Nancy Hicks is a Principal on the Mercer Marketplace 365 team acting as the Market Consulting Team
Lead for South clients in the East Market. She is responsible for managing client relationships across all
lines of coverage for the Southeast market. Nancy manages her own book of business, including the team
of specialty and supporting colleagues.
Experience
Nancy has spent twenty-five years in the employee benefits industry. Prior to Mercer, Nancy worked with
Riverside Health System in Newport News, Virginia, as the System Director for Total Rewards. At Riverside
Nancy had responsibility for the Total Rewards area, including Compensation, Benefits Services, and Work-
Life areas such as the Riverside Child Development & Learning Center, the Employee Assistance Program,
and the My Healthy Lifestyle Wellness Program. Nancy also has worked at The Colonial Williamsburg
Foundation, McGladrey, and IBM.
Nancy is certified as a Senior Professional of Human Resources by the Society of Human Resources
Management, She also holds certifications in Compensation, Training Facilitation, and Human Resources
Strategic Decision Making. Nancy's HR experience ranges from business consulting to the management of
internal compensation, benefits, human resources, and occupational health and wellness programs.
Education
Nancy earned her Bachelor’s degree from the University of Virginia and the Sorbonne. She holds a MBA
from the College of William and Mary. She has served on several local boards including the Virginia
Business Coalition on Health, the Hampton Roads Compensation and Benefits Association, the Gloucester
Point Rotary Club, and as a trustee for Gloucester County's Main Street Preservation Trust. Nancy
maintains resident Life & Health and Consulting licenses in Virginia and in all the states for which she has
client responsibility.
