Each summer, MATC interns work with transportation professionals to provide themselves with experiences that will assist them when they enter the field of transportation research.
2. My Position
• Part of the Traffic Engineering team out of the Lincoln Office
• My Tasks:
• Assisted in the writing and editing of traffic study reports
• Used design software to create figures and construction plans
• Set up Miovision Scout cameras at study intersections
• Conducted site visits to assess existing conditions and problems
• Worked on traffic volume counts for the city of Lincoln
• Attended meetings with clients
3. S. 48th St. & Cornhusker Rd. Traffic Study
• Used Miovision cameras to obtain intersection traffic volumes
• Used Synchro Traffic software to simulate new phasing
• Determined the need for a protected – permitted phase for the westbound to
southbound left-turn movement
4. N. 48th St. & Cornhusker Hwy. Study
• Worked with the traffic engineering team to develop alternative intersection ideas.
• Intersection ideas were analyzed through Synchro Traffic software
• Will be presented to the City of Lincoln as part of the study

• N. 108th St. from Frontage Rd. to
Decatur St.
• S. 48th St. from Harrison St. to Q St.
6. Grand Island - North Rd. Project
• Scope:
• Widen North Rd. and add a two-way left-turn lane
• Construct a roundabout at the intersection of North Rd. and Capital Ave.
8. Lincoln 2019 Turning Movement Counts
• Miovision cameras were used to obtain traffic volume counts at a number of
intersections in Lincoln
• Analyzed data and reported intersection volumes through an excel template
provided by the City of Lincoln
9. Edgar Drainage
Intern Project
• Problem:
• City of Edgar was having issues with
stormwater ponding along streets and
ditches
• Solution:
• Regrade ditches to allow water to flow out
of town
• Replace culverts and construct a new
culvert under a parking area
• Construct a valley gutter to allow water to
flow across a street
