2. THE PROBLEM
Slough Borough Council wanted to create
a hub for the Britwell Community. They
commissioned the design and build of a
new community centre and engaged DAS to
help them make it a reality.
The new building was earmarked to be the
home of a new library, family contact centre,
adult learning, meeting rooms and copious
other areas. All these different sections of
the building required different technologies to
maximise their benefit to the community and
make the councils investment work as hard
as it possibly could to deliver the highest
quality services.
The project required both security and media
technologies to be applied and crucially a
level of accessibility which truly made it a
community wide facility.

DAS surveyed the site, drew up its plans
and submitted a quote to DHT, the M&E
contractor, who had been commissioned to
carry out the full building requirements.
WHY DAS
DHT selected DAS as its technology partner
based on our ability to supply a full turnkey
solution encompassing various technology
solutions. Using a single supplier to install
the full range of services makes DAS a
business that is easy to work with. Having
worked on other similar projects with DHT
we had a record of being both efficient and
cost effective.
QUOTE TO INSTALL
Once the pricing for the work had been
agreed and signed off DAS and DHT
discussed the final designs and the process
to ensure all of the technological solutions
worked as the client expected and ultimately
as the community members will expect.
A number of pre-start meetings were held
with the client and the Main Contractor,
equipment locations were discussed as well
as cable routes and other fine details of the
install process. A number of plans were then
drawn up before final locations were decided
on.

INSTALLATION
Due this project being a new building the
installation was carried out over a three
month period with different technologies
being added at different stages of the build
process to compliment the construction
process and keep costs to an absolute
minimum.
For this installation we accessed specialist
equipment to commission parts of the
project to ensure precise delivery against the
quotation and spec.
