THIS POSITION IS A TEMPORARY ASSIGNMENT AND IS NOT COVERED BY THE ARIZONA STATE MERIT SYSTEM.
A Temporary Assignment is an appointment to a position which recurs on a temporary or intermittent basis, and is limited to 1500 hours of employment
per calendar year.
Under the supervision of the Facility Health Administrator, responsible for daily operations of a clinical laboratory setting. Duties include participating in
laboratory analyses and examinations; performing testing and examination of bodily fluids; disposing of all biohazards materials by approved methods;
maintaining all laboratory equipment and supplies; assists in the collection, identification and preservation of samples and specimens. Follows all
Department and Division orders, policies and procedures.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES (KSA's):
KNOWLEDGE: Of all routine laboratory procedures inherent in the operation of an ambulatory health care clinic; considerable knowledge of practices,
techniques, equipment terminology , testing and analysis.
SKILL: In use of laboratory equipment; oral and written communication.
ABILITY: To perform a variety of clinical laboratory procedures, i.e., hemotology, serology, blood chemistry, urinalysis, venipuncture, etc.; keep accurate
records; write reports and form effective working relationships.
PREFERRED CANDIDATE: Will posses a bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university with a major in a biological or physical science that
included laboratory coursework in the basic sciences appropriate to the assignment. Education from an accredited college or university including
courses in biological or physical sciences that included laboratory work and laboratory experience in an appropriate field. Any combination of training
and experience that meet the knowledge, skills and abilities (KSA's) may be substituted.
PRE-EMPLOYMENT REQUIREMENT(S): Employment is contingent on the successful applicant passing a background investigation and a pre-
employment drug test.

State employees are subject to mandatory furlough days scheduled for FY 2011 (6 days) and in FY 2012 (6 days). A furlough is time off without pay and
equals 8 hours per day for full-time employees and is pro-rated for part-time employees.
