1. Ellie Goulding
Ellie Goulding was born on 30th December 1986 in
Herefordshire, England. She began her career by
signing to Polydor Records in 2009. Shortly after signing
her record deal, she released her debut extended play
‘An Introduction to Ellie Goulding’.
Goulding briefly studied at the University of Kent where
she studied drama, politics and english - it is said that
here is where she discovered electronic music. During
her time at university she entered a talent contest in
which lead to her being discovered by Jamie Lillywhite, who later told her to leave
university, and set up in London. Lillywhite became her manager, and introduced her to
the producer of Lights.
Her success started when she became the second artist to top the BBC’s ‘Sound of…’,
and also won the Critics Choice Award at the Brit Awards in same year.
Her debut studio album ‘Lights’ was released in 2010, and she recorded a cover of
Elton John’s song ‘Your Song’ in December 2010 which reached number 2 in the
singles chart. Her talent is so widely recognised, she has done performances at the
Buckingham Palace for Prince William and Kate Middleton. Her album was released in
the US in March 2011, and reached number 2 in the Billboard top 100 charts, proving
her success is worldwide.
Ellie Goulding has gone on to release another album called ‘Halcyon Days’, and is
awaiting the release of her third album ‘Delirium’. Her success has gained her many
fans, and supporters through social media such as Instagram and Twitter, and has
millions of followers.
