3. Farming
4. Fishing
Olanen Bay:
1. Fishing
2. Charcoal Making
3. Farming
SOCIAL PROBLEMS:
1.Municipal water boundary disputes at Tambac Bay. - As per NAMRIA Map, Alaminos City and Bolinao common Coastal Terminal Point is at the Bani estuary ‘Wawa” thereby making Bani as a non - coastal municipality.
2.Lax implementation / enforcement of fishery, coastal and forestry – related laws and ordinance. - Declining fish catch due to overfishing. - Denuded forest due to cutting trees for charcoal. 3. Illegal structures along riverine and coastal areas - Residential houses, piggeries, toilets and piggeries along coastal areas triggers water pollution.
4.Erosions, siltation and sedimentation of river system and coastal areas - These are causes of eutrophication of rivers.
5.Poor Waste Management -Inefficient garbage collection. Only 1 garbage truck is catering the town. 6. Natural Hazards - Flood prone areas in coastal and riverine barangays facing Tambac Bay. - Tsunami and erosion prone areas in coastal barangays facing Olanen Bay.
7.Absence of Municipal Tourism Plan - Though Bani is making a name in ecotourism because of Bangrin MPA, scenic beaches, class A cave, tourism remains a low priority of the LGU.
1.Erosion and sedimentation - Shallowing of rivers, 5 rivers in Bani drain to a common estuary causing its shallowing and poor inefficient flow and ebb of tidal water.
2.Flooding - Occurs in low lying barangays causing escape of fish stocks, reduced palay production and endanger lives of residents. 3. Storm Surge, Waves and Typhoons - The strongest Typhoon Emong lashed the municipality in 2009, forced coastal and riverine communities evacuate in higher grounds to save their lives.
Area of old Mangroves Stands - 2,018 hectares Area planted within the last 10 years - 37.05 hectares reforestation - 32.41 hectares riverine reforestation
Mangrove Distribution in the municipality of Bani
1.Source of Food - Fish, Prawn, Crabs, Shellfish and others. 2. Source of Charcoal 3. Tourism - Bangrin Mangrove Marine Protected Area (MPA) was declared the 13th Bird Watching Site of the Philippines in 2008 and Accredited Tourism Facility in 2009. 4. Serves as nursery ground of aquatic resources. 5. Protection of coastal areas and communities from storm surge and typhoons.

-Serves as nursery ground for fishes, crustaceans, shell fish; feeding on litters and detritus;
-Serves as sanctuary for shore birds;
-Serves as buffer weakening gusty winds and water surge in times of typhoons;
-Absorbs organic nutrients from solid waste flowing down from Bani to Tambac Bay;
-Reduces river bank erosion/siltation from the 5 river system draining to the estuary
-Mangrove reforestation as a livelihood increases the income of fishermen.
Future Plans
1. Conduct of periodic IEC/advocacy on coastal habitats protection and resources management;
2. Formulation of specific management plan for primary coastal habitats;
3. Establishment and maintenance of MPA/MS and nature reserves;
4. Enactment of ordinance and/or enforcement of relevant national and local laws;
