5. Sound script
Welcome to ‘new news’ 10 seconds background music which is also going to be 10 seconds.
6 seconds; And today we are joined with one of the family's victims from the London terror attack
10 seconds; Interviewer: Hello and welcome to new news with me Tracey Slater hope your all well one this bright and sunny day and
today we will be talking about a very sensitive subject with one of the parents who has lost their child from the isis crisis
3 seconds; Me: Hello Sarah now I am very sorry for your loss
1 second; Sarah: thank you
3 seconds; Me: now if you would like to tell everyone what happened to your daughter
15 seconds; Sarah: my daughter she was only 16 and I let her go out for one of her friends birthday meals near London bridge I never
thought of it at the time I never thought anything bad would happen to her nothing about isis ever crossed my mind
1 second; Me: (mm)
Break for 3 seconds;
10 seconds; Sarah: I got a call from her at around 11:30 I just thought she was calling me to tell me she got to her friends house okay
all I could hear .. Sorry
3 seconds; Me: its okay take your time
25 seconds; Sarah: yeah and erm .. All I could here was screaming going on my daughter yelling ‘’mum mum help’’ I was lost for words
next thing you know I heard the knife go through her and everything just went silent for half a second I screamed so loud I was in
shock my daughter had died I didn’t even need anyone to tell me she was gone I knew I knew and it only took half a second
6. 2 seconds; Me: what happened next
35 seconds; Sarah: I stayed on the phone to her even though I knew she couldn’t hear me I went into my car and drove to London bridge I didn’t
even care or think about how dangerous it could have been I just needed to be with my daughter just to hold her in my hands one more time. When I
got their all I could see was dead bodies on the floor it took me about 2 seconds to find my daughter erm…. The police wouldn’t let me go through
but I had to she was my daughter I got to her and her body was so cold I couldn’t even see them beautiful green eyes anymore. My daughter gone
just because of a belief that isn’t even right and I will spend the rest of my life regretting that I wasn't with her when it happened or I wasn’t their for
her as soon as it happened.
5 seconds; Me: there was nothing you could of done, who do you blame for this
30 seconds; Sarah: who else is their to blame other then the person who done it no one could of stopped it the police no one I still pray to god that
my daughter is okay and I hope she is looking down on me knowing how much I loved her how much my heart is hurting right now and that mummy
will always love her no matter what and we will soon be together
10 seconds; Me: now what do you think should be done to prevent these kind of things happening again
1 minute; Sarah: nothing can be done this is life no one can stop any one from doing anything these people are very clever and God will punish them
they will live in regret and that is one of the most painfuliest punishment anyone could ever get. Its time for people to realise that this is a cruel world
and no one can doing anything to make this world better we just have to carry on with our normal lives and make sure that you keep your children
safe whatever you do whatever it takes and if another incident happens like this again at least you will know that you did everything in your power to
keep your child safe even though right now my heart in ripping apart I have no emotion for anything else if you was to stela my house my car
everything I had I would have no emotion I wouldn’t care when something like this happens everything else in life seems so pointless to you. This
should be a lesson to all my daughters life was used to be a lesson to people who are so ignorant and naive to ever think anything like this could ever
happen to them or their families.
30 seconds; Me: thank your for sharing your story with everyone and I hope that nothing like this ever happens again I cant even imagine how your
feeling right now but you are every brave and strong for coming on this and sharing your story to everyone who thinks no one is suffering right now.
Even if your going to work or going out and you are listening just know there are so many people suffering right now make sure you don’t take
everything for granted because you don’t know what you’ve got until its gone
5 seconds; Me: again thank you for coming in today
2 seconds; Sarah: its okay
30 seconds; Me: now I hope everyone has an amazing day and don’t let any one or anything ruin it make sure you do everything you have dreamed
of doing because you never know when its too late. Thank you for tuning in this is Tracey slater on new news and ill see you tomorrow morning with
an exclusive talk with one of the biggest and hottest stars right now telling you all her tips to stay looking young.
10 seconds; Outro music
7. Equipment list
The equipment I will be needing to ensure that my radio show is how and what it should be
like I will be needed to use the following equipment
•A microphone. Audio is one area that you won't want to cut corners with. ...
•Headphones. Your headphones don't have to be top of the line, but you will want something
that's up to the job. ...
•Voice recorder
•Transmitter is very important for a radio show because it takes your broadcast signal and
transmits as radio waves that can be picked up by any receiver.
•Receiver picks up the encoded signals decodes it, and allows for you to hear it.
•Antenna sends and receives radio signals which very important in a radio show.
•Cables to allow you to connect it with other equipment so the signal flows
•Speakers that are designed for music studios be used, as they can give you the most
accurate representation of the signal.
•Mixer to allow the operator to put together more than one audio signal and control various
aspects of how they sound, including level and equalization.
•I will be needing headphones so that I can listen to my recording over and see if it sounds
right in heads phones and to make sure I do not hear any background noise.
9. Recording schedule
• I am going to recording on Thursday 21st
in the morning so that I will
then have time to re do it if it did not sound right also it will then give
me more time for editing to make it sound just how I want it to
sound. The reason for doing it in the morning is so that I have most
the day to re do some recordings if I make a mistake and also so I can
listen to it over and over just to make sure everything is right and in
case something does not sound right I will then have time to go back
and record again.
10. Sound checks interior and exterior,
setting of recording levels
• I will make sure I do a test run and speak into the microphone I will
first start of by speaking more close in tot the microphone then more
back from the microphone I will then listen to my recordings and
chose which one sounds the best so that I can then do it for my
recording and know how far or how close to keep my microphone.
• For my interior recording which I will be doing all my recording in I
will make that I am in a closed and small room so that there is less
time for the sounds to hit the hard objects such as walls so it does
not create an eco because that is not what I want in my recording for
my radio show also, I will be in a room where it does have as many
hard objects as other rooms so that there is no eco in my recording.
• I will not be doing any outside/exterior recordings because of all the
winds but if I chose to at the end I will bring a wind cover to stop the
wind from interrupting and messing up my recording.
• Settings of recording levels will be low because of the subject that I
will be discussing with a guest on the ‘show’ so we wont want to be
screaming and shouting because it is a sensitive subject.
11. Copyright clearance
• Request copy right clearance because it is not our song so we will
have to get permission from the artist and sometimes we would have
to pay money just to use that song in our radio show.
• Or there is a way that we can find copy right free music for example
there is a site called ‘Premium Music Which’ lets you download copy
right free music with out breaking and copy right rules.
• There is another way which is by making your own music but this
could be very time consuming and most people would rather listen
to more popular and trendy music that every one is listening to at
the moment and also old songs for the older people tuning it.
• I could also use friends who sing or rap and put it in my radio show
with their permission
• Also using instrumentals to avoid getting copy right from artists and
brands.
12. Health and safety (risk assessment)
What could
happen
To make sure it
wont happen
What to do if it
happens
Someone could
trip over the wires
Make sure all the
wires are kept
together and
away from the
actors
Tell your teacher
Break the
microphones
Make sure that
you are holding it
properly
Tell your teacher
as soon as it
happens
Weather
conditions could
ruin the
equipment.
Make sure you
are recording
outside if the
weather is good
or go under
something that
stops the rain
from going onto
the equipment.
Make sure you
inform your
teacher as soon as
it happens just in
case there is
something they
can do to take the
water out.
13. Booking forms for equipment and editing
space
• The editing space has macs in it so we will be editing out recordings
on a mac computer they are very good for editing and has the ‘Logic
Pro’ which I will need to edit my recording so that is why I have
chose to editing my recording on there. I will not need to book the
editing space because I am a media student and I will be editing in
my lessons.
• I will book my equipment form the technicians and they will give me
the equipment that I will be needed for my recording.
• I will need to ask my teacher to open up the recording suit to record
my recording because that is the only small space.
14. Booking sheetthe provider of the equipment had to write out names and signature and date when we took it in and took it out because then if something
happened you could prove that you took it back of if I was to lose it then the provider of the equipment could see that it was me that had
lost it I also, had to do my signature so that no one could pretend to be me and take out a camera and not return it then I would get the
blame.
16. Task 2
evaluation
• I have met all the aims on the brief because I have included things in my radio show that appeal to my target audience I have done
this by including the events that have happened recently which young people and people want to know more about I have tried to
make my radio show as interesting as possible by adding in a featured guest which tells everyone about how her daughter died in
the latest terror attack on London Bridge, this is placed in London which then effects everyone that is in London including my target
audience.
• my news segment fits in with my original ideas because it uses all the script that I planned out and I did not have to change anything
when recording my final recording I also, kept my recording inside which I had planned to do in my pre-production because of
reasons such as it would sound better and I wouldn’t have us much interruptions as I would have had outside. Something that I had
to change was that I had to be in a room which was a bit bigger than my original plan because of problems with getting inside the
room from this I learnt that beforehand it would be better to actually find out if the room is available and to have a backup plan if
anything did go wrong. For my equipment I didn’t use everything that I had planned to use because there wasn’t any need to I only
needed the zoom mic and a cable to connect the zoom mic to the computer to put into logic pro. In logic pro I used music for my
into and end and I got it from YouTube in the real world I would have got copyright clearance because I didn’t ask for permission
and it was my song the intro music I used was a instrumental jingle. i also, used logic pro to edit my recording which I had planned
to do at the start I had some difficulty because it was all new to me because of the fact that I had never used it before. For my
timing of my script some parts of the script where longer than I thought they was going to be and somewhere shorter then they
was going to be but at the end it all fit in and all sounded right so I decided to use it.in my pre-production I decided to do my
recording in the morning this proved to be a bit difficult because there was more people moving around and going past the room I
was in, in the morning When recording I had to start again a few times because I would make some mistakes whilst recording.in
logic pro I altered the sounds and made my intro go from being loud to then going a bit more silent o then blended some of my
intro to my start of my radio show speech bit and made it more silent and made it fad away after 10 seconds of me speaking and
introducing my audience to my radio show.
• my strengths for my radio show was that it all fit in together and it all fit in to appeal my target audience my script was very
believable and used lines which would make my audience feel some type of sympathy. Another thing that went well was the timing
of the whole radio it was a good time and it wasn’t too long for people to become distracted but, then it wasn’t too short.
• my weaknesses was that in my recording and whilst recording I had to start over and over because you could hear some diegetic
sound sit the background that where very distracting and also in my final piece you could hear some sounds like a door shutting for
the people outside so, it would have been a better idea to have done it when no one was around rather than just In the morning.
Whilst reading my script to the recorder I made a few mistakes and had to start over and the end when listening to my final piece I
could hear two bits where I stuttered and when turning up the volume on the computer of logic pro I could hear it but I could not
do anything about it because I and already imported it in to the computer so I had to edit what I had.
• Overall my whole radio show and recoding went well and I used most of the things that I and planned to use in my pre-production
my pre-production helped me a lot because it acting like a guide and guided my throughout all the steps that I and to do to achieve
a good radio show that appealed to my target audience. There were some weaknesses but for my first time doing something like
this I thought that it all went well and fit in to appeal my target audience which was the main thing.
