1. Kenya D. Brown holds a Master of Business Administration (MBA) from the Kel-
ler Graduate School of Management. Ms. Brown has assisted distressed small busi-
nesses’ in restructuring for optimal sustainability and has worked as a consultant
advising clients in the area of marketing and business development.
Ms. Brown has taught several business courses—in addition to independent stud-
ies—at the College of New Rochelle in New Rochelle, NY and Harlem, NY. Some
of her courses include Economics, Small Business Management, Introduction to
the Stock Market, Management and Theories of Motivation and Introduction to
Business Management and Organization. Ms. Brown credits these courses for fur-
ther developing a deeper theoretical understanding of the sciences and practices behind business oper-
ation. Ms. Brown understands intrinsically how a small business should develop from inception
through execution.
Ms. Brown worked as a coordinator of research and assessment in the Dean’s office for three years
before joining the Rosa Parks Staff as the assistant to curriculum and instruction. Ms. Brown assisted
the Rosa Parks campus in managing 64.4% of the overall fiscal budget and effectively balanced the
budget for optimal course curriculum offerings. She is also the speech writer for the Dean of the
School of New Resources.
Prior to coming to the College of New Rochelle Ms. Brown worked as a marketing assistant for the
internationally renowned law firm Skadden, Arps, Slate, Meagher & Flom. While at Skadden she
compiled competitive research on Fortune 500 companies, created comprehensive reports detailing
relevant company information; and presented that data quantitatively and qualitatively to partners for
business development pitches. She also tracked competitors’ market share in various practices/regions
and created qualitative analysis of the data.
As a marketing and business development consultant she designed and implemented a six-week pro-
fessional development training seminar for The UA School of Business for Young Women (DOE).
The primary objective of the program was to train a small group of staff members on appropriate of-
fice etiquette techniques, including but not limited to: greeting clients; efficient telephone etiquette;
effective internal/external communication; survival methods for managing burn-out and managing
stress and work life balance. Ms. Brown is currently acting as the business development consultant to
a start-up not for profit; in this role she advises on contract negotiation, proposal/grant writing, and
collateral materials, in addition to developing marketing strategy, brand marketing and client develop-
ment.
Ms. Brown has worked with notable authors like Maryann Reid, whose novella, Single Black Female,
appeared on USAToday.com and WNBA™ Champion Yolanda Moore. Ms. Brown is the Editor of
