This document provides information to determine the nodal displacement and maximum stress in a stepped bar made of steel and aluminum subjected to a point load and thermal load. The bar has different sections of steel and aluminum with specified material properties, dimensions, and temperatures. The results of an FEA analysis using ANSYS are compared to theoretical calculations for deformation and stress.

1. Determine the Nodal displacement and Maximum stress in a 1D
stepped bar made of steel and aluminum subjected to point load and
thermal load with the boundary conditions as shown.
To = 200C and Tf = 800C,
Esteel = 2e5 N/mm2
EAl = 0.7e5 N/mm2
Area of steel, Asteel = 1000mm2
