īļ It is dawned as the beginning of the Digital Age- a time of
unprecedented growth in technology and its subsequent
information explosion.
WHY DO WE NEED TO CREATE A
21ST CENTURY EDUCATIONAL
SYSTEM?
īļ It is about making sure that all students are prepared
to succeed in a competitive world. It's about maximizing
the impact of technology to develop proficiency in 21st
century skills, support innovative teaching and learning,
and create robust educational support systems.
THINGS TO CONSIDER WHEN
DECIDING HOW EDUCATION
WILL LOOK IN SCHOOLS AND
CLASSROOMS.
1. Instruction should be student-
centered
2. Education should be
collaborative
3. Learning should have context
INSTRUCTION SHOULD BE
STUDENT-CENTERED
īļ The students would gather information on their
own, under the guidance of their teacher.
īļ Students will need to connect the new information
with the knowledge they already have and apply it to
solving the problem at hand.
īļ The teacher would act as a facilitator for the
students.
īļ Learning is about discovery, not the memorization
of facts.
EDUCATION SHOULD BE
COLLABORATIVE
īļ Students must learn how to
collaborate with others.
īļ Students should be encouraged to
work together to discover information,
place it together and construct meaning.
īļ Collaboration needs to be dynamic.
LEARNING SHOULD
HAVE CONTEXT
īļ The teacher help students to understand
how the skills they are building can be
applied in their lives.
īļ Students are much more motivated to
learn something that they see value in.
īļ Lessons have little purpose if they do not
have any impact in a student's life outside of
school.
WHAT IS TECHNOLOGY?
īļ Technology is a tool, a way for fact-based
learning and allows students to do a lot of
the research using the Internet and various
tools.
īļ Students are learning very valuable
research skills, which they can transplant at
high levels of education, at universities and
beyond.

TECHNOLOGY IN 21ST
CENTURY LEARNING:
1. Technology allows for 24/7
access to information
2. Constant social interaction, and
3. Easily created and shared
digital content.
IN THIS SETTING..
īļ Learners learn in a global classroom, acknowledging that
the classroom extends beyond the physical walls.
īļ Students rather use gadgets and social networking sites to
find information.
īļ in this case, we need to use this to our advantage and use it
in our teaching.

  • 2. WHAT IS THE 21ST CENTURY? īļ It is dawned as the beginning of the Digital Age- a time of unprecedented growth in technology and its subsequent information explosion.
  • 3. WHY DO WE NEED TO CREATE A 21ST CENTURY EDUCATIONAL SYSTEM? īļ It is about making sure that all students are prepared to succeed in a competitive world. It's about maximizing the impact of technology to develop proficiency in 21st century skills, support innovative teaching and learning, and create robust educational support systems.
  • 4. THINGS TO CONSIDER WHEN DECIDING HOW EDUCATION WILL LOOK IN SCHOOLS AND CLASSROOMS. 1. Instruction should be student- centered 2. Education should be collaborative 3. Learning should have context

INSTRUCTION SHOULD BE STUDENT-CENTERED īļ The students would gather information on their own, under the guidance of their teacher. īļ Students will need to connect the new information with the knowledge they already have and apply it to solving the problem at hand. īļ The teacher would act as a facilitator for the students. īļ Learning is about discovery, not the memorization of facts.
  • 6. EDUCATION SHOULD BE COLLABORATIVE īļ Students must learn how to collaborate with others. īļ Students should be encouraged to work together to discover information, place it together and construct meaning. īļ Collaboration needs to be dynamic.
  • 7. LEARNING SHOULD HAVE CONTEXT īļ The teacher help students to understand how the skills they are building can be applied in their lives. īļ Students are much more motivated to learn something that they see value in. īļ Lessons have little purpose if they do not have any impact in a student's life outside of school.

WHAT IS TECHNOLOGY? īļ Technology is a tool, a way for fact-based learning and allows students to do a lot of the research using the Internet and various tools. īļ Students are learning very valuable research skills, which they can transplant at high levels of education, at universities and beyond.
  • 9. THE ROLE OF TECHNOLOGY IN 21ST CENTURY LEARNING: 1. Technology allows for 24/7 access to information 2. Constant social interaction, and 3. Easily created and shared digital content.
  • 10. IN THIS SETTING.. īļ Learners learn in a global classroom, acknowledging that the classroom extends beyond the physical walls. īļ Students rather use gadgets and social networking sites to find information. īļ in this case, we need to use this to our advantage and use it in our teaching.

DEVELOPMENT OF TEACHING-LEARNING MATERIALS īļ Teaching-learning materials are important in the teaching-learning process. īļ They need to be in accordance with the environment of the learners. īļ Only the right type of materials will be able to modify the behavior of the learner suitably making him a fit person for the society.

TEACHING-LEARNING STRATEGIES īļ A strategy plays an important role for teachers when they teach. īļ Strategies need to be according to the materials and is able to bring effective learning. īļ Different strategies are being evolved by educational technology. īļ Teachers must know these strategies.

DEVELOPMENT OF AUDIO-VISUAL AIDS īļ Audio-visual aids play an important role in the teaching- learning process. īļ Software & hardware aids, computers and other appliances/equipment have to be used in the present type of teaching-learning process. īļ Computer assisted instructions will help the learner as well as the teacher to achieve the goals of education more conveniently.
