silent spring research paper
Rachel Carson's Silent Spring, first published in 1962, bright light to how the widespread use of
chemical pesticides was posing a serious threat to public health and leading to the destruction of
wildlife. While numerous philosophers have written on this topic throughout history, Rachel Carson
did an excellent job at creating a more basic way for the general public to comprehend the troubles
in the environment at the time. This book was no doubt in response to the increasing awareness in
the 1960s of the effects that technology, industry, economic expansion and population growth were
having on the environment. Carson's thesis that we were subjecting ourselves to slow poisoning by

DDT (dichlorodiphenyltrichloroethane) is a pesticide described in Silent Spring, once widely used
to control insects in agriculture and insects that carry diseases such as malaria. Its use in the U.S.
was banned in 1972 because of damage to wildlife, but is still used in some countries today. DDE
(dichlorodiphenyldichloroethylene) and DDD (dichlorodiphenyldichloroethane) are chemicals
similar to DDT that contaminate commercial DDT preparations. DDE has no commercial use. DDD
was also used to kill pests, but its use has also been banned. Because of the widespread use of
agricultural chemicals in all crop production, our ecosystem is exposed to levels of pesticide
residues constantly.
Though Carson talked about other pesticides, it was DDT that was sprayed aerially over large areas
of the United States to control all sorts of insects and bugs. DDT was first created in 1874 and
discovered to kill insects in 1939 by Paul Hermann Müller, who won the Nobel Prize in 1948 for
this work. During World War II, DDT applied to the skin in powder form proved an effective means
to control lice in soldiers. But it wasn't just DDT's multiuse that led to its use; Carson says it was a
surfeit of product and labor. In her speeches, Carson claimed that after the war, out–of–work pilots
and a glut of the product led the United

Golden Eagles Vs Vultures
Species for which the model in Dwyer et al. (2014) performed well are widespread and occupy
many habitats in California, but those that performed poorly are at least seasonally tied to specific
habitats or geographies. For example, all three species occupy areas with topographic variation.
Golden Eagles and Turkey Vultures are obligate cliff nesters, while Common Raven is a facultative
cliff nester that also nests in trees and sometimes on powerline poles and transmission towers
(Thelander 1974, Grinnell and Miller 1944). In flat areas, power line poles may extend the
usefulness of associated habitats to these species by offering elevation over surrounding terrain, a
wide field of view, and a point for easy take off (Benson, 1981; Stahlecker,

All About Eagles
All about Eagles
Think of an eagle...what comes to mind? A large powerful bird of prey, swooping down and
snatching up its next victim? Or maybe you imagine a beautiful and noble bird with very likable
qualities. Actually, eagles are all of that and more. In the United States, the Bald Eagle is a symbol
of justice, strength, and fairness. The Bald Eagle is after all, our national symbol. However, to the
rest of the world the eagle may bring to mind many different images. That is because there are many
different types of eagles. In fact there are about 59 different species of eagles throughout the world,
and they can be found on every continent except Antarctica.

Essay about Hotel California: The Californian Lifestyle
"Hotel California" by The Eagles has been the recipient of much speculation since its release in
1976. Although many other interpretations exist including some which claim this song to be
referencing drugs, much evidence suggests that "Hotel California" is, at least partly, making a
statement about the lifestyle of drug and alcohol users particularly in the large cities of California.
As with many songs, duality of meaning exists in "Hotel California."
Since "Hotel California" debuted in the seventies, one can understand why the topic would be
Californian drug–using lifestyle. "The scare tactics of the 1960s gave way to the contradictory
messages of the late '70s and early '80s. Drugs became glamorous, without becoming better
understood" ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
After examining the whole song, one can guess that the song makes the claim that marijuana is a
drug that allows easy passage to worse drugs. According to "a 1969 Gallup poll, only 4% of
American adults said they had tried marijuana. Thirty–four percent said they didn't know the effects
of marijuana, but 43% thought it was used by many or some high school kids" (Robison); therefore,
many individuals might not understand that marijuana, as many claim today, leads to usage of more
harmful substances. The speaker then sees a shimmering light as if he is about to die which signifies
the death of an old life and the birth of a new one. The temptation of drugs becomes too strong, so
the speaker has to stop at the Hotel California. The mission bell that sounds contrasts so with the
topic of this song that the bell must symbolize the perversion of life by the drug–use in California
and elsewhere. "This could be Heaven or this could be Hell," furthers the idea of the death of an old
life. Here, the speaker does not really know whether or not his or her new life is going to be
enjoyable in the end. As it turns out, the speaker's new life is hell. Then she lights up a candle, or
perhaps a joint since the place most likely has electricity in the seventies, and shows the speaker the
way. Perhaps the woman is a drug–dealer or a prostitute; ether one could lead a person to a lifestyle
full of drugs and alcohol.

Ghost Stories on Anti- Government Demonstrations
Peter Pocket who was very charismatic stood on his soap box in Hyde Park Corner, in Old London
Town, Great Britannia and giving anti government speeches. The land was now in financial ruin and
there was unrest everywhere thanks to the government led by Premier Blabberon. Under
Blabberon's tenure, the majority of the populace felt the full impact of the government's austerity
measures. People were loosing what they once believed to be secure jobs and they were left
homeless and destitute. It had taken a considerable period of time before people realised what the
government's true intentions were. What riled them most was the bedroom tax that they were forced
to pay on any unoccupied bedrooms. This as the reader would imagine led to far greater hardship.
Peter travelled throughout British Isles to garner support for the biggest anti government
demonstration in the history of the land. He declared that there would be unrest and civil
disobedience until the government relented. Premier Blabbleron was unprepared he and his cabinet
ministers became increasingly alarmed. On the eve of the great march. Peter was run over by a hit
and run driver and killed instantly. An outcry followed. Many people were convinced that he had
been assassinated and were determined to seek justice. *** Premier Blabbleron and the Chancellor
of the Exchequer Frogspawn were both medium height and slimy and had gelled hair. Deputy Dregg

Graycloud By John Nola Analysis
Like Nola, Ruth Graycloud, was exploited and subjugated by her white husband, John Tate. Ruth
was Moses Graycloud's twin sister. Like Nola, Ruth was an Osage woman who became a victim of
one of the white men who married Native American women to get access to Osage oil wealth.
Despite marrying a Native American woman, Tate had no respect to Native Americans. As Yanka
Kroumova Krasteva contends, ''Tate constantly takes pictures of the Indians, as if they were
archaeological finds. And this is the way he treats his Indian wife'' (55). Tate was a photographer; he
used to appear at all significant events in the Indian territory ''standing behind the three– legged
stand that held his camera, his head covered with black cloth, his own good eye seeing everything
through glass lenses (Hogan, Mean Spirit 58). He used to photograph Native Americans and send
their pictures to magazines. Tate first used Ruth as ''a model then as source of income''. (Hogan,
Mean Spirit 179). He humiliated and abused her; he did not love her, disliked to be seen with her.
They ''seldom went anywhere together, but when they did, he never walked at her side (Hogan,
Mean Spirit 134). At the end of Mean Spirit Tate killed Ruth. As a result, Moses shot him dead.
In fact, Hogan highlights the oppression inflicted upon women. Meanwhile, she pinpoints the
previously discussed ecofeminist principle that women's liberation is inseparable from the struggle
against the oppression and abuse of

Cutlass-Beaked River Hawk
The Cutlass–beaked river hawk, or aceros amnicus, is a very unique bird of prey. The latin root
aceros means sharp, and amnicus means it is from a river. It lives near rivers and has very sharp
talons as well as an extremely sharp beak, which goes along with its scientific name. The sharp
talons allow it to catch prey trying to flee from it. It's feet are rather large, and that makes catching
moving prey and gripping on to trees much easier. This hawk lives in an environment in which the
amount of fish and small mammals is abundant. Since it feeds on this type of prey, it's relatively
easy for the hawk to find food. Most of the time it is able to catch its prey because of its incredible
speed, sharp talons, and beak. It's feathers are very aerodynamic, allowing it to ... Show more

It has a dark green color, which allows it to blend in with the bushes and other vegetation around it.
This helps it because it can also sneak up on its prey and hide from predators. Since it is able to fly
very high, they build their nests high up in the trees by the river. This provides its chicks with plenty
of protection from predators on the ground. This can also pose a threat for the hawk's chicks since
there is a possibility that a chick can fall out of the nest. This is very unlikely to happen, since the
mother hawk is always reinforcing the nest with various twigs found along the riverbank once the
chicks have hatched, while the male hawk watches over the baby birds or catches food for them. The
female river hawk lays the eggs, which must be kept warm and dry in order for the unborn chick to
survive. The nest also must be reinforced when the mother it incubating her eggs or they could fall.
Generally, these river hawks are pretty well–behaved and they have really good

Flight in Song of Solomon, Native Son, A Worn Path, Sad Sweet Story of Sugar Lips Shinehot, and
Portable Promised, and Land First Eagle Story
Since the beginning of time all human beings have had a fascination with human flight. Watching a
bird soar through the air, one cannot help but desire the same capabilities. Imagine the point of view
of the bird that flies high above the trees, among the mountains, over the ocean, and high in the air,
far away from the clamor of everyday life on the ground. To have the freedom and power to release
ones self from the tribulations experienced with two feet on the ground, and spring up and away into
the peaceful, blue sky is a common human desire. Since ancient times, flight has represented the ...

Flight represents more to the minority than mastering nature or freeing ones self from the bonds of
gravity. To the minority, flight represents freedom. Freedom from the chains of slavery, freedom
from the trappings of this world, freedoms from that which may cause them or their families harm.
America, as a country, is made up of various races and cultures even carries as its symbol of
freedom the Bald Eagle. Although there are differences in literary references to flight among
African–American, Hispanic, and American–Indian writers, the common thread among them all is
the powerful desire for freedom through flight.
To the African American, references to flight almost always exclusively represent freedom. Whether
these references are in the form of novels, short stories, poetry, or music, the history of the African's
brought to America to serve as slaves is primarily based on the idea of freedom. Just as it is stated in
Course Objective 1a, forced participation was brought about by the acquisition of slaves. They did
not choose to leave their native home of Africa, nor did they choose to live out their lives as slaves
in a foreign country among foreign white people who showed little compassion for their plight. This
left slaves feeling trapped and bound, spiritually, and often times physically, therefore "flight is
frequently exercised as a means of escape for African Americans from their position of oppression

The Species Taxonomy Of Barn Owls
Taxonomy
The species taxonomy, according to Sieders (2009), is as follows:
Kingdom: Animalia Phylum: Chordata Class: Aves Order: Strigiformes Family: Tytonidae Genus:
Tyto Species: alba
According to Bachynski and Harris (2002), Tyto alba, commonly referred to as the Barn Owl, has 35
recognized subspecies worldwide. These individuals are differentiated by their body size, coloration,
and geographic location. The subspecies that resides in North America is known as Tyto alba
pratincola. (Bachynski & Harris, 2002).
The barn owl has been referred to by many other common names, including: Lesser Masked–Owl,
Monkey–Faced Owl, Cave Owl, Death Owl, Delicate Owl, Demon Owl, Ghost Owl, Golden Owl,

They can be found near grasslands, open fields, and woodlands. More recently, they have moved
closer to rural and urban areas where prey is more abundant. (Sieders, 2009). Wild Feeding Habits
The Tyto species is unique with their heart–shaped facial disc that reflects sounds waves to the inner
ear. This ability allows the nocturnal predator to hunt in complete darkness. These attacks also come
as a surprise to their prey, as they are able to perform silent flight with their fringed wing design.
(Sieders, 2009).
These owls possess a higher metabolic rate, eating more than most other owls. Their diet changes
with prey availability rather than a change of season like some animals. In Australia, Sieders (2009)
reports that their most common prey is the introduced long–haired rat and the house mouse.
Australia has had an infestation problem with these prey species. They have also been recorded
eating small mammals, bats, baby rabbits, caterpillars, frogs, lizards, gophers, shrews, and voles.
Smaller prey items are swallowed whole while the larger items can be torn into smaller pieces
before consumption. (Sieders,

Hotel California Poetic Devices
In the Eagles' song, Hotel California, the speaker describes their freedom in California before
coming across this hotel with beautiful women. Unfortunately for him, everything was not as it
seems. The song is very light and cheerful in the beginning, hinting at themes of innocence.
Although later in the song, the hotel takes on a slightly darker look as the speaker discovers its real
purpose. In the song, Hotel California, the use of poetic devices to describe its themes of innocence
and desire become prevalent. The use of metaphors show how the incoming insanity has seeped into
the hotel through the song's theme of desire, whereas the imagery shows the speakers depth of
innocence in the beginning of the song. The poetic devices used throughout ... Show more content

The metaphors used in the song show this. In line twenty–seven, "Her mind is Tiffany–twisted,
[...]." This metaphor means that the woman is obsessed with desire for wealth; referring to her being
twisted by Tiffany and Co. which is a posh jewelry company. This metaphor's meaning is important
because its points back to theme of desire in which she is consumed by desire for wealth. In line
fifty–four, "And she said, 'We are all prisoners here, of our own device.'" This metaphor is straight–
forward as in the women staying at the hotel are prisoners to their wealth and desire. This metaphor
is also another example of theme of desire. The song itself is also a metaphor. The Hotel California
is not place, but it represents the California lifestyle and Hollywood industry with its desire for
riches and innocence when first arriving there. The pun on line twenty–eight again represents the
theme of desire. On line twenty–eight, "Mercedes bends." This clever pun could be seen as a
misspelling, but it's not. This pun means that the woman gets the bends (a type scuba–diving
sickness from surfacing too fast) from her Mercedes–Benz which means her world–view is distorted
by her greed for wealth. When the speaker first arrives at the

In search of an eagle
When Jeremy and Eliana Bookbinder, two 20–year–old twins who worked at Camp Marriot for the
Boy Scouts, heard about an injured hawk on a hiking trail close to where they were working, they
decided to go check it out. Little did they know at the time that by doing so, they would be fired.
Although it was her day off, Eliana Bookbinder put on her uniform and asked her boss if she could
call the Wildlife Center of Virginia once the bird was found. She was told that he would have to
check with the Goshen superintendent. So Bookbinder headed out on her search for what she
thought at the time was a hawk. But when she finally found the injured bird, she realized it was
actually a bald eagle.
Bookbinder texted her boss a photo and also called him to discuss the eagle. Instead of approval, she
was met with an order to not call the wildlife rehabilitation center, or transport it to a wildlife
veterinarian.
"I pointed out that this was a massive violation of the Scout law," Bookbinder told the Washington
Post. "Part of the Scout law

The adaptability and evolutionary history of Raptors is remarkable and a learning opportunity for
humans.
Some raptors are acrobats and blur through dangerous tree lines and brush to catch prey with its
agility and speed. Others take a less energy consuming route by soaring high above plains and
grasslands and only take advance towards prey with large talons and its eyesight that is to be
marveled at. A few take an even more conservative approach by feeding on the already deceased and
rotting flesh of almost any carrion. There is also a species of raptor that uses its ability to see at night
as if everything is illuminated and sits or stalks its prey through the night. Raptors have evolved
different methods of survival but all species are related in many ways as well.
Living life every day risking life and limb is something that some raptors have chosen due to their
innate ability to out–match its prey with extreme speed and ultimate agility. These raptors mainly
belong to the family of buteo or hawks; such as the sharp–shinned hawk, Swainson's hawk, and
Cooper's Hawk. They are small, long–tailed hawks with short, rounded wings. "They have small
heads that in flight do not always project beyond the "wrists" of the wings" (allaboutbirds.org). Most

Persuasive Essay On Bald Eagles
Throughout my childhood when everyone saw a bald eagle, they would be awe in. People always
said something like, "Wow that's an amazing sight. There aren't too many of those in the US
anymore." I've always wondered why this is. It wasn't until recently that my interest in bald eagles
was re–introduced. About a few weeks ago during lacrosse practice, a bald eagle was soaring above
Sodexo Field. My coach goes, "Aren't there only like 20 of those left?." At the time I knew that bald
eagles were taken of the Endangered Species List, but that's all I knew. I figured this would be a
good project to research and get the full history of bald eagles.
During the late 1700s, Bald eagles were at their peak with having between 25,000 to 75,000 in the

similar to DDT that contaminate commercial DDT preparations.
DDT was first created in 1874 and

this work. During World War II, DDT applied to the skin in powder form proved an effective means
to control lice in soldiers. But it wasn't just DDT's multiuse that led to its use; Carson says it was a

The Evolution Of Owls
Owls are interesting nocturnal animals that have evolved in many ways other than birds. There are
over 200 different species of owls and they have all evolved differently but they share some
common characteristics. Some environmental adaptations that owls have are silent flight, keen
eyesight, and the ability to hunt. Owls have silent flight which helps them catch prey. They also fly
without much effort, because their wings are large compared with the size of their bodies. With large
wings and a light body one can see an owl fly past but they will most likely not hear them. Because
of this owls can carry heavy animals, fly among thick trees, and hover above open fields. Owls have
silent flight from fringed feathers that muffle the sound

Environmental Effects On Bald Eagles
Although the concentrations of environmental contaminants in the prey of the nesting eagles were
one of the factors influencing bald eagle reproductive success, there was also habitat availability and
human disturbances. Territories unoccupied by another breeding pair must include sufficient nest,
perch, and roost trees, foraging areas, and a prey base in sufficient quantities to successfully raise
their young. Human disturbances that affect the populations must be of a type, degree, amount, and
timing not cause nest abandonment (Bowerman et. al 1995). Even though there all these other
factors, the contaminants was still looked at as the most important.
Bald Eagles were the main species of birds that had detrimental effects from the DDT that ... Show

Just like DDT, these insecticides are not only affecting their target species but they are also
impacting the other species that come into contact with them. These human–introduced
contaminants have had many negative impacts on non–target species. One major insect that
insecticides are used for today is a mosquito. An ecotoxicology study was conduced where they
examined the effects of commercial mosquito insecticide formulations and predation on the survival,
growth, and development of a species of tadpoles (Pauley et. al 2015). They had to take into
consideration environmental stressors like predation and temperature because that can change the
lethality of the insecticide. They used three insecticide formulations: mosquito bits, mosquito dunks,
and mosquito torpedoes. Mosquito dunks showed the biggest significance because they caused a
decrease in tadpole survival when used with a predator. The predator was used as an environmental
stressor that affected the lethality of the formulation. This caused the decrease in that tad pole
species. Similar predator–insecticide interactions have been found using a variety of insecticides and
herbicides, incorporating multiple environmental sources of amphibian stress (Pauley et. al

Most nesting locations are amongst dense shrubbery and branches of small trees and are built lower
to the ground. In order to defend his nest the male sings in a loud, clear whistle from the top of a tree
or another high location. Sometimes males will attack their reflection often spending hours charging
at what they perceive as unwelcome intruders.
The male is the one to show off to attract a mate. Sometimes you'll see the male pick up a seed, hop
over to the female, and the two momentarily touch beaks as she takes the food, this is called "mate
feeding". Females choose their mates based on the male's qualities such as the size of his black face
mask as well as the color of his plumage and bill. When the female agrees to become his mate they
sing to each other.
The cardinal is a ground feeder and finds food while hopping through forests and shrubbery. The
adults diet consists of insects, spiders, wild fruits, berries, and weed seeds. They feed their young
almost exclusively on insects. In the winter, Cardinals eat more seeds and berries since insects are

Opening Paragraph On Baccarat Strategy System
Baccarat Strategy System
Opening Paragraph
In the Baccarat game, the system of play that promises the highest odds of winning is the basic
Baccarat strategy of betting on the player rather than the bank. The other strategies that promise
great odds of winning include the Golden Baccarat Strategy and the Silver Tiger Baccarat strategy.
The Golden Baccarat system of play is much more advanced than the basic Baccarat play strategy.
On the other hand, the Silver Tiger Baccarat system is faster and more aggressive compared to the
Golden Baccarat strategy.
The Game of Baccarat
The game of Baccarat can be played by a small or big group of players, as long as the player's and
the banker's hand are dealt. The decisions made in the game of Baccarat are all determined by the
digit value appearing on the cards. The hand that draws the highest score wins. On the other hand, if
a tie ensues, all the tie bets are paid as the remaining bets await the next hand. The aim of the game
is to achieve the closest score to 9. This means you can bet on either hand or on a tie. Baccarat is
often played using a deck of 6 or 8 cards. Once everything is set to begin the game, the dealer
shuffles the cards and then places them in a shoe or special box to start the dealing. The history of
Baccarat can be traced to Europe back in the 1400's. Today, the game continues to attract high
rollers in the society, who are drawn to the game's high odds of winning.

The Eagles started out as any other band would by strumming their guitars and beating the drums in
their garage of their parents house. Later, they began their real career as a backup band for Linda
Ronstadt. The Eagles began as an all American Rock band in Los Angeles in 1971 by band members
Glenn Frey, Don Henley, Bernie Leadon, and Randy Meisner. The Eagles, being number one in the
world in the 70's, have been given awards for their creativity and meaning in their music. "With five
number–one singles, six Grammy Awards, five American Music Awards, and six number one
albums"(Graff), the Eagles were one of the most successful bands of the 1970s. Their music
changed history in their time. Many of their songs on their number one albums got into the "Rolling
Stones Top 500 Songs of All Time" list"(Graff). This song Desperado means a lot to me because it
played on the album that I used to sing along in the car with my mom and sister when I was a small
child. It acts as part of a symbol in the childhood that I so dearly cherish, and long to return to. The
song is played on the album "Their Greatest Hits" and has a more country beat to it, which I enjoyed
more, than their more rock and roll take on their music. When I sing along to this song, or any song
on this album, I am taken back to the days where all the windows were down in my mom's white
minivan, blowing my blonde wispy curls in my face, and the heat of the warm sunshine on my skin.

Golden Eagles and Gray Wolves Reproduction
This essay is about reproduction on Golden Eagles and Gray wolves. This will tell you about the

Female gray wolves choose their mates and often form a life–long pair bond. Gray wolf pairs spend
a great deal of time together.
Breeding seasons are between the months of January and April, with northern populations breeding
later in the season than southern populations.Female gray wolves come into heat once each year and
lasts 5 to 14 days, mating will occur during this time. After mating occurs, the female digs a den, to
raise her young. The den is often dug with an entrance that goes down and then goes up again to a
higher area to avoid flooding. Pups are born in the den and will remain there for several weeks after
birth. Other dens are usually under cliffs, under fallen trees, and in caves.
Both fertilisation and development is Internal.
The reproduction period lasts between 60 and 63 days, litter size ranges from 1 to 14, with the
average size being 6 or 7 pups. Pups remain in the den until they are 8 to 10 weeks old. During the
20th to 77th day, the pups leave the den for the first time and learn to play fight. An interaction at
this time, as well as the dominance status of the mother, ultimately determines their position in the
pack. Females stay with their pups almost entirely for the first 3 weeks. All members of the pack
care for pups. Until they are 45 days old all pack members feed the pups regurgitated food. They are
fed meat provided by pack members after that age. Wolf pups develop

Hotel California Rhetorical Devices
Glenn Frey, the co–founder of the Eagles, was a middle class kid living in the midwest. He dreamed
of acquiring tremendous wealth in Los Angeles, but later realized that there are more important
things than money. In their song, Hotel California, originally titled Mexican Reggae, they (The
Eagles) express this idea to their audience through lyrics that convey the idea that there are more
important things than just possessions, and there are negatives to the "American Dream. The
audience in this could be the average person, yet, the rhetorical devices in The Eagles' "Hotel
California" are intended to reveal to the audience that there are negatives to the American Dream,
and you shouldn't change who you are in order to make it rich. In "Hotel California," The Eagles use
antithesis, to show a contrast in the American Dream by stating there are both positives and
negatives by comparing them both as heaven and hell. Frey uses ... Show more content on

In this case Frey uses epithet to describe a hotel in LA. The hotel represents his American dream of
wanting to acquire tremendous wealth in the West. He described this dream with admiration when
he says "Up ahead in the distance, I saw a shimmering light My head grew heavy and my sight grew
dim I had to stop for the night." When he uses the term "shimmering light" it is taken as a positive
attribute because objects that shimmer are often taken as being valuable, much like the materialistic
items associated with the American dream. When he states his sight grew dim and I had to stop for
the night, this represents the underbelly of American Materialism. As a country, Americans are never
satisfied with what they have. This is why he describes it as dim and heavy, both of which are taken
as having negative connotations. Once again Frey represents both sides by using an adjective to

The Movie ' The Golden Eagle '
The moment did become better. South of us, soaring high in the sky appeared an eagle. Not a bald
eagle, but perhaps a golden and it appeared to be closing in on our location as it dropped in altitude.
Mesmerized, eyes locked in on the free bird, it ensued on a flight pattern directly at our position.
The closer it moved in, the swifter it soared. Suddenly, the realization set in that it was too late to
lunge for a camera. The bird rapidly appeared in such proximity the details of the underside wings
were sharply in focus. Holly claims the bird's flight pattern locked in on her, and I believe her. For a
brief moment, an uncomfortable feeling besieged me as I couldn't understand the bird's intentions of
being that close in flight. An actual goose bump or two appeared while a mild chill jettisoned down
my back. It was captivating and eerie at the same time. The golden eagle flew directly over Holly
swooshing past and soaring out over the ravine. If either Holly or I had hastily searched for a
camera, we would have missed the amazing display of soaring free. As with Tim, Holly and I would
also have missed the spectacle if we'd chosen to pursue the glacier. Locating Tim against the
blended landscape became easier as he neared our location. Only a few minutes out, I developed an
eagerness to hear a report of what he'd seen, and to what distance he managed to the glacier. His
return marked a 45 minute absence and he mentioned the ice still remained roughly an hour from his
reach.

history of why the song was written, and the reasoning behind my choosing this song.
Introduction
I. Attention Grabber: Have any of you ever heard of a song that has a different meaning than what
you always thought it meant?
A. One of the most popular that I'm sure most of you have heard of is "Stairway to Heaven," and
how played backwards, it sounds like it is a song of Satan.

one of the most controversial.
II. There were and still are many different theories about the actual meaning and purpose behind
"Hotel California."
A. One theory was that the song was Satanic, and that it was about the Devil and hell.
1. If you listen to some of the lyrics, you can see why people would think this.
2. The line "they stab it with their steely knives, but they just can't kill the beast" kind of sounds like
it is talking about the devil.
3. The line "you can check out anytime you like, but you can never leave" sounds like it is talking
about hell.

My Aspects Of Sports And Sports Events In My Life
The last time I went to a sports event was over a year ago. Reflecting back on that day I had a lot of
fun. I have been to many sports events throughout adolescences into my adult life. Watching the
games was not very fun to me. I went because it was recreational and I was able to bond and enjoy
time with whomever I attended the game with. I am very undecided about favorite teams and I am
very competitive, so I will watch whatever team that battles it out.
The day I attended that game, I was off from work and it was sunny and the weather was beautiful.
My best friend asked if wanted to go watch the eagles play. We called about five more friends to
come with us and we decided to tailgate. We bought pizzas, and beers and headed down to the
stadium. As we pull up and park we unloaded the food and beers. I brought the football out we ran
routes in the parking lot. The game had already begun but we were having too much fun at the time
to pay attention. Once we finished up with the football we started playing cornhole. You play the
game by taking a bean bag and throwing it in your opponent's basket and vice versa. We were
preoccupied the entire time we never went into the stadium to actually watch the football game.
None of us even cared because we been many times and we honestly had more fun with each other
than sitting at watching other people play.
As a fan yes, I love football, basketball, baseball and I know people have to be paid and money has

Heading into the second quarter this one looked very even, even though the Eagles offense was yet to
soar, while the Indians offense had shown a glimpse of going on the warpath a couple of times.
Just twenty six seconds into the second quarter Moore fumble the ball and scooping it up and going
about fifty–six–yards for the score for the Eagles was Chip Parker. Parker easily outran the offense,
who looked like a fighter, who had just been tagged by a Ali right cross. The point after kick was
missed causing this to stay a 13–7 Eagles lead.
The Indians offense would work the ball down to the Eagles thirty–four–yard–line and from there
Chambers electrified the crowd, with a Archie Griffin like run, back when he was running for the
buckeyes. The point after kick gave the Indians the lead at 14–13, with 5:31left in the half. On the
drive the Eagles defense again had problems tackling and this really led to a lot of extra yards for
the Indians.
With 3:41 it appeared their was pass interference on the Indians receiver, but the ref said the ball
was tipped before the interference happened and this led to a interception by Moore on the pass
thrown by Ryan Venable. This play really seem to change the game and in my way of thinking the
Eagles fought hard but never overcame this call.
Defense was big again, with :27 seconds left in the half, when Moore was taken down by #54(Not

Dissection Of Easter Morning By Robert Frost
Dissection of Easter Morning The poem "Easter Morning is a part of the poetry produced by A.R.
Ammons in 1981. A.R. Ammons was interested in the sciences but also held a love for literature. He
liked to involve nature in his work. "Easter Morning" is very abstract, has tropes that further the
images presented, and is not confined to form. "The perception of human ambiguities and abstract
possibilities in homely bits of nature may have originated in Robert Frost."(N.A. 288) His work like
most other authors of his time is influenced by others like Robert Frost and William Carlos
Williams. This poem is heavily influenced by Robert Frost. Frost likes to create poetry that helps
you bring some meaning out of a situation presented in nature. For close inspection, the form,
sentence structures, and syntax are a highlight of what he wants to convey to the reader. "Easter

other literary figures of his time that have an influence on his work, this poem is truly free verse. It
doesn't have any syllabic pattern, or run–on sentences. The syntax is very clear, coherent. It is
almost childlike in its simplicity. This adds to the overall feeling Ammons wants to convey to the
reader. The sentence structure is very precise. He leaves some words all alone that are to cause a
break in the reading. They also leave the reader thinking why he did that. "...all in the graveyard

Personal Essay: My Fear Of The Eagles
For as long as I can remember, I have always admired eagles because of their strength and power.
However, no matter how much I admire them, I always had a certain fear of them because they give
an impression of being distant and scary. However, once I learned how misunderstood they are, the
admiration I have for them grew into love.
I felt, in many ways, that eagles represent me. They are very strong. They fly alone at a very high
altitude away from the other birds and they only interact with other eagles.
Although I have a lot of friends, I only feel a connection to those who I feel think the same way that
I do, I connect with other eagles only.

about their family. Although the eagle seems cruel and distant, he still shows his soft side to those he
loves. I might seem rude to those I dislike, but only to my family and close friends, I show the
compassionate side of me.
The fact that the eagle parents planned the nest shows how people should be ready for changes in
life. The parents cooperating together makes everything better and successful. The fact that they put

should be careful and even if they get hurt a bit, it is a lesson for them to be careful and not too

Strategies And Characteristics Of The Crowned Eagle In Africa
Everyone probably had a thought of being a specific animal for a period of time, perhaps at that
moment, she didn't want to be a human being. So she thought, "A Crowned Eagle would be pretty
interesting." Not only does the name sound super cool and fascinating, but it is a large bird of prey,
in other words, it is the most powerful eagle. The Crowned Eagle won't have to have concerns about
getting eaten, and mostly food supply. Moreover, the Crowned Eagle could just enjoy life without
having to worry about most of the survival needs. Because the strategies and steps of how the eagle
hunts are fantastically amazing. It even has a partner to support on hunting the fast monkeys.
Besides the efficient hunting ability, it also has a strong build–up body. The Crowned eagle has
many firm body parts that will help it to survive, such as the body mass, the strong talons, and the
beak length. Additionally, the flying ability that the Crowned eagle is able to do is beyond
expectations. Being a Crowned Eagle is an interesting thought with combinations of strong hunting
skills, the powerful body structure, and the beauty of flying.
The Crowned eagle is the most powerful eagle in Africa, in other words, the Crowned eagle is
considered the Africa's strongest predator. It's even eliminating over two heavier eagles: the Martial
Eagle, and Verreaux's eagle. According to, DinoAnimals it states, "Crowned Eagle is an excellent

Silent Spring Research Paper

  • 1. silent spring research paper Rachel Carson's Silent Spring, first published in 1962, bright light to how the widespread use of chemical pesticides was posing a serious threat to public health and leading to the destruction of wildlife. While numerous philosophers have written on this topic throughout history, Rachel Carson did an excellent job at creating a more basic way for the general public to comprehend the troubles in the environment at the time. This book was no doubt in response to the increasing awareness in the 1960s of the effects that technology, industry, economic expansion and population growth were having on the environment. Carson's thesis that we were subjecting ourselves to slow poisoning by the misuse of chemical pesticides that polluted the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... DDT (dichlorodiphenyltrichloroethane) is a pesticide described in Silent Spring, once widely used to control insects in agriculture and insects that carry diseases such as malaria. Its use in the U.S. was banned in 1972 because of damage to wildlife, but is still used in some countries today. DDE (dichlorodiphenyldichloroethylene) and DDD (dichlorodiphenyldichloroethane) are chemicals similar to DDT that contaminate commercial DDT preparations. DDE has no commercial use. DDD was also used to kill pests, but its use has also been banned. Because of the widespread use of agricultural chemicals in all crop production, our ecosystem is exposed to levels of pesticide residues constantly. Though Carson talked about other pesticides, it was DDT that was sprayed aerially over large areas of the United States to control all sorts of insects and bugs. DDT was first created in 1874 and discovered to kill insects in 1939 by Paul Hermann Müller, who won the Nobel Prize in 1948 for this work. During World War II, DDT applied to the skin in powder form proved an effective means to control lice in soldiers. But it wasn't just DDT's multiuse that led to its use; Carson says it was a surfeit of product and labor. In her speeches, Carson claimed that after the war, out–of–work pilots and a glut of the product led the United ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 5. Golden Eagles Vs Vultures Species for which the model in Dwyer et al. (2014) performed well are widespread and occupy many habitats in California, but those that performed poorly are at least seasonally tied to specific habitats or geographies. For example, all three species occupy areas with topographic variation. Golden Eagles and Turkey Vultures are obligate cliff nesters, while Common Raven is a facultative cliff nester that also nests in trees and sometimes on powerline poles and transmission towers (Thelander 1974, Grinnell and Miller 1944). In flat areas, power line poles may extend the usefulness of associated habitats to these species by offering elevation over surrounding terrain, a wide field of view, and a point for easy take off (Benson, 1981; Stahlecker, ... Or maybe you imagine a beautiful and noble bird with very likable qualities. Actually, eagles are all of that and more. In the United States, the Bald Eagle is a symbol of justice, strength, and fairness. The Bald Eagle is after all, our national symbol. However, to the rest of the world the eagle may bring to mind many different images. That is because there are many different types of eagles. In fact there are about 59 different species of eagles throughout the world, and they can be found on every continent except Antarctica. • 13. Essay about Hotel California: The Californian Lifestyle "Hotel California" by The Eagles has been the recipient of much speculation since its release in 1976. Although many other interpretations exist including some which claim this song to be referencing drugs, much evidence suggests that "Hotel California" is, at least partly, making a statement about the lifestyle of drug and alcohol users particularly in the large cities of California. As with many songs, duality of meaning exists in "Hotel California." Since "Hotel California" debuted in the seventies, one can understand why the topic would be Californian drug–using lifestyle. "The scare tactics of the 1960s gave way to the contradictory messages of the late '70s and early '80s. Drugs became glamorous, without becoming better understood" ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... After examining the whole song, one can guess that the song makes the claim that marijuana is a drug that allows easy passage to worse drugs. According to "a 1969 Gallup poll, only 4% of American adults said they had tried marijuana. Thirty–four percent said they didn't know the effects of marijuana, but 43% thought it was used by many or some high school kids" (Robison); therefore, many individuals might not understand that marijuana, as many claim today, leads to usage of more harmful substances. The speaker then sees a shimmering light as if he is about to die which signifies the death of an old life and the birth of a new one. The temptation of drugs becomes too strong, so the speaker has to stop at the Hotel California. The mission bell that sounds contrasts so with the topic of this song that the bell must symbolize the perversion of life by the drug–use in California and elsewhere. "This could be Heaven or this could be Hell," furthers the idea of the death of an old life. Here, the speaker does not really know whether or not his or her new life is going to be enjoyable in the end. As it turns out, the speaker's new life is hell. Then she lights up a candle, or perhaps a joint since the place most likely has electricity in the seventies, and shows the speaker the way. Perhaps the woman is a drug–dealer or a prostitute; ether one could lead a person to a lifestyle full of drugs and alcohol. "Her mind is Tiffany–twisted, she got the Mercedes bends," (The Eagles) ... • 17. Ghost Stories on Anti- Government Demonstrations Peter Pocket who was very charismatic stood on his soap box in Hyde Park Corner, in Old London Town, Great Britannia and giving anti government speeches. The land was now in financial ruin and there was unrest everywhere thanks to the government led by Premier Blabberon. Under Blabberon's tenure, the majority of the populace felt the full impact of the government's austerity measures. People were loosing what they once believed to be secure jobs and they were left homeless and destitute. It had taken a considerable period of time before people realised what the government's true intentions were. What riled them most was the bedroom tax that they were forced to pay on any unoccupied bedrooms. This as the reader would imagine led to far greater hardship. Peter travelled throughout British Isles to garner support for the biggest anti government demonstration in the history of the land. He declared that there would be unrest and civil disobedience until the government relented. Premier Blabbleron was unprepared he and his cabinet ministers became increasingly alarmed. On the eve of the great march. Peter was run over by a hit and run driver and killed instantly. An outcry followed. Many people were convinced that he had been assassinated and were determined to seek justice. *** Premier Blabbleron and the Chancellor of the Exchequer Frogspawn were both medium height and slimy and had gelled hair. • 21. Graycloud By John Nola Analysis Like Nola, Ruth Graycloud, was exploited and subjugated by her white husband, John Tate. Ruth was Moses Graycloud's twin sister. Like Nola, Ruth was an Osage woman who became a victim of one of the white men who married Native American women to get access to Osage oil wealth. Despite marrying a Native American woman, Tate had no respect to Native Americans. As Yanka Kroumova Krasteva contends, ''Tate constantly takes pictures of the Indians, as if they were archaeological finds. And this is the way he treats his Indian wife'' (55). Tate was a photographer; he used to appear at all significant events in the Indian territory ''standing behind the three– legged stand that held his camera, his head covered with black cloth, his own good eye seeing everything through glass lenses (Hogan, Mean Spirit 58). He used to photograph Native Americans and send their pictures to magazines. Tate first used Ruth as ''a model then as source of income''. (Hogan, Mean Spirit 179). He humiliated and abused her; he did not love her, disliked to be seen with her. They ''seldom went anywhere together, but when they did, he never walked at her side (Hogan, Mean Spirit 134). At the end of Mean Spirit Tate killed Ruth. As a result, Moses shot him dead. In fact, Hogan highlights the oppression inflicted upon women. Meanwhile, she pinpoints the previously discussed ecofeminist principle that women's liberation is inseparable from the struggle against the oppression and abuse of ... • 25. Cutlass-Beaked River Hawk The Cutlass–beaked river hawk, or aceros amnicus, is a very unique bird of prey. The latin root aceros means sharp, and amnicus means it is from a river. It lives near rivers and has very sharp talons as well as an extremely sharp beak, which goes along with its scientific name. The sharp talons allow it to catch prey trying to flee from it. It's feet are rather large, and that makes catching moving prey and gripping on to trees much easier. This hawk lives in an environment in which the amount of fish and small mammals is abundant. Since it feeds on this type of prey, it's relatively easy for the hawk to find food. Most of the time it is able to catch its prey because of its incredible speed, sharp talons, and beak. It's feathers are very aerodynamic, allowing it to ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... It has a dark green color, which allows it to blend in with the bushes and other vegetation around it. This helps it because it can also sneak up on its prey and hide from predators. Since it is able to fly very high, they build their nests high up in the trees by the river. This provides its chicks with plenty of protection from predators on the ground. This can also pose a threat for the hawk's chicks since there is a possibility that a chick can fall out of the nest. This is very unlikely to happen, since the mother hawk is always reinforcing the nest with various twigs found along the riverbank once the chicks have hatched, while the male hawk watches over the baby birds or catches food for them. The female river hawk lays the eggs, which must be kept warm and dry in order for the unborn chick to survive. The nest also must be reinforced when the mother it incubating her eggs or they could fall. Generally, these river hawks are pretty well–behaved and they have really good ... Flight in Song of Solomon, Native Son, A Worn Path, Sad Sweet Story of Sugar Lips Shinehot, and Portable Promised, and Land First Eagle Story Since the beginning of time all human beings have had a fascination with human flight. Watching a bird soar through the air, one cannot help but desire the same capabilities. Imagine the point of view of the bird that flies high above the trees, among the mountains, over the ocean, and high in the air, far away from the clamor of everyday life on the ground. To have the freedom and power to release ones self from the tribulations experienced with two feet on the ground, and spring up and away into the peaceful, blue sky is a common human desire. Flight represents more to the minority than mastering nature or freeing ones self from the bonds of gravity. To the minority, flight represents freedom. Freedom from the chains of slavery, freedom from the trappings of this world, freedoms from that which may cause them or their families harm. America, as a country, is made up of various races and cultures even carries as its symbol of freedom the Bald Eagle. Although there are differences in literary references to flight among African–American, Hispanic, and American–Indian writers, the common thread among them all is the powerful desire for freedom through flight. To the African American, references to flight almost always exclusively represent freedom. Whether these references are in the form of novels, short stories, poetry, or music, the history of the African's brought to America to serve as slaves is primarily based on the idea of freedom. Just as it is stated in Course Objective 1a, forced participation was brought about by the acquisition of slaves. They did not choose to leave their native home of Africa, nor did they choose to live out their lives as slaves in a foreign country among foreign white people who showed little compassion for their plight. This left slaves feeling trapped and bound, spiritually, and often times physically, therefore "flight is frequently exercised as a means of escape for African Americans from their position of oppression ... (Bachynski & Harris, 2002). (Sieders, 2009). Wild Feeding Habits The Tyto species is unique with their heart–shaped facial disc that reflects sounds waves to the inner ear. This ability allows the nocturnal predator to hunt in complete darkness. These attacks also come as a surprise to their prey, as they are able to perform silent flight with their fringed wing design. (Sieders, 2009). These owls possess a higher metabolic rate, eating more than most other owls. Their diet changes with prey availability rather than a change of season like some animals. In Australia, Sieders (2009) reports that their most common prey is the introduced long–haired rat and the house mouse. Australia has had an infestation problem with these prey species. They have also been recorded eating small mammals, bats, baby rabbits, caterpillars, frogs, lizards, gophers, shrews, and voles. • 37. Hotel California Poetic Devices In the Eagles' song, Hotel California, the speaker describes their freedom in California before coming across this hotel with beautiful women. Unfortunately for him, everything was not as it seems. The song is very light and cheerful in the beginning, hinting at themes of innocence. Although later in the song, the hotel takes on a slightly darker look as the speaker discovers its real purpose. In the song, Hotel California, the use of poetic devices to describe its themes of innocence and desire become prevalent. The use of metaphors show how the incoming insanity has seeped into the hotel through the song's theme of desire, whereas the imagery shows the speakers depth of innocence in the beginning of the song. This metaphor means that the woman is obsessed with desire for wealth; referring to her being twisted by Tiffany and Co. which is a posh jewelry company. This metaphor's meaning is important because its points back to theme of desire in which she is consumed by desire for wealth. In line fifty–four, "And she said, 'We are all prisoners here, of our own device.'" This metaphor is straight– forward as in the women staying at the hotel are prisoners to their wealth and desire. This metaphor is also another example of theme of desire. The song itself is also a metaphor. The Hotel California is not place, but it represents the California lifestyle and Hollywood industry with its desire for riches and innocence when first arriving there. The pun on line twenty–eight again represents the theme of desire. On line twenty–eight, "Mercedes bends." This clever pun could be seen as a misspelling, but it's not. This pun means that the woman gets the bends (a type scuba–diving sickness from surfacing too fast) from her Mercedes–Benz which means her world–view is distorted by her greed for wealth. Boy Scout Camp Employees Fired For Rescuing A Bald Eagle Title: Boy Scout Camp Employees Fired For Rescuing a Bald Eagle Category: News & Opinion Tags: Teaser: Two Scout camp employees, found themselves in hot water after coming to aid of an injured bird. Article: Sometimes sticking to one's moral and ethical convictions is more important than even your job. After two camp employees decided to try to save an injured bald eagle, they were reprimanded and fired for breaking a federal law. In search of an eagle When Jeremy and Eliana Bookbinder, two 20–year–old twins who worked at Camp Marriot for the Boy Scouts, heard about an injured hawk on a hiking trail close to where they were working, they decided to go check it out. Little did they know at the time that by doing so, they would be fired. Although it was her day off, Eliana Bookbinder put on her uniform and asked her boss if she could call the Wildlife Center of Virginia once the bird was found. She was told that he would have to check with the Goshen superintendent. So Bookbinder headed out on her search for what she thought at the time was a hawk. But when she finally found the injured bird, she realized it was actually a bald eagle. Bookbinder texted her boss a photo and also called him to discuss the eagle. Instead of approval, she was met with an order to not call the wildlife rehabilitation center, or transport it to a wildlife veterinarian. "I pointed out that this was a massive violation of the Scout law," Bookbinder told the Washington Post. "Part of the Scout law ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

House Due: June 15, 2015 Dr. Yunger The adaptability and evolutionary history of Raptors is remarkable and a learning opportunity for humans. Some raptors are acrobats and blur through dangerous tree lines and brush to catch prey with its agility and speed. Others take a less energy consuming route by soaring high above plains and grasslands and only take advance towards prey with large talons and its eyesight that is to be marveled at. A few take an even more conservative approach by feeding on the already deceased and rotting flesh of almost any carrion. There is also a species of raptor that uses its ability to see at night as if everything is illuminated and sits or stalks its prey through the night. Raptors have evolved different methods of survival but all species are related in many ways as well. Living life every day risking life and limb is something that some raptors have chosen due to their innate ability to out–match its prey with extreme speed and ultimate agility. These raptors mainly belong to the family of buteo or hawks; such as the sharp–shinned hawk, Swainson's hawk, and Cooper's Hawk. They are small, long–tailed hawks with short, rounded wings. Territories unoccupied by another breeding pair must include sufficient nest, perch, and roost trees, foraging areas, and a prey base in sufficient quantities to successfully raise their young. Human disturbances that affect the populations must be of a type, degree, amount, and timing not cause nest abandonment (Bowerman et. al 1995). These human–introduced contaminants have had many negative impacts on non–target species. One major insect that insecticides are used for today is a mosquito. An ecotoxicology study was conduced where they examined the effects of commercial mosquito insecticide formulations and predation on the survival, growth, and development of a species of tadpoles (Pauley et. al 2015). They had to take into consideration environmental stressors like predation and temperature because that can change the lethality of the insecticide. They used three insecticide formulations: mosquito bits, mosquito dunks, and mosquito torpedoes. Mosquito dunks showed the biggest significance because they caused a decrease in tadpole survival when used with a predator. The predator was used as an environmental stressor that affected the lethality of the formulation. This caused the decrease in that tad pole species. After mating occurs, the female digs a den, to raise her young. The den is often dug with an entrance that goes down and then goes up again to a higher area to avoid flooding. Pups are born in the den and will remain there for several weeks after birth. Other dens are usually under cliffs, under fallen trees, and in caves. Both fertilisation and development is Internal. The reproduction period lasts between 60 and 63 days, litter size ranges from 1 to 14, with the average size being 6 or 7 pups. Pups remain in the den until they are 8 to 10 weeks old. During the 20th to 77th day, the pups leave the den for the first time and learn to play fight. An interaction at this time, as well as the dominance status of the mother, ultimately determines their position in the pack. Females stay with their pups almost entirely for the first 3 weeks. All members of the pack care for pups. Until they are 45 days old all pack members feed the pups regurgitated food. They are fed meat provided by pack members after that age. Wolf pups develop ... • 113. Hotel California Rhetorical Devices Glenn Frey, the co–founder of the Eagles, was a middle class kid living in the midwest. He dreamed of acquiring tremendous wealth in Los Angeles, but later realized that there are more important things than money. In their song, Hotel California, originally titled Mexican Reggae, they (The Eagles) express this idea to their audience through lyrics that convey the idea that there are more important things than just possessions, and there are negatives to the "American Dream. The audience in this could be the average person, yet, the rhetorical devices in The Eagles' "Hotel California" are intended to reveal to the audience that there are negatives to the American Dream, and you shouldn't change who you are in order to make it rich. In "Hotel California," The Eagles use antithesis, to show a contrast in the American Dream by stating there are both positives and negatives by comparing them both as heaven and hell. Frey uses ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... In this case Frey uses epithet to describe a hotel in LA. The hotel represents his American dream of wanting to acquire tremendous wealth in the West. He described this dream with admiration when he says "Up ahead in the distance, I saw a shimmering light My head grew heavy and my sight grew dim I had to stop for the night." When he uses the term "shimmering light" it is taken as a positive attribute because objects that shimmer are often taken as being valuable, much like the materialistic items associated with the American dream. When he states his sight grew dim and I had to stop for the night, this represents the underbelly of American Materialism. As a country, Americans are never satisfied with what they have. This is why he describes it as dim and heavy, both of which are taken as having negative connotations. Once again Frey represents both sides by using an adjective to modify a noun and make it more clear and ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Not a bald eagle, but perhaps a golden and it appeared to be closing in on our location as it dropped in altitude. Mesmerized, eyes locked in on the free bird, it ensued on a flight pattern directly at our position. The closer it moved in, the swifter it soared. Suddenly, the realization set in that it was too late to lunge for a camera. The bird rapidly appeared in such proximity the details of the underside wings were sharply in focus. Holly claims the bird's flight pattern locked in on her, and I believe her. For a brief moment, an uncomfortable feeling besieged me as I couldn't understand the bird's intentions of being that close in flight. An actual goose bump or two appeared while a mild chill jettisoned down my back. It was captivating and eerie at the same time. The golden eagle flew directly over Holly swooshing past and soaring out over the ravine. If either Holly or I had hastily searched for a camera, we would have missed the amazing display of soaring free. As with Tim, Holly and I would also have missed the spectacle if we'd chosen to pursue the glacier. Locating Tim against the blended landscape became easier as he neared our location. Only a few minutes out, I developed an eagerness to hear a report of what he'd seen, and to what distance he managed to the glacier. His return marked a 45 minute absence and he mentioned the ice still remained roughly an hour from his reach. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Attention Grabber: Have any of you ever heard of a song that has a different meaning than what you always thought it meant? A. One of the most popular that I'm sure most of you have heard of is "Stairway to Heaven," and how played backwards, it sounds like it is a song of Satan. B. The line "they stab it with their steely knives, but they just can't kill the beast" kind of sounds like it is talking about the devil. 3. I have been to many sports events throughout adolescences into my adult life. Watching the games was not very fun to me. I went because it was recreational and I was able to bond and enjoy time with whomever I attended the game with. I am very undecided about favorite teams and I am very competitive, so I will watch whatever team that battles it out. The day I attended that game, I was off from work and it was sunny and the weather was beautiful. My best friend asked if wanted to go watch the eagles play. We called about five more friends to come with us and we decided to tailgate. We bought pizzas, and beers and headed down to the stadium. As we pull up and park we unloaded the food and beers. I brought the football out we ran routes in the parking lot. The game had already begun but we were having too much fun at the time to pay attention. Once we finished up with the football we started playing cornhole. You play the game by taking a bean bag and throwing it in your opponent's basket and vice versa. We were preoccupied the entire time we never went into the stadium to actually watch the football game. None of us even cared because we been many times and we honestly had more fun with each other than sitting at watching other people play. As a fan yes, I love football, basketball, baseball and I know people have to be paid and money has to be made, but the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Specific features of particular groups resulted from similar ways of life, which gives the Falconiformes similar adaptations. Taxonomy systems even divide this order into three orders of Vultures, Raptors and Falconids. The most frequent classification, under which 295 species are divided into 5 families: Cathartidae, Pandionidae, Accipitridae, Sagittariidae and Falconidae. Falconids (Falconidae) includes 61 species from almost all over the world. Birds of Prey have adapted to hunting for prey by having their four toes arranged in a 3:1 perching grip, their claws have evolved in to razor sharp talons that easily allow birds of prey to rip through theirs preys flesh whilst in flight. With specialised hunters such as the Accipitridae and Falconidae, their back talon is the longest and sharpest to secure the prey while in flight. Birds of prey also rely on their specialised bill and upper mandible features characteristic projections, tomial teeth and sharp hooked bills to tear the flesh of their prey. Birds of prey have proportionally larger eyes for their head and have correspondingly keen eyesight. Similar to all predators and prey, most birds of prey have slightly forward facing eyes in comparison to smaller birds that are preyed upon. This was my first trip to Carlisle and it would mark the first time since the 2015 season, that I have watched the Indians. I would be seeing the Eagles for the first time ever. I expected a much larger crowd but as many times this season it was not the case, but those who were there got to see a good competitive game, that was entertaining especially from the defensive side of things. The Indians defense would set the tone early in this one, when Daniel Smith teamed up with teammate Gage Smith, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Heading into the second quarter this one looked very even, even though the Eagles offense was yet to soar, while the Indians offense had shown a glimpse of going on the warpath a couple of times. Just twenty six seconds into the second quarter Moore fumble the ball and scooping it up and going about fifty–six–yards for the score for the Eagles was Chip Parker. Parker easily outran the offense, who looked like a fighter, who had just been tagged by a Ali right cross. The point after kick was missed causing this to stay a 13–7 Eagles lead. The Indians offense would work the ball down to the Eagles thirty–four–yard–line and from there Chambers electrified the crowd, with a Archie Griffin like run, back when he was running for the buckeyes. The point after kick gave the Indians the lead at 14–13, with 5:31left in the half. On the drive the Eagles defense again had problems tackling and this really led to a lot of extra yards for the Indians. With 3:41 it appeared their was pass interference on the Indians receiver, but the ref said the ball was tipped before the interference happened and this led to a interception by Moore on the pass thrown by Ryan Venable. This play really seem to change the game and in my way of thinking the Eagles fought hard but never overcame this call. • 137. Dissection Of Easter Morning By Robert Frost Dissection of Easter Morning The poem "Easter Morning is a part of the poetry produced by A.R. Ammons in 1981. A.R. Ammons was interested in the sciences but also held a love for literature. He liked to involve nature in his work. "Easter Morning" is very abstract, has tropes that further the images presented, and is not confined to form. "The perception of human ambiguities and abstract possibilities in homely bits of nature may have originated in Robert Frost."(N.A. 288) His work like most other authors of his time is influenced by others like Robert Frost and William Carlos Williams. This poem is heavily influenced by Robert Frost. Frost likes to create poetry that helps you bring some meaning out of a situation presented in nature. For close inspection, the form, sentence structures, and syntax are a highlight of what he wants to convey to the reader. "Easter Morning" is in written free verse and divided into verse paragraphs." (enotes.com) Along with the other literary figures of his time that have an influence on his work, this poem is truly free verse. It doesn't have any syllabic pattern, or run–on sentences. The syntax is very clear, coherent. It is almost childlike in its simplicity. This adds to the overall feeling Ammons wants to convey to the reader. The sentence structure is very precise. He leaves some words all alone that are to cause a break in the reading. They also leave the reader thinking why he did that. "...all in the graveyard assembled, done for, ... However, no matter how much I admire them, I always had a certain fear of them because they give an impression of being distant and scary. However, once I learned how misunderstood they are, the admiration I have for them grew into love. I felt, in many ways, that eagles represent me. They are very strong. They fly alone at a very high altitude away from the other birds and they only interact with other eagles. Although I have a lot of friends, I only feel a connection to those who I feel think the same way that I do, I connect with other eagles only. Eagles have many strengths, one of them is having a strong vision. Once the eagle lays his eyes on his prey, he will not let it go until he gets it ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Both work so hard in protecting their kids and family for example putting sharp thorns outside the nest, if any predators reach and try to get inside, they will get hurt. This shows how eagles care about their family. Although the eagle seems cruel and distant, he still shows his soft side to those he loves. I might seem rude to those I dislike, but only to my family and close friends, I show the compassionate side of me. The fact that the eagle parents planned the nest shows how people should be ready for changes in life. The parents cooperating together makes everything better and successful. The fact that they put thorns doesn't put predators in danger only but the kids as well, but this teaches them how they should be careful and even if they get hurt a bit, it is a lesson for them to be careful and not too relaxed which taught them a lesson. There are over 200 different species of owls and they have all evolved differently but they share some common characteristics. Some environmental adaptations that owls have are silent flight, keen eyesight, and the ability to hunt. Owls have silent flight which helps them catch prey. They also fly without much effort, because their wings are large compared with the size of their bodies. With large wings and a light body one can see an owl fly past but they will most likely not hear them.
