Emma Perkins Creative Writing
Weird. Amusing. Odd. These words would describe my best friend. Emma Perkins is one of my best
friends. She seems to be always there when I do something stupid or dangerous. She could as well
be the cause. One night, an idea had struck me. This would not end well for me or for those who I
would choose to involve.
First, a plan had fully formed the night before I was to execute it. The plan involved a ton of
different memes and paper. The memes ranged from ancient to dead to recent. For half an hour, I
was cutting out memes and coloring them. In between the meme cutting, I was attempting to fold a
paper box to fit the memes inside. The memes were barely enough to fulfill the empty space in the
box. I added more memes like doge. I finally was finished with a final product. The final product
would serve as an engagement ring and box. I was going to propose to Emma Perkins.
The next day, I ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
It started when a few acquaintances and friends started clapping and cheering. Suddenly, the entire
lunchroom erupted with clapping. I was laughing and dying on the ground, well not literally. I was
highly embarrassed as I was expecting it to just between Emma and I. One question rose to my
mind. Why were people clapping? Emma and I both looked at each other with a questionable look.
It wouldn't be long before people started swarming closer. The lunch lady questioned us about what
had occurred. My friend answered. More questions were asked. A majority of them was about what
exactly happened and if we were dating. Throughout the day, we were referred to as the lesbian
couple and many curious on what our relationship was. That was a very amusing day.
Why did I think that was a good idea? Ever since that day, people still think that we are dating. I
learned that all my ideas are not good ideas. Some are worse than others. Now, Emma and I have an
interesting memory added to the memories of stupid things that we did

Personal Narrative: The Day I Scored
Taylor Overstreet
September 26, 2014
The day I scored People cheering! Stomping on the bleachers as hard as they could. Filling the air
with noise. Everyone was standing p clapping and yelling. The other team disappointed as they saw
the ball go into the goal. Their goalie tried to stop it but couldn't get to it in time.
Earlier that day I was at home getting ready for my soccer game. My mom was helping me put my
hair up in a ponytail. She also had to get the clothes I had to wear for the game. After I got ready we
headed to the game. We always had to be there earlier than the game started, so we had time to
warm up, but after we warmed up we had to sit on the bench until the game started.
It was so hot you could feel the summer sun beaming

Analysis
(Start with hand clapping rhythm and tap the bass rhythm with foot from Unsquare Dance) Good
afternoon everyone. I am Tom and today we will be looking at how great composers use fascinating
rhythm. Let's take a look at two fantastic songs, The Beatles, Strawberry Fields Forever, and the
other by Dave Brubeck, Unsquare Dance.
In 1961 American Composer Dave Brubeck wrote a piece called Unsquare Dance. Unsquare Dance
is a jazz piece in 7/4. The fact that it is in 7/4 is very strange, as this is an uncommon time signature.
This piece falls under the genre of free jazz, allowing the soloist to play whatever they want. Free
jazz has no set structure to it, although Unsquare Dance does have a blues structure, this can be
found in the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The hand clapping is always on the off beat, yet still accented, and the bass line is constantly on the
beat. These layers of rhythm being played simultaneously create juxtaposition. This gives the
atmosphere of energy in the piece.
Now, moving on to Strawberry Fields Forever first performed by The Beatles in 1967. The
composition is credited to both John Lennon and Paul McCartney. There are arguments to support
that Lennon is the soul composer, but this unconfirmed. This piece is classified as a psychedelic pop
song. Songs of this genre used strange recording techniques such as playing the tape backwards, and
using unusual instruments. Strawberry Fields Forever made use of these techniques, the end of the
song is played in reverse and a sitar is used. This is a very typical song of that era and culture.
Upon hearing the opening of Strawberry Fields Forever you will notice that it sounds very lethargic.
There are many reasons for this. At the end of most phrases there are tied notes across the bar;
therefore the listener is not hearing the first beat of that bar, which is the strongest beat in a bar, an
example of this is bar 5. It is interesting to note that some in phrases, the melody line drops in pitch
on the last note, almost like a sigh. Long droning notes in the background add to the lazy feel.
Finally, there are sections where a solo instrument is playing.

Outcome And SMART Goals: Case Study
Outcomes & SMART Goals
The music department at Clayton Ridge consists of two staff members. One instructor's
responsibilities include K–1 general music, and 4–12 instrumental music. The other instructor
(myself) is responsible for 2–5 general music, and 6–12 choir. Because both the instrumental teacher
and myself educate fourth graders, that is a valuable circumstance in which we can collaborate
assessing students within the National Music Standards (2014). We have met throughout previous
PLCs to determine our preferred standards, which will qualify as our district music essential skills
for fourth graders. Together, we will select multiple sources of data to ensure our music students are
mastering the knowledge and skills that will ensure ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
1. Practice, Rehearsals & Performances
Teachers will introduce and review proper singing and musical instrument techniques, which will be
implemented in the preparation for two public concerts (summative assessment).
Students will be actively engaged in this learning; teacher will visually observe this behavior, and
video record this practice once per week.
Data will be collected and analyzed from this video documentation, and PLC members will report
the percentages or results of student engagement and effort.
On one occasion (approximately mid–term) each semester, students will be given a short solo (vocal
and instrumental) to perform for the teacher and fellow classmates. If a student is uncomfortable,
they may approach the instructor to increase comfortableness.

Howard Gardner's Theory Of Multiple Intelligence Essay
HOWARD GARDNER'S THEORY OF MULTIPLE INTELLIGENCES A professor of education at
Harvard University, Dr. Howard Gardner, developed the theory of multiple intelligences in 1983
(American Institute for Learning and Human Development, n.d.). Gardner's theory suggests that
traditional intelligence tests such as IQ tests, only meausures a limited aspect of human intelligence.
Instead, this theory suggests that people have potential in eight areas of intelligence which are;
linguistic, logical–mathematic, spatial, bodily–kinesthetic, musical, interpersonal, intrapesonal, and
naturalist. People who have linguistic intelligence are good with words, they are able to use written
and spoken words to effectively express themselves. Individuals who are logical–mathematic
intelligent are able to anaylze problems logically, and use mathematical operations and the scientific
method to solve problems. If a person's strength is in musical intelligence, they have the ability to
perform, compose and recognize musical patterns. Boldily–kinesthetic intelligence means an
individual uses their physical abilities to solve problems. Spatial intelligence is the ability to
recognize and use and interpret pictures. Interpersonal and intrapersonal intelligences deal with
understanding other people's (intrapersonal) and your own (interpersonal) feelings and motivations.
Lastly, naturalist intellgience is the ability to recognize and appreciate the relationship between
humans and nature ("Gardner

The Night Of The Lake
The ride across the lake was everything Rose had imagined and more. She even thought she might
have seen the giant squid poke up out of the water. She tried to point it out to Albus, but it had
disappeared when he looked over.
They finally pulled up to the shore and began following Hagrid up the grounds to the castle. It was
so much bigger than she had imagined.
"It's so big," Albus said in awe.
"I was just thinking the same thing," Rose replied.
The students sidled up to the entrance. The doors opened and Hagrid shepherded the student into the
Hall.
"Professor Longbottom will be with you in a moment to explain what will happen next. If any of
you ever need someone to talk to or a cup o' tea, you can always come find me," Hagrid said
looking directly at Rose and Albus.
Just then, Uncle Neville (no wait, Professor Longbottom, Rose had to get used to calling him that)
came down the big flight of stairs.
"Welcome to Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry! I am Professor Longbottom, Head of
Gryffindor House! I know some of you and I can't wait to get to know the rest of you in due time. In
just a moment, you will enter the Great Hall and we will begin the Sorting ceremony. You will be
placed into one of the four houses: Gryffindor, Hufflepuff, Ravenclaw, and Slytherin. As I was told

My Pre Conference With Mrs. Andruska
The purpose of my pre–conference with Mrs. Andruska was to establish a rapport with her, to learn
about her teaching style, procedures, and upcoming lesson, and to collaboratively set a goal for the
lesson I would be observing.
When asking my first questions to Mrs. Andruska in our pre–conference, it became clear that she
prides herself on providing highly effective instruction for all of her students. I asked her about the
areas of her instruction that she takes pride in, and where she believes her biggest strengths are. She
explained that she prides herself on incorporating a variety of music education methodologies into
her teaching. These methodologies include Orff, Kodaly, and Dalcroz, all of which Mrs. Andruska
has studied and obtained certifications in. Her attention to detail in her lesson design, preparation,
and organization was evident when discussing the lesson I would be observing.
I asked Mrs. Andruska the following questions in an attempt to learn more about any instructional
challenges she is facing in her classroom:
How have things been going in your classroom?
Can you tell me about some areas that you are finding success?
My goal is to offer you guidance that will help your teaching to improve. Are there any areas you
feel we should focus on?
4. How will you know if all students are understanding the lesson?
When listening to Mrs. Andruska explain to me which areas she finds herself to be successful, it
became clear that her teaching style is

No Cure for Bronchiectasis
Unfortunately bronchiectasis is not a disease that can be cured. Treatments are primarily intended to
help control a patient's secretions and preventing possible infections. Sometimes, when the disease
is limited to one part of the lung, surgery might be a possibility in order to remove the disease
affected area. Basic lung hygiene is imperative for everyone diagnosed with bronchiectasis.
Immunizations need to be kept up to date to help prevent infections. Patients need to remain
properly hydrated to ensure mucous secretions stay less sticky. Maintaining adequate nutrition is
also highly important. For some patients with bronchiectasis, breathing requires more effort and
therefore requires increased fuel for the Krebs–Cycle. One of the most important treatments for
bronchiectasis is assistance with the mobilizing of secretions. This can be accomplished by the use
of chest physical therapy, CPT. With bronchiectasis the smooth muscles surrounding the bronchial
tubes are damaged, by clearing secretions, air flow can be increased which decreases the risk of
infection. Chest physical therapy is accomplished by use of percussion and clapping on the patient's
back to assist with loosening secretions. Next, changing positions of the patient's body will allow
gravity to help the secretions to be expectorated. Chest clapping is performed by a physical
therapist; however, family members can also be taught to routinely perform this at home. Devices
such as chest clappers or

Made To Stick By Chip Heath Book Report
Made to stick is a book written by Chip Heath and Dan Heath about why some ideas survive and
others die. The book identifies six main elements that every great idea contains. Those six key traits
are put into a small acronym "SUCCES". Its letters represent the key elements of simple,
unexpected, concrete, credible, emotion, and story. Those key elements can make an idea last the
test of time. This sounds simple enough to attain a stick idea status, however our prior knowledge
can hinder how well we use these tools. The authors state that you can't un–know knowledge. One
of the experiments the book presented was having people pair up and one person was given a list of
common songs that everyone knows, like Happy Birthday and the Star – Spangled Banner. The
person with the song could only clap the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Some example of concreteness are illustrated by the longevity of proverbs. Some proverbs have
been around for over 2,500 years. They are told and re–told generation after generation in every
language. Why do they stick around? They are simple, compact, vivid and memorable. The concrete
element is something that touches the senses like taste, touch, hearing, sight and smell. This help
people to use preexisting knowledge to scaffold new information. The next step in the SUCCES
plan is credible. Credibility means that the audience believes what you are telling them. This
credibility can be gained by using anti–authority expertise, concrete details, statistics, the Sinatra
Test, of testable credentials to get the idea across. One example of this is using smokers who are
suffering from diseases caused by smoking, to warn others of the dangers of smoking. This is an
example of anti–authority delivery. It is believable because a person can see how that person is
suffering from smoking. The audience gets a vivid visual aspect of the issue even if they didn't listen

The Rodeo Show Of The Western Culture
My reflection on the show was that the dominant group was definitely were white male, and few
white females in the second competition section. In the second competition section, male's
performance was better than female because there had no female catch the calf. But few male was
catch the calf. The same competition of first and third section were all white male which I believed
that the section was too dangerous for female to competed. Since cowboys who dropped off from
the horseback seemed painful and hurtful which was not good to women's body. In the realistic
world, people tend to believe that men are stronger than women in gender role, so that women
maybe too weak to handle that dangerous activity.
Since I have not attended rodeo before, therefore I know nothing about the rules of the rodeo. I tried
to understand the rodeo show based on my observation. So I am going to use gender role to analyze
the rodeo show of the Western culture. First, it was obvious that white male dominant group were
leading the activity. The first entry the ground was a heavy middle age cowboy, and two young
beautiful cowgirls followed after him. Then the judge place had few white males were standing
there. In the second section there had twice cowboys than cowgirls in the competition. Only the
entertainment rodeo preferment were cowgirls. Therefore, from my perspective, this rodeo culture is
leading by white males, who have power to manage. In the very old century, men were the one to go

Music: Song Analysis
This song was started by having all the instruments introduced. Once the performers were
introducing the instruments I was able to picture that this song would be very unique and something
I had not heard before. Once the list of instruments was finished the song started with the tin cans.
The tin cans were laid out in sets with three people playing them. The song starts with the same
rhythm and tempo which is moderato. Then it changes to andante. Then one person would stop and
the three players would alternate between plays. One performer covers his tin cans with a black
cloth and the sound changes. The dynamics are piano and the tempo is adagio. While this is going
on there are random beats of the bass drum. Once again there is a major change ... Show more

I was not expecting the beginning of a piece to start out of nowhere. The piece starts with the tempo
being allegro. Both performers stayed with the constant rhythm and beat. The dynamics of the song
were forte. The clapping of the hands created a very loud surrounding. Then the tempo changed and
the two performers began to clap faster and it became vivace. This continued for a while but it
seemed as if one performer were on a different beat or rhythm a little delayed. The sounds of the
clapping hands seemed to overlap and it made it feel as if the sound were not coming from the
hands. The sounds seem to play some sort of trick when the sound hits. The clapping continues and
there are parts where the performer's tempo seems to be allegro clapping a little faster than before.
There are some points where both performers seem to overlap their clapping of their hands and it
sounds very pleasing to listen to. The overall performance seems to stay at a constant rhythm and
beat but once in a while there is a change that can be heard. This song was very interesting to see
and hear. This is something that I had never seen before and this was a whole performance done
with two people clapping their hands. Towards the end of the song the clapping seems to speed up
and then staying at the same rhythm like before. The song ends with a few last claps then it comes to

What Role Does Music Play In The History Of Christianity
We live in a fast–growing world and music plays a big role in today's world and even in the past.
Music has become a daily routine, people listen to music immediately they wake up while cooking...
music helps a lot of people get over their problems, it's like a solution, it makes people refreshed.
Music has played a significant role in the history of Christianity, music in most churches occupy
most of the percentage of the entire service, therefore, music plays a major role in the churches
today. Everything done in churches is in a way related to music, the clapping, singing, instruments
used in churches such as drums, guitar, keyboard... these all represent music.
On the 26th of November 2017, I attended a church program at Winners Chapel, which is located in
Woburn, Ma in order to experience how music is being used in the church. On getting there, before
the service began, there were different people in different sections that were singing and clapping
their hands, and after that, they held their hands together and then prayed before the service started.

Perpetuum Jazzile: Team Analysis
(3) Written Assignment While watching the applauded Perpetuum Jazzile choir videos on YouTube,
I realized how much it inspires and illustrated how well done musical performance is achieved
through cooperation and collaboration. I could picture how well an organization would run and how
happy the workplace and customers would be if the employees work together as this famous choir

other. If I would contrast a music band with a team of employees in an organization, then I can

An Analysis Of Bangarra Dance Theatre 's 2008 Original...
In most ancient civilisations, dance was an important component in temple rites. In ancient Egypt,
priest and priestesses would perform stately movements mimicking significant events that had
occurred, such as war and famine. Bangarra Dance Theatre's 2008 original production of Mathinna
evokes the calamity, confusion and prejudice experienced by the members of the Stolen Generation.
The performance is inspired by the true story of a young Aboriginal girls' journey between the
traditional lives of her ancestors to her western colonial adoption. In response to Bangarra's
production, Dance Critic Neville Wright composed that "Mathinna is a powerful dance work that I
believe should be seen by audiences across Australia. It successfully educates and informs modern
audiences about the hardships and horror that the Aboriginal people endured during what was a very
shameful period of Australian history". The following report will investigate the validly of this
quote by evaluating three separate sections of the performance. Throughout the early 20th century,
the Australian public was led to believe that Aboriginal children were disadvantaged in their
communities, and that there was a high risk of physical and sexual abuse. Aboriginal children were
being removed in order to be exposed to 'Anglo values' and 'work habits' with a view to them being
employed by colonial settlers, and to stop their parents, families and communities from passing on
their culture, language and identity

The muscles that are considered to be the prime movers in order to do a pull up is the Latissimus

A Research Study On Autism / Spectrum Disorder
The little boy who is constantly clapping his hands, humming his favorite song, and is seemingly
enjoying the world much more than the rest of us, is one of many children in the United States with
Autism Spectrum Disorder. Autism or ASD is a spectrum disorder, meaning that it has a wide range
of ways that it affects each person. While every child diagnosed with autism encounters different
personal challenges, many share similar difficulties with social interactions, communication skills,
appropriate behavior, and empathy. The American Academy of Pediatrics estimated that in 2007
over 673,000 US children had ASD (Prevalence). As more children in the US are being diagnosed
with ASD, it is important to understand the contributing factors, learn the early signs, and recognize
how to effectively treat this disorder.
Although researchers and doctors are unable to detect a singular factor that causes ASD, they have
found that there are a variety of factors that contribute its development. However, recent studies
have shown that environmental factors are playing a huge role in the diagnosis. Not only does
having a family history of ASD increase one's risk, researchers have started to recognize specific
genes that can increase it even more. Fragile X syndrome has been linked to ASD because it is an
inherited condition that is peculiarly vulnerable to damage when paired with folic acid deficiency or
lack of vitamin B while in the womb. Individuals who suffer from Fragile X Syndrome

Music Therapy For Children With Autism Spectrum Disorder
There is an art in this world that we live in, which could possibly help a person who is autistic to
cope with everyday functions in life. This special kind of creativity can help some children on the
autism spectrum with regulating behaviors, help them cope with anxieties and frustration, and
improve focus and attention. This art may also help a child to socially interact with their peers. May
also help a non–verbal child to open up and begin to communicate, whether it would be verbally or
non verbally ("New Hope for Autism: Music Therapy for Children with Autism and Asperger 's
Syndrome"). Now imagine that you were a parent who has a child with deficits such as these and
has tried numerous treatments with no beneficial results. You would be ecstatic to hear this
information and would want to know what this art is and how to receive it. Music therapy is the art
that will be discussed in this paper and the beneficial effects it has on children on the autism

Autism spectrum disorder (ASD) or Autism is a developmental disorder that affects a person's
everyday life. Some deficits may include communication (verbal and nonverbal), social interaction,
and repetitive behavior. People with ASD may also show signs of motor coordination issues,
intellectual disability, and physical health issues. "There are 1 in 68 American children on the

these children from their symptoms.

A Brief Note On Flamenco
Flamenco is a Spanish musical genre that embodies a complex musical and cultural tradition (New
World Encyclopedia). Although considered part of the culture of Spain in general, flamenco actually
originates from Andalusia (New World Encyclopedia). However, it is thought to be influenced by
many world cultures, including Latin American, Cuban and Jewish traditions. Flamenco dance and
music became popular in the early 19th century as café entertainment (wonderopolis). Flamenco is
more popular today both in Spain and abroad due to the new generation of flamenco performers
who have broadened flamenco's appeal internationally (Spanish fiesta, 2015). Flamenco is made up
of three parts: guitar playing ("guitarra"), song ("cante") and dance ("baile") (wonderopolis)
The song (cante) is the most important element of flamenco. Originally, flamenco was comprised of
purely cante, with hand–clapping (palmas) (knuckle–rapping ... Show more content on

The flamenco guitar has plastic tappingplates (or teardrop scratch plates) known as golpeadores
which protect the face of the intrument from damage by the tapping and other percussive strokes
(such as drumming and slapping) performed with the right–hand fingernails (a specific feature of
the flamenco technique). Flamenco guitars often have push–pegs (akin to a violin) for tuning. The
flamenco guitar began as an accompaniment for cante (the song) and, in Spain, has largely remained
as such with the role of the flamenco guitarist being chiefly that of a musician who knows how to
musically support the singers and dancers."
Flamenco dance is very captivating to watch as the dancers are very expressive. There are two basic
forms, like the song they are the jondo and the chico. The jondo is a profound and serious dance
while the chico is a happy, light and often humorous

Narrative Essay On Winterville High School
In a world where failure is accepted. Not only is failure accepted, but it is also encouraged. This
story is about a young man named Lucas who is just like everyone else until this one day where him
and his closely trusted friend Aiden attempt to change everything. Lucas and Aiden are students at
Winterville High School. It all starts off on the way to school right around the beginning of their
favorite sport, which is getting pinned. "Lucas, make sure you sleep in today and fail that test in
geometry." said Lucas' mom Lori. "I don't know mom, that sounds like a lot of work." replied Lucas
in an obnoxiously irritated tone. "You'd better, or else you will be forced into one of those
prestigious colleges for troubled children." Lori argued.
"You're right, I should probably turn off my alarm."
Lucas then fell asleep for another two hours before his very energetic friend Aiden, shimmied up the
side of his best friends' house and tip toed across the roof top. ... Show more content on

"I guess I'll see you at wrestling practice then" Said Aiden.
"If I even go" replied Lucas.
Lucas then decided to go to class right after lunch. When he finally showed up, everybody was
clapping as he sluggishly walked to his locker. The only person who wasn't clapping was his best
friend Aiden who has a plan.
"Hey, maybe you should try every once in awhile" Aiden shouts. Everybody was staring at Aiden
when he said this.

African American Church Experience Paper
I am the minority of the usual church; typically I am one of four white people who attend the 8am
service. I first went with a friend's family after she had pass away. I was never nervous about going
to a predominantly African American church. Everyone welcomed me. The family I went with had
me stand up when they called for new people to the church. It then took me 30 extra minutes to get
out of the church because everyone gave me a hug. Going into part two of this project I was actually
very nervous about going to the Korean church. I think being by myself had a lot to do with it along
with not know the language. I was very nervous about not understanding anything that was going
on. Additionally I was worried they would not want me there.

Coach Chet's Effect On The Greenwave Girls
Chance at Revenge
Being in sports can be both challenging and rewarding at times. Being brutally defeated can make
you feel like you're at rock bottom, while winning a championship game can make you feel as if
you're on the top of the world. This is a story about a basketball team who finally stepped up to their
biggest rival of all, showing the other team and themselves that anything is possible.
The East Grand Forks (EGF) Greenwave Girls basketball team had been playing basketball together
since first grade, plus or minus a few players. The majority of them played for the love of the game,
no matter if they win or lose. They were no all–star team that destroyed and dominated every
opponent they took on; just an average team with wins and losses scattered around the grid. There
was one team in particular that the Greenwave girls could never compete with, and they lived in the
same city. The Sacred Heart Eagles. Beginning in first grade, this team had never struggled to beat

Their coach was Chet Carnivale. Coach Chet had been making a big impact on the Greenwave girls.
It was late January, early February; the middle of the basketball season, and their record was 22–0.
They couldn't believe they were undefeated. Taking on Sacred Heart at 4:30, the Greenwave girls
would compete to win the championship game in the Sacred Heart Tournament. Time had flown by.
The sound of basketballs bouncing and the squeaking of basketball shoes burning rubber on the
floor meant that it was almost game time. The Greenwave girls were extremely anxious. Coach Chet
had sparked a new confidence in them, and their anxiety and fear quickly turned into anger and
determination to give their long–time enemy a taste of their own medicine. Somehow, the fear of
destroying their record and losing a chance at revenge still lingered in the back of their minds. All of

The Importance Of A Classical Music Concert
An integral part of learning an instrument is watching and listening to professionals. We have the
opportunity to hear several guitar concerts each semester.
If you've never attended a classical music concert before, you might feel uncomfortable with the
idea of it. This is perfectly normal and is not specific to classical music. I'm sure you can imagine
how out of place one might feel attending a Phish concert if one wasn't accustomed to the culture
that goes along with that music. The same can be said for all genres of music.
The main thing to remember when attending these concerts is that the focus is on the sound of the
music. There are no fancy lights, dancers, or singers; all you will see is someone sitting on a chair
playing guitar. Aside from some pretty funky facial expressions, there is not a heavy visual element
to classical guitar concerts. Furthermore, the sound of the guitar is very delicate. This means that the
audience has to be even quieter than they would be at an orchestral or wind ensemble concert. You
should behave in a way that allows your complete attention to be on the performer and does not
distract your fellow audience members.
When you focus on the sound of the music, you may be surprised at what the guitar is capable of.
The following is a list of some things you can listen for.
Loudness and softness
Changes and transformations
Repeated sections of music
Different speeds
Different guitar sounds

Concert Ethnography
Concert Ethnography: Vijay Iyer Sixtet The performance by the Vijay Iyer Sextet on March 7 at
Memorial Hall reveals a deeper connection between jazz and the public's interest in evocative tones.
Vijay Iyer is a Grammy–nominated jazz composer and pianist. He is the main composer for the
sextet and is seen as the unspoken leader. His sextet is made up of five of his other closest friends,
who are all composers and musicians as well. The music this group performs is categorized as
improvisational jazz. However, the music also includes different styles of music from other genres.
By playing music that encompasses several different genres, the Vijay Iyer Sextet is able to appeal
to the demographic of people who are older and listen to the nostalgic ... Show more content on

The instrumentation of the show included a piano, bass, drums, saxophone, trumpet, fugal horn, and
soundboard. The use of popular jazz instruments further reveals the performer's intention to give the
audience a taste of the sentimental, antique tones of jazz music. As the instrumentation reveals the
genre of the music being performed, the stage for the show was set up in a way that highlighted the
artists performing solos during the improvisational pieces. For example, the use of lights played a
large role in visually isolating the soloists. The lights used during the show only illuminated the
performers that were located upstage, while there were no lights used to illuminate downstage.
Thus, as performers were not playing in the piece they would move downstage into the darkness.
This would cause the focus of the audience to shift to the other performers that were still playing.
The intentional movement of the artists downstage reveals the artist's intent to highlight each
individual instrument in the sextet and the improvisational skills of the artist playing them. Also, the
visual depiction of an artist emerging from the shadows located downstage and playing prompted
the audience to clap. The clapping was also prompted after a musician finishes the personal solo
improvisational piece within a song. The clapping from the audience when an instrument

Self Reflection
One Saturday morning, in the waning weeks of the 8th grade, I walked into a local museum with a
handful of classmates and our history teacher. In our arms, we carried large cardboard displays, and
in our minds, naive hopes alongside cynical expectations. Entering the main hall, we awkwardly
shuffled through crowds of students and rows of tables until we found our designated spots. I found
my name printed on a card and I placed my project behind it, in between two others. After ensuring
my tri–fold display wouldn't fall over, I realigned my tie, and made my way over to my peers. I
found them next to a life–size antique locomotive replica. Glancing around, I certainly felt like I
was on a train. There must have been a couple hundred people moving in all directions. After joking
around a bit to relieve some tension, we took a moment to reflect on how we got to that point. We
were taking part in that year's National History Day competition, an annual event in which students
across the country create projects based on a selected historical theme, and show them off to
advance to state and national levels. Just before the second semester ended, we were recruited by
our history teacher. That year, the theme was "Legacy and Leadership". I made my topic the Air
Force Academy. Looking back on my display, it was little more than a glorified advertisement for
the school, but I was proud of it. We all felt that way, especially considering we had to spend months

Dead Poets Society Conformity
Literary Essay – Dead Poets Society
Bill Beattie once said, "The aim of education should be to teach us how to
think rather than what to think – rather to improve our minds, so as to enable us to think for
ourselves, than to load the memory with thoughts of other men." All too often, however,
individual thoughts are crushed by the powerful weight of conformity. In the film Dead Poets
Society, conformity exercises it's influence and the results prove disastrous for some. For others, the
effect of conformity compels them towards individual strength and the discovery of one's true self.
Modern education is one of the largest "offenders" when it comes to
conformity, and that point is ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Perhaps they were clapping because everyone else was clapping, or perhaps they were just having a

All too often, the words of the textbook are considered undisputed fact. All chemistry
textbooks will list the elements with the same symbols and all Latin textbooks will list
approximately the same translations. The poetry textbook, written by a Dr. Pritchett, attempts to
lump words that are meant to touch the heart into the same factual categories of math and the
sciences. Can Dr. Pritchett's method of analyzing poetry by graphing its importance and perfection
be used to measure what one feels? More importantly, is Dr. Pritchett's method the only method that
one must use when measuring the greatness of poetry and can poetry be looked at using only the
mind and not the heart?
Mr. Keating did not feel that poetry was meant to be analyzed using measurable
techniques but rather through the feelings of one's heart. He summed up his feelings on Dr.
Pritchett's method of measuring the greatness of poetry in one word,
"Excrement."
He took his class on a journey of self–discovery, a journey where they learned that there is
not always a right answer or a wrong one. In order to find one's true self, one must learn to resist
conformity and walk one's own way, as was illustrated in the lesson out in the courtyard. He taught

What Is The Mood Of The Song Ompeh
"Ompeh" is a song from the Akan speaking peoples of Ghana. "Ompeh" was an ensemble led by
Stanley Ato Bortsie and Ato Quartey. The melody in "Ompeh" is a repeated rhythm that plays out
through the song whereas Western music is built upon a tension and release method. The rhythms of
the song are repeated throughout its entirety incorporating a drum beat, perhaps a cymbal, and
people clapping. A repeated rhythm throughout the entirety of a song is not something I hear often
in Western Music. Also, a cymbal is not a usual instrument in Western songs rather pianos and
guitars are used more often. The tempo is also steady throughout, although the claps build in
contrast to the drums that have a steady beat. The claps are a quick 1–2 beat and the

Black Diamond Band Essay
The church has been an important part of the African American community. It has been used as a
meeting during slavery and as a place to hide runaway slaves. However, the church and the
community it creates isn't always associated with a specific space. This sense of community and
praise can be created anywhere. On Saturday, April 7, 2018, I had the opportunity to see the Black
Diamond choir at the University of Louisville in Stricker Hall. The music was composed of three
components, the band, the choir and the choir director. The name of the choir director is Jason
Clayborn, who is an established songwriter and composer. He also represented a preacher on stage
throughout the program. At one point there was a guest director Dexter Walker and ... Show more

Most of the students seem to know each other outside of the music group. They enjoyed their time
on stage with each other and often had sidebar conversation while the director spoke. The choir also
seemed to support the message which the songs represented. They often closed their eyes
throughout the songs and swayed with the rhythm of the songs. They also seemed like a united front
due to their matching shirts and black skirts and pants. The band was not the focus of the concert;
they were just accompanying the choir. Moreover, the band was composed of drums, an electric
organ, an electric piano, and a bass. The band seemed to know each other and often were able to
follow the quick changes made by the choir director. Even throught the improvisation made by the
Clayborn. The concert did not begin with the choir but rather with an opening artist/ preacher who
led the audience and the band in at least three songs. The crowd seemed to know the songs but only
a couple of people were standing. He led the group through a song called "Our God is greater." At
one point through "Healing in your presence" the sound system malfunctioned and the microphones
were not working. However, this opening artist kept the concert going through the claps of the
crowd and applying his voice. He then performed "victory is mine," which opened the floor for the

"Influence of Gospel Music on its listeners"
The following ethnography will examine how gospel music is expressed and influences the listeners

gospel music on the people of the church and general audience. Emphasis will be placed on how the
music seems to affect the audience during the concert and how the audience reacted to the songs

This entrance caused the audience to jump and shout amidst clapping of hands. They joined into the
performance with choruses of "Amen!" and "Yes, Lord!" as the band continued with their song.
After a few moments as the artist came to the front of the stage, some people rose to their feet and
began raising their hands high into the air. People seemed overcome with emotion. There were
several songs sung during the concert and each song had the audience just as vocal and physical as
the one before it. People would shout and raise their hands in the air, shaking them or waving them
around. In a way, it reminded me of the Tarab music of the Middle East that seem to feel its
audience with ecstasy and enchant them. The gospel music evoked strong emotions in the audience
and people sang along with the artist as they clapped their hands in time with each other. Not only
was the background vocals and the musicians in tune with one another. Everyone singing and
clapping in the audience was in tune as well. I found myself clapping my hands along with them and
trying to remember the words to songs I'd long forgotten. It was around these times that the

Slippery Ice Short Story

Burn The Floor
Introduction:
The section 'Burn the floor' showing the Jive scene can be easily identified as a social dance. The
characteristics of Participation, Identification and Recreation can be clearly seen in the movements
and the non–movement elements of the scene.
Body paragraph 1 – Participation
The characteristic of participation of the Jive scene within 'Burn the Floor' is clearly seen. The social
dance features 12 male and female partners. They are holding hands, smiling and looking at each
other in the eyes. The dancers slid away from each other, making a path for the lead dancers. The
lead dancers then travelled down the centre of the stage and then performed a duo at the front of the
stage. This successfully shows the interaction between the partners. As a result the Jive scene can
easily be identified as a social dance. Not only is participation easy to be identified, but the
characteristic identification is ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The dancers show non – locomotor actions such as, the fast work on the spot and the clapping on the

perform a double hop with their arms at a 95 degree angle brushing the air. Later on the partners
hold hands and the ladies roll into the men's arms while maintaining eye contact. The partners then
divide into two separate groups on either side of the stage, while a couple comes in–between the two
groups. The couple then performs a duo while the two groups are bending down to a low level then
recovering to a mid–level performing a sustaining movement. This effectively shows the
characteristics because they are clapping, smiling, celebrating and having fun throughout the entire
dance. Finally, the Jive scene within 'Burn the Floor' strongly achieves the social dance function. It
accomplishes this through the direct representation of; participation, identification and

Emma Perkins Creative Writing

  • 1. Emma Perkins Creative Writing Weird. Amusing. Odd. These words would describe my best friend. Emma Perkins is one of my best friends. She seems to be always there when I do something stupid or dangerous. She could as well be the cause. One night, an idea had struck me. This would not end well for me or for those who I would choose to involve. First, a plan had fully formed the night before I was to execute it. The plan involved a ton of different memes and paper. The memes ranged from ancient to dead to recent. For half an hour, I was cutting out memes and coloring them. In between the meme cutting, I was attempting to fold a paper box to fit the memes inside. The memes were barely enough to fulfill the empty space in the box. I added more memes like doge. I finally was finished with a final product. The final product would serve as an engagement ring and box. I was going to propose to Emma Perkins. The next day, I ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... It started when a few acquaintances and friends started clapping and cheering. Suddenly, the entire lunchroom erupted with clapping. I was laughing and dying on the ground, well not literally. I was highly embarrassed as I was expecting it to just between Emma and I. One question rose to my mind. Why were people clapping? Emma and I both looked at each other with a questionable look. It wouldn't be long before people started swarming closer. The lunch lady questioned us about what had occurred. My friend answered. More questions were asked. A majority of them was about what exactly happened and if we were dating. Throughout the day, we were referred to as the lesbian couple and many curious on what our relationship was. That was a very amusing day. Why did I think that was a good idea? Ever since that day, people still think that we are dating. I learned that all my ideas are not good ideas. Some are worse than others. Now, Emma and I have an interesting memory added to the memories of stupid things that we did ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 2. Personal Narrative: The Day I Scored Taylor Overstreet September 26, 2014 The day I scored People cheering! Stomping on the bleachers as hard as they could. Filling the air with noise. Everyone was standing p clapping and yelling. The other team disappointed as they saw the ball go into the goal. Their goalie tried to stop it but couldn't get to it in time. Earlier that day I was at home getting ready for my soccer game. My mom was helping me put my hair up in a ponytail. She also had to get the clothes I had to wear for the game. After I got ready we headed to the game. We always had to be there earlier than the game started, so we had time to warm up, but after we warmed up we had to sit on the bench until the game started. It was so hot you could feel the summer sun beaming ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 3. Analysis (Start with hand clapping rhythm and tap the bass rhythm with foot from Unsquare Dance) Good afternoon everyone. I am Tom and today we will be looking at how great composers use fascinating rhythm. Let's take a look at two fantastic songs, The Beatles, Strawberry Fields Forever, and the other by Dave Brubeck, Unsquare Dance. In 1961 American Composer Dave Brubeck wrote a piece called Unsquare Dance. Unsquare Dance is a jazz piece in 7/4. The fact that it is in 7/4 is very strange, as this is an uncommon time signature. This piece falls under the genre of free jazz, allowing the soloist to play whatever they want. Free jazz has no set structure to it, although Unsquare Dance does have a blues structure, this can be found in the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The hand clapping is always on the off beat, yet still accented, and the bass line is constantly on the beat. These layers of rhythm being played simultaneously create juxtaposition. This gives the atmosphere of energy in the piece. Now, moving on to Strawberry Fields Forever first performed by The Beatles in 1967. The composition is credited to both John Lennon and Paul McCartney. There are arguments to support that Lennon is the soul composer, but this unconfirmed. This piece is classified as a psychedelic pop song. Songs of this genre used strange recording techniques such as playing the tape backwards, and using unusual instruments. Strawberry Fields Forever made use of these techniques, the end of the song is played in reverse and a sitar is used. This is a very typical song of that era and culture. Upon hearing the opening of Strawberry Fields Forever you will notice that it sounds very lethargic. There are many reasons for this. At the end of most phrases there are tied notes across the bar; therefore the listener is not hearing the first beat of that bar, which is the strongest beat in a bar, an example of this is bar 5. It is interesting to note that some in phrases, the melody line drops in pitch on the last note, almost like a sigh. Long droning notes in the background add to the lazy feel. Finally, there are sections where a solo instrument is playing. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 4. Outcome And SMART Goals: Case Study Outcomes & SMART Goals The music department at Clayton Ridge consists of two staff members. One instructor's responsibilities include K–1 general music, and 4–12 instrumental music. The other instructor (myself) is responsible for 2–5 general music, and 6–12 choir. Because both the instrumental teacher and myself educate fourth graders, that is a valuable circumstance in which we can collaborate assessing students within the National Music Standards (2014). We have met throughout previous PLCs to determine our preferred standards, which will qualify as our district music essential skills for fourth graders. • 5. Howard Gardner's Theory Of Multiple Intelligence Essay HOWARD GARDNER'S THEORY OF MULTIPLE INTELLIGENCES A professor of education at Harvard University, Dr. Howard Gardner, developed the theory of multiple intelligences in 1983 (American Institute for Learning and Human Development, n.d.). Gardner's theory suggests that traditional intelligence tests such as IQ tests, only meausures a limited aspect of human intelligence. Instead, this theory suggests that people have potential in eight areas of intelligence which are; linguistic, logical–mathematic, spatial, bodily–kinesthetic, musical, interpersonal, intrapesonal, and naturalist. People who have linguistic intelligence are good with words, they are able to use written and spoken words to effectively express themselves. Individuals who are logical–mathematic intelligent are able to anaylze problems logically, and use mathematical operations and the scientific method to solve problems. If a person's strength is in musical intelligence, they have the ability to perform, compose and recognize musical patterns. Boldily–kinesthetic intelligence means an individual uses their physical abilities to solve problems. Spatial intelligence is the ability to recognize and use and interpret pictures. Interpersonal and intrapersonal intelligences deal with understanding other people's (intrapersonal) and your own (interpersonal) feelings and motivations. Lastly, naturalist intellgience is the ability to recognize and appreciate the relationship between humans and nature ("Gardner ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 6. The Night Of The Lake The ride across the lake was everything Rose had imagined and more. She even thought she might have seen the giant squid poke up out of the water. She tried to point it out to Albus, but it had disappeared when he looked over. They finally pulled up to the shore and began following Hagrid up the grounds to the castle. It was so much bigger than she had imagined. "It's so big," Albus said in awe. "I was just thinking the same thing," Rose replied. The students sidled up to the entrance. The doors opened and Hagrid shepherded the student into the Hall. "Professor Longbottom will be with you in a moment to explain what will happen next. If any of you ever need someone to talk to or a cup o' tea, you can always come find me," Hagrid said looking directly at Rose and Albus. Just then, Uncle Neville (no wait, Professor Longbottom, Rose had to get used to calling him that) came down the big flight of stairs. "Welcome to Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry! I am Professor Longbottom, Head of Gryffindor House! I know some of you and I can't wait to get to know the rest of you in due time. In just a moment, you will enter the Great Hall and we will begin the Sorting ceremony. You will be placed into one of the four houses: Gryffindor, Hufflepuff, Ravenclaw, and Slytherin. • 7. My Pre Conference With Mrs. Andruska The purpose of my pre–conference with Mrs. Andruska was to establish a rapport with her, to learn about her teaching style, procedures, and upcoming lesson, and to collaboratively set a goal for the lesson I would be observing. When asking my first questions to Mrs. Andruska in our pre–conference, it became clear that she prides herself on providing highly effective instruction for all of her students. I asked her about the areas of her instruction that she takes pride in, and where she believes her biggest strengths are. She explained that she prides herself on incorporating a variety of music education methodologies into her teaching. These methodologies include Orff, Kodaly, and Dalcroz, all of which Mrs. Andruska has studied and obtained certifications in. Her attention to detail in her lesson design, preparation, and organization was evident when discussing the lesson I would be observing. I asked Mrs. Andruska the following questions in an attempt to learn more about any instructional challenges she is facing in her classroom: How have things been going in your classroom? Can you tell me about some areas that you are finding success? My goal is to offer you guidance that will help your teaching to improve. Are there any areas you feel we should focus on? 4. How will you know if all students are understanding the lesson? • 10. No Cure for Bronchiectasis Unfortunately bronchiectasis is not a disease that can be cured. Treatments are primarily intended to help control a patient's secretions and preventing possible infections. Sometimes, when the disease is limited to one part of the lung, surgery might be a possibility in order to remove the disease affected area. Basic lung hygiene is imperative for everyone diagnosed with bronchiectasis. Immunizations need to be kept up to date to help prevent infections. Patients need to remain properly hydrated to ensure mucous secretions stay less sticky. Maintaining adequate nutrition is also highly important. For some patients with bronchiectasis, breathing requires more effort and therefore requires increased fuel for the Krebs–Cycle. One of the most important treatments for bronchiectasis is assistance with the mobilizing of secretions. This can be accomplished by the use of chest physical therapy, CPT. With bronchiectasis the smooth muscles surrounding the bronchial tubes are damaged, by clearing secretions, air flow can be increased which decreases the risk of infection. Chest physical therapy is accomplished by use of percussion and clapping on the patient's back to assist with loosening secretions. Next, changing positions of the patient's body will allow gravity to help the secretions to be expectorated. Chest clapping is performed by a physical therapist; however, family members can also be taught to routinely perform this at home. Devices such as chest clappers or ... • 11. Made To Stick By Chip Heath Book Report Made to stick is a book written by Chip Heath and Dan Heath about why some ideas survive and others die. The book identifies six main elements that every great idea contains. Those six key traits are put into a small acronym "SUCCES". Its letters represent the key elements of simple, unexpected, concrete, credible, emotion, and story. Those key elements can make an idea last the test of time. This sounds simple enough to attain a stick idea status, however our prior knowledge can hinder how well we use these tools. The authors state that you can't un–know knowledge. One of the experiments the book presented was having people pair up and one person was given a list of common songs that everyone knows, like Happy Birthday and the Star – Spangled Banner. The person with the song could only clap the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Some example of concreteness are illustrated by the longevity of proverbs. Some proverbs have been around for over 2,500 years. They are told and re–told generation after generation in every language. Why do they stick around? They are simple, compact, vivid and memorable. The concrete element is something that touches the senses like taste, touch, hearing, sight and smell. This help people to use preexisting knowledge to scaffold new information. The next step in the SUCCES plan is credible. Credibility means that the audience believes what you are telling them. This credibility can be gained by using anti–authority expertise, concrete details, statistics, the Sinatra Test, of testable credentials to get the idea across. One example of this is using smokers who are suffering from diseases caused by smoking, to warn others of the dangers of smoking. This is an example of anti–authority delivery. It is believable because a person can see how that person is suffering from smoking. The audience gets a vivid visual aspect of the issue even if they didn't listen a word the speaker ... • 13. The Rodeo Show Of The Western Culture My reflection on the show was that the dominant group was definitely were white male, and few white females in the second competition section. In the second competition section, male's performance was better than female because there had no female catch the calf. But few male was catch the calf. The same competition of first and third section were all white male which I believed that the section was too dangerous for female to competed. Since cowboys who dropped off from the horseback seemed painful and hurtful which was not good to women's body. In the realistic world, people tend to believe that men are stronger than women in gender role, so that women maybe too weak to handle that dangerous activity. Since I have not attended rodeo before, therefore I know nothing about the rules of the rodeo. I tried to understand the rodeo show based on my observation. So I am going to use gender role to analyze the rodeo show of the Western culture. First, it was obvious that white male dominant group were leading the activity. The first entry the ground was a heavy middle age cowboy, and two young beautiful cowgirls followed after him. Then the judge place had few white males were standing there. In the second section there had twice cowboys than cowgirls in the competition. Only the entertainment rodeo preferment were cowgirls. Once the performers were introducing the instruments I was able to picture that this song would be very unique and something I had not heard before. Once the list of instruments was finished the song started with the tin cans. The tin cans were laid out in sets with three people playing them. The song starts with the same rhythm and tempo which is moderato. Then it changes to andante. Then one person would stop and the three players would alternate between plays. One performer covers his tin cans with a black cloth and the sound changes. The dynamics are piano and the tempo is adagio. While this is going on there are random beats of the bass drum. The clapping continues and there are parts where the performer's tempo seems to be allegro clapping a little faster than before. There are some points where both performers seem to overlap their clapping of their hands and it sounds very pleasing to listen to. • 19. An Analysis Of Bangarra Dance Theatre 's 2008 Original... In most ancient civilisations, dance was an important component in temple rites. In ancient Egypt, priest and priestesses would perform stately movements mimicking significant events that had occurred, such as war and famine. Bangarra Dance Theatre's 2008 original production of Mathinna evokes the calamity, confusion and prejudice experienced by the members of the Stolen Generation. The performance is inspired by the true story of a young Aboriginal girls' journey between the traditional lives of her ancestors to her western colonial adoption. In response to Bangarra's production, Dance Critic Neville Wright composed that "Mathinna is a powerful dance work that I believe should be seen by audiences across Australia. It successfully educates and informs modern audiences about the hardships and horror that the Aboriginal people endured during what was a very shameful period of Australian history". The following report will investigate the validly of this quote by evaluating three separate sections of the performance. Throughout the early 20th century, the Australian public was led to believe that Aboriginal children were disadvantaged in their communities, and that there was a high risk of physical and sexual abuse. Autism or ASD is a spectrum disorder, meaning that it has a wide range of ways that it affects each person. While every child diagnosed with autism encounters different personal challenges, many share similar difficulties with social interactions, communication skills, appropriate behavior, and empathy. The American Academy of Pediatrics estimated that in 2007 over 673,000 US children had ASD (Prevalence). As more children in the US are being diagnosed with ASD, it is important to understand the contributing factors, learn the early signs, and recognize how to effectively treat this disorder. Although researchers and doctors are unable to detect a singular factor that causes ASD, they have found that there are a variety of factors that contribute its development. However, recent studies have shown that environmental factors are playing a huge role in the diagnosis. Not only does having a family history of ASD increase one's risk, researchers have started to recognize specific genes that can increase it even more. We have the opportunity to hear several guitar concerts each semester. If you've never attended a classical music concert before, you might feel uncomfortable with the idea of it. This is perfectly normal and is not specific to classical music. I'm sure you can imagine how out of place one might feel attending a Phish concert if one wasn't accustomed to the culture that goes along with that music. The same can be said for all genres of music. The main thing to remember when attending these concerts is that the focus is on the sound of the music. There are no fancy lights, dancers, or singers; all you will see is someone sitting on a chair playing guitar. Aside from some pretty funky facial expressions, there is not a heavy visual element to classical guitar concerts. Furthermore, the sound of the guitar is very delicate. This means that the audience has to be even quieter than they would be at an orchestral or wind ensemble concert. You should behave in a way that allows your complete attention to be on the performer and does not distract your fellow audience members. As the instrumentation reveals the genre of the music being performed, the stage for the show was set up in a way that highlighted the artists performing solos during the improvisational pieces. For example, the use of lights played a large role in visually isolating the soloists. The lights used during the show only illuminated the performers that were located upstage, while there were no lights used to illuminate downstage. Thus, as performers were not playing in the piece they would move downstage into the darkness. This would cause the focus of the audience to shift to the other performers that were still playing. • 38. Slippery Ice Short Story "Ok, Dhvani slowly step on the ice, and make sure to hold the railing for a little support, but do not depend on it." Mentally, I was beaming with excitement but physically my body would not budge off the carpet onto the shiny slippery ice. I wasn't nervous in my mind, although I think that my body was. So I took a deep breath and with my trembling leg I stepped on the ice. Instantly, my skates were on the ice, and I was standing there holding the railing, not daring to even move a muscle. Although now all the excitement in me had died out and faded away. All I was feeling was nervousness. The nervousness that I would slip any second and break a bone or two. I was about to come back on the carpet when I heard my instructor say... "Come on what are you thinking, you can do this it's just like walking, but you ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... So my instructor put out some pylons for me, he first showed me what to do and I followed. After 20 minutes I was able to turn in circles and make an infinity sign on the ice. I was having a blast and could not wait for what we would do next. Although sadly the instructor said that that's all we were going to do today and next class we would learn something new. I wasn't able to do any of the fancy moves yet, but I did have fun and couldn't wait for my next ice skating class. By now everyone in my ice skating class had left, and I and some of my other friends were just goofing around and playing on the ice waiting for our parents to come pick us up. That's when I felt someone's shoulder bump into mine, which sent me twirling on the spot. When I finally stopped my instructor caught me before I could fall onto the ice. When I was up and balanced on the ice again everyone started clapping. I was really confused at that moment; I didn't know how to react or what to say so all I did was ask. "What happened, why are you all ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 39. Burn The Floor Introduction: The section 'Burn the floor' showing the Jive scene can be easily identified as a social dance. The characteristics of Participation, Identification and Recreation can be clearly seen in the movements and the non–movement elements of the scene. Body paragraph 1 – Participation The characteristic of participation of the Jive scene within 'Burn the Floor' is clearly seen. The social dance features 12 male and female partners. They are holding hands, smiling and looking at each other in the eyes. The dancers slid away from each other, making a path for the lead dancers. The lead dancers then travelled down the centre of the stage and then performed a duo at the front of the stage. This successfully shows the interaction between the partners. Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The dancers show non – locomotor actions such as, the fast work on the spot and the clapping on the spot. They also show many locomotor actions such as, when they slide and run. The dancers perform a double hop with their arms at a 95 degree angle brushing the air. Later on the partners hold hands and the ladies roll into the men's arms while maintaining eye contact. The partners then divide into two separate groups on either side of the stage, while a couple comes in–between the two groups. The couple then performs a duo while the two groups are bending down to a low level then recovering to a mid–level performing a sustaining movement. This effectively shows the characteristics because they are clapping, smiling, celebrating and having fun throughout the entire dance. • 40. Most Significant Event Report The significant event that occurred to me was my ninth birthday. The event was very special to me because I am Muslim; and when a Muslim girl turns nine she wears the hijab. My mother threw a big party for me; she made the party at the Mosque. My mother took me to the hairstylist before going to my party. I was so happy getting my hair done because all my Muslim friends were going to be at the party; and see how nice I look. Also, my mother dressed me up like a princess; and in that time, I felt like a princess. When I was in the mosque all the attention was on me. I was sitting in the front where all the people in the mosque can see me. I was so shy because I was not use to all of the attention. A lady came standing beside and was talking ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... When I started to wear the hijab, I was very excited and nerves about the hijab. The reason why I was very excited to wear the hijab was because most of my Muslim friends were wearing the hijab; and my mother always talks about the hijab. Also, I was very nerves to wear the hijab because my school did not have many Muslim girls that wear the hijab. I told my dad to talk to my teachers about my hijab; and I told my dad to tell the teacher to tell the students to not pick on me, or bully me because of the hijab. I remember the first day I want to school with my hijab; I was very afraid and anxious to go to school. I thought that my friends were not going to be my friend because of my hijab. But, I was very shocked when I went to school because my teachers were so supportive; and that I found out that my teacher talked to the students about my hijab before I went to school. I was grateful about the kindness of the teacher. The students in my class treated me the same way they always treat me, and my friends were very supportive. Also, my dad showed up to my classroom with a cake. The classroom singed happy birthday to me, and took pictures with ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
