The preschoolers will be having activities focused on French culture this week, including setting up a pretend French café, learning basic French words, and celebrating Mardi Gras by parading in masks. Parents are encouraged to play ball with their children at home and find words beginning with certain letters to bring to school. The preschool will also be celebrating Mardi Gras and Sports Relief day on March 18th by dressing in French colors and doing races and exercises while collecting money for charity.

Activities we will be doing in Preschool
 This week in our role-play area we will be having a French Café. There will be
lots of opportunities for children to develop their mark making skills and letter
recognition skills as they look at menus, take orders and serve the food.
 We have a weekly French time when Christine Dubuis teaches the children
simple French words. She has taught them to say hello, goodbye and the
names of various colours and food items.
 Next week we will be celebrating the French festival of the Mardi Gras. The
children will have the opportunity to dress up in their own clothes and parade
round to French music wearing a mask they will have made.
Activities to do at home
 This half term we are doing lots of ball activities so enhance this at home by
playing ball with your child. You can extend their basic skills by changing the
size of ball used or by having a variety of containers to throw the ball into.
 Look round your house for words that begin with ‘s’, ‘a’, ‘t’ and ‘I’. Write them
down and bring them into show us.
Notices
 On Friday the 18 March we will be celebrating the Mardi Gras and Sport’s relief
day. We ask that you dress your children in anything red white or blue (colours
of the French flag) to enhance the fun of the day. We will also be collecting
money for Sport relief and taking part in some fun races and exercises.
 Please bring any Active Kids vouchers that you receive while shopping at
Sainsburys – they help us get extra resources.
