1. Summer Term week 5 18th
- 22nd May.
Dear Parents,
Activities we will be doing in pre-school:
Listening to, and joining in with stories which have repeated phrases e.g
the Gingerbread Man (“run run as fast as you can.”)
Encouraging the children’s interest in mark making and drawing for a
purpose. We shall be looking at shapes and trying to draw some
ourselves.
Singing our rhyme of the week which is ‘Tommy Thumb’. This is a good
rhyme to help strengthen the children’s fingers in preparation for
developing their pencil control.
Activities to do at home with your child:
Read books with your child and encourage them to join in with the
repeated and familiar words. Traditional tales are particularly good
for this.
Give your child lots of opportunities to mark make/draw/write using a
variety of different tools e.g chalk, paintbrushes and water outside.
Not all children like to sit down and draw on paper but chalking on the
path is just as beneficial to develop their pencil control.
Notices:
Active Kids vouchers have now finished so please check your handbags
for any last stragglers. Thanks for those you have collected so far.
Preschool finishes on Friday 22nd
and closes for one week. We re-open
on Monday 1st
June.
