EXT. STREET CORNER - EARLY MORNING
We see two young boys in school uniform talking,
twiddling their thumbs and looking tired. They seem bored
and as if they are waiting for something.
BOY 1
…Yeah man she left mine at like 7.
BOY 2
I can’t believe you didn’t-
BOY 1
(interrupting)
I just don’t wanna rush anything,
man she’s alright.
BOY 2
Ok, mate but just know if you
don’t pull the trigger now-
BOY 1
It’ll be fine man just leave it…
Anyways did you hear about that
kid down the road at St. Peters
BOY 2
Nah what happened?

problems.

wouldn’t stop and I told her to
stop and she wouldn’t and what was
I supposed to do.

THERAPIST
It wasn’t your fault we all know
that. Everybody say it with me
“It’s not your fault”
ALL (NOT INCLUDING JON)
“It’s not your fault”
Everybody joins into the chant, but Jonathan, our main
character, can’t bring himself to say something he
doesn’t believe. He shakes his head, sighs and buries his
chin into is chest.
PTSD MAN
I heard the smash. I wasn’t at
home anymore. Home was miles away,
and I was here. Fighting. Not for
any side, any country or anyone.
Fighting for my life.
We zoom slowly on the man talking, and suddenly footage
of people fighting a war in the background starts while
the begin notes of Gimme Shelter by the Rolling Stones
starts to play.
PTSD MAN
I tried I really did.
The man raises his hands to reveal bandages, the
presumption is that he punched through a glass window.
THERAPIST
Everybody…
The therapist ushers everyone to repeat the phrase said
earlier
ALL (EXCEPT JON)
It’s not your fault.
Jon continues to not join in. He looks down at his
thumbs, and seems disinterested in the rest of the group.
MAMBA ADDICT
Kicking it is damn hard. I ‘member
seein’ people wiv mamba and I
laughed at ‘em but now i’m waitin'
on them and relying on them. This
ain’t the life I wanted. Kicking
this just ain’t happenin. I wan’ed
kids, i wan’ed a life.
THERAPIST
Everybody It’s no…
4. 3.
The therapist ushers everyone to repeat the phrase said
earlier
ALL (EXCEPT JON)
It’s not your fault.
They all turn and look at Jon after a third time of not
joining in. The therapist notices now and looks up and
down at Jon. He slowly raises his head, his eyes are wide
and he looks like he has seen a ghost.
THERAPIST
Jon what about you. What’s on your
mind?
Jon looks around and doesn’t appear to have heard the
therapist’s question.
THERAPIST
Jon?
The therapist places their hand on Jon’s shoulder which
he quickly whips away.
JON
She says there’s no point.
THERAPIST
No point to what?
JON
She says you won’t listen.
THERAPIST
We will that’s what were here for.
A random girl is dancing behind him in a cute but
sinister manner.
JON
She’s says if I let you in
something bad will happen.
THERAPIST
Something bad? What do you mean?
JON
She says I can’t tell you.
The girl twirls towards the frame covering the screen.

Huh. Oh.
He gets out of bed slowly and as he looks up he sees the
scary figure of the girl, which makes him jump. She
quickly disappears.
JON
Oh, crap
He looks around and takes a bottle of water, he drinks it
half of the bottle and puts it down. He sits in his bed
for a while, looking around. He falls back to sleep
