PROJECT 1 SCHEDULE: Week 1
Interpersonal Communication
The following schedule describes the steps you will need to do in order to compose
deliverables and the estimated time it will take most students to complete each step.
Estimated time you will need to complete this project: 12 hours.
Steps Do the Following Time
1 Skim the steps in this schedule, so you can plan how to manage your
time this week.
NOTE: if you have not already done so, read the syllabus.
Complete class “Orientation” by completing everything in the “Start
Course Here” tab.
Read Handouts:
• Project 1 Assignment Sheet
Read and listen to an example of the correspondence package and a
presentation speaking style podcast.
Send your instructor an email with any questions you have about this
Unit and its work (katiek@uidaho.edu).
1 hour
2 Go through the following lecture slidedocs once to familiarize yourself
with the content. You will work more closely with these in step 3.
1. Interpersonal Skills and Business Writing
2. Business Writing Genres: Formatting and Document Design
Find a negative product review on Amazon. Read it thoroughly. Pay
specific attention to what the customer is upset about and the tone
they are using.
Product Review Annotation due Tuesday, June 15th at 11:59pm.

Steps Do the Following Time
3 Start drafting your business correspondence package! Follow the
directions in the assignment sheet, slidedoc 1, and slidedoc 2 for
information on how to right each piece.
TIP: Don’t worry about being perfect during this draft. You will
revise your work based on the grading criteria and rubric.
Once your drafts are done, consult the “Grading Criteria and
Wholistic Grading Rubric”. Identify areas you can improve on and
make those revisions. If you are unsure what to revise or don’t
know how to revise it, send your instructor an email
(katiek@uidaho.edu).

4 Study slidedoc 3: How to Create the Audio-Only Podcast. Next,
review the Presentation Speaking Style Handouts. Decide how
you will create your audio-only podcast.
Do a test recording. If you encounter a technical issue, follow the
troubleshooting steps below the options.
1 hour
5 Follow the requirements and guidelines in the assignment sheet
and slidedoc 3, to decide what presentation speaking styles you
will discuss and the exercises you will include.
Write the script. Practice your script and record the podcast.
Don’t try to be perfect when recording.
2 hours
PROJECT 1 DELIVERABLES DUE: Sunday 6/20 before 11:59 PM.
Submit your work to the project 1 drop box as follows:
1. Deliverable 1: Business Correspondence Package, submit a Word or PDF file. Separate
each genre with a page break.
2. Deliverable 2: Podcast, cut and paste the URL at the top of your self-evaluation or in the
comment section of the drop box.
3. To avoid a point penalty, verify your submission.

ENGL 313: Summer 2021 Session II Page 1 of 2 PROJECT 1 SCHEDULE: Week 1 Interpersonal Communication The following schedule describes the steps you will need to do in order to compose deliverables and the estimated time it will take most students to complete each step. Estimated time you will need to complete this project: 12 hours. Steps Do the Following Time 1 Skim the steps in this schedule, so you can plan how to manage your time this week. NOTE: if you have not already done so, read the syllabus. Complete class “Orientation” by completing everything in the “Start Course Here” tab. Read Handouts: • Project 1 Assignment Sheet Read and listen to an example of the correspondence package and a presentation speaking style podcast. Send your instructor an email with any questions you have about this Unit and its work (katiek@uidaho.edu). 1 hour 2 Go through the following lecture slidedocs once to familiarize yourself with the content. You will work more closely with these in step 3. 1. Interpersonal Skills and Business Writing 2. Business Writing Genres: Formatting and Document Design Find a negative product review on Amazon. Read it thoroughly. Pay specific attention to what the customer is upset about and the tone they are using. Product Review Annotation due Tuesday, June 15th at 11:59pm. 2 hours
  • 2. ENGL 313: Summer 2021 Session II Page 2 of 2 Steps Do the Following Time 3 Start drafting your business correspondence package! Follow the directions in the assignment sheet, slidedoc 1, and slidedoc 2 for information on how to right each piece. TIP: Don’t worry about being perfect during this draft. You will revise your work based on the grading criteria and rubric. Once your drafts are done, consult the “Grading Criteria and Wholistic Grading Rubric”. Identify areas you can improve on and make those revisions. If you are unsure what to revise or don’t know how to revise it, send your instructor an email (katiek@uidaho.edu). 6 hours 4 Study slidedoc 3: How to Create the Audio-Only Podcast. Next, review the Presentation Speaking Style Handouts. Decide how you will create your audio-only podcast. Do a test recording. If you encounter a technical issue, follow the troubleshooting steps below the options. 1 hour 5 Follow the requirements and guidelines in the assignment sheet and slidedoc 3, to decide what presentation speaking styles you will discuss and the exercises you will include. Write the script. Practice your script and record the podcast. Don’t try to be perfect when recording. 2 hours PROJECT 1 DELIVERABLES DUE: Sunday 6/20 before 11:59 PM. Submit your work to the project 1 drop box as follows: 1. Deliverable 1: Business Correspondence Package, submit a Word or PDF file. Separate each genre with a page break. 2. Deliverable 2: Podcast, cut and paste the URL at the top of your self-evaluation or in the comment section of the drop box. 3. To avoid a point penalty, verify your submission.
