Separation of Lanthanides/ Lanthanides and Actinides
Sholto cr1 representation
1. How does my product represent social groups?
In comedy heist films it is conventional to have some rather useless and less than bright male
criminal characters. I have reinforced this stereotype in my film.
Males are often the perpetrators of crime and my characters are no different. They are are teenage
males and that challenges the conventional type of characters you get in these films.
One has been constructed as the ‘Brains’ the other as the ‘Brawn’ but they are both rather
useless but likeable. In films like TOWER HEIST and MASTERMINDS you get similar kinds of
characters.
The fact that they are using fake guns and there is only a small degree of violence should make
the audience like these people.
2. Teenagers are often represented as stroppy or nasty
but my characters are neither they are ambitious criminals who want to make a lot of money. They
have found their goal in life
and enjoy what they do. This challenges the representation of teenagers.
So I have constructed a stereotypical representation of the types of characters you get in comedy
heist films but at the same time challenged the convention by having them as teenagers. In terms
of the representation of teenage males I have challenged the stereotypes of teen males and I feel
created a more positive representation despite the fact hey are engaged in criminal activity.
