3. Introduction
o The Spanish company named Vortex
Bladeless recently unveiled their design for
a wind turbine that generates electricity
without the need of rotating blades.
o In what one of the co-designers described
as looking like “asparagus", the turbine uses
the force created by natural wind vortices
to generate electricity.
o Vortex Bladeless, on the other hand,
designed their turbine to take advantage of
this effect.
o David Yanez is part of a team inspired by
the motion that collapsed the bridge to
create a bladeless wind turbine
4. WORKING AND OPERATION OF BWT
o The Vortex wind generator represents
a fairly radical break with conventional
wind turbine design, in that it has no
spinning blades (or any moving parts to
wear out at all), and looks like nothing
more than a giant straw that oscillates
in the wind.
o Finally the model is of a new wind
turbine prototype. Based on field
testing, the Mini ultimately captures
30 percent less than conventional wind
turbines, but that shortcoming is
compensated by the fact that you can
put double the Vortex turbines into the
same space as a propeller turbine.
5. o A big change may be coming to the design of wind turbines of the future and the future may have no blades.
Vortex Bladeless claims its first generation of bladeless wind turbines would generate electrical power in
essentially the same way.
o Now a Spanish company has come up with a solution to ease opposition to the technology; a bladeless wind
turbine that can generate more electricity for less. The energy contained in moving air is proportional (among
other things) to the air mass, which in a wind turbine setting is proportional to the capture cross-section.
6. o . Vortex claims that their wind
turbine can adapt to any wind
speed with the assistance of the
magnets in its core.
.Vortex is much smaller than
traditional wind turbines,
allowing you to use your space
more efficiently.
7. OSCILLATORY TECHNOLOGY
o Vortex Bladeless has developed
turbines that harness vorticity, the
spinning motion of air or other
fluids.
o When wind passes one of the
cylindrical turbines, it shears off
the downwind side of the cylinder
in a spinning whirlpool or vortex.
That vortex then exerts force on
the cylinder, causing it to vibrate.
o The kinetic energy of the
oscillating cylinder is converted to
electricity through a linear
generator similar to those used to
harness wave energy.
8. DEMONSTRATION OF
BWT
Generously assuming a 5% capacity factor,
you'd actually need about 4,000 Vortex
turbines to equal the same amount of
power from one single modern wind
turbine.
RAUL MARTIN, VORTEX BLADELESS CO-
FOUNDER, SAID, "COMPARE OUR INVENTION
TO A CONVENTIONAL WIND TURBINE WITH
SIMILAR ENERGY GENERATION--OURS
WOULD COST SIGNIFICANTLY LESS," ROUND
50 PERCENT OR 47 PERCENT LESS.
so as to maximize some "value" that the
wind turbine has overall, While a
traditional wind turbine uses the spinning
of the propeller to create energy, the
Vortex turbines will use an aerodynamic
effect known as voracity.
9. ADVANTAGES OVER
CONVENTIONAL WIND TURBINES
No gears and bearings,reduces
manufacturing and
manitainance drastically.
No lubricants needed,noise
less,more environmental
friendly.
More efficient.
It reduces foundation at the
bottom by 50%.
Birds can fly around them
without fear of being sucked in.
10. CONCLUSION
The system is mainly adaptable with
lighter material and low maintenance
cost, hence there is ease in installation
within the specified space in huge
amount
The cost of power generation per hour
will be 40% less than the conventional
wind turbines. There is future growth in
this bladeless wind turbine with more
accurate in the power generation with
high Megawatt/hr.
