2. Russia will increase food imports
from Ecuador, Chile, Brazil and
Argentina
 The Federal Service for Veterinary and Phytosanitary
Supervision of Russia will hold consultations with
diplomats from Ecuador, and other countries in order
to increase food exports from this and other
countries.
 Now Ecuador is not able to provide meat products to
the Russian market, but aims next year to be
declared free of food and mouth disease, something
that is an essential requirement for exports.

3. NEW OPPORTUNITIES
 Ecuador is a rich country especially in natural
resources, and climatic conditions which are
perfect for encouraging beekeeping, and there
are also great demand for this kind of products
in and out of the country.
 Products such as honey, propolis and jellies are
sold in Imbabura, Pichincha and Morona
Santiago.
 Actually United States, Canada, Belgium, Spain
and France are the countries where the honey
produced in Ecuador is exported, so why not to
Russia?

4. Local Manufacturing
 We have found a foundation which
is called “Colinas Verdes” that was
founded in 1993 and is an
independent, nonprofit
organization.This is located in
Southern Ecuador in the town of
San Pedro Vilcabamba. In San Pedro
community there is a small group of
beekeepers who have been
practicing apiculture for several
generations.

5.  These family farms are able to produce
hundreds of gallons of this delicious honey.
The honey of San Pedro is famous here in
Ecuador, tourists who have tasted it
continually request more to give as gifts to
family and friends.
 In recent news, the beekeeper’s group has
expanded their product line to include a
candy bar made of honey called Turron and
they are in the process of seeking out other
honey products.

6. Honey From Carchi
 Honey coming out of Carchi is positioned in the
markets of the country.
 It is sold in glass containers, in presentations of
USD 3, 6 and USD 10.
 According to estimates by the National Federation
of Beekeepers, 6000 people are engaged in this
activity in the country.
 In order to grow, beekeepers offer five types of honey,
according to flavor: avocado, eucalyptus, chaparral,
tangerine and coffee.

7. Of these, 90% do so using traditional methods with less than 10 hives.
Beekeeping is concentrated in the central and northern Sierra, besides
Manabi.
The anchor company “Abejas Ecuador" explains that the region enjoys
different climatic zones that benefit this activity, which is expected to
cover the unsatisfied demand in the country.

8. But why Honey?
 Honey is a well recognized product highly developed in the
provinces of Loja and Carchi.
 Due to the extremely low temperatures in Russia, we consider
that honey can be a good item export to Russia.
 Honey is a component that has a lot of calories so it is a key
factor to maintain body heat.
 Honey and its derivatives are also recognized in the border
towns in southwestern Colombia. "In Ipiales avocado honey sold
more."
