Cinderella, By Bruno Bettelheim
Introduction
Disney Princesses are known to be depending on their Prince Charming for happiness. As years pass
by, Princesses today are more independent and don't need a Prince Charming in their lives. This idea
affects children who feel inspired by these Fairy Tales. In the article, Cinderella, by Bruno
Bettelheim, he states, "It gives the child confidence that the same will be true to him." This makes
children think that they will have a similar life as them. Disney Princesses have changed overtime
since the 1930s. In this essay, I will give examples of Disney Princesses and how they have changed
from dependent to independent in the movie industry.

Belle is a confusing character and hard to tell whether she is independent or dependent before she
was imprisoned. She lives with her father, but also does things on her own. She is in the middle of
being dependent and independent. When Belle becomes a prisoner and lives with the Beast, she is
considered dependent, since she isn't on her own. Disney is starting to change the dependent life of
Princesses by making them independent.
Moana
An adventurous young teen, goes on a mission to find demigod Maui to help her save the people
and their island. She was given a green stone by her grandmother to restore the heart of Te Fiti that
Maui took. Throughout her journey, Moana fulfills the ancient quest of her ancestors and discovers
her own identity.
Moana is known to be an independent Disney Princess. She goes on a voyage on her own to find
Maui. Disney wanted to make Princesses independent to show children that you don't need to be
dependent to have a perfect life. In the article, A Modern Cinderella, by Karol Kelly, she says,
"Feminism requires self–acceptance as well as tolerance, that is, the acceptance of others' dreams
and decisions for themselves." She means that feminism doesn't have to be like a Cinderella story,
where you have a Fairy Godmother and have a Prince Charming at the end. Moana is a different
type of Princess that has big dreams, and doesn't require a Prince in her life.

You all know the story of Cinderella but do you know the story of Ella. There once was a girl who
lived happily with her two stepsisters and stepmother. One day a letter came in the mail saying that
they were invited to the prince's ball. Ella and her steps sisters celebrated but there mother was not
pleased with the invention. Ella knew something was wrong and she was going to get to the bottom
of this. That night her stepmother called her near the fireplace her sisters were sleeping, she said "
Ella my deer you shall not go to the ball there is danger there that's awaits your arrival." Ella didn't
understand what her stepmother was talking about she said " what danger awaits, of it's so bad why
haven't you stopped me before." "Ella my deer you were too young to understand you still are trust
me i'm doing this for your own safety." Ella runs upstairs and weeps in her bed until she has fallen
asleep. The next morning she starts planning, she will go to the ball but without her step sisters and
mother knowing. That night she starts crafting her dress. She had finished with a beautiful pink
gown with bows and glitter, her plan was starting to go in action. On the night of the ball she came
downstairs with the dress on. Her stepmother was in disbelief, her reaction was, to rip the dress into
shreds. Ella's stepsisters try to stop her but they still didn't understand what was happening. They
were too late Ella's dress was already ruined. Ella ran to her room and wonder why this

stepmother and sisters once her dad passed away. She is forced to work a full time job as a student
in highschool and is working harder than ever to get into the college of her dreams. However, the
issue shows that Sam is forced to work for her evil stepmother and sisters. This is because she needs

Cinderella in this case is running obstacles to please everyone while she continues to get treated

Cinderella Essay
Cinderella stories have been around since the 1st century BC. Since then, many cultures have
created their own versions of this well–known story which reflect the same morals as the story most
children know today. One adage that has been around just as long as these stories is "this too will
pass"; saying that everything in life is temporary. The common structure of a Cinderella story
follows a girl who is beautiful, yet for some reason is undesirable. This original suffering by a
stepmother or other character requires perseverance, but this eventually comes to an end when the
heroine meets a prince, is forced her to leave the prince, but is eventually sought out by the prince to
be married. The many versions of this story ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Both Sodewa Bai and The Little Red Fish and the Golden Clog have heroines that trust someone
who's outside image didn't reflect who they actually were. In Sodewa Bai, the heroine confides in
her husband's first wife her secret about her necklace which kept her alive. In Little Red Fish and
the Golden Clog, this is the fisherman's daughter who thought that their neighbor would be a good
stepmother for her. In both of these stories the person they trust isn't trusted by a person in the
heroine's life. For the fisherman's daughter this is her father who doesn't trust the woman, while for
the Sodewa Bai, it is her husband's parents who are wary of the intentions of the prince's first wife.
Both of the people who are trusted by the heroine are the ones who end up causing her pain and
suffering. This is an interesting way to have written the story because it gave the characters the
perspective in which they suffered because of their choices and other people are not to blame. These
myths explain that in life, hardships are tests and show that one must be responsible for their actions
as well as maintain qualities like patience, humility, and hope through suffering and through

Gender Expectations Of Women: The Cinderella Story Of...
Open Book Final Exam
"Gender is not just about women."
When gender issues arise, it is often assumed that women are the central focus. However, gender
affects not only women, but men as well. Botelho and Rudman allude to this idea when they make
the point that like women, males are approached with similar gender expectations. Unfortunately,
women have always made considerably less money than men. In 2005, a study revealed that women
earned 78 cents to every dollar that men earned. While these numbers are shocking, men have to
endure extreme gender expectations. If a man accepts a position as a nurse or a teacher, he is not
taken as seriously as a woman who has obtained the same position. Gender issues exist in children's
literature. For example, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Since everyday texts and children's literature both contain views and ideas, exposing students to
both types of text will make the critical multicultural analysis process easier. I recently experienced
the benefits of juxtaposing texts. I found that once I compared multiple children's book to other
types of literature I was able to consider other possibilities and hidden ideas in the text. From this
experience, I understand firsthand why students should be taught not to rely on just one text or one
author. Students need to be taught that they will not be able to gain a full understanding of the text
without first examining multiple texts and other sources. The practice of multimodalities is
described as a method of reconstructing the text using different systems such as; visual arts, digital
technologies, and writing. My experience with using multimodalities was a positive one. At first, I
was unsure of the purpose or benefits of using multimodalities, but once I completed a digital
hierarchy for the Cinderella project I quickly realized that reconstructing the text while using the
graphic organizer ultimately helped me to organize the findings from the critical multicultural
analysis. I think that multimodalities are beneficial in the classroom and will ultimately expand the

Cinderella Story Analysis
Since its first telling, the story of Cinderella has been captivating audiences of children and adults
alike. From the story's first telling in 9th century China to the Walt Disney adaptation, many
versions of this rags to riches story have been shared and enjoyed. However, as time has passed,
parent's perception of the story has changed. In this modern era, many parents have problems with
keys parts of a majority of Cinderella stories. This puts them at odds with parents who see no
problem with the stories contents. The parents unhappy with the contents of the tale often find
problems with the way in which the stepmother is presented. For example, in "The Wicked
Stepmother" a story from India it says of the stepmother "She at ... Show more content on

"The stepmother didn't like Yeh–
Shen for she was more beautiful and kinder than her own daughter so she treated her poorly"
(Behrens et al.612). It also continues the trend of the stepfamily being inherently evil. In "The
Rough–Faced Girl" the sisters go so far as to burn her to the point it ruins her appearance
(Behrens et al. 574). Unconcerned parents have a different perspective on these events however. For
them it is not about ugly vs pretty. It is about good vs evil. The stepsister is often a wealthy and
spoiled girl. Her main focuses are trivial and self–centered. Most of her dialogue resolves around
what she plans to wear. For example, "'For my part," said the eldest, "I will wear my red velvet suit
with French trimming"' (Perrault 548). By putting her up against Cinderella it shows her jealous
nature and further affirms her poor character. It gives her something to envy in Cinderella. Her
unappealing outward appearance is also a reflection of the ugliness inside her soul. Just as
Cinderella's beautiful heart shines out in her lovely looks so does the sister's ugly heart show
through hers. One of the greatest concerns for worried parents is found in Cinderella herself. Many
parents trying to raise girls who grow up to be hard working and strong women find issue with
Cinderella's personality. She reacts to the step mother's treatment with a level of passiveness and in
the end she achieves her dreams by chance or through the

Once upon a time... Wait a minute, no, this is not your cliche fairy tale. It doesn't have a princess
and a dashing prince who fall for each other after overcoming some stupid obstacle like a poison
apple or sleeping curse. I've read those stories, but it's all the same, everyone gets a happy ending
except for the villain. That's going to change right now because this is my story, and my fairy tale
certainly doesn't end with everyone getting their happy ending. This is the story of Cinderella. Not

I started to laugh when we made a startling halt. Standing in front of me wearing his pride on his
face was the Prince himself. Behind him was a castle's carriage drawn by five white stallions. Still
out of breath, gasping to try to say something to explain myself, the only words I could find were,
"Prince Charming, lovely to make your acquaintance." I always found Prince Charming such a
terrible name because if anything he was the opposite of charming. He is so fake and misleading, he
acts like this brave hero when really he is just a spoiled prince who sits up in his castle and pretends
to care about his people. "Milady," he bows his head slightly as if to say 'how do you do?', "May I
ask why you were riding so fast away from the palace?" Rhetorical question, he knew why I rode so
fast but if he wanted to play games I guess I could play along. "When I ride fast I feel more free,
and isn't that what everyone wants, to feel free?" I said, it was partly true, all I wanted was to feel
like I was riding fast forever. "Possibly, but then can you explain the goods you stole from my
kingdom?" He said, still using that proper voice he uses with all his people. I knew he thought I was
guilty before this whole conversation, there's no point in playing games when he thinks he's already
won. "I don't have to answer to you. You're not my king, you're not even a king yet." I said very
forcefully, I didn't mean to come off as impolite, but he had to

Short Story : Cinderella And Cinderella
Once upon a time, there was a big–hearted girl named Cinder, who lived in a kingdom of hope and
magical powers which will heal their dilemma. A place where the king and queen still ruled the
kingdom in the 21st century. The king and queen were really nice at heart, but they died in a ship
crash one month ago, which is why the prince had to take over the kingdom. Just like the prince,
Cinder was also heartbroken because her mom died in the same crash while serving the queen on
the ship. After six months of mourning, the prince finally thinks about his father's wish for him to
get married as soon as the prince takes over the kingdom. While the prince was busy servicing the
kingdom, things were different for Cinder. Cinder's father got her a stepmother and two stepsisters.
They made cinder's life very unpleasant, moreover, Cinder had to work for them so that she could
get the money for households and other things. She was the only person to bring an income to her
house because her dad died on the trip to Europe. Cinder works hard day and night to please her
stepmother and stepsisters but each day they use her to get their work done. The prince and Cinder
never met each other before because they were children and when they grew up they had their own
responsibility to take care of. One day the prince and Cinder met in the forest while prince hunting

The Curfew of the Cinderella Story The Cinderella concept is one that is already outdated, and
certainly not timeless. Much of the concept originated from cultural aspects of the time period in
which each Cinderella story was created. Certain aspects of the concept would need to be changed
to make it more appropriate for modern day.
Oftentimes, the Cinderella concept emphasizes her good looks. Perrault's Cinderella explicitly
mentions that Cinderella is "a hundred times more beautiful than her sisters" (Perrault). The Prince
in the story falls in love with her before even knowing her true identity, and "love at first sight" is a
present theme in almost every retelling of the Cinderella story. This implies that the only reason

While there is an argument that Cinderella contains a message that teaches the value of kindness, the
other aspects of Cinderella's character defeat the purpose of this. Her character is ultimately one that
is passive, and takes no action to control her own fate. She has no ambition other than to go to a
dance, and marry into wealth and status. She does not even do these things herself: she continues to
mindlessly endure constant torment and abuse until a fairy godmother–like character appears and
uses magic to give Cinderella what she wants. In Grimm's version, Cinderella continues to pick
dishes of lentils out of ashes until she is helped (Grimm). The true passivity and weakness of
Cinderella's character is an outdated message for young girls. Strong female characters are
becoming more and more of a necessity in media. It is much more common today to see heroine
characters instead of martyrs like Cinderella.
The Cinderella concept's focus on love is also outdated, and could even be damaging for young
people today. Elaina Chastain, writer for literary magazine The Artifice describes this issue: "There
is, additionally, the belief that love is superior to both independence and education. Today, being
independent and educated are things that more and more women are focused on," (Chastain).
Cinderella is never shown to even consider her own independence or education.

Work, Work and Work. This was Cinderella's life, and it was all because of my mother. You may
think you know how Cinderella's story went but it's not true I am not just one of the evil stepsister.
This is what really happened. Mother treated cinderella terribly and I hate it. I want to be kind to her
because she is kind to us even with the way we treat her. We got a letter in the mail that had a red
castle stamp on the back which meant it was from the royal family. It read,
" All members of this household are invited to join us at the royal ball where the prince will pick
one mayden to dance with."
I was thrilled because Cinderella would actually be able to go out for a night... But of course my
mother had to come in the way.
" You cannot go unless you sweep the floors, wash the dishes, clean the barn, dust the shoes, tidy
our rooms and groom the horses"
She gave her so much work that it would be nearly impossible for cinderella to attend the ball.
Cinderella knew if she even wanted a chance at going to the ball that she would have to get to work.
While Cinderella did her chores my mother, sister, and I started to get ready for the ball we did
everything from hair to makeup and mother walked into my room with a beautiful Emerald velvet
gown with shimmery crystals lining the bottom. When I tried it on it looked almost as Whimsical as
the clouds. as time went by we were astonished to hear Cinderella working in the sewing room. we
walked over to the room only to see the sight of Cinderella and a beautiful gown it was once her
mother's. my mother said " you cannot go to the ball the chores can not possibly be done"
" they are, all of them" my mother stepped closer and started to tear the dress and rip off pieces my
sister did as well... And so did I. rip... Rip one piece after another until the dress was nothing but
shreds of fabric. once we left Cinderella was in tears I felt terrible, but I knew if I didn't follow
along mother would scold me after. I was sitting on my bed Staring at the wooden clock hanging
above my dresser just waiting for time to pass so that I could get out of the house to try to get my
mind off of what had happened. I just wish there was something I could do but nothing came to
mind. I

Stereotypes In A Cinderella Story
I argue that the movie, A Cinderella Story shows one of the kinds of stereotypes that many black
women face in using the mammy figure that Melissa Harris–Perry discussed broadly in her book. A
Cinderella story does this by having a black woman character named Rhonda who acts as the
caretaker and worker under the main character, who is a wealthy white woman. Ultimately, A
Cinderella Story creates this mammy figure by having Rhonda work underneath a rich white woman
and her three daughters. Melissa Harris–Perry says, "Unlike the bad black woman who was
aggressively sexual, Mammy had no personal needs or desires. She was a trusted adviser and
confidante whose skills were used exclusively in the service of the white families to which she was

So, one day this big shot guy from the royal palace comes on by to their house to deliver an

Now Cinderella cried and cried because she couldn't go to this dam ball to meet this Prince

found Cinderella's room. And we began working on her dress and then with everybody's help we got

When she came back upstairs I was very eager to show her it. Okay that wasn't right but she loved it
and went downstairs to show the witch. I went through the hole to see if she liked it. I figured that

everything the dress was ruined and I hated them. Then I saw the sparkling lights and that was when
I went outside. A strange lady appeared. Her cute dress and the magic wand that's what made it all

When examining adaptations of fairytales you must look at the original source. This can be a very
difficult task because with fairytales we never really know where the original came from. I will base
my paper on the theory that the original tale of Cinderella comes from the Grimm Brothers version
of Ashputtle. In comparison we will examine two movies. First there is the Disney version
Cinderella. Secondly we will look at the movie 'Ever After'.
Characterization is an important aspect of any story or film, because it sets what the entire film will
be about, and how the audience will absorb it. In the story of "Ashputtle". The characters include

Cinderella in this film is portrayed as a sweet and innocent child who years to be loved after her
father passes on leaving her in the care of a very evil stepmother. The character of the prince was
very different then in the first film. In the other film we find that the prince has feelings and
emotions, whereas in this film, he is portrayed as a very dedicated man who falls in love and
becomes obsessed. The odd thing about his character is that he is not seen very much in the film, it
focuses more on Cinderella, and her family and her attempts to go to the "ball". Also it focuses on
the fact that the king is forcing his son to marry.
Viewpoint affects many different aspects of a story and film. When we look at the story we read it
from the viewpoint of ?Ashputtle?. This viewpoint in the story is Omniscient Narrator = which is
"an objective, non–participating all–seeing mind". In the story version the author plays the role of
narrator, as he is the one telling the story. In the first film "Ever After" the point of view is told from
the first person point of view. First person = describes a character who participates in the events of
the story and tells it in an subjective fashion. We see examples of this when we view the film,
because when the characters that portray the "Grimm Brothers" come to the palace and then the
great, great, great granddaughter of the real "Cinderella" tells the story. The second

Moral Story Of Cinderella
Many times, people dream of being the protagonists of a Disney movie and thus live in a fantasy
world where they are happy forever. It is easy to create the illusion that in the world of princesses
everything is perfect and beautiful. In fact, behind these stories hides a reproduction of the purest
and harsh truth of the real life in which we live, where events they are not isolated, and they all have
a direct impact on people's lives and change them either positively or negatively. So, are these fairy
tales true stories of happiness?
The film Cinderella tells the story of a lovely girl with a very pure heart who had everything in life.
She was pleased, had a beautiful family, a house, and goods, and most importantly, much love.
Although her family possessed some riches, she was raised in an environment of kindness, kindness,
compassion, and love for the animals she considered her friends, especially the little mice. When his
mother dies, her father marries a "kind" woman with two daughters and a cat, or at least that was
what he thought about his new wife, whom Cinderella warmly receives at home. Cinderella's
stepmother pretended all along to be an adorable housewife capable not only of being a good mother
to her own daughters but to the daughter of her husband. Everything changes the day Cinderella's
father passed away. From that moment, the girl begins to be a victim of abuse, mistreatment, and
humiliations of her evil stepmother and her spoiled and jealous stepsisters.

Cinderella Story Analysis
One of these stories is Cinderella, with a classic story that is loved and known by many people.
Cinderella is about a girl whose mother dies, leaving Cinderella and her father. The father marries
another woman, who has two daughters of her own from a previous marriage, and eventually the
father dies as well. The stepmother and her daughters treat Cinderella terribly and make her do all of
the chores in the house. An opportunity arises where she can go to a ball the prince is having, but
she isn't allowed to go because of the stepmother. She is very upset about this, but something
magical happens, and she gets a beautiful outfit to wear, and goes to the ball unrecognized, because
she looks so beautiful.. She meets the prince and falls in love, but has to leave at midnight, at which
time she loses her shoe. The prince finds her shoe and goes out searching for her, and he ends up
finding and marrying her. Although this is the basic plot to a European version of Cinderella, if we
look at another version of the tale, the Chinese version of the "Tale of Yeh–Shen," we can see
similarity but with a number of differences.
To begin, the opening of each story is very different. The Grimms' Cinderella, starts off the way that
we know the Cinderella story now. A rich man's wife dies, leaving behind her daughter, Cinderella,
and her husband. However, the beginning of "Yeh–Shen," the Chinese version of Cinderella, is very
different:
Long, long time ago, there was a cave chief who married

The Story Of Cinderella
Rewrite a fairy tale from the perspective of one of the minor character in the story.
Once upon a time, there was a little house that lived in the forest not too far from the king's castle.
Hello, my name is Anna one of Cinderella's stepsisters and my other sister is Rose. You must have
heard that in the store of Cinderella that we are the evil stepsisters in the story. Well now I am going
to write a story about how nice we are and that we are not evil. One–day Cinderella's father had
passed and my beautiful mother brought her into our house to do some chores around the house. So,
Cinderella got to work on the chores, making dinner for my mother and me and my sister. We saved
some for Cinderella while she was cleaning up she was eating the food that she made. One–day we
all got an invention to the prince's ball tomorrow night. So that day we went out to shop for some
ball gown dresses. The night of the prince's ball we all got ready to go meet the prince so that he can
pick out a bride for himself and we all were so excited. The mother told Cinderella to stay home and
finish up the chores for when we get back from the ball. So, I and mother and Rose left for the ball
leaving Cinderella at home to work on the chores. When we all got to the ball there was a lot of
people there for the prince's ball, but I went up to talk with the prince and maybe dance with him,
but all of sudden everyone looked and there was a beautiful princess walking down to the floor. The

What Is The Evil Of Cinderella
An evil stepmother, two abusive stepsisters, a neglecting father and one Cinderella. The original
story starts with the widowed father and his daughter. As her father moves on and marries a new
wife, their family of two is soon joined by two step–sisters and a step–mother. The new family
members treat Cinderella miserably. Through many years of hard work, Cinderella never does harm
towards her extended family. She keeps her mother's words close to her heart. "Dear child, be good
and pious, and then the good God will always protect you, and I will look down on you from heaven
and be near you."
A three day festival is held by the king in order to find his son a wife and all the daughters want to
attend, even Cinderella. The stepmother allows Cinderella to go the ball in a condition that she was
to finish her chores, but when Cinderella does finish, her stepmother takes it back and does not
permit Cinderella to go. Cinderella goes to her mother's grave where she has planted a tree. There
Cinderella finds a bird that grants her wish of being able to go the festival.
On the first day, Cinderella and the prince dance but she runs away. The same thing happens the
next day. On the third day of the festival, the prince smeared pitch on the ... Show more content on

Both characters use Cinderella as a maid and deprive her from a good childhood. On the other hand,
the father is alive and neglecting in the original text however in the adaptation, an earthquake causes
Cinderella/Sam's father to die. I believe that Disney chose to allow her father's death in order to
appeal more to the audience. If Cinderella's father stayed alive, like it was depicted in the original
story, it would illustrate a bad fathering image to the young audience since it would show that he
would just be neglecting his daughter's suffering. In addition to this, it would make more sense since
the father's death is what caused the stepmother to gain the father's

Archetypes In Cinderella Stories
Many people wonder where all the Cinderella stories originated from? They originated from the
most popular version written in French by Charles Perrault written in 1607. The Little Golden book,
the Grimm brothers version and the 2015 Disney Film version of Cinderella are all taken from the
original story. All Cinderella stories have the same storyline, but there are differences and
similarities between the archetypes and the characters and in the theme in the three versions.
There are lots of archetypes seen throughout all three versions. An archetype that is shown is circles,
which means wholeness and unity. An example of circles from The Little Golden Book is "A
pumpkin rose up and swelled into an elegant coach"(6). This shows that Cinderella's life is
becoming complete because the coach takes her the ball, which is where she meets the price she
marries. Another example of circles is the sunrise in the morning this is shown in the Grimms
version "There she had to do hard work from morning until evening ...." ( paragraph 6). This shows
wholeness in the morning when the sunrises being the sun is becoming whole and its a circle.
Likewise in the Little Golden Book, the Fairy Godmother turned the pumpkin into an elegant coach
that she road to the ball as projected in the 2015 Disney movie. This shows that her life is coming
complete because she has found her destiny which is the price she meets at the ball.
The theme is all three versions are similar but also have their own

Cinder is a twisted cinderella story. It is about a cyborg named Cinder. She is abused by her
stepmother and her step sisters. Cinder gets put into testing she finds the truth about her past. When
the dreaded Queen Levena comes, Cinder gets put in grave danger. This book had a few plot twists.
Like when cinder finds out that she is lunar and then later she finds out that that she is a princess.
That plot twist made it that Queen Levena would want to kill Cinder. I liked this book because it
was very interesting. The book had some exciting scenes making it more interesting. Also at the
climax it had some action and that alway makes the book better for me. The author made the book

Once upon a time, there was a beautiful girl named Cinderella. She lived with her wicked
stepmother and two stepsisters. They treated Cinderella very badly. One day, they were invited to a
grand ball at the king's palace. But Cinderella's stepmother refused to let her go. Cinderella was only
made to sew new party gowns for her stepmother and stepsisters, curl their hair, and she not
complaining. When they left for the ball, leaving Cinderella alone at home, she felt very sad and

The texts are all written in a pretty traditional format and a comprehensive narrative style. All of the
versions of the story of Cinderella are clear texts that have a predetermined plot line and the author
has made it clear to the reader what emotions they should feel through the whole reading of the
story. In Perrault's story, when Cinderella stepsister says "That is very true, people would laugh to
see a cinder–slut in the ballroom. Anyone else but Cinderella would have done their hair amiss, but
she was good–natured, and she finished them off to perfection" (Perrault, 68). The reader feels bad
for Cinderella because her stepsisters call her a terrible name, yet she remains good–natured and
completes her task without complaint, which makes the reader wonder if Cinderella is a saint.
Cinderella's behavior could also be considered another example of the conservative beliefs
concerning the proper role of a female appearing in this story. The text repeatedly provides readers
with what they want. For example, in the Grimm Brothers Ashputtle "the king's son looked into
Ashputtle's face, he recognized the beautiful girl he had danced with and cried out: 'This is my true
bride!' The stepmother and the two sisters went pale with fear and rage. However, he lifted
Ashputtle up on his horse and rode away with her" (Hallett, 51). In the Grimm's brother version, the
stepsisters have their eyes gouged out by birds after the wedding, which could arguably be yet
another example of giving the reader what he or she wants because in many cases the reader would
like to see bad fortune happen to the evil stepsisters since they had treated their sister badly. A final
conservative element of the Cinderella stories is their adult–centered nature. The most striking

Ah marriage! That one blissful day all young girls dream of, standing at the altar in a beautiful white
dress, gazing into the dreamy eyes of her beloved and promising to be wed till "Death do them

throws his dirty laundry on the floor. Was it not meant to be? How does Cinderella handle it? I
talked with a young woman in my church that is still relatively a newlywed. Mrs. Jewel Ward was
raised in church, has been married for a little over 2 years and is expecting their first child. She is
the only young woman in our church who is married and I was interested to see how she dealt with
"reality" once the honeymoon phase was over. Would marriage be full of struggles like the world
likes to tell us, or would having a solid foundation in God strengthen the bond?
Every girl plans out their life to some extent or another, and Mrs. Ward was no exception. Sitting in
school, she thought of the future. "I want to get married halfway through college and be able to
announce my first pregnancy on my graduation day." she decided. Check, and check! Her life is
coming together the way she hoped. One thing though that she planned on did not come to pass;
before her wedding day, she was preparing herself for the inevitable struggles that would come
along with the wedded bliss. Many of those struggles that she was sure would come along never

Greece : A Country Enriched With Culture And History Essay
Greece is a country enriched with culture and history. So much so, that Greece has two different
variants of Cinderella. Authors Anthony L. Manna and Soula Mitakidou, and illustrator Giselle
Potter who used watercolor media, took both retellings to create the picturebook The Orphan: A
Cinderella Story From Greece. In the Author's note, Manna and Mitakidou disclose how their tale is
mostly based on their translation of the orphan's tale that can be found in Chatzitaki–Kapsomenou's
The Modern Greek Folktale, where Manna and Mitakidou also got their title. The two authors also
took inspiration from their translation of Loukato's version of the tale in Modern Greek Folk Texts.
They take references such as, religious themes, and the use of honey as a vital plot device. Manna
and Mitakidou also decided to change one very universal part of most Cinderella stories. Instead of
making their Cinderella, the orphan, be the submissive character, the authors decided to have the
orphan be her own heroine and go after her prince. Deciding her own faith, rather than just waiting
in ashes or a dark corner for her prince to come and save her. Manna and Miakidou's orphan is a
young, self–determined women who takes her destiny into her own hands. The story begins like any
other Cinderella story with a family of three. The daughter was very well taken care of by her
mother who gave her baths in musk–scented water while combing her "long, dark hair with an ivory
comb, and signing her to sleep

Cinderella By: Jackie Once upon a time, there was once a very beautiful girl called Ella. Ella had a

of art, but most importantly, she was a very happy child. She lived with her rich father together and
he loved her more than anything on the planet. As a child, she loved to sculpt things. She loved to
sculpt people's faces, events from the past or whatever she liked. As her father recognised her
talents, he sent her to an art school where Ella honed her talents with each passing day. One day,
when Ella was 18 years old, her father met a widow with 2 daughters, and he quickly fell in love
with her and married her. Her stepmother was very beautiful, however, she had a malicious
personality beneath her beautiful features, and she hated Ella more than anything, especially how
Ella is always happy. Unfortunately, Ella's father fell seriously ill and was diagnosed with an
incurable cancer and sadly died soon after. After the death of Ella's father, her stepmother knew of
his wealth, and she quickly used it to pay for her expensive hobbies and she never failed to flaunt
her wealth to her neighbours to raise her social status. With her hatred of Ella, she took her out of

Literary Differences In Kissing The Witch By Emma Donoghue
Nobody made me do the things I did, nobody scolded me, nobody punished me but me. The shrill
voices were all inside. Do this, do that, you lazy heap of dirt" (2). Coming from the first passage of
Emma Donoghue's Kissing the Witch sets a revision of popular fairy tales whereas internal voices,
seen as personal experience, and their comparison to external voices, seen as societal expectations,
create places where these stories change. This shift can be seen as a move away from the original
well known story or aspects of that particular story, while also representing a change in the narrator
of the story itself.
The passage above for instance occurs when a cinderella type character is introduced to the reader.
These internal voices are normally associated with the external voices of the evil stepmother and
stepdaughters, which is associated widely with a common thread within the cinderella story itself.
This revision flips what is normally seen as an external voice and internalizes it. A few pages later
we see the girl and her interaction with the prince after he proposes marriage. "The voices were
shrieking, Yes yes yes say yes before you lose your chance you bag of nothingness. I opened my
teeth but no sound came out" (7). While the passage above set up the idea of internal voices, this
passage shows how this internalized external voice is not the voice of the cinderella type narrator.
Not only does this completely rewrite what is considered the normal ending for the

A Twist on Happily Ever After Key elements from original story Key elements from modern culture
It was a typical Friday night for Cinderella; dusting pictures, scrubbing the floor, and doing laundry.
What else did she expect to do on a Friday night? Nothing at all. Her step mother always had her do
chores making it impossible for her to have a social life. She got out of the house once a week on
Monday morning, and that was only to get groceries at the store. Cinderella was always on a
schedule that her stepmother set. Cinderella had to clean up after her two evil step sisters. All
Cinderella wanted was one best friend that she knew she could always count on. On that same
Friday night under the sea, Ariel was sitting in her room just dreaming of the life on land she would
love to live. She dreamed of having a beautiful house surrounded by trees and gorgeous flowers.
Ariel wondered how many friends she would have on land, she always admired those that lived on
the ground. All she did was think of life on land. Her father got upset whenever Ariel even
mentioned the land. Her father, King Triton was very controlling and forbid Ariel to visit the land,
let alone day dream about it. Cinderella woke up Saturday morning to a note that her stepmother left
her, "The girls and I are going out of town for the rest of the weekend for a shopping trip. Sweep, do
laundry, and prepare meals for this next week. Oh, you might as well scrub the floor again, the girls

Movie Report : Cinderella Stories
Abstract
The reason I decided to research and write about cinderella stories in sports is very simple, they
make sports fun and exciting. Everyone loves to root on the underdogs and see them win the "David
vs. Goliath" battle. There are so many different cinderella stories to choose from while they spread
throughout every sport. While researching, I found that although there have been thousands of them,
some cinderella stories get more publicity than others. Some stories get told more than others for
some reason, why is that? This essay will help us all understand that question a little better.
Cinderella stories are constantly arising and are one of the reasons sports are so enjoyable. It is
important to conduct this research because it needs to be brought to people's attention that sports are
more than just a game with a winner and a loser. Sports are stories that are told through action.
Sports introduce us to cinderella stories who make our experience that much more enjoyable.
Cinderella stories are a huge part of the athletic world and they deserve so much more attention. The
main point of this research is to provide people with a better understanding to who and what
cinderella stories truly are. Why they are considered cinderella stories and why their stories deserve
to be told. Keywords: Cinderella Story, Sports
Cinderella Stories in Sports and Why They Make Sports Great The sports world has always been

BEEP! BEEP! BEEP! BEEP! Bethany shot up from her bed and shut off the alarm on her phone
before laying back down for a quick five more minutes. It was early Friday morning and yet
Bethany didn't have school, she still had to wake up at 6:30 every morning and start her chores.
Bethany opened her eyes and looked around her room, which felt more like a dungeon to her. Pale
white walls, one small mirror, a beat up old dresser, and her bed so tiny it was barely big enough for
one, filled the room. She only had a few keepsakes, but her favorite was the framed photograph of
her and her father that was sitting on her dresser. Her mom had left when Bethany was only six
years old. Her dad then remarried to a very unpleasant woman and then passed away a few years
after. It has been eight years since he died. So now, Bethany was stuck with her "Evil Step Mother"
as she liked to call her, but her real name was Margaret. Not to mention her daughters Mary and
Anastasia, who were definitely a handful. They are the same age as Bethany, eighteen. Ever since
Bethany's dad died, Margaret claimed everything that was once his. Bethany was left with nothing
except that framed photo and this dusty cellar she called a room. "Bethany, where are you," cried

Literary Analysis Of When The Clock Strikes
When the Clock Strikes Throughout the years many stories have been passed down from generation
to generation. One of the stories that has evolved over the years is the fairy tale of Cinderella. It is
one of the most popular fairy tales to date because it has seen in over 700 versions and translated
into multiple languages. Tanith Lee, a prolific writer of stories for young adults, took the Cinderella
story, and reversed it with her tale When the Clock Strikes. In her tale, the Cinderella heroine
character is a witch. Lee is able to turn the magic and the rest of the tale into a dark revenge story.
Madonna Kolbenschlag, a literary scholar and feminist, wrote the article A Feminists View of
Cinderella. Karol Kelley, a feminist and professor of history at Texas Tech, also wrote an article,
Pretty Woman A Modern Cinderella, which shares some feminist views of the story. Both
Kolbenschlag and Kelley have viewpoints that would explain why Lees story is more or less
feminist. Both Kolbenschlags and Kelleys viewpoint on feminism would make Lees story ,When
the Clock Strikes, seem to be feminist because the main character Ashella is active, aggressive, and
powerful throughout the entire story, but since revenge is the main goal in Ashellas actions, they
would think this contradicts feminist ideas. Throughout Lees tale, Ashella and her mother are very
aggressive, unlike Cinderellas attitude in many other works. Kolbenschlag points out that a
character who holds the qualities of a

One can argue that Cinderella stories have become an essential folktales not only to young people
but as well as to older people. These stories have been recognized worldwide. Even more so, they
were retold by different people and have been translated to different languages. What is fascinating
about this is that different cultures have different interpretations of Cinderella stories and some do
not appear to be the same slightly. Moreover, this paper examines two different cultures, Yen– Shen
a Chinese Cinderella story and The Golden Sandal, a Middle Eastern Cinderella Story, and their
philosophies about these folktales by comparing and contrasting them. I will be exploring the
different versions of this story from different cultures including the American version. Cinderella
story is universal.
Yeh–Shen is based on the fairytale Cinderella, but takes place in China. The Chinese version story
of Yen Shen has a unique twist of cultural and traditional values that are implemented into the story.
Yeh–Shen characterized as a gorgeous orphan who lives with her wicked step–mother. Her step–

Yeh–Shen have is a fish that she caught in the fishpond. This fish symbolizes hope as it would give
her anything she desires. Sadly, the stepmother ends up killing and eating the fish after she
discovered the fish's secret and Yeh–Shen have no friend left.

Film Analysis Of Cinderella
Disney's 2015 live–action Cinderella was a magical experience from start to finish. From Cate
Blanchett's flawless portrayal of the cruel Lady Tremaine, Richard Madden's charming take on
Prince Kit, and Lily James' enchantingly lovable Cinderella, there is hardly a moment of despair
over the exceptional acting and heartfelt feelings. Every second of the film managed to draw one
further and further in, and it gave a breath of life to a movie based on a story dating back to the 1697
story Cendrillon. On top of enthralling acting was directing that stole the show by keeping the
movie focused while broadening the outlook. Sir Kenneth Branagh truly gave Cinderella a fresh
feeling and look which made it all the more enjoyable. He made the storyline move in a manner that
kept true to Disney's 1950 animated Cinderella, but at the same time, pushed it in a way that built a
more realistic outlook behind all the magic and gave it a depth which had been lacking in the 1950
version.
Interestingly, Cinderella is one story that can truly be marked a tale for the times with its roots
tracing back to Charles Perrault's Cendrillon from 1697. A great many of the elements one loves: the
pumpkin turning into a carriage, time counting down, the fairy godmother helping Cinderella,
etcetera, all find their origin relating back to Cendrillon. On the other hand, all these parts may go
back to Charles Perrault, but the real father of the beloved Cinderella would have to be Walt Disney,
as his 1950

Disney Princesses Changing Independence

  • 1. Cinderella, By Bruno Bettelheim Introduction Disney Princesses are known to be depending on their Prince Charming for happiness. As years pass by, Princesses today are more independent and don't need a Prince Charming in their lives. This idea affects children who feel inspired by these Fairy Tales. In the article, Cinderella, by Bruno Bettelheim, he states, "It gives the child confidence that the same will be true to him." This makes children think that they will have a similar life as them. Disney Princesses have changed overtime since the 1930s. In this essay, I will give examples of Disney Princesses and how they have changed from dependent to independent in the movie industry. Cinderella A young woman, named Cinderella lives with her wicked stepmother and two ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Belle is a confusing character and hard to tell whether she is independent or dependent before she was imprisoned. She lives with her father, but also does things on her own. She is in the middle of being dependent and independent. When Belle becomes a prisoner and lives with the Beast, she is considered dependent, since she isn't on her own. Disney is starting to change the dependent life of Princesses by making them independent. Moana An adventurous young teen, goes on a mission to find demigod Maui to help her save the people and their island. She was given a green stone by her grandmother to restore the heart of Te Fiti that Maui took. Throughout her journey, Moana fulfills the ancient quest of her ancestors and discovers her own identity. Moana is known to be an independent Disney Princess. She goes on a voyage on her own to find Maui. Disney wanted to make Princesses independent to show children that you don't need to be dependent to have a perfect life. In the article, A Modern Cinderella, by Karol Kelly, she says, "Feminism requires self–acceptance as well as tolerance, that is, the acceptance of others' dreams and decisions for themselves." She means that feminism doesn't have to be like a Cinderella story, where you have a Fairy Godmother and have a Prince Charming at the end. Moana is a different type of Princess that has big dreams, and doesn't require a Prince in her life. Disney Princesses Changing Since the 1930s, Princesses were more ... • 2. Cinderella Short Story You all know the story of Cinderella but do you know the story of Ella. There once was a girl who lived happily with her two stepsisters and stepmother. One day a letter came in the mail saying that they were invited to the prince's ball. Ella and her steps sisters celebrated but there mother was not pleased with the invention. Ella knew something was wrong and she was going to get to the bottom of this. That night her stepmother called her near the fireplace her sisters were sleeping, she said " Ella my deer you shall not go to the ball there is danger there that's awaits your arrival." Ella didn't understand what her stepmother was talking about she said " what danger awaits, of it's so bad why haven't you stopped me before." "Ella my deer you were too young to understand you still are trust me i'm doing this for your own safety." Ella runs upstairs and weeps in her bed until she has fallen asleep. The next morning she starts planning, she will go to the ball but without her step sisters and mother knowing. That night she starts crafting her dress. She had finished with a beautiful pink gown with bows and glitter, her plan was starting to go in action. On the night of the ball she came downstairs with the dress on. Her stepmother was in disbelief, her reaction was, to rip the dress into shreds. Ella's stepsisters try to stop her but they still didn't understand what was happening. They were too late Ella's dress was already ruined. Ella ran to her room and wonder why this ... • 3. A Cinderella Story : Power And Violence In 'Cinderella' A Cinderella Story. Dir. Mark Rosman. Perf. Hilary Duff and Chad Michael Murray. Warner Bros Pictures, 2004. Film. The main character, Sam has to live the rest of her life with her horrible stepmother and sisters once her dad passed away. She is forced to work a full time job as a student in highschool and is working harder than ever to get into the college of her dreams. However, the issue shows that Sam is forced to work for her evil stepmother and sisters. This is because she needs to make money to go away to school, while her stepmother and sisters live off the money that was left behind when Sam's (Cinderella) father had passed away. The main problem with this is Cinderella in this case is running obstacles to please everyone while she continues to get treated miserably. She is entitled to the money that was left behind and she is constantly being lied to. Her stepmother and sisters lie to her because they enjoy taking advantage of her and stealing her college money while they make her complete the dirty work. Alcantud–Díaz, María. ""The Sisters did Her Every Imaginable Injury": Power and Violence in Cinderella." International Journal of English Studies. Vol. 12, No. 2, 2012, pp. 59–71. Violence anywhere in the world causes potential harm that is often viewed by the human eye. Everyday, people are facing issues that are involving violent children from a learned behavior. • 4. Little Red Fish And The Golden Clog Cinderella Essay Cinderella stories have been around since the 1st century BC. Since then, many cultures have created their own versions of this well–known story which reflect the same morals as the story most children know today. One adage that has been around just as long as these stories is "this too will pass"; saying that everything in life is temporary. The common structure of a Cinderella story follows a girl who is beautiful, yet for some reason is undesirable. This original suffering by a stepmother or other character requires perseverance, but this eventually comes to an end when the heroine meets a prince, is forced her to leave the prince, but is eventually sought out by the prince to be married. The many versions of this story ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Both Sodewa Bai and The Little Red Fish and the Golden Clog have heroines that trust someone who's outside image didn't reflect who they actually were. In Sodewa Bai, the heroine confides in her husband's first wife her secret about her necklace which kept her alive. In Little Red Fish and the Golden Clog, this is the fisherman's daughter who thought that their neighbor would be a good stepmother for her. In both of these stories the person they trust isn't trusted by a person in the heroine's life. For the fisherman's daughter this is her father who doesn't trust the woman, while for the Sodewa Bai, it is her husband's parents who are wary of the intentions of the prince's first wife. Both of the people who are trusted by the heroine are the ones who end up causing her pain and suffering. This is an interesting way to have written the story because it gave the characters the perspective in which they suffered because of their choices and other people are not to blame. These myths explain that in life, hardships are tests and show that one must be responsible for their actions as well as maintain qualities like patience, humility, and hope through suffering and through ... • 5. Gender Expectations Of Women: The Cinderella Story Of... Open Book Final Exam "Gender is not just about women." When gender issues arise, it is often assumed that women are the central focus. However, gender affects not only women, but men as well. Botelho and Rudman allude to this idea when they make the point that like women, males are approached with similar gender expectations. Unfortunately, women have always made considerably less money than men. In 2005, a study revealed that women earned 78 cents to every dollar that men earned. While these numbers are shocking, men have to endure extreme gender expectations. If a man accepts a position as a nurse or a teacher, he is not taken as seriously as a woman who has obtained the same position. Gender issues exist in children's literature. For example, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Since everyday texts and children's literature both contain views and ideas, exposing students to both types of text will make the critical multicultural analysis process easier. I recently experienced the benefits of juxtaposing texts. I found that once I compared multiple children's book to other types of literature I was able to consider other possibilities and hidden ideas in the text. From this experience, I understand firsthand why students should be taught not to rely on just one text or one author. Students need to be taught that they will not be able to gain a full understanding of the text without first examining multiple texts and other sources. The practice of multimodalities is described as a method of reconstructing the text using different systems such as; visual arts, digital technologies, and writing. My experience with using multimodalities was a positive one. At first, I was unsure of the purpose or benefits of using multimodalities, but once I completed a digital hierarchy for the Cinderella project I quickly realized that reconstructing the text while using the graphic organizer ultimately helped me to organize the findings from the critical multicultural analysis. I think that multimodalities are beneficial in the classroom and will ultimately expand the critical multicultural analysis ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 6. Cinderella Story Analysis Since its first telling, the story of Cinderella has been captivating audiences of children and adults alike. From the story's first telling in 9th century China to the Walt Disney adaptation, many versions of this rags to riches story have been shared and enjoyed. However, as time has passed, parent's perception of the story has changed. In this modern era, many parents have problems with keys parts of a majority of Cinderella stories. This puts them at odds with parents who see no problem with the stories contents. The parents unhappy with the contents of the tale often find problems with the way in which the stepmother is presented. For example, in "The Wicked Stepmother" a story from India it says of the stepmother "She at ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... "The stepmother didn't like Yeh– Shen for she was more beautiful and kinder than her own daughter so she treated her poorly" (Behrens et al.612). It also continues the trend of the stepfamily being inherently evil. In "The Rough–Faced Girl" the sisters go so far as to burn her to the point it ruins her appearance (Behrens et al. 574). Unconcerned parents have a different perspective on these events however. For them it is not about ugly vs pretty. It is about good vs evil. The stepsister is often a wealthy and spoiled girl. Her main focuses are trivial and self–centered. Most of her dialogue resolves around what she plans to wear. For example, "'For my part," said the eldest, "I will wear my red velvet suit with French trimming"' (Perrault 548). By putting her up against Cinderella it shows her jealous nature and further affirms her poor character. It gives her something to envy in Cinderella. Her unappealing outward appearance is also a reflection of the ugliness inside her soul. Just as Cinderella's beautiful heart shines out in her lovely looks so does the sister's ugly heart show through hers. One of the greatest concerns for worried parents is found in Cinderella herself. Many parents trying to raise girls who grow up to be hard working and strong women find issue with Cinderella's personality. She reacts to the step mother's treatment with a level of passiveness and in the end she achieves her dreams by chance or through the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 7. Prolouge Is The Story Of Cinderella Prolouge Once upon a time... Wait a minute, no, this is not your cliche fairy tale. It doesn't have a princess and a dashing prince who fall for each other after overcoming some stupid obstacle like a poison apple or sleeping curse. I've read those stories, but it's all the same, everyone gets a happy ending except for the villain. That's going to change right now because this is my story, and my fairy tale certainly doesn't end with everyone getting their happy ending. This is the story of Cinderella. Still out of breath, gasping to try to say something to explain myself, the only words I could find were, "Prince Charming, lovely to make your acquaintance." I always found Prince Charming such a terrible name because if anything he was the opposite of charming. He is so fake and misleading, he acts like this brave hero when really he is just a spoiled prince who sits up in his castle and pretends to care about his people. "Milady," he bows his head slightly as if to say 'how do you do?', "May I ask why you were riding so fast away from the palace?" Rhetorical question, he knew why I rode so fast but if he wanted to play games I guess I could play along. "When I ride fast I feel more free, and isn't that what everyone wants, to feel free?" I said, it was partly true, all I wanted was to feel like I was riding fast forever. "Possibly, but then can you explain the goods you stole from my kingdom?" He said, still using that proper voice he uses with all his people. I knew he thought I was guilty before this whole conversation, there's no point in playing games when he thinks he's already won. • 8. Short Story : Cinderella And Cinderella Once upon a time, there was a big–hearted girl named Cinder, who lived in a kingdom of hope and magical powers which will heal their dilemma. A place where the king and queen still ruled the kingdom in the 21st century. The king and queen were really nice at heart, but they died in a ship crash one month ago, which is why the prince had to take over the kingdom. Just like the prince, Cinder was also heartbroken because her mom died in the same crash while serving the queen on the ship. After six months of mourning, the prince finally thinks about his father's wish for him to get married as soon as the prince takes over the kingdom. While the prince was busy servicing the kingdom, things were different for Cinder. Cinder's father got her a stepmother and two stepsisters. They made cinder's life very unpleasant, moreover, Cinder had to work for them so that she could get the money for households and other things. She was the only person to bring an income to her house because her dad died on the trip to Europe. Cinder works hard day and night to please her stepmother and stepsisters but each day they use her to get their work done. The prince and Cinder never met each other before because they were children and when they grew up they had their own responsibility to take care of. • 9. Cinderella Story Essay The Curfew of the Cinderella Story The Cinderella concept is one that is already outdated, and certainly not timeless. Much of the concept originated from cultural aspects of the time period in which each Cinderella story was created. Certain aspects of the concept would need to be changed to make it more appropriate for modern day. Oftentimes, the Cinderella concept emphasizes her good looks. Perrault's Cinderella explicitly mentions that Cinderella is "a hundred times more beautiful than her sisters" (Perrault). The Prince in the story falls in love with her before even knowing her true identity, and "love at first sight" is a present theme in almost every retelling of the Cinderella story. This implies that the only reason Cinderella ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... While there is an argument that Cinderella contains a message that teaches the value of kindness, the other aspects of Cinderella's character defeat the purpose of this. Her character is ultimately one that is passive, and takes no action to control her own fate. She has no ambition other than to go to a dance, and marry into wealth and status. She does not even do these things herself: she continues to mindlessly endure constant torment and abuse until a fairy godmother–like character appears and uses magic to give Cinderella what she wants. In Grimm's version, Cinderella continues to pick dishes of lentils out of ashes until she is helped (Grimm). The true passivity and weakness of Cinderella's character is an outdated message for young girls. Strong female characters are becoming more and more of a necessity in media. It is much more common today to see heroine characters instead of martyrs like Cinderella. The Cinderella concept's focus on love is also outdated, and could even be damaging for young people today. Elaina Chastain, writer for literary magazine The Artifice describes this issue: "There is, additionally, the belief that love is superior to both independence and education. Today, being independent and educated are things that more and more women are focused on," (Chastain). Cinderella is never shown to even consider her own independence or education. ... • 10. The Cinderella Story : The Story Of Cinderella's Story Work, Work and Work. This was Cinderella's life, and it was all because of my mother. You may think you know how Cinderella's story went but it's not true I am not just one of the evil stepsister. This is what really happened. Mother treated cinderella terribly and I hate it. I want to be kind to her because she is kind to us even with the way we treat her. We got a letter in the mail that had a red castle stamp on the back which meant it was from the royal family. It read, " All members of this household are invited to join us at the royal ball where the prince will pick one mayden to dance with." I was thrilled because Cinderella would actually be able to go out for a night... But of course my mother had to come in the way. " You cannot go unless you sweep the floors, wash the dishes, clean the barn, dust the shoes, tidy our rooms and groom the horses" She gave her so much work that it would be nearly impossible for cinderella to attend the ball. Cinderella knew if she even wanted a chance at going to the ball that she would have to get to work. While Cinderella did her chores my mother, sister, and I started to get ready for the ball we did everything from hair to makeup and mother walked into my room with a beautiful Emerald velvet gown with shimmery crystals lining the bottom. When I tried it on it looked almost as Whimsical as the clouds. as time went by we were astonished to hear Cinderella working in the sewing room. we walked over to the room only to see the sight of Cinderella and a beautiful gown it was once her mother's. my mother said " you cannot go to the ball the chores can not possibly be done" " they are, all of them" my mother stepped closer and started to tear the dress and rip off pieces my sister did as well... And so did I. rip... Rip one piece after another until the dress was nothing but shreds of fabric. once we left Cinderella was in tears I felt terrible, but I knew if I didn't follow along mother would scold me after. I was sitting on my bed Staring at the wooden clock hanging above my dresser just waiting for time to pass so that I could get out of the house to try to get my mind off of what had happened. • 11. Stereotypes In A Cinderella Story I argue that the movie, A Cinderella Story shows one of the kinds of stereotypes that many black women face in using the mammy figure that Melissa Harris–Perry discussed broadly in her book. A Cinderella story does this by having a black woman character named Rhonda who acts as the caretaker and worker under the main character, who is a wealthy white woman. Ultimately, A Cinderella Story creates this mammy figure by having Rhonda work underneath a rich white woman and her three daughters. Melissa Harris–Perry says, "Unlike the bad black woman who was aggressively sexual, Mammy had no personal needs or desires. This can be a very difficult task because with fairytales we never really know where the original came from. I will base my paper on the theory that the original tale of Cinderella comes from the Grimm Brothers version of Ashputtle. In comparison we will examine two movies. First there is the Disney version Cinderella. Secondly we will look at the movie 'Ever After'. Characterization is an important aspect of any story or film, because it sets what the entire film will be about, and how the audience will absorb it. In the story of "Ashputtle". The characters include Ashputtle = Cinderella, The Stepmother, and the stepdaughters, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Cinderella in this film is portrayed as a sweet and innocent child who years to be loved after her father passes on leaving her in the care of a very evil stepmother. The character of the prince was very different then in the first film. In the other film we find that the prince has feelings and emotions, whereas in this film, he is portrayed as a very dedicated man who falls in love and becomes obsessed. The odd thing about his character is that he is not seen very much in the film, it focuses more on Cinderella, and her family and her attempts to go to the "ball". Also it focuses on the fact that the king is forcing his son to marry. Viewpoint affects many different aspects of a story and film. When we look at the story we read it from the viewpoint of ?Ashputtle?. This viewpoint in the story is Omniscient Narrator = which is "an objective, non–participating all–seeing mind". In the story version the author plays the role of narrator, as he is the one telling the story. In the first film "Ever After" the point of view is told from the first person point of view. First person = describes a character who participates in the events of the story and tells it in an subjective fashion. We see examples of this when we view the film, because when the characters that portray the "Grimm Brothers" come to the palace and then the great, great, great granddaughter of the real "Cinderella" tells the story. • 17. Moral Story Of Cinderella Many times, people dream of being the protagonists of a Disney movie and thus live in a fantasy world where they are happy forever. It is easy to create the illusion that in the world of princesses everything is perfect and beautiful. In fact, behind these stories hides a reproduction of the purest and harsh truth of the real life in which we live, where events they are not isolated, and they all have a direct impact on people's lives and change them either positively or negatively. So, are these fairy tales true stories of happiness? The film Cinderella tells the story of a lovely girl with a very pure heart who had everything in life. She was pleased, had a beautiful family, a house, and goods, and most importantly, much love. Although her family possessed some riches, she was raised in an environment of kindness, kindness, compassion, and love for the animals she considered her friends, especially the little mice. When his mother dies, her father marries a "kind" woman with two daughters and a cat, or at least that was what he thought about his new wife, whom Cinderella warmly receives at home. Cinderella's stepmother pretended all along to be an adorable housewife capable not only of being a good mother to her own daughters but to the daughter of her husband. Everything changes the day Cinderella's father passed away. From that moment, the girl begins to be a victim of abuse, mistreatment, and humiliations of her evil stepmother and her spoiled and jealous stepsisters. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

So, Cinderella got to work on the chores, making dinner for my mother and me and my sister. We saved some for Cinderella while she was cleaning up she was eating the food that she made. • 24. Archetypes In Cinderella Stories Many people wonder where all the Cinderella stories originated from? They originated from the most popular version written in French by Charles Perrault written in 1607. The Little Golden book, the Grimm brothers version and the 2015 Disney Film version of Cinderella are all taken from the original story. All Cinderella stories have the same storyline, but there are differences and similarities between the archetypes and the characters and in the theme in the three versions. There are lots of archetypes seen throughout all three versions. An archetype that is shown is circles, which means wholeness and unity. An example of circles from The Little Golden Book is "A pumpkin rose up and swelled into an elegant coach"(6). This shows that Cinderella's life is becoming complete because the coach takes her the ball, which is where she meets the price she marries. Another example of circles is the sunrise in the morning this is shown in the Grimms version "There she had to do hard work from morning until evening ...." ( paragraph 6). This shows wholeness in the morning when the sunrises being the sun is becoming whole and its a circle. Likewise in the Little Golden Book, the Fairy Godmother turned the pumpkin into an elegant coach that she road to the ball as projected in the 2015 Disney movie. This shows that her life is coming complete because she has found her destiny which is the price she meets at the ball. The theme is all three versions are similar but also have their own ... The texts are all written in a pretty traditional format and a comprehensive narrative style. All of the versions of the story of Cinderella are clear texts that have a predetermined plot line and the author has made it clear to the reader what emotions they should feel through the whole reading of the story. In Perrault's story, when Cinderella stepsister says "That is very true, people would laugh to see a cinder–slut in the ballroom. Anyone else but Cinderella would have done their hair amiss, but she was good–natured, and she finished them off to perfection" (Perrault, 68). The reader feels bad for Cinderella because her stepsisters call her a terrible name, yet she remains good–natured and completes her task without complaint, which makes the reader wonder if Cinderella is a saint. Cinderella's behavior could also be considered another example of the conservative beliefs concerning the proper role of a female appearing in this story. The text repeatedly provides readers with what they want. For example, in the Grimm Brothers Ashputtle "the king's son looked into Ashputtle's face, he recognized the beautiful girl he had danced with and cried out: 'This is my true bride!' The stepmother and the two sisters went pale with fear and rage. However, he lifted Ashputtle up on his horse and rode away with her" (Hallett, 51). In the Grimm's brother version, the stepsisters have their eyes gouged out by birds after the wedding, which could arguably be yet another example of giving the reader what he or she wants because in many cases the reader would like to see bad fortune happen to the evil stepsisters since they had treated their sister badly. A final conservative element of the Cinderella stories is their adult–centered nature. The most striking ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

That one blissful day all young girls dream of, standing at the altar in a beautiful white dress, gazing into the dreamy eyes of her beloved and promising to be wed till "Death do them part." Reality soon sets in after that. Her Prince Charming is a real man! His feet stink, and he throws his dirty laundry on the floor. Was it not meant to be? How does Cinderella handle it? I talked with a young woman in my church that is still relatively a newlywed. Mrs. Jewel Ward was raised in church, has been married for a little over 2 years and is expecting their first child. She is the only young woman in our church who is married and I was interested to see how she dealt with "reality" once the honeymoon phase was over. Would marriage be full of struggles like the world likes to tell us, or would having a solid foundation in God strengthen the bond? Every girl plans out their life to some extent or another, and Mrs. Ward was no exception. Sitting in school, she thought of the future. "I want to get married halfway through college and be able to announce my first pregnancy on my graduation day." she decided. Check, and check! Her life is coming together the way she hoped. One thing though that she planned on did not come to pass; before her wedding day, she was preparing herself for the inevitable struggles that would come along with the wedded bliss. Authors Anthony L. Manna and Soula Mitakidou, and illustrator Giselle Potter who used watercolor media, took both retellings to create the picturebook The Orphan: A Cinderella Story From Greece. In the Author's note, Manna and Mitakidou disclose how their tale is mostly based on their translation of the orphan's tale that can be found in Chatzitaki–Kapsomenou's The Modern Greek Folktale, where Manna and Mitakidou also got their title. The two authors also took inspiration from their translation of Loukato's version of the tale in Modern Greek Folk Texts. They take references such as, religious themes, and the use of honey as a vital plot device. Manna and Mitakidou also decided to change one very universal part of most Cinderella stories. Instead of making their Cinderella, the orphan, be the submissive character, the authors decided to have the orphan be her own heroine and go after her prince. Deciding her own faith, rather than just waiting in ashes or a dark corner for her prince to come and save her. Manna and Miakidou's orphan is a young, self–determined women who takes her destiny into her own hands. The story begins like any other Cinderella story with a family of three. Do this, do that, you lazy heap of dirt" (2). Coming from the first passage of Emma Donoghue's Kissing the Witch sets a revision of popular fairy tales whereas internal voices, seen as personal experience, and their comparison to external voices, seen as societal expectations, create places where these stories change. This shift can be seen as a move away from the original well known story or aspects of that particular story, while also representing a change in the narrator of the story itself. The passage above for instance occurs when a cinderella type character is introduced to the reader. These internal voices are normally associated with the external voices of the evil stepmother and stepdaughters, which is associated widely with a common thread within the cinderella story itself. This revision flips what is normally seen as an external voice and internalizes it. A few pages later we see the girl and her interaction with the prince after he proposes marriage. "The voices were shrieking, Yes yes yes say yes before you lose your chance you bag of nothingness. I opened my teeth but no sound came out" (7). While the passage above set up the idea of internal voices, this passage shows how this internalized external voice is not the voice of the cinderella type narrator. • 33. Cinderella Short Story A Twist on Happily Ever After Key elements from original story Key elements from modern culture It was a typical Friday night for Cinderella; dusting pictures, scrubbing the floor, and doing laundry. What else did she expect to do on a Friday night? Nothing at all. Her step mother always had her do chores making it impossible for her to have a social life. She got out of the house once a week on Monday morning, and that was only to get groceries at the store. Cinderella was always on a schedule that her stepmother set. Cinderella had to clean up after her two evil step sisters. All Cinderella wanted was one best friend that she knew she could always count on. On that same Friday night under the sea, Ariel was sitting in her room just dreaming of the life on land she would love to live. She dreamed of having a beautiful house surrounded by trees and gorgeous flowers. Ariel wondered how many friends she would have on land, she always admired those that lived on the ground. • 35. The Not So Cinderella Story BEEP! BEEP! BEEP! BEEP! Bethany shot up from her bed and shut off the alarm on her phone before laying back down for a quick five more minutes. It was early Friday morning and yet Bethany didn't have school, she still had to wake up at 6:30 every morning and start her chores. Bethany opened her eyes and looked around her room, which felt more like a dungeon to her. Pale white walls, one small mirror, a beat up old dresser, and her bed so tiny it was barely big enough for one, filled the room. She only had a few keepsakes, but her favorite was the framed photograph of her and her father that was sitting on her dresser. Her mom had left when Bethany was only six years old. Her dad then remarried to a very unpleasant woman and then passed away a few years after. It has been eight years since he died. So now, Bethany was stuck with her "Evil Step Mother" as she liked to call her, but her real name was Margaret. Not to mention her daughters Mary and Anastasia, who were definitely a handful. They are the same age as Bethany, eighteen. Ever since Bethany's dad died, Margaret claimed everything that was once his. Bethany was left with nothing except that framed photo and this dusty cellar she called a room. "Bethany, where are you," cried out her mother angrily. "Coming mother," replied Bethany. Bethany jumped out of her bed and threw on ugly ripped jeans, a stained, faded blue sweatshirt, and threw her long, beautiful black hair into a pony tail. These wrecked old clothes were ... Even the flowers cried with loss as the beautiful queen was lay down in her final resting place, under the silver willow. The castle was thrown into chaos. The King retired to his bedchamber where he was trapped in mourning of losing the love of his life. The once beautiful castle grew ivy, weeds, and dirty with grime. The halls were a haven for woodland creatures. Julian saw a mouse skitter by. "Have no fear," The mouse said as Julian looked quite sadly at the teeny invader. "Oh little mouse! I am not afraid. My dear mother passed away and my father is mourning and forgot how to be the king," Tears pooled in Julian's beautiful ice blue eyes. "Prince," The mouse said. "Your life will change drastically in the next few months. Since you were so good to me, sever my head and bury my body under the Silver Birch tree. If you do so, whenever you need something, just sing. Your wishes will be granted." The prince protested and tried to convince the mouse not to give him this wonderful but terrible gift. • 37. Literary Analysis Of When The Clock Strikes When the Clock Strikes Throughout the years many stories have been passed down from generation to generation. One of the stories that has evolved over the years is the fairy tale of Cinderella. It is one of the most popular fairy tales to date because it has seen in over 700 versions and translated into multiple languages. Tanith Lee, a prolific writer of stories for young adults, took the Cinderella story, and reversed it with her tale When the Clock Strikes. In her tale, the Cinderella heroine character is a witch. Lee is able to turn the magic and the rest of the tale into a dark revenge story. Madonna Kolbenschlag, a literary scholar and feminist, wrote the article A Feminists View of Cinderella. Karol Kelley, a feminist and professor of history at Texas Tech, also wrote an article, Pretty Woman A Modern Cinderella, which shares some feminist views of the story. Both Kolbenschlag and Kelley have viewpoints that would explain why Lees story is more or less feminist. Both Kolbenschlags and Kelleys viewpoint on feminism would make Lees story ,When the Clock Strikes, seem to be feminist because the main character Ashella is active, aggressive, and powerful throughout the entire story, but since revenge is the main goal in Ashellas actions, they would think this contradicts feminist ideas. Throughout Lees tale, Ashella and her mother are very aggressive, unlike Cinderellas attitude in many other works. Kolbenschlag points out that a character who holds the qualities of a ... • 39. Film Analysis Of Cinderella Disney's 2015 live–action Cinderella was a magical experience from start to finish. From Cate Blanchett's flawless portrayal of the cruel Lady Tremaine, Richard Madden's charming take on Prince Kit, and Lily James' enchantingly lovable Cinderella, there is hardly a moment of despair over the exceptional acting and heartfelt feelings. Every second of the film managed to draw one further and further in, and it gave a breath of life to a movie based on a story dating back to the 1697 story Cendrillon. On top of enthralling acting was directing that stole the show by keeping the movie focused while broadening the outlook. Sir Kenneth Branagh truly gave Cinderella a fresh feeling and look which made it all the more enjoyable. He made the storyline move in a manner that kept true to Disney's 1950 animated Cinderella, but at the same time, pushed it in a way that built a more realistic outlook behind all the magic and gave it a depth which had been lacking in the 1950 version. Interestingly, Cinderella is one story that can truly be marked a tale for the times with its roots tracing back to Charles Perrault's Cendrillon from 1697. A great many of the elements one loves: the pumpkin turning into a carriage, time counting down, the fairy godmother helping Cinderella, etcetera, all find their origin relating back to Cendrillon. On the other hand, all these parts may go back to Charles Perrault, but the real father of the beloved Cinderella would have to be Walt Disney, as his 1950 ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
