Review of First Year
1. Results Day
• Finding out that I had
passed my A-Levels
and was going to be
attending UoB was
one of the most
relieving days ever. I
was so happy I
passed and excited
for what September
was going to bring
for me.
2. Moving in day
This was one of the most
exciting/nerve wrecking
days of my life. Moving
away from home to
somewhere completely
new, it’s safe to say I was
nervous. However, it was
a great experience and I
am so thankful for the
opportunity.
3. Fresher’s Fortnight
• I went on my first
night out and the
theme was ‘chavs’
which is probably
the worst theme
ever but it was such
a hilarious night
and I’ll remember it
as being one of my
first memories of
being a fresher!
4. First assignment
• Here’s a picture I
took of me writing
my first
assignment. It
definitely was one
of the first
glimpses of how
much harder
university was
going to be
compared to
school!
5. Washing, Ironing, Cleaning..What?
• I had helped about the house as most
teenagers are told to do however, I hadn’t
quite got the knack of washing as I managed
to shrink about five items of my clothing after
my first attempt at washing. Having to learn to
clean, iron and do my own washing was a big
independent step for me as it probably is for
most students and it taught me just how much
my parents actually did for me at home.
6. Settled in
• After settling in my life consisted of the odd
assignment, lots of student nights out,
cooking and other chores, going to lectures,
seminars and PAL sessions. Just general day-
to-day life.
7. Christmas
• I went home for month at
Christmas time. I spent so
much time with my
family and soon realised
that I wanted to move
home for my second year
and as you all know that
is still the plan. I enjoyed
Christmas and was
excited to go back to uni
and have a better
experience in my new flat
as I didn’t get to see
them for long before we
all went back home.
8. 2014
• New Year came around so
quickly and I went back to uni
and began my final
assignments for the year. We
were beginning to get exam
details and the realisation of
how fast first year had gone
dawned on me.
• I also settled into my new flat
so well and met a wicked
bunch of friends from doing
so.. Lot’s of nights spent
playing ring of fire around our
kitchen table were to come!
9. Easter and Exams
• My Easter holidays soon came
around and that meant so did
my exams! My three weeks
back home were spent revising
and well...revising! But it was
all worth it in the end as I
passed the year and am
obviously carrying on through
to the second year of my
degree yay!
10. Summer 2014
• Summer is still in progress but unfortunately
this is where my blogging ends for first year. I
am hoping I will be able to carry it on into my
second year so keep an eye out for that!
• Good luck to everyone taking their exams and
I hope my blogging throughout the year
entertained you!
11. • That’s it my year of being a fresher is over!
Two years to go until I complete my degree,
it’s gone so fast and I’m loving every minute
of being at the University of Bedfordshire. I
am so glad I made the choice to study here.
• Bring on 2014/2015!
