psychic, normal or pathological, that define an individual.1 Scientific
identification of human remains might be accomplished by fingerprint, dental, anthropological, genetic or radiological
examinations.2,3 When it is not possible to apply the scientific method of fingerprint identification, it demands a
forensic medicine investigation like radiological investigations. The skill process, carried out by using knowledge of
other professional areas, characterizes the medicolegal identification and is based on the application of knowledge of

My Design Of Sighting A Gun
I. The purpose for my design is to speed up the process of sighting a gun in, the scope to take into compensate the
parabolic launch of a bullet, and to hit to target bulls' eye. Sighting in a gun requires a long trial and error process that
any hunter, marine, or police sniper would agree upon. As a bullet is fired from a rifle it rises a few inches for about
one hundred yards or more where it descends below the axis of the barrel. The scope looks like any other scope but
will account for the parabolic launch and relocate its self to the correct position for the most accurate shot. Nikon is a
company that produces quality scopes and would be a good contestant for the idea. They support their products being
"brighter, clearer, precise, and rugged, but these are just a few of the attributes knowledgeable hunters commonly use
to describe Nikon riflescopes. Nikon is determined to bring hunters, shooters, and sportsmen a wide selection of the
best hunting optics money can buy– while at the same time pushing the envelope to create revolutionary capabilities
for the serious hunter" (Nikon). The design would also need an electrical engineer to design the wiring and
microchips/sensors, but a mechanical engineer from Power Electrics would also be needed to fit the motor for the
positioning of the scope. I would like to arrange a meeting for all of us to discuss and perfect the idea. II. The scope,

On January 30, 1977, an engaged couple, Christine Freund (26) and John Diel were shot where they sat together in a
parked car; Diel survived, but Freund died of her injuries. Police determined the shooter had used an uncommon .44
caliber Charter Arms Bulldog revolver in this shooting. The earlier victims, too, had been struck with large–calliber
shells, and police now suspected the shootings were all connected. Authorities also noted that the shootings targeted
young women with long, dark hair and/or young couples parked in cars. On March 8, 1977, college student Virginia
Voskerichian (21) was shot by a passerby as she walked in Queens. She died instantly. The .44 calliber shell from this
shooting matched one from the July 29, 1976 shooting. At a press conference on March 10, 1977, police announced
that the same .44 caliber pistol had been used in several of the shootings. The Operation Omega task force, eventually
comprising some 300 police officers, was charged with investigating the crimes, under the direction of Deputy
Inspector Timothy J. Dowd. Police speculated that the killer had a vendetta against women, perhaps due to chronic
rejection. The mass media had a field day with the shootings, publishing every detail and speculation of the case.

Getting Started With Reloading Research Paper
Getting Started With Reloading: The Basic Equipment
This article will serve as a list of items needed in order to get started. Many of the items on this list can be purchased
individually or as part of a reloading kit. Hornady, Lee Precision, and RCBS offer reloading kits designed for the
beginning reloader.
Once you decide which cartridges that you wish to reload, you will need to purchase the cartridge components;
powder, primers, cases, and bullets.
Required Items:
Work Bench:
A work bench with plenty of workspace will work best for a reloading bench. Weight and strength is a key component
of a reloading bench setup to help keep the bench from moving around during the resizing process.

Case Trimmer:
Because brass cases can stretch after firing and resizing, trimming is sometimes necessary to ensure proper case
length. There are many different types and styles of case trimmers. They are typically manually operated or motorized.
Most trimmers require a shell holder and pilot specific to the caliber being trimmed.
Deburring Tool:
A tool used to deburr and chamfer the case mouth after case trimming. These are typically universal, designed to work
on all cases.
Calipers:
A caliper is a tool used to measure the empty case length after resizing and the trimming operations. Calipers are also
used to check the case overall length (COL). These can be either a dial caliper or digital.

Behavior Modification Plan For Ourselves
When I first learned that we were doing a behavior modification plan for ourselves I did not know what to think. After
having it explained to me I knew that it had to be something related to my stress and anxiety levels. My entire life it
has been something that has hindered me from getting outside of my comfort zone to better myself. So I started from
there and had to figure out a way to measure my stresses in numbers. I wasn't sure how I was supposed to
mathematically lay out what gives me stress. Our awesome teacher then asked me what it was that I did to relieve
stress. I told her that I like guns and going to the shooting range. From there I was off and running. My goal was to go
to the shooting range to help manage my stress levels. My first sub–goal was to schedule times twice a week to go to
the range. I decided that I would go on Tuesdays and Fridays after work. I researched local shooting ranges in my area
and determined that Fletcher Arms in Waukesha was the best bet for me based on price and location. Another sub–goal
that I gave myself was to find all my information by September 10, 2015 which I was able to accomplish. That was
easy to accomplish but not all of my planning paid off for me at first. There were a couple of issues that I ran into
during the semester that were not significant; but they were things that I needed to figure out in order to be successful.
When road blocks get in the way it is sometimes difficult to want to continue. I

22 Short Rimfire Cartridge
The .22 caliber small diameter projectile was one of the first small diameter projectiles introduced and has been
developed and adapted for over a century becoming the most popular small bore caliber in history. While most
shooters automatically jump to .22 LR when they hear .22 caliber, however there are hundreds of variations of the .22
caliber loadings and cartridges. The .22 Short rimfire cartridge is one of the longest running .22 caliber cartridges still
in production, it was introduced in 1857 for use in a Smith & Wesson revolver1. This development went on to lead to
the .22 long, .22 extra long and a whole lineage of .22 caliber rimfire cartridges all the way to the .22 WMR in 1959,
another very popular .22 rimfire design that has recently been giving the .22LR a run for its money. The .22 caliber
bullet continued on to be developed into centerfire ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
While not being identical they are for the most part interchangeable in most modern platforms. The powder charge and
pressure are however different due to small differences in the casing thickness.2 This round was officially adopted by
the US military in the Vietnam War for use in the M16 rifle. Its military adoption led to its surge in popularity, though
its reception was a hard one due to misconceptions about it ability to kill. The .22 is still being used and developed to
this day. From new innovations like the 5.7x28mm or the .22 TCM the .22 diameter bullet is being used in more
platforms and being adapted all the time. The most popular selling rifle in my store is obviously the AR–15 chambered
in .223/5.56, and oddly enough one of my most sought after guns is also a .22 caliber the FNH FiveSeven Pistol.
Personally I have been interested in squiring the .22 TCM conversion slides for Glocks and selling them paired with
assembled Glock frames. To this day .22 has maintained popularity in the united states from rimfire to centerfire and
the popularity may wane but for the most part always

Near Death Experience Essay
Near Death Experience
It was a warm fall day in early October, a day that I recall quite vividly. The smells of the transition from summer to
fall were in the air, accompanied by the sounds of birds singing and the wind blowing through the trees. It was on this
beautiful day that my existence was almost terminated. A quick hunting trip could have ended my life.
After school on this day, a friend and I decided to go hunting before our evening basketball practice. I really don't
know why we called it hunting, because we didn't have an idea exactly what we were hunting for. We had forty acres
of my backyard to do our merciless killing of defenseless animals. We were two ignorant kids with semi–automatic
and lever–action .22 caliber rifles. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Immediately we ran to the tree, firing our guns as if we both were in an infantry fighting a battle. One, two, three
squirrels were dropped out of the tree by our deadeye–aimed shots. As we gazed over the dead corpses, we
contemplated the need to shoot these animals for no obvious reason. Was it our insatiable compulsion to shoot the
guns or a morbid goal to shoot the squirrels on the run? Apparently it was an odd mixture of both cases. As guilty as
we might have felt for shooting them, we searched for more life to murder.
Soon enough, however, we seemed to become bored with our adventure and decided that our excitement for the day
had ended, so we began our short journey back to my house. On the way back, we stopped briefly by the tree that
supplied the three squirrels we killed previously. I then continued walking, but my friend had noticed a squirrel
clinging to the trunk of the tree. I was on the opposite side of the tree from him, about forty feet away from my fellow
gunslinger. As I turned around, I noticed I was in the direct line of his firing range. Before I had time to warn him of
the unsafe situation, I saw the shots. Three consecutive discharges of his gun snapped the scene into slow motion. Fire
and smoke billowed out of his gun after each bullet was released. The sound of the shots was deafened by my own
fear, although I could hear the bullets whizzing inches from my head. As bullets pierced the air right next

Essay On How To Build A Rifle
How to Build a Precision Rifle on a Budget Many people have grown an interested in long range or competitive shoot,
but they don't know what they need. They don't know what they need for a rifle or how their rifle needs to be setup.
Another thing a lot people don't understand is that they don't need to remortgage their house to build one of these rifles
like many people would like you to believe. In this paper I will help you understand what you need to make a custom
long range rifle and the cost that make up each part of this rifle. I will also be tell you why each piece of this rifle is so
important. By the end of this paper we will have built a Precision Rifle under 2,000 dollars
First you have to pick a rifle cartage that will fit your needs and is a good fit to you. Your also have to consider the
cost of ammo if you are on a budget. You are also going to have to consider if you are reloading or going to reload
because that could affect your decision too. For example I like the 300 win mag because it has the capability to drop
an animal at 1,200 plus yards. I also like this cartage because there are so many different reloads that I can make for
this rifle for long range and ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
I highly recommend you spending a good amount of money on this part but you can get away with spending 300–500
dollars on the Millett LRS line because they are well made and have 140 moa of elevation. If you are willing to spend
more than go with the Bushnell Elite Tactical Mil–Dot First Focal Plane (FFP) scope you can find them for as cheap
as 820. I person recommend this one because of the lifetime warranty that Bushnell have on it. Also I like this one a
lot more than the Millett because of it being a FFP scope allowing you to mil range at any power. So now you are at
1,247 to 1,447 if you go with the Millett But if you go with the Bushnell you'll be at 1,767 without

30 Caliber Research Paper
.30 Caliber Explained, By Eric and Ray with Moss Pawn and Gun. Posted by SDI for class purposes. In the provided
video Eric and Ray gives a very detailed description of the .30 caliber projectile, what considers the projectile to be a
.30 caliber projectile, the vast number of .30 caliber specific ammunition available today and why it is the most
common and popular caliber to date. A .30 caliber is considered so due to the size of the projectile itself not by the
cartridge. That is where most people get confused. If you look back our old U.S. Model M1 Carbine was a .30 caliber
rifle. When talking about a .30 caliber projectile you are generally talking about a .308 to .311 diameter bore. A .32
caliber ACP is technically a true .30 caliber projectile due to the actual size varying from .308 to .314 during
production. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The different types of .30 caliber ammunition differ not by the projectile which will all be technically the same, but by
the cartridge they are mated with. Here is a few examples of different .30 caliber rounds. You have the .308
Winchester, (7.62x51mm Nato) 7.5x55mm Swiss, (.308 diameter) 7.5x54 French, (.308 diameter) and the famous 30–
06. All these have the exact same projectile not cartridge. The cartridge could be bigger or smaller but still have a .30
caliber projectile. The .30 caliber is the standard most common and popular round/ammunition today due to the fact
there is hundreds of manufactures making this size of projectiles. If you were to be in any state in the United States
and were looking for some .30 caliber ammunition, you are guarantied to find some. It is also very popular due to the
fact it is a very aggressive hunting and shooting round. It can take down just about everything the walks in the U.S.
and is very accurate out to some very long distances with the right projectile design and

Gun Control Portrayal Analysis

  • 1. Gun Control Portrayal Analysis Gun control has been debated in American History for decades yet it still persists today. We need to take a step back as a nation and examine the driving force behind gun control and gun violence in America. This is becoming a serious problem, because every mass shooting takes more lives. The government continues to sit at a standstill with regard to gun control. The Republicans have no desire to restrict Americans' second amendment right to bear arms. However, Democrats don't intend to take away an American's right, they seek to limit and remove high caliber guns from the market. Americans are on different sides when it comes to gun control, but there are those who try to push their opinions in different forms. American culture is and always has been represented through political cartoons. They can say a lot about the illustrator's viewpoints and how they are representative of America through color and context. The political cartoon I chose was on gun control or the lack thereof. The cartoon is of a man standing behind a counter of a store called "GOP GUNS and GORE" and the sign says that this store is opened 24/7. The man behind the counter is handing another man a gun with a black shirt that says "kill." The salesman is saying, "You're on the federal watchlist. But we still want you to have this." The man is standing behind a sign that says, "Terrorists, please form single line." There are men that stand on said line. All around the store there are signs on the wall ... • 2. Essay On Weapons In The Civil War Picture a Civil war battlefield. You see explosions of gunfire and you hear the deafening roar of guns and artillery. The Civil War was fought in 10,000 places and was the bloodiest war in American history. Over 3 million Americans fought and more than 600,000 men, almost 2 percent of the population, died in it (About). This war could not have been fought without many different types of weapons and many advances in weapon technology. There were many types of weapons used in the Civil War, ranging from cannons to guns to swords to hand grenades, but both sides used mostly old style smooth–bore muskets or rifled muskets. These were both relatively simple long guns that were not particularly easy to reload during battle and quite cumbersome ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Some pistols that were used were the Colt Dragoon Revolver, the Starr revolver, the Colt model 1860, the Smith & Wesson Model 1, the Elgin Cutlass pistol, and the Remington 1858. All of these guns needed bullets, and there was an array of different calibers and brands to choose from. They ranged in size from the .44 caliber Colt Army to the powerful .69 caliber Round Shot. Soldiers also used .58 or .69 caliber Minie Ball (a new type of bullet designed during the Civil War), .58 caliber Gardner, .577 caliber Enfield, .52 caliber Sharps, and .58 caliber Williams Cleaner. The last major type of weapon used in the Civil War was the cannon. Cannons started the war when Edmund Ruffin fired the first shot on Fort Sumter, and they helped the Union defeat General Lee and the Confederates at Pickett's Charge in 1863 (2 Civil). In spite of this, cannons were responsible for less than ten percent of casualties, and some battles such as the Battle of Hartsville, did not even involve cannons because they were too big and bulky to ... Such power creates a lot of heat which is why the engine compartment was lined with pure gold, the greatest heat reflector you can get your hands on. Yes gold, 3000 royal pounds of it, more gold than the golden clock held up by Flavor Flav's shoulders.Murray Said, "On the 23rd of December 1992, chassis number one was driven right on schedule for the very first time." However, these such crimes were particularly bad in the borough of Brooklyn, New York. Brooklyn, New York during the summers caused many kids and adults to hang out on their stoops and enjoy being refreshed by an open fire hydrant or as they say in Brooklyn the "pump". During one of those hot summer days in Brooklyn the unthinkable happens. The news is reporting that a possible serial killer was on the loose killing young brunette women. I have a standard 2003 Mitsubishi Eclipse GS, and it has a nice maroon color, unfortunately with some pretty bad sun damage. I think of it as a female and named her Misty, when I first got her she was perfect just wished that the owner who had before didn't take off her logo from the front and back. The back bumper is custom as well as the side skirts. After my timing belt came loose we learned that the owner before me didn't put it on right, so after the mechanics fixed her up the front bumper was somehow extra loose. • 7. Mk4 Banshee Case Study Ominously, CMMG's Mk4 Banshee made its appearance on the national stage this past Friday the 13Th. But the only thing that could prove to be unlucky about the Missouri gunmaker's wicked new guns are the hoops shooters will have to go through to put most in their safe. Yup, the Banshee line is nearly top to bottom NFA regulated – registration, tax, stamps, the whole nine yards. That's the breaks (illogical as they might be) in the short–barreled rifle world. The company has taken some mercy on the hearts of those who refuse to jump when the ATF says frog, releasing complementary AR pistols in the line's four calibers. Even so, CMMG gives ample reasons to contemplate doing the Fed's paper dance; by all accounts, the backpack big carbines are sound as oak joists and light as a morning breeze. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The guns are plum featherweight. The pistol–caliber Banshees just trips over the 4.5–pound mark, while the rifle– caliber configurations are well within a rounding error of a flat 5 pounds. As those who shoot magnum revolvers know, this is tantalizingly tickling handgun heft – with the benefit of a stock (or brace). CMMG offers the Banshees in .22LR, 9mm, .45 ACP and .300 Blackout, each boasting the shortest barrel the company bores for the caliber. In the case of pistol–calibers that snaps the tape at a nimble 5–inches, while the Blackout measures out at 8 inches. In both cases, the Banshees should prove not only portable but also as fast handling as they come – particularly in a close–quarters application. The Banshees come decked out, as those familiar with CMMG would suppose. Each version of the BANSHEE sports the company's new ambidextrous charging handle, as well as sling plate and safety selector. • 9. Personal Narrative Analysis To my mind velocity isn't as significant, as the weight and size of the projectile. The larger and heavier the projectile, the less deflection. That is why the larger pistol calibers are preferable. I possess no experience with bonded bullets. However, I can see how they would be a better option in shooting through laminated windscreens, if the manufacturing process claim is correct that the design will control expansion, have higher weight retention, and deeper penetration. FMJ shares some of these characteristics and therefore in theory at least, if not in practice lesser fragmentation when hitting the windshield and in turn penetration into the vehicle. I suspect bonded or FMJ may work better than hollow points that you raised in the OP. Although if the hollow point went through the windscreen, it would fragment easier which is not necessarily a bad thing if you aren't concerned with hitting others in the vehicle as well as the driver. Even if deflected, I suspect repeated hits on the windscreen that would have hit the driver, but for the deflection would result in the driver changing direction which would be a natural effect in self preservation mode. A further point, that I think has already been mentioned is ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... • 16. Persuasive Essay On Gun Control There is a huge epidemic that is taking place in the United States and our government has to put a stop to it. This issue is the mass shootings that take place in America. There has been numerous amount of mass shootings in the United States and many of them could have simply been avoided if there were stricter gun laws. This last decade has made Gun Control an unavoidable topic in society for Americas citizens and politicians. Our politicians must take a stand against these senseless crimes and ban these pointless weapons once and for all. One misconception when viewing Gun Control would be the intent to ban all firearms. This is not the intended goal. However, the ban of Rifles and special ammunition that are only designed for killing a mass number of people is the target. These weapons have no purpose in the hands of American citizens. In the article 'End the Gun Epidemic in America' by The New York Times it states that these weapons obtained for mass murdering are "weapons of war" and "are designed specifically to kill people with brutal speed and efficiency. These weapons can't be used for hunting so they provide absolutely no purpose for American civilians. The new law would require the many Americans who have obtained these weapons to give them up, which many claims to be an invasion of their second amendment and constitutional right. However, if it is for the safety of American lives, then that is the price we must pay as a country to keep each other safe. Our government and elected officials need to take a stand on Gun Control and save the American lives that voted for their elected position instead of focusing on their own personal agendas. The New York Times states "America's elected leaders offer prayers for gun victims and then, callously and without fear of consequence, reject the most basic restrictions on weapons of mass killing". It's obvious that these politicians, though American as well, rely on ignorance and arrogance to keep their position of power by refusing to change gun laws. The imperial system, by using fractions of an inch and designated as caliber, uses the interior bore diameter of the firearm, this originated with smooth–smooth bore arms. Generally cartridges were hyphenated in two or three sets, such as .50=70, .45–70, and .30–40. The first number designated the projectile caliber, then the propellant charge in grains of powder. If there was a third number indicated it represented projectile weight in grams, such as .45–70–350. • 22. Diffusion Of Osmosis And Diffusion Osmosis and diffusion are two important processes in the human body that help in the functioning of cells and homeostasis, or maintaining balance within the body. Osmosis is the movement of water from a higher concentration to a lower concentration, and its purpose is to maintain stability between a solvent (water) and a solute. Diffusion is the movement of solutes down their concentration gradient, toward a lesser concentration of solutes, in order to pass a membrane, such as the lipid bilayer of the plasma membrane (Tortora and Derrickson 2012). Diffusion requires no energy and is affected by many different aspects including heat, causing the reaction to occur at a more rapid rate, the size of the particle, and the amount of space in which the diffusion must cover (Tortora and Derrickson 2012). Osmosis is a form of diffusion that is more so for water, and both require no energy. The phospholipid bilayer of the cell membrane is a protective barrier against foreign materials that could harm the cell. The membrane is what is defined as selectively permeable (Tortora and Derrickson 2012) because it only allows certain materials get into it, while keeping others from moving out. The bilayer of the membrane has hydrophilic heads, which work well with water, and hydrophobic tails, which repel water. This difference in the head and tails is what causes only certain materials to be able to enter the membrane without help. Materials that can get in are small, gaseous, and ... My Caliber War On Various Internet Forums And On Social Media With the recent announcement by the Federal Bureau of Investigation that they will be going back to the 9mm cartridge, there has been a rekindling of the age old caliber war on various internet forums and on social media sites such as FaceBook. It so happens that this new round of my caliber is better than your caliber comes at a time when I am making preparations to attend the 2015 Realistic Advanced Combatives Seminar hosted by Cabelas in Dundee, Michigan and taught by Dave Spaulding and Sgt. The result of these heavy projectiles fired at such great velocity create not only a hole in the target, but in targets such as the human body create a wide area around the wound itself known as a temporary wound channel. This temporary wound channel is caused by hydrostatic shock. Hydrostatic shock can produce incapacitating effects much more quickly than blood loss alone. A shotgun firing buckshot, fires multiple projectiles that impact the body all at once and cause a shock overload to the system. This shock overload is very effective at incapacitating a human being. A shotgun firing slugs that are huge chunks of lead and so heavy they are weighted in ounces rather than grains has the double effect of a massive wound channel coupled a with shock overload. In contrast, bullets fired from a handgun must actually come into contact with the adversary 's tissue or organs in order to disrupt them. This means that in order for bullets fired from a handgun to physically incapacitate the target we must hit something important, such as the spinal column, heart, brain or major blood vessels. In essence, we must be more accurate with a pistol then with a rifle and that is a mighty tall order. So, why do we carry the pistol? The answer is, we carry a handgun simply because it is portable not because it is super duper dealer of damage and death. Common sense would tell us that a bigger bullet is a better bullet. In the video it centered the some of the focus on .22 caliber and the common confusion that comes along with that caliber. At this point i'm going to cover in my own words where the most friction points come too. When you think .22 caliber some of us think of a specific type (.22 short, .22 long, .22 long rifle, and so on) of that said caliber. The biggest issue one can have is to purchase the wrong cartridge and attempt to feed the rifle and it will not chamber, in the event it does, it could cause excessive wear and tear due to the bore pressure and ultimately ruin the firearm. It is important to understand the mechanics and principles of how each individual firearm works and what specific type of ammunition it requires to shoot properly. From here, I will cover the common misconceptions of cartridge identification. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Perfect example would be the 7.62x51mm vs. .308, both cartridges use a .304–.307 projectile. The .308 however, has a moderate charge and has less bore pressure associated with it. Unlike the 7.62x51mm which tend to run on the higher end of the spectrum, in terms of bore pressure. It's important to identify whether your rifle is designated to .308 vs. 7.62x51mm. It can directly affect the longevity of the barrel, and if not checked it can be a detriment to the overall safety of the shooter. Having the ability to identify specific cartridges is a skillset that is dire. I'm going to cover the importance of being able to identify ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Because of these features, it is able to use percussion caps to fire at an effective range of 200 to 300 yards. This included other various types and calibers of domestic and foreign smoothbore guns and the longer rifled muskets. In 1861, a shortage of rifles on both sides forced the Northern and Southern governments purchase weapons from European nations. Also widely used was artillery including cannons. Some of the new weapon technologies used in the civil war include rifled gun barrels, the Minie ball and repeating rifles. It was such an outrage of excitement as my parents were giving it to me. Three aspects of the gun stood out to me it had a great design to it, the size of the caliber, and the size of the gun itself. The design was an option of my choice, I had always wanted a rifle like this one. My rifle, in my opinion, has one of the most distinctive designs for a rifle. Starting at the stock of the gun, it was sleek, natural camouflage , synthetic stock. As you go up the gun, you arrive at the metal parts, and this matte finish of black really matched the stock, which gave it my attention as I focused on it at first glance. The barrel, at the peak of the gun adjacent to the opening system, was thick, so if I was to shoot multiple times in a row the barrel wouldn't warp after constant heating through the violent explosion of the cartridge as the bullets races through the end of the barrel. On the other hand, the bullet measurements were just as important. At the time I was given the gun, I wasn't very old or strong. While the military argued against the .276 caliber, Garand's .276 caliber design was recommended for adoption on January 4, 1932. On February 25, 1932, the Army Chief of Staff, General Douglas MacArthur, put an end to the caliber issue, stating "this change will introduce an element of chaos, confusion and uncertainty which, when magnified under war conditions, would more than counteract the beneficial effect of any semi–automatic rifle." With this statement, MacArthur ordered the development of a .30 caliber rifle. This did not delay Garand's work because he had already developed a design to fire the .30 caliber on his own time in anticipation of such an event. Two more years would pass before the rifle was adopted as the United States Rifle, M1 on January 9, 1936. The United States became the first country in history to adopt a semi–automatic rifle as its standard military rifle after this event. Problems beset the M1 as it was first being issued. They occurred in the area where expanding gases of the fired bullets were tapped from the barrel to operate the rifle and the rifle suffered stoppages after firing only seven of the eight rounds in its clip. The M1's early performance problems gave it such a bad reputation that after the 1939 National Matches, the National Rifle Association was able to get Congress to look at the problem. • 30. Comparing P-51 Mustang And Martin B-26 Marauder Luke Hameloth Mrs. Hameloth HS History Throughout World War II the US used airplanes in many different ways. Some were used to carry troops and supplies, some were used as bombers, and some were used to attack directly. The P–51 Mustang, the Boeing P–17 Flying Fortress, and the Martin B–26 Marauder are just a few examples of these. Even though each plane had a different job, they all came together to help win the war. The P–51 Mustang was commissioned by the British Royal Air Force, and was built by North American Aviation. Its first flight took place on October 26th. The Mustang ran on the Packard V– 1650–7 engine, which was a version of the Rolls–Royce Merlin 66 and was mounted with six .50 caliber M2/AN Browning machine guns. The first units of Mustangs weren't able to reach high altitudes because of inferior engines, which lead to them being used primarily as reconnaissance and ground attacking planes. But the US decided to use them as bomber escorts for deep penetration daylight bombing runs. • 32. My Design Of Sighting A Gun I. The purpose for my design is to speed up the process of sighting a gun in, the scope to take into compensate the parabolic launch of a bullet, and to hit to target bulls' eye. Sighting in a gun requires a long trial and error process that any hunter, marine, or police sniper would agree upon. As a bullet is fired from a rifle it rises a few inches for about one hundred yards or more where it descends below the axis of the barrel. The scope looks like any other scope but will account for the parabolic launch and relocate its self to the correct position for the most accurate shot. Nikon is a company that produces quality scopes and would be a good contestant for the idea. They support their products being "brighter, clearer, precise, and rugged, but these are just a few of the attributes knowledgeable hunters commonly use to describe Nikon riflescopes. Nikon is determined to bring hunters, shooters, and sportsmen a wide selection of the best hunting optics money can buy– while at the same time pushing the envelope to create revolutionary capabilities for the serious hunter" (Nikon). The design would also need an electrical engineer to design the wiring and microchips/sensors, but a mechanical engineer from Power Electrics would also be needed to fit the motor for the positioning of the scope. The earlier victims, too, had been struck with large–calliber shells, and police now suspected the shootings were all connected. Authorities also noted that the shootings targeted young women with long, dark hair and/or young couples parked in cars. On March 8, 1977, college student Virginia Voskerichian (21) was shot by a passerby as she walked in Queens. She died instantly. The .44 calliber shell from this shooting matched one from the July 29, 1976 shooting.
