HSE Experience
15 years on the tools as a pipe fitter during which
time I became safety rep accredited by the union. In
1996 I started work on building the BP Amoco CATS
Terminal during this time was offered a full time
safety position. After 3 years I then moved onto
various projects around the UK carrying out site
inspections and company safety audits reporting
back to head office. In January 2000 I started work
on the Wilton International site involved in several
shutdown and maintenance chemical plant projects.
In August 2002 I joined the Shell Bonga FPSO Safety
team in Wallsend, Newcastle and continued with the
project during the offshore hook up and
commissioning phase of the project, working offshore
Nigeria.
In 2006 I took the opportunity to work as HES
Advisor for Chevron in Angola working on the
Construction and commissioning of the Cabinda Gas
Plant until 2011 when I was transferred to the
Caspian Pipeline Expansion Project in Russia.
On completion of my 3year contract with Chevron on
the Caspian Pipeline Expansion Project my next and
present international project is with the North
Caspian Operating Company (NCOC) in Kazakhstan
on the Kashagan Project providing both onshore and
offshore HSE support.

Employed to provide professional health, safety and
environmental support to all aspects of both the onshore
and offshore operation and to support the
implementation of the NCOC N.V. HSE policies and the
company’s fulfillment of its duty of care responsibilities.
Additionally, to support both Onshore/Offshore Site
Readiness for production restart in Q4 2016 and
ramping up; including planning, coordination &
implementation of all aspects of Going Live and Going
Sour milestones, thus ensuring all HSE preparations
are carried out effectively, thoroughly, and in line with

Expansion Project - 2011 – 2015
Employed as HES Advisor for the client over seeing a
team of HES Field specialist and together have
achieved a outstanding 5million man-hours, without a
lost time incident. Duties include but not limited to
supervision of HES team, managing work area
schedules, rotation schedules also attending
management meeting on a daily basis and chairing
weekly HES staff meetings. Promoting Incident & Injury
Free program (IIF) on a daily basis
Chairman of the Behavioral Based Safety committee
chairing meetings and reporting specific data to IIF site
leadership team on a monthly basis.

2. Swift Oil & Gas - Chevron – Cabinda Gas Plant –
2006 – 2011
Employed for construction and commissioning
phases as one of the HES Field Specialist for client
overseeing and working alongside contractor HES
Team. Together managing the safety of a multi –
cultural work force, promoting Incident & Injury Free
program (IIF) on a daily basis. Committed to ensuring
all works are carried out in accordance with the
Project Permit to Work procedure and Clients
Standard Operating Procedures. Attending
contractor’s tool box talks every morning and adding
value to these safety discussions as and when
required.
Reviewing Job Safety Analysis sheets on a daily
basis and assisting with hazard identification and
proper mitigation measures for each task.
Amec - SNEPCO Shell Bonga FPSO – 2002 - 2006
I joined this project during the topsides integration
phase in the fabrication yard as HSE Advisor
continuing into the offshore Hook Up and
Commissioning phase. Main duties include: On-the-
Job coaching of supervision for a multi – cultural
workforce (UK, USA, Nigerian, Filipino, Australian
etc.). Provided training in Risk Assessment and
safety Intervention. Assisting with the definition of
the project best practices from the various national
practices of the organisation. Also carried out
Induction training, TRIC Card training, site
inspections, accident/incident investigation reports,
safety audits, and HAZID/HAZOP. From this project I
gained Offshore Survival, Offshore experience and
International experience.
Amec - BP Clair 11.7000tonne Integrated Deck -
2002 – 2003
I was employed as HSE Advisor in the fabrication
yard to manage all aspects of health and safety for
the nightshift. I provided training of all supervision
and workforce of both AMEC and Client best
practices, Tool Box Talks, Risk Assessment, COSHH
assessments, Manual Handling, Abrasive Wheels
etc.
Amec - BP Rhum 2000 tonne LPBC Module- 2002-
2003
I Worked as HSE Advisor on the fabrication yard in
charge of nightshift, reporting to the yard HSE
Manager on all issues relating to health and safety. I
was the focal point on nightshift for all workforce and
Supervisors I provided information, Training,
instruction and guidance on safe working practices.
Amec - DuPont – Huntsman – Union Carbide –
2000 – 2002
I was employed as HSE Advisor on the Wilton
International site Teesside. Duties included carrying out
both AMEC inductions and the above client inductions
to all personnel working on various shutdowns. Training
given to all trades on the best practices for working on
chemical plants, live plant and equipment, confined
space, lock out and tag out. I gained from the various
projects CDM Certification, IOSH Certificates and
NEBOSH Certificate.
UK Construction - Cussons – BFNL – SLP –
Kvaerner – NW Water –1998 – 1999
I was working as HSE auditor to carry out regular audits
at various sites around the UK. Report all findings of the
audits to company and the above client HSE
management departments. Purpose of these audits was
to see if company safety policy and safe systems of
work as stated in the H&S plans were being
implemented. Challenging but interesting role trying to
make the findings of your report has an effect on how
the various projects were managed. Down side was too
much time spent travelling around all UK sites and
stuck in traffic jams, positive was keeping up with
legislation.
UK Construction - BP Amoco CATS Terminal – 1995
- 1998
Started employment as a pipe fitter/safety rep was
offered chance to go into safety full time, spent most of
the project learning the safety advisor role and
responsibilities, after which duties included carrying out
site inductions, site inspections, safety meetings,
completing risk assessments, method statements and
Producing the monthly safety bulletin. This project won
the ROSPA Gold Award and the Sword of Honour.
Whilst on this project I attended night school twice a
week studying health and safety.
