Biography
In getting to know Marcia, you’ll quickly identify that her paramount passions lie in cultivating
meaningful relationships and helping others realize their potential. Throughout her life, she has
taken positions of leadership to advise, consult, train and empower others. She is a well-
rounded individual as a result of her diverse professional experience, academic history and her
extensive domestic and international travel for work and personal growth.
Professionally, she is currently an advisor to prospective students at Walden University. She
serves on the board of Walden’s A-Team, an internal think-tank and beta-testing group that
reviews new policies, procedures, and technology for efficiency. Prior to Walden, Marcia was
Senior PM to the entrepreneurial owner of a boutique, design-build firm in Southern California.
She successfully managed several complex residential and commercial projects simultaneously.
After graduation from UC Santa Cruz she went to work for the Fortune 200 firm, AFLAC. After
much initial success she transitioned from B2B sales, sales management, and project
management with a consistent focus on building lasting alliances for the organization across
industries. She won many awards during her tenure at AFLAC, including several regional
recognitions for top performing sales-agent, and rookie-of-the-year for 2002.
In addition to more traditional work experience, Marcia had the unique opportunity to work on
some SME contract projects. She secured many key accounts in the staffing & executive search
industry. And she pioneered initial business development at “Know your options”, a holistic
health clinic in Southern California working with world-renowned Biochemist, Dr. Jacob Swilling.
In 2010, she received her M.S. Leadership with emphases in leader development and systems-
thinking, and is currently working on a Doctorate in Business Administration at Walden
University’s school of management. She completed her B.A. in Women’s Studies, with a
concentration in social movements at the University of California, Santa Cruz.
When Marcia isn’t busy in her professional life, you can find her doing something athletic like,
biking, hiking, at the gym or practicing yoga, delving through the latest read, exploring a new
eatery, traveling and spending time with loved ones. Marcia is always seeking to learn,
empowering others to realize their potential, and takes pleasure in perpetual growth.
