2) What are the main reasons of preschoolers’ absenteeism at your school?
The results of the questionnaire “My child’s kindergarten” carried out among parents
give the answer for the reasons of absence of kindergarten pupils. The main result of
absence is illness, vacations, parents’ leave or change of location. Many parents, who do
not work, do not take children to kindergarten as children do not like to wake up early
and is not willing to go the kindergarten. Some parents point out that the child does not

children whose presence may be contagious for their children.
3) Which absenteeism reason is the most common at your school?
The main reason of the absence of children is illness. Children attending kindergarten are prone
to infections which is the result of spreading viruses and diseased in a crowed places such as
kindergarten.
4) What are your precautions to decrease absenteeism?
We try to deal with illness, which is the main reason of absence of children in kindergarten. We
do this by strengthening the immune system of pupils. Therefore, we pay attention to regular
activities and physical activities such as short trips, everyday walk, promotion of healthy lifestyle
and appropriate diet. We also try to make the parents aware of the importance of the presence of
children in kindergarten.
5) What are your other social activities to make your school more attractive for preschoolers?
We make efforts in order to make our kindergarten comfortable place where children come
willingly. Therefore, we organize educational lessons and prepare different activities like Art
classes, musical and dancing lessons, gymnastics and many other activities which aim is to
enhance children’s development and skills. We also organize theatrical performances, concerts,
nativity plays and plays connected with the seasons of the year. There are also costume balls and
trips. We also go to cinema and theatre and invite interesting people. When the weather affords,
usually in spring or summer, we organize open-air feasts. We also do adaptation classes for
children who will attend our kindergarten.
6) What are your expectaions from “Smileys Project” ? What will it add to your school
Owing to the process of exchanging our activities and practice, we enhance our educational
offer and together with our partners, we create effective teaching methods which main aim is
to make a kindergarten more attractive for children.
Moreover, we will gain knowledge about how other kindergartens deal with the problem of
absence. Thus, we may exchange our observations and methods.
