This document helps to outline the short film ideas that we have created.
This includes loglines, character profiles and brief narrative.
2. Short film production meeting
Central ideas
− Separation from reality so living a façade
− The protagonist is living a double life; they are portraying themselves
carefully through social media and the post statuses and pictures on
Facebook that shows them being productive.
− This film is based around the addiction of social media within young
people.
Character profile
− Name; Sophia
− 18 years old, first year at university
− Stereotypical fit and healthy girl
− Lives a perfect life on social media but in reality she’s not getting up
to what she says she is.
Together we decided to name our group “the façade”. When going into this in
more detail we created the logline of “are we really living or just surviving a
façade?”
Narrative
Beginning
− Opening is a text to mum reassuring her that she is okay.
− Film is centred on Sophia and her life at university. The film will be
split screened to show the façade that she is selling through social
media compared to how she is actually living.
Middle
− This is developing the story line of her getting ready with friends, and
she is also getting ready to take drugs before she goes out, as this is
commonly what happens.
− Throughout the film in the centre of the split screen text messages
will appear some being from her mum where she is lying and telling
her that she is all fine and other being her friends influencing her to
get on drugs that night.
Climax
− Sophia goes into room to take drugs, this is when door closes as
developing a drug scene is a sensitive topic so we would rather
develop the idea behind closed doors.
3. − After a while you can hear a girl screaming for help behind the closed
doors instructing someone to call 999. This helps to symbolise that
Sophia has overdosed on drugs and needs immediate attention.
Ending
− A graphic overlay of the 999 call (frequency wave), which is
presented on the screen, this soon fades out.
− The last shot is of a black screen saying our logline.
