• Lab 10: Regulating Your Motivation This week in lecture we discussed how you can apply the SRL cycle to regulate your motivation. The purpose of this lab is to give you the opportunity to assess your academic motivation then work through the process of regulating your motivation.
• There are 5 activities in today’s lab. The weekly PPT where you set goals for the upcoming week and reflect on how things went last week Revisiting the reading and notetaking strategies you have been using over the last two weeks. Let others in the class know what you did and what worked for you and find out what others found Two activities for taking control of your motivation (including self-assessing your academic motivation and making plans to strategically regulate it) The individual planning for collab challenge 2 Your expertise area cheat sheet.
• Today ’s lab starts with the Lab 10 PPT. Weekly PPTs guide you in engaging in the self-regulated learning cycle by thinking about how things went last week, what you would like to accomplish this week. In order to be useful for you, your PPTs need to be thoughtful/reflective, you need to be setting TASC goals, you should be paying attention to the challenges you are encountering each week. Are they the same ones? Why? What can you do to break this cycle. Overall, PPTs should take you about 10-15 Mins. Start the PPT… When you are finished click 'submit all and finish ’ You can also save your work by clicking “save without submitting” and return to it at any time.
• Class discussion about Reading strategies and Notetaking strategies you tried What worked and WHY? What didn't work? What still poses challenges for you? What are good evaluation questions for assessing if a reading or noteking strategies works? Let others know and then revisit later in the week to see what everyone else said. You won’t be able to view others’ responses until you submit your own.
• Regulate Your Motivation Complete the Regulate your Motivation Activity. This lab activity guides you through the phases of regulating your motivation by helping you to… Assess your motivation for a task by completing the Motivation Assessment Questionnaire (phase 1). When you are finished, upload the excel spreadsheet to your Lab Activity Drop Box. Set goals for changing your motivation (phase 2) & choose strategies (phase 3) for regulating motivation
• Individual Planning Tool for Collaborative Challenge 2 Complete the PCPT: Individual Planning Tool. This is due Friday November 18th at 4pm.
• Last week you posted to a forum about your area of expertise & this week you will create a cheat sheet for the Collaborative Challenge (Nov 21/22). This is due Friday, November 18th at 4pm. Review the other answers posted. Create your cheat sheet - one side of an 8.5x11 sheet of paper; format & font size are up to you. Upload it to your Lab Activity Drop Box .
