Mahatma was a lawyer and then a politician.
As a child he was afraid of the dark.
He got married when he was 13 with Kasturbai Makanji.
He spent most of the time fighting for independence in
India.
3. South Africa
His mother influenced most of his actions. Examples: respect to life(animals,
people, plants, etc.), vegetarianism and tolerance to different ways of thinking.
At the age of 18 he went to London to study. When he became a lawyer he moved
back to Mumbai, India. He couldn’t find a job so he moved to South Africa. In
South Africa most of the Indians were rejected. After 22 years of non violent
protests he won the sufficient respect and power as to gain an end to Indian
conflict.
4. Back to India
In 1915 he returned to India where he continued transmitting his religious values
and political peaceful ideas.
He participated in the vindication of the independence of India from the British
Empire in the context of World War II. His participation in this protest and the non
violent fights finally guided it to India’s independence from britain. Formally
declared at 1947.
5. DEATH
He was killed by Nathuram Godse because he didn’t want Mahatma to get over
him with his ideas. For Nathuram, Gandhi was an obstacle.
