Total Physical Response (TPR) 
Itisateachingtechniquethatmixesspeechandactiontoteachlanguagethroughphysicalactivity. 
Thismethodhas3phases: 
1.Pre-teachingkeywords. 
2.Listen,watchanddo. 
3.Listenanddo(jumpledorder). 
Forexample,aclassroomactivitywouldbe:"SimonSays“.

Acquisition Vs Learning 
Therearetwoindependentwaysofdevelopingabilityinsecondlanguages. 
Acquisition:itisasubconsciousprocess,identicalinmostimportantwaystotheprocesschildrenutilizeinacquiringtheirfirstlanguage.Itdoesnotrequireextensiveuseofconsciousgrammaticalrules. 
Learning:itisaconsciousprocessthatconsistsoflearninggrammarrulesofaforeignlanguage.
Silent Period 
Itistheintervaloftimewhenstudentsfeelunabletocommunicateorallyinaforeignlanguage.Itisbettertowaitforstudentstospeaknaturallywhentheyfeelcomfortablebeforeforcingthemtotalk.
Itisthelanguagethatapersonhaslearnedfrombirthorwithinthecriticallearningperiod,orthatapersonspeaksthebestandsoisoftenthebasisforsociolinguisticidentity. 
Mother Tongue
English as a Foreign Language (E.F.L) 
ItisatermappliedfortheuseorstudyoftheEnglishlanguagebynon-nativespeakersincountrieswhereEnglishisgenerallynotusedasawayofcommunication.
English as a Second Language (E.S.L) 
ItisatraditionaltermfortheuseorstudyoftheEnglishlanguagebynon-nativespeakersinanEnglish-speakingenvironment.ThatenvironmentmaybeacountrywhereEnglishisthemothertongueorhasanestablishedrole. 
EnglishasaSecondLanguagealsoreferstospecializedapproachestolanguageteaching,designedforthosewhoseprimarylanguageisnotEnglish.
Drills 
Itisawayofpatternpracticewhichinvolvestherepetitionbylearnersofteachermodelsofrestrictedamountsoforallanguageinput.
Approach 
Itisamethodusedbyteacherstoteachalanguage. 
Forexample,multi-sensorialapproach: Childrenneedtousemorethanonesense.
Phonics 
Itisamethodofteaching,readingandwritingtheEnglishlanguagethatallowsbeginningreaderstodecodenewwrittenwords.
Digital Literacy 
Itistheabilitytounderstandanduseinformationinmultipleformatsfromawiderangeofsourceswhenitispresentedviacomputers. 
Theconceptofliteracygoesbeyondjustbeingabletoread;ithasalwaysmeanttheabilitytoreadwithmeaning=itimpliestheabilityofunderstandingthemeaning.
Multiple Intelligences 
Itisatheorythatidentifiesvarioustypesofintelligenceandnotonlyone. 
ItwasdevelopedbyGardner.Accordingtothistheory,studentscanhavemanydifferentlearningstylesdependingontheirkindofintelligence.
Target language 
Itisthelanguagethatlearnersarestudying,andalsotheindividualitemsofthelanguagethattheywanttolearn,ortheteacherwantsthemtolearn.
