Our proposal for our media advanced portfolio is to produce a short film, approximately 5 minutes long with a
film poster and film magazine review page.
The genre I have chosen for my short film is a hybrid Sci-Fi/action narrative. The film will mostly appeal to male
audiences as action is typically linked with males. the age range for my short film will range from teen to middle
aged men as the film includes violence and the use of weapons which is a stereotypical connotation of
masculinity, however seen as though our media product is a hybrid we hope to appeal to the female audience
as well. The short film will have a quite complex narrative, as we wanted to create an effective science fiction
hybrid that leaves you asking questions without the story lacking in detail. Our short film will be a live action as
we wanted to bring our fictional narrative to life.
I will be editing this short film using the skills i learnt from AS and the skills i taught myself, i will also be using special
effects/CGI in the film to construct a science fiction narrative. The syllabus expects the film to last
approximately 5 minutes, but from the research i have done, i found that most short films tend to last 10 minutes
onwards therefore i shall try to limit our film to 7 minutes.
most science fiction short films i have seen tend not to use a heavy amount of CGI to portray the genre, this is
because the audience can immerse themselves more into the narrative as it is more believable, therefore i will
not use allot of CGI to portray in the short film, instead using props, costumes etc. to portray the genre. Inspired
by I, Robot, we thought we would base the persona of our protagonist on Will smith's portrayal of detective
Spooner. Unlike I, Robot, our protagonist has been surgically enhanced as an experiment to create an
advanced security cyborg. For the magazine cover and film poster I will have to research full film productions
as most short films do not have a film poster or a magazine cover.
synopsis:
A world, where dictators, leaders and governments are overthrown by the planets domination of a global
conglomerate company known as B-bionic Inc. which controls all of the worlds security, going tragically wrong
when an extra terrestrials invasion focuses there attention on the company's control servers, gaining the control
of the worlds security. The fate of the planet has now been thrown into the hands of a corrupt 1st gen soldier
prototype who seems to have neglected the effects of the aliens attack.
